Flying Red-Eyed 'Gargoyle' Suddenly Vanishes in Rockford, Illinois

I recently received a telephone call from an elderly woman ('SS') in Rockford, Illinois who witnesses a winged humanoid in 1999, along with her husband and a close friend.

The incident occurred during the summer, in the early evening when there was a full moon. The trio was relaxing on the friend's front porch, which was located on Willard Ave. W, near Auburn High School and Cottonwood Airport in Rockford, Illinois.

During a conversation, the friend stopped talking and began to stare across the street. SS looked in the same direction, and noticed a dark gray winged humanoid slowly flying near a large tree. SS stated that it seemed like the being 'was in slow motion' as it glided toward the tree. The friend said 'do you see that?' The witnesses were close enough to notice that it had small cat-like ears and intense red eyes. There were no other facial features visible. It was quite muscular throughout the body and had 2 defined legs, and had arms that attached to the wings.

She stated that the winged humanoid was 7ft in length with a wide wing span. The wings were like those of a bat with a leather-like membrane. Apparently the being perched in the tree, but again took flight. This is when SS's husband took notice. The winged being was gliding towards a pair of large pine trees, as it's legs were 'kicking up and down' while in flight.

The being flew between the 2 pine trees, and then suddenly 'vanished.' SS said 'gargoyle,' and her friend acknowledged 'yes, a gargoyle.'

After the incident, SS stated that they seemed to have forgotten the encounter until a year later when she asked her friend if she remembered the sighting. Her friend said she had, but had also forgotten the incident.

SS's son told her about the recent reports and suggested she call me. He was also aware of the winged humanoid sightings in the Chicago area.

NOTE: this is the 2nd sighting of a winged humanoid in which it suddenly vanished. The other sighting was in Chicago, a few blocks from Wrigley Field. This is also the 5th sighting in the Rockford, Illinois area. Local 'Phantoms & Monsters Fortean Research' members will be following up with the witness. Lon

Possible Upright Canine in Louisiana Swamp

“Never seen clearly, but around 1992 while hunting a swamp just before dark here in Louisiana I was stalk hunting while wading through knee deep water. I seen water movement through some very thick hedgerow like brush. At first I believed to be ducks so I sneaked up to the edge of the brush for a clear shot, but when I got there I could see movement through the thick brush 6ft over the water and at the same time there was small wakes in the water coming through the brush ever time it moved. I was less than 10ft from this animal and I could hear it sniffing the air. It suddenly froze still when it picked up my scent.

We were frozen in a noiseless standoff for at least 2 minutes! It couldn't see me but it was looking for me because it knew I was very close. I knew this was something weird and my situation wasn't good, so while mostly hidden I slowly and quietly over the course of a minute or so replaced the bird shot in my 12-gauge with three 3" magnum 000 buckshot. When I raised my gun to ready fire it seen me, and when it did I believe it thought that I was closer than it expected because that thing screamed like a wild hog being killed X10 - very, very hair standing loud. It then suddenly leaped several feet out of the water and about 12 or so feet out into deeper water of about 8-10 foot deep. In that instant when it jumped I could see it's back or something slightly above the brush, it had spiked hair. When it landed in the water it sounded like a 300+lb animal splash, it remained under water until it reached the other side of the slew, when it came out on land I couldn't see it. I then made a huge circle around the animal to try and cut it off in an ambush. I wasn't really scared because even though it was God knows what, I knew I scared it more. I mean I sneaked up less than 10ft of this thing and it had no clue I was even there until it winded me! Besides at that range a 12-gauge with that load of shot is like being shot 10 time with a AR-15 in one spot. A 12 gauge load like that can put a hole the size of your fist through a wild hog, that's an animal that has one of the toughest hides on the planet. There's nothing on this Earth that will survive very long with a rib cage shot from that load at that range. I knew this already, that's is why I give chase to animal.

Anyway I tried ambushing with no luck, I wanted to continue hunting it, but all I had was a small pocket light and it was only about 10-minutes before total darkness. Before I set out of the swamp I looked and found its tracks. I found K9 like tracks about 4-5" wide and 6-7" long, they were Bipedal tracks set about 6ft apart due to the animal running. There's a lot more to the story but I will leave it at this for now. I gathered enough info about this animal over the years that I'm convinced it can be hunted and killed. It walks on 2 legs and has K9 like feet, so it's what ever you want to call it. I just know it exist, and I see it more an animal than a monster!” - Kimberly Smith

Room 301

Marion Lynne wrote to tell of his bizarre experience:

“I was working for a company based out of Hopkinsville, Kentucky in the Fayette, North Carolina office. The Fayette, North Carolina office was being downsized and my position was being moved to Hopkinsville. No problem. Neither state is my home state and my wife is from Iraq so no real ties. And it gives her a chance to experience other places. So we take a trip and let her see the town.

I get a room at the Hampton Inn Suites where I have stayed enough to get platinum status. Nice, clean hotel with a nice little Mexican restaurant. You can walk too, and have a Margarita. We got room 103. We drive around and eat, unpack, shower and watch TV. We turn off the light and everything is cool.

She's sleeping and the bathroom light comes back on. It has a motion sensor on it, so I get back up, cycle the light, and go to bed. About 2:00 AM, the light comes back on and I get up, cycle the light, shut the door. No problems, I'll just tell the maintenance in the morning. About 3:00 AM, I have what I think is a nightmare. A rolling, black mass that covers the floor to the ceiling and coming out of the bathroom reaching for me. About five feet from the bed, I wake up screaming, crawling backwards towards the headboard. My wife doesn't wake up, which is weird. I have a Surefire Flashlight on the nightstand, so I fire it up and nothing is there. I can see the bathroom light is on again. I go back to sleep writing it off as due to stress.

I tell maintenance about the light issue. I come back from my office, my wife says they came by and replaced the switch. Problem solved, right? No. Not really. We were there three days and I had the same exact experience each night and my wife woke up one of the nights moaning in her sleep. I didn't say anything about what I was seeing and she just said she wasn't sleeping well. She hates hotels and is from Iraq and is not really used to a hotel stay. So once again, I kept my mouth shut not wanting to look like an idiot.

We got back to North Carolina just fine and we were watching a ghost show on television, and I said, 'Babe, when we were staying at Hopkinsville, did anything weird happen while you were sleeping?' She said, 'Yeah.' I asked, 'What happened?' She said, 'I saw a black cloud that was taller than you. That looked like it had snakes in it and arms that reached towards the bed.' I explained that I had seen a very similar thing. And she was like, 'I was scared to say anything because I was afraid you'd laugh at me.' This was real to both of us.

I came back to stay a couple of months later by myself and requested the same room, just to see if it would happen again. When I requested the room, I was told it was being remodelled because of water damage. That's plausible. Two months after this I was meeting one of my editors from North Carolina to help her get checked in and go out to eat. Knowing the front desk folks, I asked about the room again. I asked if she could have Room 301. She smiled at me and said, 'We turned that into a storage because of a parking lot noise.' I asked, 'Are you sure people haven’t complained about something else?' She just smiled at us. So draw your conclusions.”

Bayou Segnette Bigfoot

I recently received a telephone call in reference to a Bigfoot encounter in Louisiana. The eyewitness 'RD' was camping in Bayou Segnette, southwest of Marrero, LA in Jefferson Parish. This was in the last week of October 2018, just before Halloween.

That evening, while in his tent, RD heard a blood-curdling scream come from the direction of a cow pen that was located several hundred yards from his location. His impression was that a cow was being attacked...it was a sound that he has never heard before.

After an hour or so, close to midnight, he heard heavy footfalls moving through the surrounding vegetation. He exited his tent and directed his high-powered spotlight in the direction of the water. He noticed a human-like figure crouched along the water's edge, seemingly drinking and eating something. The figure was about 50 yards from the witness. RD yelled out to the being...as it stood up, turned and looked in RD's direction.

The witness was terribly startled at what he saw...an 8ft humanoid that was covered in matted reddish-brown hair. The ape-like face and huge hands were dark colored. About this time, RD noticed the foulest odor he had ever experienced...comparing it to a animal corpse that's laid in the sun for a week. He literally began to gagged.

RD bolted toward his 4-wheeled ATV, leaving his gear, and sped away from the location. He stated that he gunned the ATV so hard that he literally seized up the carburetor after a mile or so.

The witness states that he has hunted and removed problem alligators in the area for many years and has never been afraid of the bayou...but he swears that he will never go back to the location.

RD's fearful demeanor was quite genuine when I talked to him, and he doesn't wish to be identified. He is willing to point investigators to the location, but only on a map. Lon

'Winged Humanoid' - 2017 Report - Rockford, Illinois

I recently received another winged humanoid sighting report from Rockford, Illinois. This is the 4th sighting in the area within and around that city. This specific incident occurred in the late summer of 2017...around the same time the Chicago reports were coming forward.

The eyewitness 'KJ' states it was approximately 6am and that she was on the outside porch. All of a sudden she observed a human-like being walking in the yard of a house on the corner of Bruce St. and Woodlawn Ave. in Rockford, IL. (about 1 block away). The being suddenly produced a large set of wings and took flight, gliding over the back gate of the property. It then disappeared into the trees and foliage on the next block. There was enough morning light available for an excellent observation.

She had trouble comprehending what she had seen, and immediately went back inside the house to tell her boyfriend and his mother what I had seen. She described the being as tall and dark, almost black. The wingspan was very broad.

I was able to briefly talk to the witness about the incident. She was apprehensive on coming forward, until she was told about the other reports in the Rockford area by a family member. She had no knowledge of the Chicago sightings.

'Gollum' in the Desert

“A couple years back my girlfriend and I had an encounter out in the desert off-roading late one night with two strange 3 1/2 ft beings that looked like Gollum from 'Lord of the Rings'. My girlfriend was the one that noticed them first as she was shining a flashlight around and saw two sets of yellow eyes 30ft from us up on the hill side peeking around a rock at us. She told me to stop and look and that’s when I saw them as well. We sat there for about twenty seconds looking at them, then one stepped out and started slowly making steps towards us. My girlfriend motioned for me to leave the area and as we did she said they started moving quickly towards us. After whipping a quick u-turn and punching it back down the trail, my girlfriend suddenly said what the, 'F is that?' and I look in the rear view mirror and saw a bright flash of light come from behind her. I asked my girlfriend what was that because she was looking behind us the whole time and said a bright ball of light just shot up into the sky from their direction and disappeared behind the clouds. We were both freaked out and even though I had my gun on me I was still scared. I still think about it from time to time and over-think the situation and scare myself just thinking about it.

Second Story: Three months ago I woke up Brown 2:30 AM turn went to the kitchen to get a drink and as I turned the corner to the kitchen, a bright flash of light hit me then all of a sudden I felt confused and proceeded to get a drink and went back to my room. As I lay down, I looked at my phone and noticed it was 4:05 AM in the morning. I sat there trying to figure out what just happened and how two hours was just lost. The family in the video began to sing Happy Birthday, and while this was happening........... out of the birthday cake a slow brown alien-type face with a balloon shape was stretching out of the cake with solid black eyes and a solid black smile. It was transparent too. I saw this on the TV vividly and was so young, that I just didn’t know at the time that what I was seeing was not something normal. I was in complete awe and fascination, but said nothing about it and was just more confused than anything. I wasn’t at all scared though nor got any negative feelings from looking at it. My family in real life and the one in the video were laughing but obviously made no notes or saw anything that I was seeing. To this day , I’ve never told my parents this as they would dismiss it as just being weird and that it was likely just a dream or something.. but man do I remember that clear as day. Lastly, what’s even more crazy is I am certain at that around that same age I saw a rerun of that episode.... and SAW THE SAME BEING again! I almost knew it was going to happen before it happened again. And what’s weird is again, I never thought it to myself to say anything to anyone while it was happening or thereafter. There’s definitely something about a young child and what they are perceptive to that somehow gets lost as they get older.” - Cam H

Alien 'Grey' Entered Through Bedroom Window

I recently came across the following account from Adams County, Illinois which occurred on the night of August 16 2011. No witness information was provided:

The report states that the witness was lying in bed with his dog at his feet. His bed was located under a window. The neighborhood was quiet and it was dark out late at night in this suburban neighborhood. He then saw a yellow-orange light that was thick and blanketed everything. He could see through the light, but it covered the complete view from his bedroom window. It did not affect his eyes like the sun does. He also heard a strange humming while watching the light trying to figure out what it was. He had never seen anything like it before. He is not certain how much time passed, but it was neither seconds nor hours; maybe 20 minutes or so as he was stunned by this light display. He was scared and closed his window as he peered out into the light.

The light then disappeared and everything was in view again like normal. He could see the house across the street and see the street lights lit up dimly as always. He then heard a noise at his other window just 8 feet from his bed. He looked as his dog began to growl (he is protective and a watchdog). He went to rise from the bed but suddenly froze. He was frozen stiff, just his eyes could move and the witness could see his breathing was heavy as he growling, but still stiff as a statue. The witness panicked and looked back to the window where he heard the noise. He remained in his bed by his dog’s side.

He saw a hand coming through the screen as it must haven punched a hole through the screen. He had the window slightly opened as always. The hand was grayish and smooth with long fingers and strange bulbous joints and fingertips. The witness was terrified as the screen was then pulled out and the window lifted further. A creature then crawled into his now opened window and crouched in the window staring at the witness; his dog still frozen and growling. Somehow he knew that the creature had some kind of power to do this to his dog. It was a small creature, grayish all over, smooth skin all over with large almond like eyes, black eyes that protruded; they almost looked like glass. There were no pupils, just pitch black eyes. The head was the ‘typical’ alien head as described by other witnesses. Tear-drop shaped and larger than expected in proportion to the small body, it had long very thin arms. The feet were long and it began to climb down from the window slowly as it stared at the witness, never blinking. The witness was terrifying but was not sure if he was paralyzed. He thought of running for the door but changed his mind, as he could have never made it past the creature to get to the door.

After the creature began to climb down from the window the witness doesn’t remember anything else until he woke up in the morning with everything seemingly normal including his dog (a 70 pound Rottweiler). He ran to the window remembering the night’s events and the window was raised up all the way, which he never did. The screen was lying on the driveway below his window. He ran downstairs to the driveway to look for the hole in the screen and sure enough the small punched through hole from the creature was there. A day later he noticed a raised bump on his wrist. The skin was white in the raised area, it was rounded and small.

“I remember when I was about 4 years old in 1978 having an encounter very similar to this (a seemingly alive cartoon character), I've never talked about it for fear of being ridiculed. My mum put me in my bedroom to have an afternoon nap and I can fully remember playing with what looked like 'Donald Duck.' I know your probably laughing now thinking how dumb but I swear it really happened. I remember one minute I was happily playing and then the next minute being absolutely terrified. It seemed to turn on me and start screaming and shouting and I remember banging and banging on my bedroom door screaming for my mum to let me out, because I couldn't reach the door handle. My mum had moved it so that it was near the top of the door and unreachable. I can honestly still remember how terrified I was because this was one of my earliest memories. I never told anyone because who would believe that something looking like Donald Duck would be scaring me in my room. I would sound like a lunatic if I talked about it but I swear this happened and nobody has to believe me. I just wonder if anyone else out there as encountered anything like this and as been to scared to talk about it and maybe after hearing that it's happened to other people they might come forward and talk about it.” - Kenella

Visited by the 'Count'

“I've been waiting 36 years of my life to hear a story close to mine and my twin brothers. Our visits started in 1981 when The Count from Sesame Street came. My brother and I shared a room. We were still in our cribs but we were old enough to climb out if we wanted. I was awoke one night to my brother crying, barely speaking English - we had our own 'twin language'. I asked him what was wrong!? He pointed over to my side of the wall. As I looked, there was the 'Count' standing looking at us both. He went on to tell us many things. He was friendly. I know he was telling us not to be afraid and info about our futures. No matter how comfortable he was trying to make us feel, my twin was not having it. He was afraid of it. Being the stronger twin all my life and with no fear I was worried for my brother. I climbed out of my crib to go get help. As I went to flick the bedroom light on, I startled this 'entity'. It ran towards the wall turning into its true form a 'Grey'. Then morphed into a black blob and left underneath the dresser. Many events happen in this story going forward but that would be long to write. In the end this wasn't talked about until we were around 10 years old. I asked my brother, 'Was it a dream or was it real? Did he remember it?' My brother looked at me in shock and said, 'Yes, I remember it as well like it was yesterday!' I know for us this has lead to many years of events for us. W have been waiting, searching, for someone that had an experience like ours. I felt like I knew this entity like it was family to me. I feel we will meet again in the future.” - Holloweyes NHL

'Tentacled Being' Came at Night

Ken wrote to tell of a weird experience he had:

“I have to share this creepy and bizarre experience that happened in my life about six years ago. I used to tattoo and live out of the back of this house in the city of Rosemead, California. During this time, I was going through a very confused and depressing state in my life. For some reason, I kept this back house shielded with black-out curtains to keep any light and sound out out of fear of neighbors knowing I was running a business out of my residence. For some weird reason, I painted my bedroom three shades of grey on the walls and the ceiling was black. I used to hear many sounds of things moving outside in the kitchen and living-room area. During the night, I could see this moving, misty shadow float across my bedroom wall but I shrugged it off once I ruled out it wasn't a gas leak.

One night I woke up in a very calm and relaxed state but I found myself floating above the bed with my feet barely hovering off the mattress. I knew I wasn't dreaming because I was aware of all the items in my room and my eyes were scanning around. I found my body floating gently back down onto the bed but was suddenly slammed down onto the mattress violently, as if somebody put his hand across my face and pulled me down. It felt as if I was in that state of sleep paralysis. To my horror, as I looked to my side; I could not move my face or body but with my eyes, I clearly saw the silhouette or the shadow figure of this creature. I saw the clear defined sharp pointed nose and as crazy as it sounds the silhouette of this tentacle for an arm with all suction cups clearly defined. Its other arm held my head down to the bed and pulled it, as it was trying to make me look back at the ceiling and, in shock, every inch of my black ceiling was covered with this bizarre looking hieroglyphic as if it were painted in wet substance. In my head, it was the color of blood as it was hard to make out in the moonlight shining through my window. I felt as if the entity was trying to tell me something. With all my energy, I willed myself out of this paralysed state and once I blinked my eyes, it was over. No writings on my ceiling. No creature. Everything was gone.

A few other weird things happened after this incident, especially at night and sometimes even during the day but nothing that tops that crazy night I told you about. I'm not sure if there is a dark history in this residence or if I'm just haunted myself because I've seen things in every place I've lived. Friends don’t believe me, thinking I was under the influence of something but I wasn't. I was completely sober. I know what I witnessed.”

Haunted Car in Yellowstone / Alien at the Door

“I was on a delivery around Yellowstone at about 3am around 10 years ago. I was alone on this long stretch of road with snow piled super high on each side when I noticed an automobile's headlights appear back behind me about a half mile back. The headlights disappeared and I thought they must have turned or something. No sooner did I take my eyes off the rear view mirror and the headlights were right on my bumper and were so bright it was almost blinding to the point of looking at a welder flash. I was in a panic because there was no way that car could have caught up to me that quick and why were those damn headlights so bright. I slowed to let the car pass but it stayed behind me no matter how slow I went. Eventually the car swerved into the left lane and slowly started to pass. I kid you not, there was NOBODY driving that car. I was petrified. It stayed beside me for at least a minute. It was an old car like a 50’s model Chevy or Ford with the big wings on the sides and huge chrome bumpers. I was only going around 20 miles an hour and because the moon was bright and there was snow I could clearly see inside the car. I could see the lights in the dashboard and there was nobody driving, NOBODY. I just couldn’t seem to grasp what was happening. All I could do was scream out Oh my God!! There’s nobody driving!! There’s nobody driving!! over and over. I was a mess. The car took off like a rocket and I mean LIKE A ROCKET and was gone. The car's tail lights just vanished up ahead. I was shaking and had to stop in the middle of the road for about 10 minutes to put myself back together. Simply horrifying is all I could say about that incident. Thanks." - Terry Rich

Alien at the Door

John in Oregon called in to tell of his alien encounter:

“I actually had something awaken me when I was five years old and it was standing in the doorway. It was pointing something at me and as soon as I thought about moving, I heard a click. It was only about half the size of the door and it was all black. Hopefully other people hear this and it sparks a memory with them but I was five years old... (Clyde Lewis, the host, asks about the clicking noise) Yeah, a clicking noise. As soon as I thought about doing something, or moving, getting up out of the bed, I had the hall light on. I was scared, you know, I was five years old. So I keep the hall light on. As soon as I thought about moving, it made a clicking noise and I knew I better just lay there and I fell back to sleep and I just laid there. The next morning, when I told the family, it didn't matter what I told them they wouldn't believe me. To this day I know something was there and it doesn't matter what anyone else thought. And it looked more robotic or machine-like. If there was no hall light on, I don't think I would have seen it. (Clyde asks again about if they were machine-like) Yeah, if anything, it was small and stealthy, just black and I knew not to move.”
