More Shifters to Love – Share the Love H0P!
The Share the Love blog hop is a little different because it’s about sharing the love. In this case, that means letting you know about some fabulous authors I adore, and asking you to follow them as a way of entering my giveaway.
So who do I love? I’m a voracious reader, so I love a whole lot of authors. (Not like that…ahem.) This time around I decided to focus on paranormal, mostly shifter, since I’m writing paranormal and that means you’re probably readers of paranormal. So here are a few of my faves and some of their books that I really love:
Celia Kyle – The first book I read by Celia Kyle was Battered Not Broken, which is still one of my favorites. I went on from there to read He Ain’t Lion and have enjoyed several more of the Ridgeville series. Most recently I read Whitney, the third in the Alpha Marked series. I read that one first, so now I need to go back and read the first two in the trilogy (what a shame…more great books to read!).
Eve Langlais – A lot of Eve Langlais’ books are humorous, but my favorites of hers aren’t – I totally love the Pack series, made up of three books, Defying Pack Law, Betraying the Pack, and Seeking Pack Redemption (so far??). They’re dark and uncompromising. When people do bad things, there are consequences. And they’re ménage, which I do love. Now, while those are my favorites, I like her other, lighter books too. One that sticks out in my mind is Delicate Freakn’ Flower, because of the way the mates find each other.
Kresley Cole – Kresley Cole’s been a huge favorite of mine ever since I discovered A Hunger Like No Other the first in her Immortals After Dark series. Maybe it was the opening of the book that got me…a werewolf so intent on getting to his mate that he chewed off his own leg to get out of a shackle. Her characters are complex, the obstacles they face are huge and (nearly) insurmountable, and I have a hard time putting her books down once I’ve started. I’m currently reading Shadow’s Claim. Give Immortals After Dark a try!
Michelle Fox – I’ve read several of Michelle Fox’s books but the one that sticks out in my mind is Bring Her Wolf. I loved the set up, the hero, and the pay off. I remember wishing I could read more about those two…and now I can! A new sequel just came out. The Alpha’s Mate. I can’t wait to read it!
Kinsey Holley – I discovered Kinsey Holley’s Yours, Mine and Howls a few years ago. Have you ever had one of those books that you went back to over and over? I don’t typically re-read books, but I’ve re-read this one several times. I haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly what makes it so fabulous for me but if you like werewolf cowboys and heroines who aren’t quite what they seem, do yourself a favor and check it out. I’ve read several others by her as well, all of them good. But Yours, Mine and Howls is the one I can’t get out of my head.
What about you? Have you read any of my faves? Or do you have favorites I didn’t mention? I always love to find new authors, so lay them on me…

A Romance Excerpt for A Romance H0p – 24 Karat

Hunter’s Moon
“Let me get your bag,” Sawyer said. Before she could even protest, he’d pulled it off her shoulder and slung over his own. “Let’s hurry. If we get there before he does, we could spend some time getting to know each other.” By his grin and the tone of his voice, she knew exactly what he meant.
She followed him up the stairs, going slowly. He already had the door open down the hall by the time she reached the top. He disappeared inside and came back a few seconds later without the bags to watch her approach.
“Come on, slowpoke.”
“We still need to eat,” she said.
He snagged her around the waist as soon as she got close enough and pulled her into the room. “Matt has the food. And Matt’s not here.” He walked her back toward the king-sized bed in the middle of the room.
Her body felt like it was on fire, the same as it had every other time he or Matt had touched her. Getting aroused wasn’t the problem.
“You okay?” Sawyer cupped her cheek and lifted her face toward his. “You seem withdrawn.”
“I’m fine. I’m just hungry.”
The door opened and Matt walked inside. “Hey–no starting without me.”
Before he could join the party, she pulled away from Sawyer and grabbed the bag of takeout from Matt. “Food.” She avoided Sawyer’s eyes and headed for the small table in the corner.
Her stomach wasn’t any more settled than it had been a few minutes earlier, but she figured she had two choices–eat food or have sex. She’d get the food down somehow.
Tate took the food containers out of the bag and set them on the table with the little plastic silverware packs and the napkins they’d been given. Claiming one of the two chairs at the table, she opened her box and prepared to dig in.
Matt took the other chair and ate with gusto, but Sawyer sat on the edge of the bed. His gaze felt heavy. Even without looking at him, she knew he was staring at her.
Tate took his box of food and handed it to him. Maybe that would distract him. For the next several minutes, they were all quiet as they ate.
Her stomach handled the burger better than she’d expected, so long as she didn’t think about the men or what would come next. And that was a lot to ask, considering she could feel them, feel where they were in the room, feel every glance that brushed over her, feel their heat. So she kept her eyes on the burger and ignored everything else.
Then Matt wound his legs between hers, resting his calves against her. Her skin burned through her jeans. “Almost done eating?” he said.
“Not quite.” She’d been so intent on her food she hadn’t even noticed that both men had finished. She nodded toward the bed. “You two can get started if you want. I think my food will need to digest first. After I finish eating, I mean.” She took another bite.
“Did she really just say that?” Matt said.
“Something’s bothering her.” Sawyer continued to stare at her. “She wouldn’t tell me what.”
“We’ll get it out of her. For now, hurry up. And you can forget about time to digest. That’s only for swimming.”
She wanted to make some sort of comment about getting thrown in the deep end but that would just get Sawyer going even more.
Matt stood up. “Your suggestion to get started is a good one, though.” He unbuttoned his shirt.
Tate did everything she could to save her sister from being kidnaped, but failed. When Sawyer sees Tate lying in the hospital after the beating the kidnaper gave her, he feels rage like he’s never felt before. But it isn’t until Tate and Sawyer go to Lunaville to help hunt down the kidnaper and retrieve Tate’s sister that they meet Matt, their mate…and their lives are changed forever.
Despite wanting to find the nearest bed and complete the mating bond, cops Matt and Sawyer investigate the clues while holding Tate back from getting in the middle of things. But Tate’s the one who finds the biggest clue of all, a scent trail that smells just like the kidnaper. In the midst of following the trail and tracking down clues, Matt and Sawyer try to heal Tate of her biggest wound–the guilt of not being able to stop the kidnaper herself.

Magical Wonder Men and How They Enchant Us – Winter Wonder Men H0p
The term “wonder man” can be taken a lot of ways, eh? He could be a regular guy who’s wonderful. Or he could be a super hero…Wonder Man! Or he could be out of the ordinary in some other way, like maybe a vampire or a werewolf.
Here’s the question, and it’s one I find interesting since I spend so much time writing and reading about werewolf heroes: what is it about these extraordinary “men,” these vampires and werewolves and shifters, that captures us? What is so wonderful about them that sets them apart from ordinary men?
I’m not really sure about the answer. It might be the mystique, that mysterious quality that draws us in. It might be that otherwordly males always seem to have a dangerous edge, like bad boys on steroids. Maybe it’s that the fantasy of the situation transports us into another world while we’re reading about them.
I would say it has something to do with that word…Mine…but not all of these wonder men go there. But when they do…Oh!
What do you think?
Below is a scene from my latest novella where the three werewolves find their mates for the first time. Before you leave, check out my current giveaways—the one below for this hop and the Wolf Pack 3 giveaway (starting Jan. 17) linked in the sidebar.

Hunter’s Moon
Tate put her hands on her hips in what looked like an unconscious gesture, and stood a little taller. “I’m here to help with the investigation.”
Trouble. But Matt was an alpha and she wasn’t going to get the better of him. “Would you like some coffee?”
Her eyes narrowed.
“No? Then why don’t I get you settled in our conference room, and then I can take your statement.”
She followed him as he walked toward the back of the room. “And then you can catch me up on the case,” she said.
The side door opened and Sawyer pushed through carrying a banker box. All of a sudden, the room filled with the most amazing smell, like chocolate donuts and crackling fires and home. A wave of lust crashed over Matt and his wolf howled.
Mates.
His eyes met Sawyer’s. This man he’d just met, this man he’d felt so comfortable with. His mate. And Tate…Tate was theirs.
It was all too soon. He wasn’t ready for mates yet. But wolves didn’t get a choice of when or where or if. He had no choice, so he had to roll with it.
And with the urge to bond with his mates riding him hard, he didn’t care a bit.
***
Tate froze, the scent of hot solder flux and chai tea and home swirling around her as lust bloomed in her body.
Her eyes met Deputy Geary’s–Matt’s–in sudden recognition. His deep brown eyes flashed gold for a moment, his wolf peeking out.
Her mates? She couldn’t find her mates. Not now. Not while Britton was missing.
Sawyer dropped the banker box and advanced on Tate while Matt approached her from the other side. As much as she wanted them wrapped around her body now, she also didn’t want them near her. She backed up until the backs of her thighs hit a nearby desk.
This couldn’t be happening. She didn’t deserve to have something so good happen to her when she’d done something so awful.
Sawyer and Matt came at her from either side. Each step they took increased the desire coursing through her. When they touched her, the sensation crowded out every other thought.
Matt ran his hand down her hair, his other hand gripping Sawyer’s shoulder. He buried his face in her neck and kissed the soft flesh there. At the same time, Sawyer kissed her temple, her cheek, the side of her mouth. Tate leaned toward him and their lips met, a groan ripping from her throat as his tongue slid into her mouth.
Someone gasped from behind them, and Tate jerked.
“Mates,” Matt said, his voice thick, before burying his face against her throat again. His short dark hair, so soft, brushed against her cheek.

Excerpt:
“Good afternoon.” The female voice that replied wasn’t one he knew, so he left the coffee and walked closer, wishing he could get a look without being seen. The woman continued, “I’m looking for Chief Deputy Geary.”
Everything clicked. He’d bet money Sawyer’s recalcitrant victim hadn’t stayed at the hotel more than a couple of minutes before hiking it down here. Trouble. Definitely trouble.
But he did want to hear her story. Matt entered the lobby area just as Peggy was asking the woman why she wanted to talk with him.
The woman was gorgeous–not classically beautiful, but she punched every button he had–those long lean legs, her tall tight body, the dark hair flowing down her back. If she weren’t a victim, if she weren’t tied up in an ongoing investigation, he’d do whatever he could to get her into his bed.
She spotted him. “Chief Deputy Geary?” She didn’t wait for his answer, but started toward him, holding out her hand. “I’m Tate McKenna. Sawyer must have told you about me. I’m Britton McKenna’s sister.”
Sawyer, was it? As Matt took her hand, he punched down an uncharacteristic spurt of jealousy. What did he care if Sawyer and this woman were on a first name basis? It wasn’t like she meant anything to Matt.
And it wasn’t like he wanted anything permanent. He wanted to find his mates, sure. But sometime in the future, after he was better established in the Pack and in his job. When he could provide for his mates in the way he deserved. If he and Tate had done anything…if circumstances had been different…they’d both have known it was short-term.
All the same, he had to ignore his wolf’s desire to whine when Tate pulled her hand away from his. “Good to meet you,” he said. “Sawyer mentioned you’d come to Lunaville so I could hear your account firsthand.”
Tate put her hands on her hips in what looked like an unconscious gesture, and stood a little taller. “I’m here to help with the investigation.”
Trouble. But he was an alpha and she wasn’t going to get the better of him. “Would you like some coffee?”

Paranormal Fragment Friday: Hunter’s Moon
What did it take to make a werewolf cry? Sawyer Hansen stood next to the hospital bed, machines beeping and whooshing around him. Slowly, Tate McKenna opened her eyes to focus on him. Her face looked puffy and discolored. Worse, he could see dried tears caking her eyelashes.
Sawyer wanted to find the man who’d done this and tear him to pieces with his teeth and claws. He had never felt so livid standing at a victim’s bedside. He’d visited plenty of hospitals and plenty of victims, seen them beat up, cut up, torn up, but this time he could barely contain his rage.
When he spoke, his voice had taken on the rumble of his wolf, and he was glad no humans were near. “Who did this?”
Tate swallowed. “I couldn’t stop him.” Her voice sounded scratchy and strained, and he could see why. Purple and black marks ringed her neck. The man had strangled her.
Claws sprung out of the tips of his fingers. He’d never been so close to a change in such a public place. “Who?”
“Don’t know,” she whispered. “Didn’t know him.”
Sawyer took a deep breath, trying to get control of himself again. He couldn’t change in the hospital with all these humans around. And he couldn’t be half-changed because a nurse could walk in at any second and see him. He waited until his claws had retracted and the wolf had receded to an angry distance.
After he’d pulled the guest chair to the bedside and sat down, Sawyer said, “Can you tell me what happened?”
