The third installment begins
Just finished first chapter of third book and I think I kinda like it. It begins with Michaela reassessing her life and ends with her lab being destroyed by a break-in. Michaela is missing, blood splatter is everywhere. Is it from broken blood vials or was Michaela injured? Seth Whitehead, a mortal detective from AHPD who was introduced in first book, is back on the scene.

The Blank Page
I face the blank screen as I embark on my third book in the Amber Heights series. I've decided who it will be about. I know a lot about the problems that will be encountered along the way.
The story will be about Michaela, the troubled second born and the mortal detective that falls in love with her.
Yes, I already know these things but now I contemplate the blank screen and try to make them come alive.

A nice break
I just got back from traveling through Missouri and Oklahoma. I had the opportunity to visit friends and relatives. It was a time of catching up and concentrated laughter.
Repeatedly and graciously, I was asked to sign my book.
Almost everyone asked at one point or another if the bubblegum sex scene in It's A Wonderful Undead Life was autobiographical. What can I say? It is not but I won't give up the name of my friend it happened to. She related the story to me a few years back during a drunken gabfest.
So now the first book is published, the second is with the editor, and it is time to begin again...

Missouri Bound
In a few days I will be leaving the mountains of the west to head back to rolling Ozark hills to visit.
It's a good time of year to go. There Spring is already in full force. Past the tentative first flowers to a full out lush landscape. There is a green there the sandy soiled, high altitudes never achieve.
In Missouri they already have their mowers in use. The sweet, fresh-cut watermelon smell of freshly mowed grass has always been one of my favorites.
I will see my mother, sisters, and old friends. It's a time to catch up on gossip and laughter. Renew bonds.
The only one who will not be happy about this trip is my dog. He doesn't get to go. Right now he snores at my feet in blissful ignorance. But he knows what the suitcase means and hates when it comes out.
My sons will shower attention on him while I'm gone, yet, he'll still manage to make me feel guilty upon my return. He'll turn his head away when I first greet him. Pout and ignore me for hours but his heart is so big, I know I'll be forgiven at dinner time.

What comes next
I am getting ready to send my second book,
Vampire in the Scrying Glass to the editor. What then I ask? Whose story is next? Metta or Michaela Blautsauger both are waiting for their stories to be told.
Perhaps it's time to leave the Blautsaugers all together and go in another direction?
I will spend the last part of the month traveling, soaking up ideas, and deciding the fate of my fictional family.

Vampire of the Realm at Coffeetime Romance book winners
The posting were so much fun. I put on some questions about blood and fill in the blank vampire jokes. Cute answers.
Dawne from Canada is receiving a signed copy of It's A Wonderful Undead Life. We've exchanged a few e-mails and she is sending me a signed copy of one of her books. How's that for a treat! I win from my own post.
The other book goes to Teresa in NC. She e-mailed me with an invitation to the Lestat Ball in New Orleans where Ann Rice will be attending. Per her request, I'm sending a couple of extra signed copies of my book to go into a charity raffle.
So again thanks to Vampires of the Realm, I think I made a couple of new friends.
