Royal Baby Image as Kate and William Emerge
Hi, it’s Wolf Whitzer, intrepid newshound at the Greenygrey. We’re proud to announce that we’ve scooped an image of the new royal baby boy, born to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge yesterday.
Royal Baby Emerges from Hospital
William said they were still deciding on a name, so there is still hope for King Greenygrey Aethelwulf Thunderylightning I. It was good to see Kate and baby looking well, and William looking relieved.
Here’s the image taken from Channel 4 news in the U.K. not ten minutes ago:

Congratulations on Royal Baby from Greenygrey World
Hi, it’s Greenygrey. I’ve heard that Kate and William have been receiving congratulations from around the world for the birth of their son, so I thought I would add my congratulations from the Greenygrey world. And I’d also like to thank Kate for holding on until the greenygrey weather returned to Blighty for the birth.
New Star Foretells Birth? Lightning Follows
This blog starts with lightning photographed after the royal birth, and ends with an image of a new star seen early on the day of the birth.
Angelic Lightning over Manchester within a day of the royal birth.
Royal Baby Name Update
The odds on Greenygrey being chosen as the royal baby’s name must have shortened with all the greenygrey weather.
Susanna Reid reports from a greenygrey Buckingham Palace.
I think that adding a historic name would also be a good idea, and that Æthelwulf would go nicely with Greenygrey.
Æthelwulf was the King of Wessex in the 9th century, and is the father of Alfred the Great. Æthelwulf is Old English for ‘noble wolf’. In those days Britain was pretty similar to Native American culture.
Æthelwulf in early greenygrey represention in the Genealogical Chronicle of the English Kings, a late-13th-century manuscript.
We also think that the weather conditions could be remembered in the name.
So that brings us to our final name proposal for the royal baby, and our hope that in the late twenty-first century there will be a King Greenygrey Æthelwulf Thunderylightning I sitting on the throne.
Pagan Representative
There was a representative from the animal kingdom there this morning, making it seem quite pagany.
It wasn’t a wolf unfortunately, but it was just about the next best thing: an eagle.
It was apparently brought to the palace after people were disappointed it was not the messenger of the royal birth, after people mixed eagle up with easel: news of the birth was first presented on an easel.
Eagle not the messenger.
A Bright New Star Foretold the Royal Birth
I thought the royal birth might happen yesterday when I saw a bright new star appear in the morning Sky… oh no, it was in fact the BBC.

Hacker in the BBC Breakfast Studio with Bill Turnbull and Susanna Reid.
It was Hacker T. Dog, the brightest new anthropomorphic star we’ve seen since Alexandr Orlov burst onto our screen in the Compare the Meerkat (Market) adverts; and best puppet since Gordon the Gopher.
Hacker was on form with Bill and Susanna on the breakfast sofa.
We wish both the royal baby and Hacker the best for the future; as well as all the other new life born in the last couple of days…

Royal Baby to be Named Prince or Princess Greenygrey?
Hi, it’s Wolf Whitzer, intrepid newshound at the Greenygrey, like Wolf Blitzer in the CNN world. With the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Kate, going into labour a week overdue, speculation has been growing in the Greenygrey world that the baby is going to be named Greenygrey whatever sex it is.

Greenygrey is of course ideal for naming babies before knowing the baby’s sex, as it is unisex.
Greenygrey’s Pagan Claim to British Throne
As regular readers know by now, the Greenygrey’s origins are shrouded in mystery. One theory in Greenygrey thinking is that the Greenygrey originates from the holy trinity of British Greenygreyism:
Boudicaa: pagan Iceni queen who bravely fought the Romans.
Penda: King of Mercia, and the last Anglo-Saxon pagan king.
Wild Wolf: the last wild wolf in Britain, running free in Scotland.
European Royalty Marrying for Power
Peoples of Britain circa 600 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
As European royalty buffs know; like our very own Tony Loboinson, whose human parallel Tony Robinson recently received an MBE from British royalty; the royal palaces of Europe have been inter-marrying for power and security throughout history.
Princess Kate is of course not a power broker, and is deserving of William’s hand in marriage and princesshood whatever the circumstances.
But maybe it is now time to reunite the Christian and Pagan crowns in Britain. Prince or Princess Greenygrey will be a good start…
But most of all, we hope that the baby is healthy for Kate and William.

National Lottery Olympics 2012 Anniversary Run and Ashes
Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, comedy satire sports correspondent at the Greenygrey. After I’ve had a quiet summer compared to last year, I was awoken into action this morning by the National Lottery Olympics Anniversary Run featured on the Andrew Marr Show. I then remembered this summer’s Ashes, Arishes, Oz Lions series and Murray winning Wimbledon.
Olympics 2012 Greenygrey Games
Olympics 2012 has fondly become known as the Greenygrey Games in the Greenygrey world, or 3G-2012 for short. So it was fitting this morning that one of the heroes in London last year, Victoria Pendleton, joined Team GG for this morning’s anniversary run:

Yep, it was now a year since I was very overworked!
Ashes Cricket Series Reminder of AusRuIcket Arishes

While last year was an amazing summer of sport in Blighty, this year’s has been pretty good too. A couple of greenygrey highlights were the thrilling Lions (Wollions for those reading this in the Greenygrey world) series win in Oz and Murray winning at greenygrey Wimbledon.
Now, the Ashes cricket series between Blighty and Oz is reminding us of the AusRuIcket Bonzo’s bagpipes Arishes played for by little penguins on Kangaroo Island since the Wereweolf of Ozzers visited there; immortalised in the epic comedy satire classic you all know and mixed-up vole now.
It was a thrilling first Ashes test, and Blighty looks to have the second test sown up to take a 2-0 series lead. We haven’t found much greenygrey action at the cricket, but then again, we haven’t been looking very closely.
Welcome to Wolfswinkel

Finally, we’d like to welcome Ricky van Wolfswinkel to Blighty. Ricky van Wolfswinkel is no stranger to the Greenygrey world of course, having been featured on this website when playing for Sporting Lisbon.
So we were thrilled to read that van Wolfswinkel signed for Norwich City, and will be playing for them in the Premier League next year; and in Norwich’s greenygrey ground!
Warm wishes to Wolfswinkel from the werewolf world.

Werewolfers Travel 1960s and 1970s Music Memory Lane
Hi, it’s Greenygrey. We hope you liked Jack’s brand new little photo saga yesterday, and I can assure you that it was Jack’s work, and not that of G.G. Howling; although Jack said he was inspired by G.G.’s storytelling prowess.
Epic Werewolf Comedy Satire

Talking of storytelling, we thought we’d keep the action going with the next episode of the comedy satire epic Werewolf of Oz: Fantasy Travel by Google Maps.
I think this episode has some nice lines referencing musical groups such as the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Mamas and Papas and Doors; and their musical titles such as Exile On Main Street and California Dreamin‘; but it is mainly to set up an Italian Job jokey line in the next episode. Enjoy!:
Chapter 86. Doors and Beatles Play Live in the Italian Job
The 1970s were before Kerang-Kerrang was built, which was probably why it had such a surreal psychedelic atmosphere. Graveyardish backstreets reminiscent of Black Sabbath’s early album covers crossed gaudy technicolor main streets that exiles from the 1960s would have rolled right into without noticing a stone unturned.
Doors of the Italian Job

We thought we’d lost the Grunginator, and strolled through the 1970s as if California Dreamin’ on a winter’s day; until a shot shattered my subconscious slumber. I turned around and saw the Grunginator hot on our tails.
We ducked into a hip looking jive dive by the name of The Italian Job. The Doors were on stage playing Strange Days, and I could relate to the sentiment of the song!
Doors to the Beatles

We found an empty table in a candlelit corner. Jim Morrison started singing My Eyes Have Seen You, which made me paranoid. I blew out the candle, hoping the Grunginator wouldn’t see us if it entered. I felt more at home when the Doors ended their set with The Changeling.
The Beatles took to the stage after the Doors. I hoped they would Help my mood, but just after they started playing I’ll Get You the Grunginator entered.

Voss, Naeroyfjord and Flam-Myrdal Photos Story
Hi, it’s Jack Wolfpac, legendary travel correspondent at the Greenygrey. I was just over at the travel25years.wordpress.com site, and Marc Latham’s photos of the Naeroyfjord and Flam-Myrdal railway reminded me of our recent search for Andy Wolfhol, after the Ice Spider and Downside-Up Penguin told us ol’ Wolfhol was in the land of trolls. So I thought I’d tell our story through some of the photos we took. Here it is:
Voss, Norway Greenygrey Story
We travelled over frozen mountains thinking we were lost. We had heard the waterfalls would show us the way, but they were still in their winter sleep.
We met an old viking, who looked like he knew the greenygrey world.
His wife returned from shopping.
The children were happy.
They took us to their greenygrey house. Keeping us warm, until…
the waterfalls awoke.
Showing us the way to the greenygrey train.
Returning us to the greenygrey world.

1980s British Heavy Rock and Metal Led to Doors
Hi, it’s Greenygrey. It’s that midweek time of the human week; which was created rather than really existing of course; so it’s about time for the first episode of a comedy satire story we created from a time-travel land beyond Earthly weeks with their Sun days… or even Moonly months.
Cover of The Doors
Yes, the Werewolf of Ozzers continue their journey through the magical rock world of Kerang-Kerrang in the latest thrilling instalment of Werewolf of Oz: Fantasy Travel by Google Maps. In this episode the Ozzers travel through a late-1980s British heavy rock and metal metaphor, which is looking a little run down after its 1970s and early-1980s heyday, before reaching the Doors of Perception:
Chapter 85. British Heavy Metal and Rock Around the Block
We emerged into the neon streets of night-time LA. As we reached a roundabout, a Ratt jumped Out of the Cellar of a nearby building. It ran past us before going Round and Round in circles. We continued running, with the Grunginator hot on our heels.
British Rock in the Late 1980s
Cover of The Dogs D’Amour
We entered the British quarter at the end of the 1980s. It had become a little run down by then, with hardly any new construction to add to the building blocks that had emerged in the early eighties classic period.
There was a small pocket of rising activity involving The Cult of Little Angels that had Wildhearts of Thunder worshipping Dogs D’Amour; but I heard gunfire after we passed through, so I feared the Grunginator might have destroyed the Temple of the Dog.

Dizzy shouted that he knew a short-cut into the 1970s, so we followed him through some Doors to a Moonlight Drive, and after passing the Roadhouse Blues we arrived at Venice Beach.

Notes
Ratt album and songs: Out of the Cellar, Round and Round.
1980s British bands: Cult, Little Angels, Wildhearts, Thunder and Dogs D’Amour.
‘Temple of the Dog’ is a lyric in the Mother Love Bone song: Man of Golden Words.
Doors songs: Moonlight Drive, Roadhouse Blues. Venice Beach in LA was where the Doors began.

Meditation and Optimism Healthy Mind
Meditation and optimism can make a healthy mind and increase life expectancy according to a new documentary, but does it also mean hiding from reality and neglecting your human duty?
Frontal lobe, gyri and sulci (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Hi, it’s Stephen Wolfing, science correspondent at the Greenygrey. I was reminded of my recent mind, brain and psychology (with a nice greenygrey gyrisulci image just found!) blog by a recent Horizon documentary that featured Michael Mosley investigating how meditation and optimism can add years to your life. It’s available in the U.K. on BBCiplayer until 10pm Wednesday 17th July; don’t know about other availability.
Michael Mosley’s Mind Meditates
Despite seemingly having a nice life, Mosley revealed he was prone to pessimism and depression; resulting in anxiety, insomnia and neuroticism.
This was shown in a brain scan revealing cerebral assymetry: filtering the world more through the right side of his brain’s frontal cortex, which is associated with negativity:
The right side of the brain is also associated with creativity of course, with the left side of the brain associated with logic.
Maybe that is why negative events in people’s lives can result in great bursts of creativity: because the right side of the brain is so active.
Over the course of the documentary Mosley meditated and tried to build a more positive outlook. By the end of the documentary Mosley said he felt better, and a brain scan revealed his frontal cortex correlated with this.
It was more assymetrical between left and right: positive and negative:
Avoiding Bad News and Negativity
While meditation and a positive outlook benefitted Michael Mosley’s mind; a comfortable middle-aged scientific celebrity who should really be happy; maybe it wouldn’t work for people who have pressing problems outside their mind: such as a lack of work and money.
And building a more positive outlook might also mean avoiding bad news. There is a nasty side to the human and natural world out there if you look for it, or you can largely avoid it by not following the news and current affairs.
This is the wisdom to news ignorance (avoiding bad news) Marc Latham wrote a Folding Mirror poem about on the fmpoetry.wordpress.com site, and that is included in his 242 Mirror Poems and Reflections book.
Sacrificing Happiness to Try Making a Difference
People who work in human and animal welfare charities, or join the army and go to a conflict zone; that are always exposed to the negative side to the world; should be more prone to depression. This is supported by the recent news story about British armed forces suicide rates.
Exposing yourself to the danger of depression I suppose depends on how much ‘negativity’ you think you can take, and how much you feel the urge to try and make a difference. Most humans seem to have that urge for a few years, before family and regular work becomes the main concern, and social philanthropy becomes a sideline.
Meditation and seeking happiness can seem selfish in the modern world, but if everybody was doing it, maybe there wouldn’t be the social problems that make people feel they need to risk happiness to make a difference.
Scenes of Inner Taksang, temple hall, built just above the cave where Padmasambhava meditated (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Risking happiness should also depend on how likely you are to be successful in making a positive difference. Thinking you’re making a difference should increase morale and mood. However, if you’re exposing yourself to negativity, and don’t think you’re achieving anything, that is likely to cause depression.
There have always been causes to support, and there always will be. I hope people will continue supporting human and animal welfare charities, and doing the right thing as they see it, but I wouldn’t encourage people to go further than they think they can handle. I don’t think I could work in charities regularly exposed to real and filmed cruelty… and not be depressed.

J.K. Rowling Pseudonym Controversy Update
Hi, it’s Wolf Whitzer, intrepid newshound in the Greenygrey world like Wolf Blitzer in the CNN one. I’ve just received this update about the J.K. Rowling pseudonym controversy and what it means for the Greenygrey world hot off the press from Marc Latham’s facebook page:
Marc Latham admits the possibility that he is a J.K. Rowling pseudonym, and welcomes research into the books under his name to bring the controversy to a quick conclusion.

J.K. Rowling of Greenygrey World Pseudonym
