'Kel' book series
Returning to my childhood, I finally finished a series I started twenty years ago: Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small. Of course, her heroines are so memorable, we all refer to them as 'Alanna', 'Dane', and 'Kel' books. These four are the 'Kel' books, and let me tell you, they're not for the faint of heart. The previous books had violence and creepy magical villains, but with this young lady, she's on the battlefield time and time again. I think I'm too girly, but tomboys out there might love them:

Star of the Week: Hardy Kruger
A hot and toasty toast to Hardy Kruger, our new Star of the Week! I think he's just the cutest, so I've really enjoyed watching all his movies, and I hope you're inspired to watch some. To start, head on over to his page to watch a scene from his Rag-winning performance in The Flight of the Phoenix and read reviews of Hatari! and The Secret of Santa Vittoria. If you're interested, read up on Hardy's personal life. He had a truly remarkable story. I wrote him a letter to let him know he'd won a Rag award, but unfortunately, that very day, his death was announced online.

More Summer books
As promised, today's post includes three more summer book reviews. Yesterday's books were slightly better, but to each their own. Check out The Crown (The Selection #5), Back on Blossom Street, and It Happens in the Hamptons. You might find your new favorites - and if not, more summer novels will be reviewed in the following months.

Summer books
It feels like just yesterday I was posting summer book reviews; I can't believe it's been almost a year. 'Tis the season - the summer season - and it's time to get back to those fun and frilly beach reads. To start off, check out my reviews for Maine, A Good Yarn, and A Tangled Web. These were all really fun, and a great way to start off the season. Come back tomorrow for more book reviews!
