178: Joe Mechlinski – Shift the Work – Move from Apathetic to All In
All in. What does that really mean? Can you be all in one aspect of your life or business or does it only apply if you are all in with all aspects of your being?
At various times in my life I have felt all in with everything. When I am all in, magic seems to flow out of my every being and positivity is the outcome. The last ten years or so not so much. I have had moments of all in but to be honest, I do not really think it was really “All In” since it latest just a moment.
So how do you know if you are All In, Part way in or not even close?
My guest today has not only written the Wall Street Journal bestselling book on how to be All In, Shift the Work: The Revolutionary Science of Moving From Apathetic to All in Using Your Head, Heart and Gut, he lives and breathes it. His life’s work is to help businesses, people and communities become all in in all aspects of who they are and what they do.
In a no holds barred interview Joe shares how he believes the world can change via one All In at a time to move life and business for everyone from apathy to positive shift.
It was a joy to reconnect with Joe after many years. Take a listen and see if you can hear the moment I realized somewhere along the way I lost my own personal all in to me and how he helped me begin to bring it back.

176: Douglas Vermeeren – Personal Power Mastery
I quote Think and Grow Rich in my book, What Would a Wise Woman Do? and its ideas still hold true yet the world has changed significantly since Napoleon Hill researched and wrote his groundbreaking book. How does one improve upon perfection? They research 400 successful and not so successful people from all walks of life and write a new book that shows you how you can increase your personal mastery.
I love reading books because I want to shift my perspectives and perceptions of what I think I know to what I need to know. Personal Power Mastery by Douglas Vermeeren is such a book.
Douglas Vermeeren has been on the personal improvement scene forever it seems and his work doesn’t grow stale because he is willing to ask and answer the tough questions. In his latest book and workshops he helps readers and attendees release that which no longer serves and embrace a new and empowered thinking.
During this episode he explains why positive thinking is actually negative thinking and how neutral thinking will sink you to the bottom quickly.
We have a conversation about Choice and how you always have choices even when you think you don’t.
Douglas Vermeeren’s search for success strategies took him into the offices of the founders and CEOS of such companies as Nike, Reebok, Fruit of the Loom, FedEx, American Airlines, UGG boots, Uber, KFC, McDonalds, Disney, United Airlines and Microsoft. As a result, ABC Television and FOX Business are referring to him as the modern-day Napoleon Hill.
He is also the producer and director of three out of the top ten personal development movies ever filmed, the author of three books in the Guerrilla Marketing series and a regular featured expert on FOX, CNN, ABC, NBC, CTV and CBC and others.
Currently, his program Personal Power Mastery is rated as number three in the world for the most powerful personal development seminars. And now his new book Personal Power Mastery will take its place on the list if international bestsellers.

Well my guest chose to create a business raising awareness through handbags, of the #1 killer of women in the world, heart disease. 173: Kateri Ruiz – MAIA.Community – $20/month = $37.7 million in one year
Did you know that if each woman in America spent $20/month at a woman owned business that would put $37.7 billion into the hands of women-owned business? That amount is more than all the venture capital given to women-owned businesses in 2017. Crazy isn’t it?!
My guest is making it easier for you to spend that $20/month. She has created MAIA.community. A directory website with profiles of currently over 700,000 women owned businesses.
Rather than just give lip service to supporting women Kateri Ruiz has devoted her business to growing women owned businesses.
Take a listen as we talk about how she decided to create her business after declaring she sold her soul in corporate life.
At MAIA, our mission is to change the status quo on gender equality at the highest levels of leadership. We are women-conscious consumers and we’re creating the first free access searchable platform of woman-owned businesses in the United States, 13 million and counting. As the CEO of your life, does your purchasing power align with your values?
My personal challenge is 83% – 5 out of 6 people in my household are female. 83% of our household spending will go to women-owned companies, and women-created ventures. When women are involved equally at the highest levels of leadership, where we ideate, create and make decisions, we have the potential for our products, our services, and solutions to truly represent all of us.
If each female in the U.S. spent $20 a month at a woman-owned business for 1 year, they would drive $37.7 billion more to women-owned companies than all Venture Capital funding did in 2017. Your money matters, use it to make a difference!
I also sold my soul for corporate America for 17 years. I had full P&L responsibility of $42M. website: maia.community

172: Kevin Murphy – The Three Rooms
Live in the now. Be present. Don’t borrow worry from tomorrow. Don’t dwell in the past. We’ve heard those phrases over and over for most of our lives. Easy to say . Not so easy to always do.
Our reactions to the way ideas are presented can vary by who we hear them from and even when we hear them. When Kevin Murphy was introduced to me and I read his book I knew I had to have him on the show. He presents a unique way to look at something we have all heard before that I hope can help.
During the show Kevin shares how you can observe your thoughts, the three rooms, what questions to ask to know what room you are in, is it ever ok to visit the past or future how stress is based on the room you are in and more.
If you want to stay in the present more, reduce stress and perhaps even have a happier life and business, take a listen.
Kevin Murphy is a former Wall Street managing director for Citigroup, high school and collegiate wrestling champion, community activist, speaker, coach, and author of the book The Three Rooms.
These experiences have given Kevin a unique and eclectic mix of understanding human nature. He noticed that our happiness and unhappiness in life is always the result of our thoughts – whether observations of the present, memories from the past, or projected fears about the future. Combining this theory with the deep personal insights he attained along his own 20+ year spiritual journey, Kevin stepped away from the corporate world to write the book The Three Rooms, in which he explains how observing which room your thoughts are in, can change your experience of life.
The Three Rooms invites you to start the process of better monitoring your thoughts—while providing you the keys to transform your life by doing so. As Kevin notes, those thoughts merely affect our health, our wealth and our relationships.
