Grimm End: Chapter 2
She glanced down both directions on the street before she tapped on the old wooden door of the Golden Lamp Pawn Shop. The windows were dark, and the sign was off. She knew her arrival was expected. It was not expected quite as much as required. Despite the cool night breeze blowing through the town, she was starting to sweat.
The street was almost deserted, except for a pair of dark figures that were ambling along toward her. They were bundled in dark coats with their hoods pulled over their faces. They were murmuring to each other, but Molly couldn’t catch what they were saying.
As they passed the door, Molly pressed her back against it and watched them. The hoods turned toward her for a moment, the blackness inside undisturbed by the little bit of light from the street lamp nearby. Then, they were past her and moving further down the street. Molly caught a hint of mint in the air after they had gone. The mint, she knew, was used to cover the smell of decay that often accompanied the presence of the Dead.

Grimm End: Chapter 1
The sun had already set when Molly Blair slipped down the servant stairs to the kitchen. It had been several hours since the evening meal and she found the kitchen clean and deserted. She checked again to make sure that she had the neatly folded old papers in her pocket. This is the last time, she thought to herself. After tonight, her debt is paid.
She glanced out through the dining room as she passed the swinging door that had been propped open for the night. The chandelier’s crystals refracted the last light of the evening, sending little dots of colored light here and there throughout the room. She hurried to the door leading outside. That door served as the servant’s entrance to the house as well as the door where delivery men would drop off sides of beef, cases of wine and packages of all shapes and sizes supplying the household with everything it needed. At that time of night, it was as forgotten as the kitchen. A moment later, she was out in the cool evening air and running across the yard to the trees.

Grimm End: The Remaining Chapters (Beta Edition)
The last three chapters of the Beta Edition of Grimm End have been added online. However, there is a catch. They have been locked in a deep dark dungeon below the public areas of my website. Locked by an evil curse that can only be removed if you know the password.
How can you obtain the password and rescue the chapters from captivity? Simply by emailing me and asking for it. I will give you this warning though. With the great power of this password comes great responsibility.
And that responsibility is to take a survey when you are done reading the chapters and let me know what you thought about the book.
This version of the book is a beta release. I am continuing to edit it and any feedback you can give me about it will improve the final version.
I thank you for reading Grimm End and I hope you will continue to read it as the saga continues.

Grimm End #13: The Gauntlet (Beta Edition)
When Bramwell entered the living room, no one noticed. Kask was sitting on the couch with Sara questioning her about what she heard. Daniel and Thomas were quietly talking by the window. Bramwell cleared his voice.
“The staff has checked the house from top to bottom. Your grand-daughter is definitely not here.” He told.
“Thank you, Bramwell.” Kask said. “It was a long shot.”
“Is there anything more you would like them to do?”
“No. Nothing more that can be done right now.” Kask told him. “Thank you.”
“We have to do something.” Daniel spoke up from the end of the room.
“What do you suggest?” Kask asked.
A knock on the front door interrupted them. Bramwell left the room to answer it.
The four of them stared at the open door into the front hall, waiting to hear who it was. There were low voices as Bramwell greeted the visitor and then footsteps as they crossed the hall to the living room.

Grimm End #12: The Kidnapping (Beta Edition)
The apartment above the Golden Lamp Pawnshop was quiet. Piri sat in a wing-backed chair reading a book. The lamp next to it illuminated her worn copy of Macbeth.
She looked up and peered down the hallway. She had turned the chair so that she could easily see Dior’s bedroom door. It was still closed.
Asami sat cross-legged on the floor. She placed a bowl on the floor in front of her, closed her eyes and flipped a playing card up into the air. The card would flutter down, flying this way and that, until it landed in the bowl. She would then move the bowl again and flip another card. She wasn’t trying to get the card into the bowl. She was placing the bowl where the card was going to land. It was her favorite game.
Piri glanced down the hall again.
“Not yet.” Asami told her.
“What is she doing in there?” Piri asked.
“Things are not going as she planned.” Asami said softly. “She needs to put more pressure on them.”

Grimm End #11: The Box (Beta Edition)
Sara stared at the man. He looked like her brother, but how was that possible? She saw him in his coffin. She saw him closed up in the mausoleum wall.
She sat down heavily in one of the chairs.
“You can’t be my brother.” She told him. “He’s dead.”
“I know it’s hard to believe, Sara. But it is me.” He sat down on a bench in front of her.
“I’ll let you two talk.” Lucinda said and, after a nod from Thomas, she left.
Sara leaned forward cautiously, frowning in concentration on his features. He had her brother’s nose, his chin, the little scar by his left ear that he got when he fell down a slide when he was eight years old. And he had her brother’s blue eyes.
“Is it really you?” She asked him in wonder.
“Yes, Sara. It’s me.” He said smiling at her. His voice was a little gruff, but it had the familiar sound that she had grown up with.

Grimm End #10: The Return (Beta Edition)
Peter stared up the steps into the shadows of the main floor. Dragging the body downstairs made a lot of noise, but he was sure he had heard something else. Was someone else up at that hour? He wondered.
He stepped over the body and quickly ascended the stairs. The back entry was empty. He glanced down the hall toward the front of the house and into the next room along the back of the house. Both were empty.
Then he remembered a small closet near the back door. He crept up to it and put his hand on the door handle. He paused and then yanked open the door. There was nothing in it except brooms, mops and other cleaning supplies.
He closed the door and after one last look around, went back downstairs.
When he first pulled the body out of its resting place, he didn’t think that it weighed all that much. It wasn’t even too bad when he’d dragged it from there to a hiding place until he could get it in the house.

Grimm End #9: The Shadow (Beta Edition)
Daniel heard a beep in the darkness. And then another. More sounds started to drift toward him but he wasn’t able to identify them. He tried to open his eyes, but the light around him was just too bright.
He moved his arms but they were heavy. His left arm moved just a little, but his right arm couldn’t move. Something was holding it down. The creature in the forest?
“Daniel?” a voice asked out of the darkness.
He opened his eyes again and squinted against the light. He wasn’t in the forest anymore. He was in a room with fluorescent lights and a tile ceiling. A woman leaned over him. He tried to focus on her face.
