Some people love summer. Others hate the heat, the humidity, the long, hot days.
I have mixed feelings. This is my first summer spent in my new home--Mazatlan, Mexico. I'm excited about living in a new (to me) fascinating country, but not so excited about the heat, which I don't care for.
I've again embraced the lifestyle I created living in Thailand in 2006-07: out and about in the morning, and after a nice lunch an even nicer siesta. Then I get up and do chores.
Later, I'll visit my mother, who lives nearby and is the reason for the move. She's 89 and has Alzheimer's. She isn't likely to be around forever, so I try to spend some time with her every day. After I chill with Mom, beach walk--we live a few minutes from an incredible beach. I'll return home, feed my dog and might go out for dinner, might stay in. Whatever.
I stay chill and happy with this schedule. The siesta lifestyle suits me just fine.

But I'm sure that many find summer time to be bummer time. If you're a harried single mom, wrestling a couple out-of-school kids along with chores and a job is probably a mega-drag.
