Boys, Toys - OH MY! Volume 2 by A.M. Willard

Is this what my life has become… Selling novelty items to couples…
I walked away from it all – the job, and the guy because he thought I was a stripper… The problem, I still want the guy, and I still blush at the word penis. Not as much, but the heat still rises when I stop to think about what I’m saying.
Yes, this is my new life and I have to find the confidence to live it like I own it.
I knew allowing her to walk away that night was a mistake… Now I have to find a way to show that I truly care about her, and maybe then she’ll understand that I can’t live my life without her.
The problem is she only wants to be friends, if that’s the only way I get her then it’ll have to be enough.

It Started With A Kiss By Melanie Moreland

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.

Author Interview Karina Kantas

By Karina Kantas
182 Pages
#magical #romantic #fantasy
Karina published her first book in April 2016 and now has 8 titles for sale.
AJ & Storm: What did you love most about Illusional Reality?
Karina: I love the love story between Alkazar and Thya. It starts with flirtation and the reader gets to see this flirtation grow into something more serious. A forbidden love. So you are caught up in this relationship and no matter how it plays out, you're invested.
AJ & Storm: What made you choose your genre?
Karina: To be honest, it is my love for Tolkien, not his written work but the idea behind it. The characters and the story that just drags you in. It was after watching The Fellowship of the Ring that the story of Illusional Reality came about. However, there is no wizard, trolls, elves or goblins, in my fantasy.
AJ & Storm: If you could invite any writer for lunch, who would it be and what would you ask them?
Karina: It would be S.E.Hinton. It was her novella, The Outsiders, that got me into writing. I cared about these rebels she wrote about and I had my own story to tell. I would ask her what was her life like , growing up. Did she ever experience the rush, thrills and dangers, she puts her characters through.
AJ & Storm: Tell us about your teasers. What do you look for? How do you go about making them?
Karina: I love designing teasers. There are the ones that showcase the cover of your book and a one liner such as for Illusional Reality, I used, Step out of reality and into an Illusion.

I create ads and promotional designs such as banners and teasers, for other authors. I love being able to tease the reader with a picture. And I enjoy searching for a photo of a person that is close to the character in the author's book and then finding the perfect line to post with it. The same as book trailers I love being able to show the author's story with only music, images and few words.

Falling For the Player by Jessica Lee

Falling For the Player by Jessica Lee Genre: New Adult - M/M Romance
Publisher: Entangled PublishingRelease Date: January 16, 2017

Bad boy and former NFL running back Patrick Guinness is tired of meaningless sex. Ever since his scorching hot one-night stand three years ago, no one has interested him. So when Max Segreti wanders into his mechanic shop—and his life again—Patrick can't stop thinking about the totally-out-of-his-league law student and the possibility of getting him out of his system once and for all…
Max Segreti has spent his entire life doing what his father wants. But when he runs into the hotter-than-hell player he’s never been able to forget, he’s not thinking about studying for the bar. A distraction is the last thing he needs, but after an encounter leaves him wanting more, Max embraces the chaos that Patrick brings…even as he knows it can’t last. They're too different to ever have a future together.

Jumping up, Patrick yanked his soaked shirt over his head.
Damn, that shit is hot!
“Oh, fuck!” Max grabbed the wet shirt and tried to soak up the remaining coffee dripping off Patrick’s skin. “God, this is my fault. I should have been more careful.” Then Max jerked his own T-shirt off and blotted Patrick’s chest with it, his expression twisted with concern. “Are you okay?”
He was fine. Not that Max would stand still and listen long enough to find out. Fuck, the guy was too adorable. Patrick was lucky the coffee had been Max’s heavily creamed version and so not hot enough to do any damage.
Patrick braced his hands on the other guy’s shoulders, trying to hold him in place, but it wasn’t working. “Max,” he called out to him.
“Do we need to get you to the ER?”
“I’m fine.”
“Shit, Patrick, I—”
Seizing one of Max’s wrists, Patrick hauled him against his chest, bringing a halt to whatever else he’d been about to say. Max looked up, his eyes wide, stunned.
“I’m okay,” Patrick whispered. He couldn’t stop drinking in the other man’s features. Strands of Max’s dark hair had fallen forward onto his forehead. The guy had the most expressive dark blue eyes, with small flecks of amber around the pupil he hadn’t noticed until now. Patrick followed the bridge of the man’s perfectly straight nose lower to where it ended above the carved V of his mouth. Outside of his looks, Max was everything Patrick never went for, smart and obviously rich, judging by the expensive car and his big-ass condo. Back home, the only way he and Max’s type would have mixed would have been when he worked on their cars. Funny how his popularity as a football star placed him, for once, on the other side of the tracks. Someone who would soon be rolling in the big bucks. The pink tip of Max’s tongue appeared, momentarily short-circuiting Patrick’s train of thought as Max licked his full lower lip.
Fuck.
Patrick wasn’t sure who moved first, but the next thing he knew, he had his fist clenched in Max’s short, thick hair and his lips sealed against Max’s. A hard shudder of pleasure raced over him, and Patrick’s cock bucked against the confines of his zipper. Max groaned, his mouth roaming every inch of Patrick’s mouth, as if he couldn’t get enough. But Patrick matched his every move, unsure who needed the contact, the pleasure, more.

When big publishers can make a lemon of a book a best seller
Spy Secrets That Can Save Your Life

On Amazon
I bought this because I thought it would be interesting for developing a character I’m working on. Also, I was looking for some flashy spy tricks. I’m sorry to say I didn’t finish this book. After reading half of it, I just put it away.
Hanson does talk about ways to escape being taped, being tailed etc etc but the writing style is not to my taste. The problem for me is that this is a giant advert for his courses and videos. Every second page is about him telling a client X in Y, and giving a talk to corporation A in B. Boring. But it’s a best seller so I guess he’s satisfying some market.
That was my review for Amazon. What I did not say was this:
Frankly, this bloody awful book makes me wonder about big publishing houses and the best seller lists.
This book comes from TarcherPerigee - Penguin Books USA. They've got lots of clout, including getting endorsements from celebs like Rachel Ray and the director of the International Spy Museum.
The publishers can pay take out to lunch, editors from all the major newspapers in return for "honest reviews". They can also pay for book spots on TV shows and magazines.
I keep reading studies that say big publishers are losing out to other players. However, it is clear to me that deep pockets still can make this lemon of a book a best seller. To be honest, that makes me a little sick. I've read some bloody good indie reads in the last few weeks that deserve to be up there and instead we get this trash.
I'm not falling for the Best Seller tag again. Bring on the Indie authors!
