my first encaustic paintings...

Encaustic-12-

i was so inspired.

not only is her art beautiful, so is she inside and out. she made encaustic "doable" and i think we as students left with like 10+ variations of plastered, joint compounded, rigid wrapped, wax coated art. LOL).

First paintings of 2015...

Vase of roses - OILfull-

quite possibly falling in love.

i have been playing with oil paints the last couple days and although i find them incredibly messy & take an eternity to dry, I LOVE THE RESULTS.

Vase of roses - OILdetail1-

i have been experimenting with textures, blending the R&F Pigment sticks with the traditional tube paints and i am thrilled with the results!

Vase of roses - OILdetail5-

starting the New Year with a word has been our family's tradition for the past several years. like a clean slate or "permission to change" we can re-think and re-evaluate the path life guides us through.

each New Years eve, we share with each other our word and do our best to explain why we chose it. as each child has gotten older, this tradition has been such a blessing. the gift of hearing each child explaining their reasons for choosing their word...well as a parent, just know...
