So Diana tell us…
1.     Being a new author, you must be flying high right now. So tell us, how does it feel having your first book published at Siren? Flying high is a great way to describe it! It’s very surreal and hard to believe but also very exciting.

2.     So, according to your author page, you’re married with kids. How do you separate family life from erotic romance life?
Writing and research ;) have to wait until the kids have gone to bed. Although I carry a notebook everywhere so if I’m waiting at dance practice or something I can write there. And occasionally I just lock myself in the computer room and growl at intruders.

3.     Publishing that first book is a big hurdle for many authors. How does it feel to have that monkey off your back?
It’s a big relief! Although I recently submitted a second book and I found the waiting was just as nail-bitingly intense as before.

4.     What was it that told you, “Hey, write about Menages?”
I honestly had no idea these books existed until I was looking for other erotic romance books online. So I bought a couple and read them and thought, “I can do this.” And the ideas just started popping into my head.

5.     Where does all your sexual inspiration come from?
I’d have to say it’s a combination of experience, fantasy, and reading/watching erotica (hubby loves that part)!

6.     Most readers believe the more hot steamy sex the better! In some cases, readers would like to believe that if the author can write it, therefore she must live it. So tell us…was there a scene that was inspired by none other than Diana herself?
Well, some elements of a couple scenes were inspired by real life events, but there is no one complete scene that is autobiographical!

7.     You have chosen to delve into the M/F/M Menage scene. What is it about a threesome that tickled your fancy?
I think if most women are honest with themselves, the idea of having two men at once is extremely exciting, at least for fantasy if not reality. To have two (or more) men devoted to nothing but your pleasure? Heavenly!

8.     When writing the heavy sex scenes, how do you keep yourself inspired?
This is harder (ha ha) than I thought it would be. At first I figured, it’s sex, how difficult can it be? But not having a lot of firsthand experience with some of the things I write, I have to look to other authors and my husband’s “under the bed collection” for assistance. He’s more than happy to help out ;)

9.     What’s in the future for Diana MacArthur?
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my second book will be published by Siren in January 2013! That one is called Nadia’s Catch.  Also, it’s NaNoWriMo and I’m trying to get a 50k word novel written completely in a month – easier said than done since I’m doing a lot of blogging, plus I have an Evil Day Job, plus family responsibilities get in the way. But I am determined that I will finish it! I also have a load more ideas that I plan to turn into books eventually. Hopefully you’ll see a whole bunch of additions to my author page at Siren!

Wednesdays Rants...

Welcome to Wednesdays Rants. This Wednesday's Rant is brought to you by the makers of Folgers Coffee...cause let's face it, it's the only thing that is keeping me warm...      Well folks, I don't know about you, but where in the world has that warm weather run off to? Burr...it is really cold outside. As I sit here on this chilly Virginia morning, I am wondering what it would be like to live near a warm sandy beach, with crystal clear blue waters and the glorious warm sunshine. Sounds like heaven right? Well, I thought so...     Anyway, most of you know I am not a cold weather person. Don't get me wrong, I love winter, really I do, but unless there is snow on the ground, I really don't see the point of wet, dreary, overcast cold days. Bring on the Snow! Let me have something pretty to look at for all my troubles. Besides, Thanksgiving and Christmas, sometimes winter seems to drag on and on and I get tired of wearing every stitch of clothing in my closet just to sty warm.     You see, I am not cold weather proof. When the temp drops below 70 degrees, I freeze. That's when I break out all my cold weather gear. Now, for those of you who live up north, your probably thinking why in the world is a woman who lives in Virginia, crying about the cold, well let me tell you...Its my Husband's Fault that's why!     Married for over 18 years, I just happened to marry a man who was born and raised up north. He loves the winter months, actually thrives on them. So, when the first freeze makes it's way down here, while I am bundling up, my hubby is stripping down! Sometimes, I wonder if he may be as crazy as bat shit on Sunday, but that's another rant for later. Back to toady's rant...     Like I was say, hubby strips down to tanks, and shorts while I am searching desperately for those electric long-johns my kids bought me as a gag gift three years ago...(can I just say, BEST GIFT EVER!) There is not enough coffee, hot coco or tea in the world to keep me warm. To make matters worse, the Temperature Police (my hubby) strictly checks the thermostat daily to make sure I am not jacking up the heat...cause let's face it, ya know damn well, the moment he leaves for work, my frozen ass is running to set the thermostat at 75 degrees. I mean seriously, I live here too...right!     So, for the next four or five months, depending on where you live, try and stay warm this winter. If you find yourself drinking a hot cup of coffee, or sharing a cup of hot coco with your kids or Friends, think of me...and my frozen misery as I fight to survive another winter season.

1.     Where does all this inspiration come from?
I don’t know. Anywhere and everywhere, apparently. I’ll look at something, read something, or just be driving or walking somewhere and a light bulb comes on. I think it’s pretty neat. I laugh at myself all the time and go, “Where did that come from?” I’ve yet to answer that question, though.

2.     Your characters are vibrant and colorful. You give them a life like quality. Have you ever run into someone who reminded you of one of your characters?
Not yet, but there are some of characters I wouldn’t mind meeting in person. <grin> I have done it the other way around, created a few characters that spawned from people I’ve met.

3.     I see from reading your author page, that you’re married. What does hubby think of these hot, sexy men you write about?
Eek! I’ve got to have that author’s page changed. Then again, maybe not. I’m actually not married anymore, but I’m probably on my way again in the near future. My new honey (two years old new now) chuckles and rolls his eyes when I talk about my hot, sexy men. Sometimes he’ll tell me a “real” man wouldn’t really do...fill in the blank...and I tell him in my female fantasy world he’ll do it or I’ll write him off. LOL

Hmm, good question! Let’s see...I wouldn’t say there are any full scenes, but parts to many. My honey and I like to experiment. He’s also dominate and I’m submissive. It makes for fantastic research! While I haven’t used any complete scenes, there are bits probably in every sex scene I write that comes from experience.

5.     You have only written two Male/Male books, “Saving Stakes” and “What His Cowboys Want”, are you planning on anymore male/male books in the future?
Hehe Funny you should ask that. I submitted my third Male/Male/Male novel a couple of days ago to Siren-BookStrand. It’s titled Going Under and will be book 9 of The Heroes of Silver Springs series. I also have a couple of ideas brewing for more Male/Male novels in the coming year.

6.     When writing the heavy sex scenes, how do you keep yourself inspired?
I research with my honey and Google, though not at the same time. <grin> I like to find new toys or outfits or whatever else I come across to play with and let my characters get creative. When writing one erotic novel after the other, it can be a challenge at times to keep the sex scenes different throughout each book. Discovering new things or locations keeps it interesting for me, the characters, and the readers.

7.     What’s in the future for Tonya Ramagos?
Write. Write. Write! As I mentioned above, I just completed Going Under [The Heroes of Silver Springs 9] and I will be starting Chelsea’s Rescue [The Service Club 5] on Friday. I don’t have specific plans after that. Usually the new ideas hold off until I’m nearly through with one before they start pounding at my brain for attention.

            Thursday’s Title…
 Welcome again to another Thursday Title episode.  Today we have none other than the wonderful Jillian Chantal. So please sit back and enjoy.
      Thanks, Rebecca, for having me here today to share a little about my novel, “ Sebastian's Salvation” . I’m excited to share a bit about my inspiration for the hero in this book.      
       In my writing process, I usually visualize the hero before anything else. In this story, I had the actor Idris Elba in my head. He’s a wonderful actor and I love him in pretty much everything I’ve seen him in. Check him out on sometime if you get a chance. I’m sure you’ll be charmed like I was.

       Sebastian's Salvation is a contemporary romantic suspense based mostly in London. There are a few scenes in France at a ski resort and I thought it might be fun to share an excerpt snippet of one of those. Since the characters are eating chili, as a change from a blog post that merely shares an excerpt and since it's still cool in some places, I thought I'd throw in my crockpot chili recipe. It's easy and no fuss for those lazy days.

Lady Joanna Gresham, nursing a broken heart and used to getting what she wants, sets her sights on having her portrait painted by Sebastian. Once she meets him, she wants him for herself. She pursues him, intent on winning him. What she didn’t count on was a stalker who wants to harm everyone Sebastian holds dear.
 
 Excerpt:
Hugh waved Sebastian over to the seat next to him. “Come sit over here, Hughes. Saved you a spot.”
Sebastian took the seat and sat his tray on the table. “Thanks. Appreciate it.”
“Least I can do is save you a spot here on this end with the men. I bet you have women hanging over you all the time.” Hugh jerked his head in the direction of the other end of the table where the women sat.
Sebastian looked in the same direction. “Is that a bad thing?”
The other men at the table laughed. Sebastian crumbled crackers into his chili and dug in.
Joanna, from the opposite end of the table, yelled down to her brother, “What are you laughing about?”
“Just Sebastian’s poor life of naked women all around.”
“We’re all clothed now, Elsanor.” Joanna looked at her two friends and laughed.
Sebastian looked up from his chili. “Bet I could get any of the three of you naked in two minutes flat. All I’d need is a paintbrush in my hand.”
Victoria blushed as Joanna looked him in the eye from her end of the table. “Best watch out with the bets, Bast. You already lost one to me today.”
Sebastian raised one eyebrow. “Did I, now?”
“You know you did. I beat you down the hill best out of three runs.”
“And what did you win, Lady Joanna?”
“The right to have you paint my portrait.” Her face registered triumph.
“You mean the right to get naked in front of me?”
Joanna and her two friends both gasped.
Sebastian took a bite of his chili and once he swallowed, he looked at Hugh and asked, “See? All it takes is a paintbrush. Want me to teach you?”
 Recipe:

• 2 pounds ground turkey or beef
• 1 cup chopped onion
• 4 large garlic cloves, chopped
• 1/2 cup green peppers, diced
• 1 cup chicken broth
• 2 teaspoon dried cumin
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1teaspoon chili powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1 can refried beans
• 2 15 to 16oz cans of kidney beans (not drained)

In a large skillet, brown ground turkey or beef and drain.  Add all ingredients to crock pot except the can of refried beans.  Cover and cook on low 2 hours.  Add refried beans to chili for thickening.  Cover and cook on low for an additional 2 hours.
