San Francisco
Cupcakes & Chardonnay is set in San Francisco and Napa Valley. San Francisco is a city that will always be near and dear to my heart. I moved there when I was in my early 20s (shortly after the Loma Prieta earthquake) because I was in love with a man who lived there. Well, that didn't work out but I will always love The City.
If you've never been, I've been posting some photos of places that figure in the book on my Pinterest board:

Just in time for Valentine's Day!
Just in time for Valentine's Day, my sweet (as in cupcakes!) contemporary romance, Cupcakes & Chardonnay, releases today.
A marriage of sweet convenience ... and intoxicating temptation
Three years ago, Suzanne Austin dumped wealthy playboy and wine heir Daryle Catterton— and hasn't regretted it once. Now the owner of the hottest cupcake shop in San Francisco, her only relationship is with her business and she likes it that way ... until Daryle shows up with a business proposal she can't afford to refuse.
She knows Daryle will hold up his end of the deal, but can she hold up hers without losing her head when their old chemistry gets uncorked?

The Iris Cupcake
The Cupcakery in my forthcoming book, Cupcakes & Chardonnay, might be fictional ... but the Iris Cupcake isn't! Best of all, it has wine in it. As another Julia—Child— once said, "I enjoy cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food I'm cooking."
Enjoy!
Iris Cupcakes
(named after Iris Catterton, from Cupcakes & Chardonnay by Julia Gabriel)
Ingredients
2/3 cup butter, softened to room temperature
1-1/2 cups sugar
2-3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons baking powder
6 egg whites
3/4 cup chardonnay
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.
3. Sift together dry ingredients: flour, salt and baking powder.
4. Add dry ingredients and chardonnay to butter-sugar mixture. Alternate dry ingredients with the chardonnay. Mix until smooth.
5. In another bowl, beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
6. Gently fold egg whites into cupcake batter.
7. Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners (preferably pretty ones!). With a spoon, drop batter into each liner.
8. Bake in oven 20 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center of cupcake comes out clean.
9. Frost with your favorite icing!
Makes 20-24 cupcakes
Enjoy!
