BLOG TOUR & REVIEW: Big Game: Hunted Love #1 by Aden Lowe

Title: Big Game: Hunted Love #1 By: Aden Lowe Released On: September 15th, 2014 Genre: Western Romance / Erotica*Recommended for ages 18 and up due to sexual situations and some strong language*
Synopsis: When a legendary predator decides prize horses should be on his menu, Kate takes the advice of her neighbor ranchers and hires a big game hunter to track the mountain lion and remove the threat. The hunter arrives to take up the trail, but instead of the seasoned older man she expects, he's young and impossibly sexy. Freshly back from deployment to Afghanistan as a special forces operative, Jakob needs to clear his head of the horrors of war. When his uncle is injured, Jakob steps in to fulfill the older man's commitment to hunt down a mountain lion on the other side of the state. The prospect of several days in the wilderness with only his horses and dogs for company sounds like the ideal opportunity. Except the infuriating female rancher insists on going along for the ride.

Excerpt:
Continuing her wide circuit of the rig, Kate's attention fell to the custom crates built into the bed of the pickup. That explained it. Dog kennels meant the hunter had arrived hours earlier than she expected. But why bring his own horses? As far as she'd heard, most only brought their dogs, and the rancher was expected to provide whatever transportation the hunter preferred, whether it was horses or ATVs. She'd already had two heavy duty ATVs prepared, packed with provisions and extra fuel, in expectation. And where was the hunter, anyway? Turning, she looked down by the barn, expecting to see a stranger poking around. Nothing. Puzzled, she examined the truck closer. Surely he hadn't slept in it? No one deliberately slept in a truck the night before hitting the trail with days in the saddle ahead. And yet, where else could he be? She approached the driver's door carefully and stretched to try and see through the dark tinted window. Nothing visible, of course. A tap at the window should wake anyone inside, so she gave it a try, and stepped back to wait. A heavy hand dropped onto her shoulder and she jumped hard, biting back a surprised yelp, and swung, her knuckles landing solidly on a hard jaw. The deep male grunt confirmed she'd landed a good blow. Long fingers circled her wrist in a grip that promised to easily crush the small bones if she resisted. Frozen in place, Kate glared up. And up, past a strong throat, beard-shadowed jaw, unsmiling mouth, and straight nose to meet a startlingly green glare.
"I'll let go if you promise not to hit me again."
Kate nodded willingness to comply and took a fast step back as soon as she was free, while her lower body clenched in sudden tense awareness. "Who the hell are you? And why are you parked by my house?" Dammit, she sounded flustered and breathless, rather than stern and commanding. Damn hormones picked the most ridiculous and inconvenient times to wake up and kick her ass.
His lip quirked a little, as if he could read her thoughts as clearly as the newspaper. "Sorry to startle you, ma'am. I'm Jakob Barger. We spoke yesterday evening I think?" He waited for her nod of recognition. "I pulled in after two and didn't want to disturb your stock, so I parked up here. I hope that's okay?"
The combination of gravelly voice and contrite attitude set more hormones on the rampage by way of thundering her pulse through her pelvis. "Kate Holt. Sorry for the… uh," she brushed a hand over her own jaw to indicate the reddening mark on his. "I don't normally go around hitting perfect strangers."
The same long fingers that had circled her wrist gently probed the red mark. "Couldn't prove it by me." A sudden sheepish grin broke the tension. "I don't normally go around startling harmless women either, so I guess we're even. If you'll show me where to park my rig, I'd like to let my animals stretch their legs while I get everything ready."
"Of course. Can I hitch a ride? I'll help you unload." No way he'd get that big-ass rig parked without someone directing him either, but she didn't say that.
"Thanks." He efficiently loaded his animals back into the trailer, then rounded the front of the truck in long easy strides and opened the passenger door and stood waiting. Evidently he meant to hold the damn door for her to climb in.
Kate gave a little shrug. Whatever floated his boat, as long as he caught that lion, made no difference to her. Except he stood there watching her. "You know you don't have to hold the door for me, right? I can manage that little task for myself." Annoyance crept into her voice.
Reacting to what he probably thought was her resistance to being taken care of in any way by a man, Barger raised his hands and stepped away from the truck. "Suit yourself." He crossed back to the driver's side.
Kate took advantage of his attention being elsewhere to get to the passenger door. Now why the hell did she need to hide her limp? She never bothered with it, and he would see it sooner rather than later anyway, while she helped him park and unload. Certainly not vanity—she'd long ago given that up, settling for neat and clean, or hardworking when that wasn't possible. So what on earth had her hiding her weakness from Jakob Barger? It wasn't like she had even a remote chance in hell at getting his attention, or even truly wanted to, despite the uproar he'd put her hormones into. Still, it might be nice to have a man like him of her own. Tall and solid with muscle, handsome in a rough sort of way, and evidently quick witted. Kate shook the nonsense from her head and climbed into the passenger seat of his truck, realizing the error too late. The warm musky scent of healthy male blended seamlessly with horse, leather and hay, and stood up to introduce itself, much to the delight of her libido. Oh shit, she was in serious trouble here. Thoughts of a week or more on the trail alone with owner of that scent did something funny to her stomach.
He climbed behind the wheel and started the truck, and blasted the interior of the truck with a combination of hard beat and screaming guitar. He hurried to turn the volume down. "Sorry, forgot it was so loud." At least his scent no longer consumed her awareness.
"What the hell was that anyway?"
Jakob glanced at her as he backed the trailer slowly toward the split in the driveway. "What do you mean? You've never heard Metallica?" When she shook her head, he stopped the truck a moment to fiddle with the CD player. "This is called 'Enter Sandman'. One of my favorites. Listen?" When she nodded again, he turned it up to just above normal listening volume for her.
The catchy tune quickly gave way to the hard beat from earlier, and a growling voice blended perfectly. "Say your prayers little one, Don't forget my son…" Kate listened, captivated, as something in that voice reached into her and gripped a part of her she hadn't known existed. By the time the last notes trailed away, she knew without a doubt, she'd found something entirely new and unexpected.
Jakob watched her, not hiding his knowing smile. "Gotcha." His exact duplication of the growl on the CD sent a shiver down her spine. "Not what you expected?" His voice had gone back to normal, but her newly trained ear picked up the sinister growl hiding within the gravelly tones.
The shudder of appreciation wasn't easy to conceal, but Kate thought she managed it fairly well. "Not at all. I've never been interested in that kind of music. Always just turned the dial as quickly as possible."
"Hang around me a while. I'll show you something far more interesting than what you're used to."
The way his gaze swept over her features, paused at her breasts, and continued downward said he fully intended the double meaning. Okay, she really needed to change the subject. The lane to the barn appeared, offering the perfect opportunity.
"Go forward and bear left here. You'll round the barn to the right and pull around back. I have a shed back there if you'd rather park under cover, or you can park just to the side of the shed."
The truck stopped and Jakob nodded once before putting it in gear and following directions. "Do I get an answer now? Or do I have to wait until I catch you a lion?"
"An answer to what?"
"Will you hang around me enough for me to show you some interesting things?"
Oh…boy. Every more severe epithet she'd ever known fled right out of her head. So much trouble. "That—" She had to pause and clear her throat to get the breathy, wanton tone out of her voice. She tried again, "That depends." Better.
"On what?" The grin he flashed her way said he knew all about the pulse that suddenly pounded her core.
"I haven't decided yet." It was a good thing he'd stopped the truck behind the barn, waiting to see where he should go next. She opened her door and bailed when self-preservation demanded she get the hell away from all that overwhelming maleness. The man absolutely oozed sex at the moment, and she wasn't equipped to deal with that sort of assault on her senses. Nothing in her life had prepared her for that.

~MY REVIEW~

This is a quick read about two people, Jakob and Kate, who find each other at a turning point in their lives. At the time they meet, neither is looking for, or expecting to find, love. Fairly well-written, the story pulls the reader in from page one and then keeps a nice pace while the leads feel each other out, until neither one can deny what is happening between them any longer. The supporting story of catching the big cat who is destroying the local rancher's livestock numbers provides a solid base for Jakob and Kate to build on.
While Big Game was ‘in production,’ the teasers and online build-up I saw gave the impression that this was a BDSM cowboy story. While I saw the barest whispers, suggestions if you will, of Lifestyle elements, most readers will likely miss them altogether. I’m making mention of this because, if, like me, you pick this up hoping for some kinky trail scenes, you aren’t going to find them. That’s not to say there are no intimate moments, there are, and they are quite well-executed, just not enough to label this a D/s tale.
I’d like to commend Mr. Lowe for going in and adding the post-release ‘bonus chapter.’ The extra content was definitely needed to round out the story and give a nice finish, otherwise the reader would’ve been left scratching their head looking for the rest of the story, and I would've been docking a star.
A great debut release, I foresee great things for Mr. Lowe in the future if this is where he is starting. His style is already good, and he can only get better.

Exclusive Blog Tour Interview with Jakob
We're here with Jakob Barger, main character of Big Game: Hunted Love #1, by Aden Lowe, to get a little insight on the book and what might be in store for Kate and Jakob in their second book, at the end of the Hunted Love series.**Jakob, I gathered you spent a lot of time with your Uncle Frank as you were growing up. Were you close to your parents at all?Jakob: My dad was killed when I was ten. He was a firefighter. But yes, I was close to him. After he died, Uncle Frank sort of stepped in to help my mom. She was devastated without my dad. I grew up hearing stories of how much they loved each other. **What were you thinking when you first realized you were falling for Kate? Jakob: Part of me was terrified. I knew she was at least attracted to me, but I had no idea if it was more than that for her. I was also relieved in a way, to know that the kind of love I'd heard of all my life actually could happen more than just that one time. I'd always been afraid it was some kind of fluke or something, and certainly never expected to care that much about anyone. A lot of people go through life without even hoping that can happen to them. Hell, most of the guys I know don't even give a damn, and I probably wouldn't either if I hadn't heard those stories as a kid.** What was it about Kate that initially got your attention?Jakob: Hahaha, her fist. Seriously, I'm not really sure. I think it was partly her strength, but she was also this really odd mixture of innocence and experience… It's hard to explain. The closest I can think of is when people say someone is 'wise beyond their years'. Only with her, it didn't apply only to the big 'life lesson' things, but to every single facet of her. I have a thing with puzzles, can't resist them, and to me, she presents the ultimate puzzle. I'm willing to spend the rest of my life trying to figure her out. And there you have it. Don't miss the next installment of the Hunted Love series, Bounty, due out in a couple of weeks.

MY REVIEW

Reyes’ storytelling abilities continue to grow with each new release of hers and Teasing Hands is no exception. While there were a couple of plot points that I had personal issue with-- underage drinking on a college campus and an older man putting the full court press on a barely-21 year old girl-- I can’t deny that these things do happen, and Reyes pulls it off by bringing the reader into her tangled web with an effortless, emotional yank.
Amanda is an independent young woman, part of a championship winning basketball team for the University of Miami, and determined to maintain full control of her life. She’s been burned by the opposite sex before, and isn’t in a hurry to have it happen again anytime soon.
Camden is the mysterious hot older man, masseuse, and tempter of fate where Amanda is concerned.
The catch? While one wants commitment, the other wants to avoid commitment at all costs. Too bad you can’t control your heart.
Reyes could’ve made this tale all about the hot schmexing, but she’s gone further, bringing in a slew of supporting characters-- friends and family-- that keep the reader guessing what’s going to happen next.
For my own sake, I’d have liked to seen a cleaner edit job on this, but overall, I promise you won’t be disappointed if you like an engaging fast paced romance. Well done, Ms. Reyes.

~INTERVIEW WITH T.M. FRANKLIN~
If I gave you an elephant where would you hide it?
Why would I hide it? I’d ride that sucker everywhere. Imagine the looks I’d get at the Starbucks drive-through! “I’ll take a grande skinny latte, and 57 venti cappuccinos for my friend, here.”
If you were a cookie, which would you be?
Something with caramel and pecans – because I can be sweet, but let’s face it, I’m also pretty nuts.
Do you like dogs or cats?
I like both, but prefer dogs. Cats are jerks. They don’t care how many treats you buy them or how nicely you pet them, they’ll still pee on your pillow if they feel like it.
If I came to your home and looked inside the refrigerator, what would I find?
A rotisserie chicken, some milk, iced tea…and a bunch of stuff that I should have thrown out a week ago.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Forty. I know that because my husband bought me a shoe rack that holds forty pairs of shoes and suggested that before I add a pair, I get rid of a pair.
I have yet to agree to that suggestion.
What was the best thing before sliced bread?
Bread. I like bread, sliced or not.
Do you speak with your dog?
Doesn’t everyone? It’s when they speak back to you that you know you’re in trouble.
Do you know how to drop an egg onto a concrete floor without cracking it?
Actually, yes. My son had to do that project for science class last year and was successful. But if I told you, I’d have to kill you.
Why isn't the number 11 pronounced as onety one?
Because life is illogical and unfair.
What kind of music do you like?
Anything that makes me smile. Unless I feel like crying.
Which is your favorite genre of movies?
Anything that gets me caught up in the story – but nothing scary. I don’t do scary.
What kind of kid were you, naughty or nice?
Usually, pretty nice. If I had to do it over again, I’d be naughty more often.
If given complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose and why?
I’d be a writer. I love it.
What is your idea of fun?
Hanging out with friends and laughing a lot.
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Definitely a night person. I don’t think mornings should be allowed to exist. It should be nighttime until noon. Can we start a petition?

If you haven't read the first two books, now is the time - all three books are ON SALE for a LIMITED TIME on select platforms!

Clamping her eyes on the wash of tears that threatened, Ireland ignored the wailing of her heart … and laid a palm to each of their cheeks. One lone tear snuck between her lashes at the cascade of tingles seeping up her arms. “You can’t blame them for not understanding,” a familiar voice drawled behind her. She spun as he neared, leaving Rip and Noah wheezing for breath—or, more likely, completion of her task. Techno-colored flowers bloomed in a colorless world each time the sole of Ridley’s shoes met the earth. The crisp cut of his white, tailored suit was accented by a burst of color from the button-down shirt beneath that changed in hue to match the species of flowers that sprung to life. Hydrangeas blue. Orchid purple. Lily fuchsia. Rose coral. As he neared, Ireland noticed his eyes morphed to match as well. The result hypnotic. His haggard and troubled façade was a thing of the past. The man before her exuded confidence and a zest for life from every pore. The draw of which was so magnetic Ireland had to fight to keep her feet planted while her body insisted she close the distance between them. “To them this is a thrill, a game of chicken against the Reaper himself.” Ridley paused beside her, his shoulder skimming hers. Even then he didn’t grace her with a glance, his attention fixed on Rip and Noah. Tipping his head toward her, the warmth of his breath teased over her breast bone. “For us, it’s destiny.” The moment he stepped away from her, the chill of solitude lashed at Ireland’s soul and cut deep. Bending eye-level with her withering subjects, Ridley pursed his rose petal lips to blow a soft, healing breath over both of them. Wan complexions of the dying were ripened to plump apricot. Both men blinked away their disappointment before dipping in a low bow—foreheads to the ground in a show of respect. “No need for that, boys.” Ridley smoothed the front of his suit coat, a self-depreciating chuckle playing over his lips. Neither humbled servant budged. “You’re like me?” Pacing in a slow circle around him, Ireland’s eye narrowed. He matched her steps, leading them in an intimate waltz normally reserved for predators—or lovers. “Like you?” He tsked. “Oh no, my darling flower. There is no other like you. Our only similarity is being pawns in a game that began centuries before either of our fathers got an amorous gleam in their eyes.” Ireland’s gaze lingered over the soft curve of his mouth, wondering if his lips could possibly taste as delectable as they looked. “How do we play?” Curling one finger into a ruffled tuft of her skirt, Ridley pulled her to him. Bowing his head, he brushed his cheek over the delicate curve of her collarbone. “The game is already in motion,” he murmured. “The rule sheet not meant for our eyes. All we can do now is stay alive.” Ireland weaved her fingers into his hair, yanking his head back with a passion driven force that bordered on violent. “I’ve taken lives. I’m a monster,” she snarled against his lips, tormenting them both with the agonizing veil of energy that denied their touch. His hand snaked up her arm to find her fingers and loosen her grasp. Palm to palm. Fingers entwined with fingers. “Does granting it make me any better?” Ridley didn’t give her time to answer. With one hand pressed to the small of her back he crushed her to him. Their lips met with a desperate urgency that caused Heaven and Earth to quake in nervous anticipation of what was coming …

When Ash Stone (pen name) was born she was cute, cuddly and blue! Fortunately by the time the journalists arrived to take photos her, she was no longer blue. She made headlines in the local papers for being the only Christmas baby to be born that day in Aliwal North (South Africa). That’s right! She is was born on Christmas Day 1974. Before you say “Aw Shame” and break out the tissues, please know that Ash is a Christmas Diva! She always gets her two presents or else!
She is the second eldest of four daughters to a mother who was an accountant. Her father was a high ranking police officer in the old Apartheid regime, meaning he sat behind a desk and drank tea all day. They moved around a lot whenever her father was promoted to a bigger desk with better tea. As a result Ash did not have many friends and found her escape in books.

Ash’s first writing experience was when she had to write an essay to Toyota South Africa, in order to be chosen for their Toyota Edulink Program. She wrote a very detailed and motivational essay about how she was going to be the Managing Director of Toyota one day. After they undoubtedly had a good chuckle, Ash was chosen as the the only girl to represent all the Afrikaans schools in her province. She went on to be chosen for the Toyota Junior Achievement Programme and became the Managing Director of the company they had set up. The company made a profit and naturally Ash was tickled pink! Ash was chosen to remain in the Toyota Edulink Program for a total of three years. Whilst in her final year at school she also joined another program and studied Journalism and Drama at the Westville University. After graduating high school, Ash went to study Business and Marketing Management as inspired by her father who had left the police force long ago and started his own property investment firm. Being a typical rebel, rather than joining the corporate world afterwards, Ash became a vegetarian hippie instead and went into a gardening/ nursery business with her mom. The irony of a vegetarian plant lover is still lost on her to this day. Even though Ash never became the Managing Director of Toyota South Africa, she had enjoyed success in every aspect of her life. She is an award winning Horticulturist and won another award for a display when she represented South Africa in the 2000 Amsterdam Hortifair. Among her many occupations, Ash was more notedly the Purchasing Manager for McDonald’s Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa region. These days she is not a high flying corporate Exec or a vegetarian hippie, but internal sales at a local Mining supplier during the day. At night, she runs her own blog tour company, is an Admin of the Author Association ASMSG, a Guild Reviewer, a book blogger and self confessed Facebook addict.
She lives in Alberton with her childhood-friend-turned-husband and their two sons where she enjoys breaking all the rules with her writing. The eternal rebel loves to connect with her fans (or “Stoneys!” as she calls them). So, go on you rebel you!

On her way to work, she noticed a very glamorous looking coffee place. How convenient, she thought as she entered and stood in line. In front of her there was a queue of about seven people. They all looked like young corporate types and portrayed the impatience and self-importance typical of their generation. Part of her was glad to be back in civilization. The last time she had been here, she had spent a night with her parents en route to the new job. There was no time for ‘meets and greets’ or any reunions back then. "You're not stalking me, are you?" Behind her Tay managed to surprise her yet again, but it only took a breath for her to regain her composure. "Hardly, I work across the street, so that leaves the stalking title to you," she replied slowly and calmly without looking at him. She could feel the enjoyment emanating from him as his warm, minty breath caressed her cheek. His fragrance turned her on. He was leaning into her making every follicle in her body respond. There was an electric chemistry she felt just by his presence. It delighted her and excited her like nothing before. "I've gotten my morning coffee here every day before work for the last ten years," he responded way too pleased with himself.

"Good thing we are not dogs, or we'd be marking our territories right now," she quipped back with a smile on her face.Amused by her response, he offered his solution. "Or we could start a new tradition and have coffee together every day before work.” "Next!!" A shout came from behind the counter. A young lady with way too much make up on stood there waiting for Silka's order. "I'll have a regular coffee, please," Silka pointed to the menu. "And I shall have a Latte along with that," Tay duly informed the clerk and threw a bill of an impressive denomination on the counter as he positioned himself next to Silka. After she gave them their coffees, he took Silka by the hand. "Please sit and have your coffee with me?" he implored her with a look of anticipation normally seen on a kid about to receive his birthday present. He wore a dark suit and blue collar shirt with a matching tie. His tidy hair, clean shaven face and that suit made him look like a million bucks. Bloody hell he was Godly. He was by far the most striking man she had ever seen. His looks made her heart contract, let alone her uterus. “Five minutes!” She raised her eyebrows sternly, but then smiled. She followed him to a table in the far corner. Taber pulled out a chair for her. She took a seat and leaned back with her coffee in one hand. Sitting opposite her around the very small, square table he couldn't help but stare at her. How had he not recognized her? How had he never noticed how stunningly beautiful she was? More importantly where had she been? His mind flooded with questions. What had happened to her in the last fifteen years? Who had happened to her most of all? She had a maturity about her which was way beyond her youthful looks. She sat looking at him, gently sipping her coffee, smiling slightly and slowly blinking. She had always been confident, but he had never thought of that confidence as being sexy. To him her confidence was arrogance when he was young. Since he had become an adult he realized how wrong he had been. The caliber of women he dated was far from confident, trusting or loyal. They were insecure, jealous, whiney, clingy little girls that loved him only as long as his credit cards were at their disposal. Which reminded him: "How did you get Amber so spot on? She was highly impressed with you."Silka gave a huge grin. "I had my fair share of gold diggers. Amber will be anything and everything you want her to be, until the day you marry her. That is when you will see her true colors." She suddenly realized that this was nothing new to him, although he looked as if he had just discovered a turd in his coffee. He leaned back in his chair. "What have you been up to all these years?" he asked boldly. "Why don't you tell me about your side first?" she requested looking as if she could melt a polar ice cap. "Fine. Graduated high school, obviously, fulfilled other obligations, spent a gap year traveling the world, finished university and then went to work for my dad. Spill it!" he shot a challenging look back at her as he turned the tables. "Love to, but I am running late for work," she said glancing at her watch. He paused for a second. "Very well," he smiled smoothly. As they stood up, he followed her towards the door. "Same time tomorrow?" he asked. "Only if I get the next round. Thank you for the coffee." "Not a problem," he said as they stepped onto the pavement. For a moment they stood there staring at each other. She smiled suddenly, and turned to cross the road. "Bye, Tay." "Bye, Silly," he yelled back. Sure enough he stood there watching her glide into the building across the street. Climbing into the back of his chauffeur driven car, Taber wondered if she had taken offense at the mention of the name he used to pull out of the box regularly to rile her up. It got her every time. Silka used to hate being called Silly. She hadn't heard that name in ages. It used to make her angry, but hearing it out of his gorgeous mouth today made her smile. His mouth was all she could think of as she headed out the elevator, into the parking garage, and drove out to the place she really worked at, in the outskirts of town, in a car that was not really hers, no less.
