Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:“Do you have a boyfriend?” I don’t meet his eyes. “No.”“Why not?” he wants to know.“Do you have a girlfriend?” I retaliate.“I don’t.”“Why not?” “Point taken,” he concedes. We’re sitting and staring at each other when Davis puts his hand on mine. He clears his throat in preparation to speak. A wave of anticipation washes over me, and I subconsciously hold my breath like I’m deep sea diving without an oxygen tank. He’s probably not going to say, “Ashley, I’ve known who you were since the moment I saw you in the nursing home. I’ve secretly loved you since high school and wanted more than anything to tell you the depth of my feelings ever since, but I was afraid you’d turn me down.”I’m fully aware I’m having some kind of mental break here, so you’re just gonna have to bear with me. I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to declare, “You’re the woman of my dreams and I long to hold you in my arms until the end of time.”Chances are he won’t conclude this imaginary monologue by picking me up and carrying me out of the restaurant so he can take me to his house and ravish me. But the bottom line is that we’ll never know because just as he opens his mouth, a voice behind me says, “Davis Frothingham? My heavens, how long has it been? You look positively wonderful!”Davis’s eyes move upward as he sees my unwelcome ghost from adolescence past. “Jessica. I didn’t know you were back in town. Are you visiting for long?”“No, sir.” I can hear the interest in her tone as clear as day. “I just moved back to Creek Water. I thought for sure Beau would have told you.”If Beau is involved, that probably means she’s buying a house, which would mean she’s not planning anything temporary. Crap. Why the heck is everyone coming back?“Welcome home,” he tells her. Then he motions toward me. “This is …”But before he can say my name, she looks at me and declares, “Oh hey, it’s you, from the bathroom!” She’s as excited as if I were a long-lost sorority sister. “Hey,” I somehow manage while my throat constricts in terror. The Jessica Holt I know from high school would full on poop a brick if she knew she was being nice to FelAshleyO MoanRow. The good news is that Davis never said my name, and Jessica is so self-absorbed she doesn’t seem to care who I am. The waitress comes over and delivers several plates including the filet, a lobster tail, and a caesar salad. As delicious as everything looks, I’m not sure I’ll be able to eat a bite of it. “Do y’all work together or something?” Jessica asks once our food is situated. How insulting. She should assume we’re on a date considering our close physical proximity—side-by-side, not across from each other— but the thought doesn’t appear to occur to her. I let Davis answer the question. “I work alone, carving furniture,” he says, not offering any other explanation.“That’s right,” Jessica declares. “I have a couple of clients I’d like to send your way. Maybe I can stop by your workshop sometime this week.”“Sure,” Davis replies. “I’m on the first floor of the Creeky Button Factory. Just ring the bell and I’ll let you in.”“I can’t wait,” she enthuses. Then much less excitedly, she adds, “I guess I’d better get going. We just finished dinner and my folks are waiting in the car.” She lingers as though Davis might invite her to join us and perhaps even offer to take her home afterward. I can’t let that happen, so I boldly put my hand on Davis’s arm and announce, “Don’t let us keep you. Have a good night.”Davis’s mouth turns up at the corners into a lopsided smile like he’s trying to keep from laughing out loud. Then he tells his ex-girlfriend, “It was nice seeing you, Jessica. Have a good night.”Jessica does not look happy. I want to take out my phone and snap a picture of her, so I can enjoy her expression at my leisure. Being that wouldn’t paint me in the best light, I don’t do it. But oh, boy, if I did, I’d print a hundred copies and hang them all over my trailer.

I know I need to make sure everything is alright, but damn it if I can’t pull myself up off this floor in the tiny closet me and Michael used to call our own.I look up and see his fatigues. Tears prick the back of my eyes as a burn quickly rises in my chest. It’s not possible.A little more than 6 months later and I still can’t believe he is never coming back. Never coming home to me and our son and will never get the chance to meet his daughter who came just three short weeks after his passing. It’s quiet in my mind for the first time in hours, but the noises that rage out in our little living room have me finally pushing myself up off the carpet and slowly putting one foot in front of the other. You have to hide from your own children? What kind of fucked up mother are you? Michael would be so ashamed.I shake my head and try to will the voice to stop as I blink back the tears that finally decide to fall and I make my way over to Olivia in her highchair. Hanging over the edge, she is screaming at the top of her lungs while her little brother, Liam, spins in circles in front of her with his favorite truck making all sorts of loud noises.Wiping my eyes, I pick her up and try and steady my nerves.Quiet. The voices are quiet. But for how long, I wonder as anxiety kicks in and I walk with my daughter in my arms to sit in Michael’s favorite recliner. The tears fall harder as I clutch my daughter to my chest and swear I can almost smell him, hear him, feel him in the small house we used to call our home.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / KoboEXCERPT:With less than a minute on the clock, Gavin Knox faked right and threw the ball to his running back. His teammate’s gravity-defying catch took place in the end zone, resulting in their game-winning touchdown. As the band played the school’s fight song, the student body of Michigan Institute of Technology flooded the field.Letting out a ferocious howl, Knox snatched off his helmet. For the second time in a row his team was headed to the championships. With only one more year left in college, Knox looked forward to the Heisman Trophy Ceremony and a single digit position in the professional draft. It may have seemed arrogant on his part to assume that he had a right to any of those things, but he had worked his ass off. He had mapped out his whole career since the age of twelve. In his freshman year of high school, Knox had transferred to America from Canada to secure his spot in the pros. He’d then followed it up with enrollment at a Big Ten college.Intending to get drunk off his ass, Knox scanned the crowd for his best friend, Hawk. On his way past a couple of his teammates, he slapped their heads as he moved closer to the stands—and that was when he saw her. A chocolate-colored honey ran straight at him. Her letterman jacket showcased her body-hugging, tight sweater and perfect tits. Since she was focused on something over her shoulder, Knox felt safe to peruse her banging-ass body without judgment. However, once she turned those big, almond-shaped eyes in his direction, his whole world came to a sudden and glorious halt. Shiny black curls bounced up and down, framing her heart-shaped face. Simple and utter perfection barreled straight at him.As she licked her full lips, instant wood clouded his mind. Even if he wanted to, he couldn’t seem to stop himself. Fate had other plans. Flashes of what life would be like if he didn’t talk to her propelled him into action. Knox reached out to snag her around the waist, bringing the beauty inches from his mug.“Where did you come from?” he asked her.Confusion shuttled across her stunning face before she tilted her head to the side and smiled. “Nowhere.”“So you just fell out of the sky?” It might have sounded lame, but he meant every word of it.“Technically, you grabbed me. So, what happened here?” She checked out the field. “Did you win something big?”“If the answer’s ‘you’, then sure.” As he looked into her eyes, he almost forgot the last few minutes of his life.“Do you mind?” She glanced down at the ground. “The air’s kind of thin up here in Giantsville.”Though he was reluctant to let her go, he set her down.“So, what…? Are you like the main guy?” she asked, looking totally serious.Knox laughed. He couldn’t help it. Obviously she didn’t care about football. “Something like that.”“Which makes you a supastar, right?”Positive that she didn’t have a bra on under her soft, cream-colored sweater, he desperately wanted to feel her body against his one more time.“Are you going to tell me your name?” he asked abruptly. She glanced over her shoulder at something. For a split second he wondered if she had a boyfriend, but, truthfully, he didn’t care.“And make it easy for you? No, but”—she raised onto her tiptoes and Knox leaned down to meet her halfway—“dream about me, okay? Then just maybe…” The warmth of her candy-scented breath heated his cheek.Tempted to tip his head down a little farther to intercept her lips, he froze and hit the dreaded blue screen.“Hey, man, congrat-u-fucking-lations!” His friend Hawk grabbed him in a big bear hug. When the melody of her laughter kicked him into gear, he realized that the beauty had disappeared.Knox searched the crowd but couldn’t find her. “Where did she go?” he asked.“Who? What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t see anybody.”Positive that she’d given him a hint to her name, he ran through the possibilities in his head.“The press wants to talk to you. Then we’re going out to celebrate.” Hawk patted him on the back and led him toward the locker room. Still shell-shocked by his encounter with the hottest girl he had ever laid eyes on, he reluctantly followed his friend.

A MacNaughton Castle RomanceBook 1 – Deception and DesireBook 2 – An Allusive LoveBook 3 – A Bonny Pretender
Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:Reaching the street, he squinted through the drizzle in time to see a dark form dashing toward him, head down against the light rain.Smack! The woman collided with Lachlan. He spread his feet to maintain his balance as the slate-colored gown and pelisse crumpled before him. Without thought, he swept her up before she hit the wet ground. Her straw bonnet was askew, tiny droplets of rain sparkled in her pale blonde hair, and long lashes spiked like jagged crescents against her smooth cheeks. Her alabaster skin gave her the appearance of a fine Greek sculpture, except for the pink spreading across her cheeks. When her lids fluttered open, clear gray eyes blinked owlishly at him. Mesmerizing was the first word that came to his mind. He was unable to tear his gaze from the exquisite face.A wet angel, he thought.“Oh,” was all the angel said, a sheen of moisture covering her skin. A hand went to her neck – a long and graceful neck.“Aye,” said Lachlan, though it sounded more like a growl to his ears. Her warmth seeped into his upper body, and he squelched the urge to toss her up and resettle her closer to his chest. She trembled slightly; her full, pink lips slowly turned up in a half-smile. A single drop of moisture clung to the corner of her mouth. It beckoned to him, dared him… Lachlan dipped his head and brushed his lips against her velvet ones, his breath catching at his own audacity. The rain swathed them, their damp clothes sticking to slick skin, diminishing the barrier of her cotton dress. Her chest rose and fell, pushing against his own. Those liquid silver orbs blinked again as he raised his head and went wide with surprise, accentuating their dark outer ring of black. Then her feet kicked against his tight hold. His gaze traveled down her legs, long shapely limbs molded by her damp skirt, then back up to the bonniest face he’d seen in years. Carefully, Lachlan set her down, gripping her elbows to give her some support. She was slender but tall for a female, the crown of her head just at his eye level. He wouldn’t get a crick in his neck looking down at her. Aye, he’d like to spend more time… exploring that face.

BOOK BLITZ: Bait N' Switch by Abigail Owen #GIVEAWAY

Bait N’ Witch
Abigail Owen
(Brimstone Inc. #3)
Published by: Entangled: Amara
Publication date: June 15th 2020
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Rowan McAuliffe has been hiding most of her life. Secretly trained in her powers by an unusual source, she’d been taught not to trust anyone. Especially other witches. However, after she was forced to perform a hateful act against her will, she now hides from the Covens Syndicate and their judgement.Greyson Masters is the Syndicate’s best hunter. On top of the danger of his job, Greyson is trying to raise his triplet daughters alone, budding new witches who display an alarming combined power no one understands. Too bad he doesn’t have a clue how to deal with them.Until Rowan walks in and the chaos settles for the first time in…well, ever.Little does Greyson realize that his new nanny is the very witch he is hunting, and she’s been hiding right under his nose this whole time.
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / Google PlayEXCERPT:Her gaze dropped to his mouth, and tension filled the spaces inside him like a curtain of electricity. Awareness, impossible to not call what it was.Rowan snatched her gaze away, and his head cleared enough for the realization to seep in that he hadn’t smiled, truly smiled, since his wife’s death. The thought struck hard and he rubbed at a spot on his chest as his mind transitioned from turned on, to shock, to aggravated at himself in the space of seconds, left buzzing with emotion either way.Pulling his own gaze away, he cleared his throat. He shouldn’t be letting his nanny affect him this way. “I should’ve guessed Delilah would send me someone more than capable.”“I don’t know about that,” she muttered under her breath. “So all of it was a test. The burnt dinner?”Greyson grimaced. “Yes.”“The girl’s running away?”He nodded.“What about their fight this morning?”Another grimace. “That was real.”“And your attitude?”He frowned. “What attitude?”She peered at him for a long moment, and Greyson got the uneasy impression she found him wanting somehow.“Never mind,” she murmured. Was she placating him?“Are the schedule and the expectations of me the same?” she asked.“Yes.” What was wrong with his schedule? Her mouth pursed, but she nodded. “Fine.”“So you’ll stay?” Oddly, Greyson found himself holding his breath for her response. An hour in her company, surrounded by her wildflower and honey scent, and part of him wanted her to stay. So unlike him, he brushed that wayward feeling aside with irritation and waited for her response. She sighed. “I don’t have a choice.”The words, or maybe the way she said them, triggered instinct honed over years of being a hunter. “What does that mean?”A strong emotion flashed in her eyes. If he had to guess, he would’ve said panic, but the expression was gone so quickly he couldn’t be sure. Then she offered a sweet smile. “It means you clearly need help. So, yes, I’ll stay.”Greyson levered to his feet. He needed help, did he? “I’ll be in my room if you need me. Good night, Rowan.” Her name felt strange on his lips. Right and wrong at the same time.“Mr. Masters—” She stopped him at the door, and he swung to face her, eyebrows raised in question. She didn’t bother to get up. “Don’t test me like that again.”Or what?“Remember…observations can go two ways.”Did she just imply she was observing him? Before he could snap out a question, she stood and turned off the TV. “Good night.”Greyson headed back upstairs, coming to terms with a rare experience. He’d been effectively dismissed by a woman who happened to be his girls’ nanny. Most women rushed to please him. Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:Geoffrey was always telling me I possessed enough talent to earn a living photographing people. While art was my life, my photography was just a hobby. The pieces that surrounded me at the gallery—that was real art. Working for him and Andrew at Mountain Time Art was my dream come true. Any images I might have been able to capture through my lens was just good for the soul. It wasn’t unusual for me to lose time in my work. Without even realizing it, I whiled away the entirety of the afternoon editing photos. My apartment was quiet, save the click of my mouse as I sharpened and cleaned up images. It was peaceful. A loud knock on my door jarred me from my solitude, and it was then that I became cognizant of the time.I eyed the small plate beside me, sprinkled with the crumbs of a muffin long forgotten, and a pang of hunger hit me. It was like the world stood still for a while, and a single knock brought me back to reality. I was pushing myself up onto my feet when another round of rapping sounded against my door. This time, the announcement was followed by his voice.“Freckles, it’s me.”The sound of him made me quicken my pace. I twisted my locks free and swung open the door without hesitation. “Hey, you.” I gave him a quick once over in an effort to get a sense of his state of being. It was unlike Geoffrey to look anything other than stylishly disheveled. He was quite handsome, in a very aryan manner. He had a head full of blond hair, which he wore in such a way that was messy but sexy at the same time. He also took exceptionally good care of his body. I called him my Viking, because he was built like one. Except, in that moment, he just looked broken, dressed in a pair of old sweats—his blue eyes sad and red-rimmed.“What are you doing here?” I asked him, not unkindly.“Last night, he was a fuck face,” Geoffrey mumbled. “Today—well, he’s still a prick, but he’s my prick. And he’s gone. But—I can still smell him in the bed, and see him in the shower, and hear him in the kitchen and I just…”His words trailed off, but I didn’t need him to say any more. I reached for the paper sack in his grasp, then took his hand in mine as I pulled him inside. “What’d you bring me?”“A pint of coffee ice cream. The vanilla’s for me.”As I shut and locked us in, he made his way to the couch. I trailed after him and peeked into the bag. A quiet chuckle tickled my throat when I spotted The Notebook, Crazy, Stupid Love, and Blue Valentine keeping company with our ice cream.“Babe, you know you don’t like these movies, right? Are we just ogling Ryan Gosling tonight?”He shrugged when I looked over at him, and that was all the answer I needed.“Okay. Well, we should probably order in,” I informed him as I headed for the kitchen. “We’ll get sick if all we eat tonight is ice cream.”“Pizza’s on its way. Double pepperoni.”I stopped and peered back at him from over my shoulder. He wasn’t looking at me, his attention zeroed in on his lap, but I didn’t need to see into the windows of his soul to know how badly he was hurting. And yet, in spite of his pain, he had brought my favorite ice cream and ordered my favorite pizza. He was right. Reeve was a fuck face, with no idea who he’d thrown away.
