Flying 'Batmobile'

One moonlit night in winter at 7:20 PM, a practical, and down-to-earth retired solicitor’s clerk, Miss Bertha Humphries of North Walsham in Norfolk, stumbled upon the inexplicable. She recalls... “It had been snowing heavily, and when I took my little dog for his evening walk, the ground was thickly carpeted with snow, so I decided to go for a short walk down one side of the road and up the other”. Sooty was on a lead, and at the bottom of the Mundesley Road (where she resides) near to Crows Lane, they crossed and returned on the other side, walking slowly because it was slippery underfoot. She recounts... “I glanced ahead and at the top of the road where it swerves at the bend I saw a dull, red glow moving above the ground from side to side.

“At first I thought it was the rear lights of a car reversing. Then the glowing still persisted moving, I thought possibly it was snow spots I was seeing, just as one sees sunspots. I rubbed my eyes – we walked on. Then I stopped and stared, as the object had now emerged from the narrow part of the road and was floundering along.

It was a jet black oblong shape, dark and bat-like, and in the centre was a circle of dull red light. I stood still, mystified, when the next thing I knew it was coming towards me slowly and taking up the complete crown of the road...

When it reached the wider section of the road, near the Orchard Gardens public house, it floundered and fluttered and slowly rose into the air across the open space until it reached the housetop level, the red circle still glowing and the black shape flapping and billowing like a cloak... Then I observed it was dragging behind, as it were the tail of a kite, a miniature of itself – black, oblong, with a glowing red circle in the centre.

It stayed for a second or two at rooftop level, then with renewed effort shot up to a much higher level, floating again. Then it shot up higher still and disappeared in the clouds. All this was in complete silence as the object made no noise whatsoever, although it struggled hard to get airborne... it would seem that the object got caught in the narrow section of the road, as the red glowing was drifting from side to side.

It was not until it came floundering to the wider part that I could see its shape, which took the form of an oblong sail and it floated towards me.... After it became airborne and had disappeared from sight, a gentleman came along. I asked him if he seen an unusual object in the sky. He unfortunately had been gazing down watching his step, as it was very dangerous walking... He had seen nothing and suggested that the object might be something sent out from the radar station to warn ships... Needless to say, I did not tell how the object became airborne – and that it had previously been floundering along the Mundesley Road!”

She told no one of her uncanny experiences as she was sure that nobody would believe her, but stressed it was perfectly true. She later wrote to the Astronomer Royal about the incident, but no expatiation was forthcoming.

Upright Canine Attack in Northwest Wisconsin

I recently came across the following account:

I am an outdoorsman and very experienced in hunting, camping, hiking, and general survival. I'm very familiar with wildlife, especially locally. I was charged by what I believe was a cryptid called a Dogman. It charged me and my cousin. It was not a bear; a bear cannot move how it did. It was not a normal wolf as they can't comfortably run on 2 legs. Whereas what charged us seemed natural as a biped.

This happened around June or July of 2007 I believe. I was around 17 years old, but knowledgeable of the outdoors. My family used to own a cabin in northwest Wisconsin. I basically grew up there in the summer. I knew the woods well, but at night it was wise to stay in the cabin or at least by the bonfire by the beach, because of bears, wolves, and cougars. One of the creepiest things was if you were having a bonfire, the treeline was visible from the fire pit and beach, and at night you always felt like you were being watched from that treeline. But during the day the woods always seemed normal, not so creepy. That is until this incident.

So this happened somewhere between 1200-1400 hours. My cousin and I were having an Airsoft battle. I was in full woodland camo, he was not. I retreated on to the ATV trail into the woods for a tactical advantage and our battle took us about 200 meters into about a third of the way up the trail. We had enough at this point and were standing at the edge of a clearing on the trail talking and he was maybe 10 feet from me, when I decided to mess with him. I shushed him and said "we're being watched." He froze, then I realized the woods were dead quiet and I got spooked and started scanning the treeline and the other edge of the clearing from left to right. That's when I saw it. Its teeth gave it away. It was panting and staring at my cousin. I don't expect you to believe me, but what I saw was a wolf as big as a black bear, at least 300 lbs, but it wasn't normal. This wolf was on 2 legs crouching next to tree with its arm grasping the tree, grasping with a clawed hand, it had reddish brown fur.

I told my cousin that "we have to go" and next thing I know he is sprinting and I look back at the creature who had locked on and sprinted a few steps on two feet. I turned and ran when it looked like the creature was dropping to all fours. It charged us and sounded right on our asses barreling through the brush, but for whatever reason let us go when we broke out of the tree line and headed for the cabin. What stuck with me the most was the sheer size. It appeared to be nearly 7' tall when upright. It should've had front paws, but it appeared to have large clawed hands. Now I'm not sure how to explain it away rationally. I have heard wolves will occasionally kind of walk upright but as far as I know they can't sprint on 2 legs, nor do wolves get that big. Black bears waddle on 2 legs. The closest description is silly, a werewolf or dogman. I have no idea what this really was. - T

'Men in Black' Threaten US Coast Guard Crew

UFO sighting aboard Coast Guard Cutter Spencer

As per your phone call earlier today, I will restate what we experienced while aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer WHEC-36, (commissioned in 1936 and decommissioned in 1974.)

There is a new Spencer in service, but this is not the one I was aboard. My ship was a 327 ft Cutter. It can be viewed if you Google Coast Guard Cutter Spencer WHEC-36. I have tried to the best of my ability to recall the date, but since we stood so many Ocean Stations, it is hard to remember which of those this occured.

The conditions were warm, seas calm, and sighting occurred during the night. There were 140 mean aboard the Spencer, and a large number of my fellow crewmen witnessed what I did. Officers and enlisted men saw what I saw.

I remember a ((specialty deleted)) had some state-of-the-art photo equipment. I think he had an Olympus camera with telephoto lens. He was at least one crewmen photographing this UFO. We were in the middle of the Atlantic, all running lights on as usual.

I remember someone saying come on deck, there's a UFO. The UFO had bright lights that changed color. It was if the UFO was checking us out. A ship with all its running lights on would be easily seen from above in the Atlantic. I was ((specialty deleted)). Some names I remember were fellow ((specialties deleted)). ((name #1 deleted)), ((name #2 deleted)) and ((name #3 deleted)). I can't be sure they were aboard for this Duty, but I'm sure at least one was. I can not remember the others.

The UFO would come down hovering above us. We could see what I would describe as portholes. I rotated as it hovered. The lights changed color. Then it would go up in a second becoming very small. Then it seemed to show off, as if it knew we were watching it. It would accelerate across the sky in a split second while doing right angles.

Many photos of this craft were taken with telephoto lens. I remember I couldn't wait to see the photos after they were developed. I never saw them. The show lasted about an hour. Messages of this sighting were sent to Washington, DC.

When we were relieved from Ocean Station Duty, we headed back to Governor's Island, Yankee Pier, where was our home port. We were not expecting the reception that we received. As we were docking, I saw quite a few "Men in Black" waiting to board our ship. Usually after docking, if you did not have duty, we were granted liberty of usually 72 hours. No one was allowed to leave the ship. We were all interrogated one by one by these "Men in Black". We were told to sign an affidavit, stating we saw nothing. We were warned that if we mention this to anyone, we would be gone.

We were told not to go to any news media, and try and tell this story. If we did, we would be prosecuted by the government.

I found out later that my friend, the ((specialty deleted)) had all of his photo equipment, pictures, and developing equipment confiscated. He was not reimbursed for any of his expensive equipment, it was simply taken from him.

I will end the story here, to be brief as possible. Please give me a call at ((number deleted)) my home phone after receiving this, so I know you received it. Please keep this confidential as possible. I'm sure you will. I will research the internent and my old photos, to see if I can get some crew member names.

Bizarre Time Gain After Unexplained Reality Shift

I recently came across this interesting account:

"When I was in my 20's I worked for NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. You know the place with the gigantic blimp hangars? Yep, that's the one. It was a great job with a rotten commute. It took about an hour to go under 25 miles to work. I'm the workaholic type personality so I left even earlier than I needed to every day. One of the great perks was a canteen so you could sit down and have breakfast before things got hectic. An added bonus was it was so cheap that I could afford it every day.

One morning I got up very late. I had to leave about 5:45 to average getting there at 7:00. It was already 6:45. My alarm clock was old and it had finally died. Jumped up, got dressed (like ugh, I look like I slept under a bus) and ran out the door. No breakfast today and my boss had the dubious name of Wolfe Kahle. I don't think he ever got the pun, but he lived up to it. He would corner you at your desk and give you a good 5 minutes dressing down at top volume. At best, I'd be an hour and a half late. Bay Area traffic is known for being bumper to bumper, even though the freeways are 8 lanes across. Anyone from the Bay Area will be saying preaching to the choir at this point, as an aside. Especially on 101 heading north out of San Jose. The later you leave, the more clogged the freeways are. I had to wait at a metered ramp for 10 minutes just to jump on at Cottle Road. Great. I turned on my usual AM station KGO so that I could get traffic updates. I want to stress that they update roads every 10 minutes. In about 20 minutes, I had gone maybe 4 miles. Nail biting panic and worrying for the next 40 minutes until I got up to Logue Avenue exit. It's a clover leaf with a total pain of a merge. I had to come off the freeway, jump 3 lanes left and hit a turn lane with a protected arrow. The whole time I was hearing updates on the time and traffic.

As I merged into the clover leaf I heard a pop of air pressure almost like when a storm rolls in. Now here's the fun part. I hit the clover leaf, sighed and braced for the merge. No traffic. Not one car. It's quiet. I noticed the sky was darker and wondered if there was a storm coming in. The turn light went green and I drove the six or so blocks to NASA. It's darker still and the guard barely glanced at me at the gate. I was used to seeing the same man every day and at least saying hello. This guy looked 'wrong.' If you pulled someone out of 1950 and plunked him down in a mall, you would notice that all of the details are just enough to grab your attention, without knowing why. It hit me so hard that I watched him in my rearview mirror as long as I could. He never moved or went back in the little guard shack. As I pulled into parking lot, this is going to sound very loopy by the way, but my car radio went silent and everything 'shifted'. Have you ever been blindfolded and spun around and gotten very dizzy? It's that feeling. Everything was subtly different. The lot was empty. I sat there for a minute with my mouth open trying to figure out if I had lost my mind.

My car radio suddenly blasted back on and I heard the KGO announcer say "Good Morning, Bay Area. It's 6:29 and traffic is still light. We'll have updates in one minute, but first here's our weather outlook." I checked every station. It was the same. My watch said 8:29. Where did the time go? And did I really want to find out? After all, NASA Ames would have been a good place to monitor if you wanted to see what humanity was up to technologically. The rest of the day went on normally, but I never forgot it." - ETX

The Black Thing by the Creek

I recently found the following account:

Hello I am a 17 year old but this encounter happened about 2 years ago when me and a group of 4 where crossing a creek to go play soccer. Normally there’s 2 ways to get across this creek one is to go through it and just hope rock to rock and another is to cross a large log that was knocked down acting like a bridge.

When we finished playing me and 2 of my friends were coming back and this is when I go the idea to jump scare the rest of my friends. So me and the other 2 agreed and decided to scare them I was about 3 feet away from my friends and right when they crossed the log I heard “OH SH*T!“ They just ran to me and I could hear something in the background breaking branches. I only heard it but they said something all black was running. I was skeptical about it and then I remembered that the other 2 of my friends who we were going to jump scare were not back. Then all I hear is screams and they're running full speed to us and then we just run until we see our neighborhood street. That’s when they said something was chasing them. All black and one of them said he saw it’s head twist like 180 degrees but could not see it’s face and that they thought it was me due to how fast it was running (I was the fastest runner in the whole neighborhood). I told them no and we all said I swear to God this was no prank. Also their faces had a frightened look.

This was not the end because later on that week we explored some medium pipes/ tunnels around 6pm. It was really dark and we heard noises like branches breaking and breathing but the scariest thing was when one of my friends whistled we heard a whistle back. It was not a echo so that made us leave and never go back to that same area.From all my friends this creature was all black maybe 6 ft or up running on 2 and was extremely fast.

There is also a some type of military base near the creek and this took place in North Carolina. - IL

Close Encounter on Interstate 10

“My parents, back in 1969-1970 were on Interstate 10 heading east to Gulf Shores, Mississippi. While driving, around 10:00 PM, this bright light attached to one giant “highly polished bronze vehicle” began descending from the sky in front of them which caused my father to slam his brakes on his truck so he’d not run into it. They saw this large vehicle cover both lanes on that interstate. The giant medium between the westbound lane covering the east lane on that west bound lane which would’ve have made this vehicle's width over 100 feet plus across! Mother was shaking. Being christian, she never ever thought she'd see such a non-human-hands-made vehicle. Dad would say, not one sound came from that vehicle as it hovered in the air never touching the earth. The bright light dimmed and they’d seen people in every window as we’d see people in jet aircrafts when watching jets come and go at airports! Mother said: “These beings looked human yet they shone as a sun would shine, not as bright but angelic-like beings!” They were afraid for what would happen next! Dad's truck had died the moment they saw this vehicle. As they watched, beings walked inside the large windows. Next they saw this craft slowly lift upwards to a height (200’-300’ up) and in a blink of their eyes, this vehicle flew off on their right side and they leaned forward to see how high it was going at a breakneck speed! Next they noticed this large beam came from another (triple the size) larger highly polished bronze vehicle. It attached its beam to the one which hovered over them and it seemed to have sucked this giant vehicle into itself. It closed its giant door and disappeared in front of their eyes! That’s how fast that mothership had sped away. They were relieved when dad's truck began and they drove the next few miles to Gulf Shores not speaking. Not until dad had unloaded his seafood to the seafood restaurant which had been waiting for my father (my parents had owned a seafood shed in Louisiana west of New Orleans which he’d buy these seafood from local fishermen as his workers picked the Blue Crab meat, other workers tenderloin the fishes which came into his factory! I’d been their bookkeeper for their business). Mother was upset with my father for leaving so late into the evening hours but, these restaurant owners wanted their supply so early morning workers and 4:00 AM cooks could prepare the seafood for lunch and dinner hours. Normally my brother and friend worked for my dad and delivered the prepared seafood but one was ill so dad knew he’d have to do the delivery. So, hence; they were on the road to see an out of this world being ship. Méria. PS: Both my parents are in heaven now. They died in their ‘90s’.” - Meria Johnfroe

Multiple 'Winged Humanoid' Eyewitnesses in Toledo, Ohio

Youtuber Terri Lynn describes her sighting of a winged humanoid creature on July 4, 2008 in Toledo, Ohio:

“The title, it's true, I saw Mothman and, no, not recently...not one of these recent sightings that people are talking about. That is what made me decide to go ahead and talk about it because...this is so embarrassing. I mean, you go around telling people that you seen a half human / half moth or whatever he is creature and they tend to look at you like you're crazy. But I did see him.

This was back in 2008, 4th of July, Toledo, Ohio, which is Northwest Ohio, right in this corner on the Michigan line, like, right in the Ohio / Michigan border-line. Okay, so, we had just finished watching the fireworks. All the cars were leaving and we decided to sit back and just wait for the cars to leave so that we didn't have to fight the traffic and we could just hang out with the family a little bit longer. My boyfriend at the time was laying on the blanket on his back, just kind of looking up at the stars, hanging out. But after awhile, he looked up and he was like, 'Hey, hey, you guys, what the hell is that?' So I was the first one to pay attention to him and I looked up and there was, like, this plane going by and I'm like, 'It's a plane, what are you talking about?' He's like, 'No, no, Terri, that!' And there was like this huge black mass that was clearly blacking out the light from the stars as it flew by, but it was flying really slow. I do remember that, like it was slowly flying but not like a bird. Like, a bird, when they fly, they have to fly fast. This thing was super slow and huge, like, think of how big you would think of a pterodactyl being, that's how big this thing was. And it had wings that were, like, really thin, like a pterodactyl's wings. That stuck out to me the most was the wings like how thin and see-through they kinda were. Like, they weren't see-through but like pterodactyl wings. And the body was like stubby but not short because, trust me, this thing was huge but it was like stubby kind of like a gargoyle. That's what it reminded me of - a gargoyle with pterodactyl wings. I don't know, this thing was weird. It was just weird.

So I brought attention to my mom. My mom saw it. My brother saw it. It was funny because we all did the same exact thing, like, 'It's a plane, what are you guys talking about my?' I look my mom over and she said, 'It's a plane!' and I said, 'No, mom, that!' So, yeah, I don't know. I don't know what it was but I know that for some reason seeing it made me feel terrified and it stuck with me, that fear stuck with me and if you think about it, it's kind of irrational because there was no real reason to fear it. It was not coming towards us. It was just flying and it could have been something else but I know it wasn't because I seen it with my own eyes but everybody tried telling me was, like, 'Oh no, it couldn't have been Mothman because it's not Point Pleasant. That was West Virginia. This is Ohio.' Okay, well, now people are seeing it in Michigan and I'm ecstatic that people are actually reporting it because it validates what I had been trying to tell people.

Nobody wanted to believe me but now people are actually coming forward and reporting it and that was something I never did. I didn't even know you could or knew how... What do you do? Who do you call to report something like that? Do you call the cops? Oh, there's some sort of weird mothy human looking creature flying through the sky, like, no, no, I barely even wanted to tell my friends let alone report it. How do you report something like that? But apparently there's a way because people are reporting it. But there was one time I went to tell somebody this story and this did help make me feel validated too. I went to tell someone about it when I was drunk because it was the only time I could admit it and before I could even tell him what I saw I was talking about how I saw something and that it was on the 4th of July. That's all I said and he said, 'Flying?' and I was like, 'Yeah.' He's like, 'In the sky, like a human flying thing?' I'm like, 'Yeah.' He's like, 'I saw it. I was there!'

He said he was at his friend's house and when I saw it it was like flying towards the woods which is where he was at. He was in the woods. He said once it got to the tree line, which would have been out of my sight, that it kind of turned and like swooped down and flew within 20 feet of them. They were sitting around a bonfire and this thing just flew right past them and they didn't get a real real good look but they get a good enough look to see that it was like a human looking type thing with wings and when they were trying to explain it to the other people that was at the fire that didn't get a chance to see it, they all thought they were just drunk and crazy and didn't believe them either. So, that's my story, I saw Mothman and it was actually a mass sighting. A lot of people like all the people I was with saw it. The people at his bonfire saw it. There's probably other people there at the fireworks that night that saw it. None of us reported it that I know of. It was not even reported. If it had been reported, wouldn't it be, like, with the reports, with all these other people but I apparently not. I mean, it's not like an awesome scary story. I didn't see it up close. It didn't swoop down and fly right in front of me but I was close enough to know that it was not natural. It was not normal. It was not something that I've ever seen before in my life or I'm pretty sure most other people have ever seen before in their lives. There's things out there that we don't understand and that's the truth. I know what I saw I'm putting it out there. This is me reporting it. This is my report. I saw Mothman and I'm glad to get that off my chest.

Something I forgot to mention, for some reason this thing left me with a fear that would not leave for weeks. I couldn't sleep because every time I closed my eyes I would see this thing, I had nightmares of him landing on my roof or looking in my windows. And even though I knew this fear was irrational, it wouldn't leave. It was strange, that just seeing it would leave me so terrified for no real reason.

Bigfoot Accounts From Montgomery County, Indiana

The following accounts were in response to Bigfoot Observed Near Turkey Run State Park, Indiana:

This happened in 2000. We remember it like it was yesterday. It was close to Turkey Run and I could take you right to the place. That's how vivid the encounter still is. This was my report:

OBSERVED: My significant other and I lived in a house near (about 2 miles) from Turkey Run State Park in Montgomery County, Indiana. It first started out, we were sitting near a fire we had built in our yard when I kept getting the feeling I was being watched. This was probably 9 or 9:30 at night. My partner asked me what was wrong to which I told him. A few minutes later, the cattle pastured behind our house started bawling and running like something either scared them or was chasing them. My partner stepped out to the side of the garage (which was beside the house) and called me to come look, which when I got there, there was something tall standing in the moonlight. He then picked up a piece of steel pipe, his weapon of choice, and threw it at the shape, which didn't move. We assumed it was a pine or cedar tree. We went in the house shortly there after, but I still could not shake the "being watched" thing.

The next morning, we went back out to where the tree was supposed to be and there was NO tree! He threw a big rock at the spot where he'd threw the pipe the night before and actually hit the pipe on the ground with the rock. We walked out to where these items were and the grass was all beat down and trails led out through the pasture where the cattle are. There were two distinct trails. The grass was waist high and you could tell the one was used to come up and the one it used to go back by the direction the grass was laying.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was cool and clear. There was a partial moon because we could see the the thing standing but not clearly.

ENVIRONMENT: forests and open places. 5 strand barb wire fence 50 or so yards behind house. - name withheld

I live about 4 miles due east of Shades State Park in the SW part of Montgomery County, Indiana. Probably 9 or so years ago, I’m not sure on the year but we still lived in our old house which was lost to fire and the fire was 8 years ago so it was before that. We used to sleep with the windows open due to crappy a/c.

I had gone to bed late one night and after I got settled I noticed that it sounded like every dog in the vicinity was barking which was unusual. A lot of dog owners around here but the dogs don’t bark all night or anything. As I was wondering what had them stirred up, I heard a howl like I had never heard before, the best way I could describe it was like a low siren, but it sounded close. I laid there frozen, wondering what in the world it was. We have plenty of wildlife here and you learn to familiarize yourself with their noises especially at night. If for no other reason than to not be unnecessarily scared, as well as to protect livestock if need be. A few years later I found the Ohio Bigfoot howl recording from 1994 on the internet, and that is exactly what I heard that night, there is no doubt in my mind, I had never heard anything like it before then and I’ve never heard it again since. - Nan68

Two Bigfoot Encounters in Charleston, Arkansas

I recently received a telephone call from 'RA' in reference to two Bigfoot encounters.

The incidents took place in Charleston, Arkansas in Franklin County. RA states that last July 2018, she had walked out on to her back porch while drinking a cup of coffee, just before she was ready to leave for work. She was watching two deer and a red fox in the field.

As she stood there, she noticed movement in the tall brush about 70 yards from her. What she witnessed was a 6 1/2 - 7 ft. tall reddish-haired biped step back into the brush. RA said that it blended so well with the brush that she only noticed it when it moved. She was sure that it was a Bigfoot. She was quite alarmed and nervous, to the point where she asked her neighbor to drive her to work.

A few days ago, her boyfriend was asleep (RA was not home) and was woke by a high-pitched and sustained scream emanating from behind the house. He quickly got out of bed and looked outside. He turned on the recorder on his cellphone and recorded several minutes of the screams.

After the screams had stopped he walked downstairs and walked out on to the porch. He soon noticed a tall biped run to the left of the house towards the street in front of the house. He attempted to get video, but it was too dark and the quality was poor.

He described the scream as more of a shrill that had very short interruptions. Other people in the neighborhood also heard the noise.

I was able to listen to the recording, but have not been given permission to use on the blog. The sounds are very similar to other Bigfoot screams I have heard in the past. Lon

Apparent Bigfoot Episode on the Tippecanoe River in Indiana

I recently received the following account:

I apologize for taking your time, but this story is as real as it gets, and it happened to my grandfather and I in the 90’s.

My grandfather lived in Rochester, Indiana, alongside the Tippecanoe River. Across the river was a wildlife preserve that also used to be a camp. Well the camp had been run down and the building was dilapidated, but very eerie. It sits at the corner of the river where it bends at a sandbar.

My grandfather and I were hanging out limb lines for catfish. We hung them every night and grabbed them in the morning to see if caught anything. Well 3 nights in a row our lines were ripped down and laid on the bank. These lines were very strong, and would take a lot of power to snap them. They are the same ones used to catch gators. They were ripped off, or the whole limb ripped off and put on the bank.

One night my grandfather and I were going down to check out fishing poles while tight lining along our side of the bank. We had seen a rabbit jump in the water and swim across earlier in the day, and we thought that was weird, but when we went down to check our poles we heard a splash in the river. My grandfather said that it was probably another rabbit swimming across the river. We heard another splash, and it was louder than the last. Finally we both stop and try to see in the dark as best as possible. We only had a glow in the dark bobber for light, so looking across the river was out of the question. The next thing I heard sent chills down my spine, and has stuck with me forever. I never knew what it was, until I saw a documentary called Discovering Bigfoot. The growl recorded in that video was the EXACT same sound my grandfather and I heard. It was from the bellows of the gut. I just wanted to share it with you. - DB

Possible 2011 Mothman Encounter Near Point Pleasant, WV

Matt in Charleston, West Virginia called to tell of a strange encounter he had:

“I have a Mothman story for you. I'm here in Charleston, but back in 2011, December 15, I was travelling down through Point Pleasant for work. I was just travelling through, US Route 35. It was about 3:00-3:30 in the morning, icy conditions. The roads were snow covered. Just your typical December early morning in West Virginia.

I was going around this bend and this big figure appeared in the roadway. I mean, I couldn't see anything beyond it. It looked to be, maybe, 8 to 10 feet tall. It looked to have wings. I just stopped in the middle of the road. I couldn't go anywhere. I froze. Not just my vehicle was stopped but I froze and this figure, whatever it was, just stood there in the middle of the road and I was there for, I don't know, a minute or two minutes. I mean, I don't know how long but it seemed like forever and it finally darted off into the woods. And I sat there for another few minutes, trying to collect myself. I kept going around the bend and about a mile up the road a tractor trailer had jackknifed. There was no other vehicles around. It looked like it just happened. Luckily I was able to call emergency services and get them out on the scene. I just had this weird feeling about myself.

Well, going back to 1967, December 15, there at the Silver Bridge my great-grandfather actually went across the Silver Bridge like an hour or so before it collapsed and my great-grandma, I never had a chance to meet my great-grandfather but my great-grandmother said that, he said, after everything had happened, he had this weird feeling about himself going across that bridge and as soon as he got to work... He worked at one of the factories out there at Point Pleasant... and he said that he just had this weird feeling about himself and that's how I felt about what happened on December 15, 2011, so many years after the Silver Bridge collapse.

(Lewis asks about the creature) I never really could tell. I never really could make out exactly it looked like. I just know that it was a big dark figure, probably about 50 feet in front of me. He was in my headlights and, you know, it was snowing. It was just me in the vehicle and, like I said, it was like 3:00 in the morning or something like that. I mean it was just, I don't know if it was warning me not to go right then, like, whenever that tractor trailer jackknifed. It was like it was just telling me, 'You need to stop!' And I did.”

My premise may become more understandable as you read this book. The experiences described in the accounts are brutally forthright. Some readers may be shocked by the details. But then again, I don’t believe that you would want me to present the information in any manner that isn’t consistent with the experiencers’ actual encounters.
