You already know I have an expensive craft beer problem. I looks like developing a similar expensive delicious cheese problem.

Patton Oswalt lays down a funny, nasty, rather insightful Twitter run.
Context is incredibly important in conversation, and that can be much tougher to maintain in the fire-hose realm of social media. I'm doubtful that Patton Oswalt meant anything very profound as he launched this series of two-part tweets, but I found them to be more than just hysterical.
It's a good reminder that any given snippet you see zipping past your screen may not be all there is to an argument, a story, or a person.

Are you wasting time with social media?
If we're being honest with one another: probably. But even though time spent on social isn't time spent on writing, it's important for the indie author to stay connected.
But how? There are more social sites to update than there are hours in the day? How can any mortal make sure that they're interacting everywhere their readers are?
You can't. But you can make smart decisions and focus your efforts where they'll give you the biggest benefit. +Mike Allton has a great Three Tier approach that you should read up on. And adopt.

I found this odd image on a fluke search on Flickr. It's sorta relevant? But it is Creative Commons licensed: http://www.flickr.com/photos/waldopepper/9539230346/

I think I'm on a different internet.
I used to pride myself on being on top of the latest advances in web-stuff. Then a friend of me came back from a conference with this list of "have you heard of" sites.
I recognized about 10%. And about 50% have left me feeling like a reclusive old man still listening to his AM radio. There is some seriously cool shit happening online. And I'm not nearly close enough to it. Time to fix that.
Now hiring an assistant half my age to keep me from going obsolete. By tomorrow. Apply at some neural interfacing website I'm not yet aware of.

I should start all my weekends with a Bloody Maria!
Then again, productivity will likely suffer. Because who wants 12 ounces when you can have 20?
This is not a photo of my Bloody Maria. I nabbed it from Flickr, as it's licensed under Creative Commons: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lizphung/6306272016/

Well, I didn't die. Partially because I was in the water twice. The rest because I only played nine holes before calling it quits.
I was +4 on the day. And two of those were from OB positions (I always hated concrete pathways,), so I'm not feeling too bad.
Now for a shower and a beer. In that order.
