'Tek Tek': Cambodia's Bigfoot

During the Vietnam War, American soldiers referred to an often-seen hominid as the 'Rock Ape.' I've heard many encounter accounts of reddish hair-covered primates that stood 4-6 ft. tall sneaking through the jungle at night. Some of these soldiers even claimed to have killed these primates. Was the 'Rock Ape' a reality or a result of jungle warfare? Regardless of the claims, people had been seeing something in these thick forests prior to the war.

The Nguoi Rung (Forest People), sometimes known as the 'Batutut' or 'Ujit,' are hairy, ape-like hominids that the locals say inhabit the dense jungles of Vietnam, especially the Three Forests region, where Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos converge. Descriptions vary in size, with fur ranging from grey to brown to a reddish color, but the creature is always said to walk in an upright, bipedal position. By 1974, sightings had become so frequent that General Hoang Minh Thao, commander of North Vietnamese forces in the Central Highlands, ordered a scientific survey of the area in an attempt to locate them. While an actual Nguoi Rung could not be located, the scientists did make a plaster cast of a suspiciously wide footprint.

This information leads up to an article in the Phnom Pen Post that references the Tek Tek, the Yeti of Cambodia:

It was a loud evening deep in the jungle, the crickets, frogs and odd cicadas were busy playing their usual nighttime symphony. A group of trekkers were getting ready to bunk down for the night.

“My friend was zipped up in his hammock and beginning to doze off, when he noticed that all of the insects had stopped making sounds: the jungle went completely silent,” said Greg McCann, a field coordinator for HabitatID, a conservation group working in Virachey National Park, where the trekkers were camping.

A few moments later, a horrid smell engulfed the camp – the trekkers all emerged from their tents to find its source. A minute after that, the smell had gone and the insects and frogs returned.

“The next morning the rangers refused to discuss the issue and wanted out of the park ASAP,” retold McCann. “My friend assumed they thought it was a ghost.”

All over the globe, stories abound about mysterious creatures that live in remote, often mountainous areas. The legendary Himalayan Yeti, North America’s Sasquatch, the Vietnamese nguoi ung, Australian yowie and Indonesian batatut have intrigued explorers and terrified children for generations.


It was Cambodia’s answer to the myth, the tek tek, that the rangers believed was lurking that night in Virachey, which covers Ratanakkiri and Stung Treng provinces.

Said to live in the far northern parts of the national park, the tek tek – according to a series of accounts that vary from person to person – is a frightening and bizarre creature to behold.

He’s said to be bipedal, short in stature – roughly five feet tall – and covered in greyish-red hair, with arms like machetes. He’s rumoured to have a healthy appetite for humans.

Others say he’s much larger and without knees. Some say that in the national park hideous roars are often heard at night, as hungry tek teks start biting their own flesh.

McCann, whose work takes him deep into Virachey National Park (VNP), recalled a hike in January this year, when he was warned by his local colleagues not to call out to others on the team.

If they were separated, he was told, the tek tek could “learn to imitate our voices and then trick us by calling us away using our friend’s voice – once separated from the group, we would quickly be murdered.”

Similar accounts have been recorded in the province of neighbouring Vietnam that borders Vireachey. US Vietnam War veteran Kregg P.J Jorgenson’s book, Very Crazy, G.I.!: Strange but True Stories of the Vietnam War mentions a human-like creature encountered by troops fighting near the park.

In one chapter dedicated to the ape-like creature, which he suspected is the nguoi rung, a local name meaning “the people of the forest”, the monster steps into a clearing about fifteen feet from six Americans and studies them before turning back the way it had come and “easily climbed back up the steep rise”.

“While [Linderer] was ready for a Viet Cong soldier, he wasn’t ready for the face that peered through the underbrush,” writes Jorgenson.

The soldiers speculated it could have been a mountain ape, whom one had claimed to have seen previously – before deciding it didn’t fit the description.

But Vu Ngoc Thanh, a retired member of the biology faculty at the Vietnam National University, has actually attempted to investigate reports of human-like apes living in the region.

His primate-researching projects are based in Chu Mom Ray National Park, which shares a border with Virachey National Park, near the Cambodian-Laos-Vietnam border.

“Locals still tell me about strange creatures, like humans, living on top of Chumomray Mountain,” he wrote in an email. “Two years ago, I tried to come up the mountain to check but had no success, as there was no time and it was dangerous.”

Back on the Cambodian side of the border, locals believe the tek tek population may have largely diminished, as the cryptid primate has fallen victim to an earthly blight: deforestation.

“One ranger told me that his grandfather and friends say that tek teks used to be encountered 30 to 40 years ago, back when Ratanakkiri was something like 95 per cent covered in forest,” said McCann.

“They say the combination of the Vietnam War, with the massive ordnance dropped by US planes, plus modern deforestation and poaching did them in.”

Upright 'Wolf' in Texas Woods

Mr. Strickler - My grandson confided an encounter to me on May 17, 2019. The sighting was in Bastrop, Texas on May 16, 2019 toward dusk, in the wooded area of Tahitian Village. He stated that he saw something move in the woods next to his house, and saw what looked like a wolf chasing something. He stood there transfixed trying to figure out what he was seeing, when it stood up on its hind legs, suddenly noticing him, then staring back at him before leaving. He then ran inside the house as fast as he could. He told me his parents don’t believe him, but I do, he was very serious, is not prone to making up, or telling stories, and is genuinely scared. UFOs and Helicopters

“I observed a UFO over Lake St. Clair in 1998. At time I was 17 and really had no interest in the subject. A buddy and me were out on an island north of Mitchell's Bay. Our intention was to shoot flares into the lake as all our rural fun involved fire or blowing up tree stumps or something of that nature. It was summer break. We were out of high school. It was after midnight but I couldn't really tell what time it was. There were no smartphones or anything back then. We saw an object over the water, I would guess, from our perception, maybe 150 feet high or something. It was hard to tell. At first the object was round with a slight girth in the center. It looked the way the dark side of the moon looks when the moon looks in a waxing crescent, you can tell there is something there but its like a haze and darkens out everything beyond it. We watched if for a few minutes where it really didn't do anything. It was a moment where we both were just trying to figure out what the object was because it was just sitting there. After a few minutes it lit up extremely bright on one side and began to rotate. It was absolutely dark on one side but it was like the top of a lighthouse except much higher in the sky. It was so shockingly bright that when its focus was in our direction I would turn my head slightly to avoid it. It dimmed up a bit and got encompassed by a glow. It moved left and stopped, right and stopped and then returned to its position where it sat a moment and shot up at what seemed like impossible speed. At this point, being younger, I was like, 'Whatever, I don't know what it was, don't care.' So we went back to doing what we were doing, however about three or four minutes passed and three more objects, lights, came from land across the lake which we were able to identify as helicopters that seemed to be interested in the area. I don't know what it was, I just remembered if it was nothing why would helicopters come? Doesn't make sense. Someone knew it was there.” Ashley El Dorado

'Bigfoot' Ruckus in South Jersey

I received the following account several years ago:

Dear Phantoms & Monsters: I found your site while searching for bigfoot in New Jersey. I wanted to find information on sightings in southern NJ in particular. You see, my friend and I are witnesses to activity that may or may not have been attributed to bigfoot.

Last Saturday, we were hiking in Belleplain State Forest on the East Creek Trail. We are members of a hiking club from outside of Philadelphia and enjoy exploring new locations when we can.

We were heading back in the direction of our car which was parked in a lot approximately 1.5 miles north of us. It was late afternoon, around 6:30 pm and very warm. This section of the trail had a boardwalk built over a swampy thickly brushed forest. We were taking a brief break. It was very quiet, which we both commented on.

As we started to hike north we both heard deep grunts coming from behind us. As we turned to take a look a tree in the distance was shaking violently. It was difficult to determine the size of the tree, but it was tall enough that we could easily see it. Seconds later we heard a loud crash from the northwest direction. As this was going on the deep grunts were getting louder. Then were heard more crashing sounds from the northwest. We were now hiking along the trail at a good clip, even though were had gear on our backs. We could hear the sounds continue back and forth, as if it was a competition.

I won't lie to you, I was terribly scared. My friend was almost frantic and had created some distance between us. After several minutes the noise subsided, but we were still on edge. It wasn't long before we reached the car.

We discussed our experience during the drive home. We were both thinking 'Bigfoot' because of the tree being shook and the back-and-forth sounds.

My friend had a possible bigfoot sighting when she was younger while camping with her family in the Poconos. She was always wary and on alert when we hiked together.

Our hiking club had a meeting on Monday. We discussed our outing and what had happened. Most of the group agreed that it was likely a pair or group of bigfoot. Several of our members have had odd encounters during their hikes. The stories are noteworthy and incredible. But until now, I didn't give their recollections much thought or credibility.

Have there been Bigfoot sightings in southern New Jersey? People constantly discuss the Jersey Devil and other weird thing in the area, but I haven't heard of bigfoot located there. Thanks for reading. You can contact me at this email. PP

NOTE: I sent an email to the witness in which I stated that there had indeed been Bigfoot sightings and evidence in south New Jersey and in other parts of the state. I referred her to the BFRO website and several Bigfoot groups in the area. The witness told me that the swamp area had white cedar and oak and was thick with brush & dead trees. It seems unlikely that a person would have caused some of the activity. I've been in the Pine Barrens and areas south of there on previous occasions and I cannot think of any natural creatures capable of causing such a ruckus. Lon

Bizarre Encounter: Odd Craft, 'Men in White' & Lost Time

“March 16, 1965: At approximately 6:00 P.M., central standard time I was standing in our yard near the porch in front of our house when I noticed a strange looking craft about a half-mile away approaching from slightly south of east. Aircraft followed a regular route north and south, but virtually never flew east and west. This craft appeared to consist of one or more rectangular metal boxes stacked upon one another in the center with smaller rectangular metal boxes abutting it on each side. It had no wings. That is the way it looked head-on as it flew towards me. The only sound it made was a gentle swishing sound similar to that of grouse gliding through the air. When it got closer I noticed that this craft appeared to be made of brushed stainless steel with a slightly reddish glint. The sun had not yet set. No lights, no moving parts, no emissions. It was about two and a half times the size of an automobile. The front sloped downwards from the top, two-thirds of the way down to the bottom, similar to early 1990s Ford minivans. Glass extended from halfway up to within an eighth of the way to the top.

At the time this craft did not appear to be saucer shaped, but that might be because I was viewing it head on with the play of light and a slightly rocking motion making it look like rectangular boxes pressed together and piled upon one another. I retained a distinct impression of its sharp angular design, especially of the seam that separated the side from the front, with no attempt at softening its features, as if it were a prototype. My mother was at the clothesline about 200 feet away. Two humanoids / men dressed in white uniforms were standing inside the craft and were on the side nearest to me about midway between the front and the back in a narrow corridor that seemed to go all the way around the craft behind which was a bulkhead that reached the roof so that you could not see all the way through to the other side. Their uniforms were like those worn by American military officers, plain white tunics without any insignia and they were not wearing caps. I was left with the distinct impression of them resembling fine-featured Englishmen. The attention of one man who seemed to be operating controls at a console that was hidden from view beneath the level of the window was directed downwards while the other man looked outside. The craft flew at an altitude of about 400 feet. The man looking out the window drew the other man’s attention to my mother who was hanging clothes at the clothesline. The craft came to a virtual stop as they gazed at her when one of the men spotted me watching them, reacted like he was startled, alerted the other man and the craft sped off at high speed beyond a grove of trees and was soon out of sight. That this happened two days before the first space walk on March 18, 1965 enables me to establish the date.

Footnotes: The aftermath - My mother was adamant that what she saw was a satellite passing overhead and each attempt to convince her that this was not a satellite because satellites traveled many miles above the earth proved futile. She also denied seeing men inside the craft. My sister demanded to know where we had been, as she had twice come outside looking for us, (including checking the barn) to call us in for dinner, but that we had disappeared for about 20 minutes and were nowhere to be found, while I was adamant that I had been standing right in front of the house all that time. While I retained a distinct impression of this vehicle NOT being saucer shaped, in retrospect it appears illogical that the two men should be positioned and steering the craft from the side and not at the front unless it was saucer shaped and what appeared to be the side was actually the front that was now turned towards me. Due to the oblique angle at which surfaces were struck by sunlight a disk made up of rectangular pieces of metal joined together would appear to be rectangles due to variation in surface with the slightest change in position. But if it was saucer shaped why was there a seam dividing the side from the front? What appeared to be the side joining the front at a right angle might be due to lighting making the surfaces seem to be flat, as the front facing the sun was lit up brighter than the side that was facing me. My conclusion that might not be correct is that it was not saucer shaped. I have recently become aware when my hair was clipped down to the scalp that I have deep scars of unknown origin on top of fissures in my skull that form two 5” flattened, inverted Vs on the side near the back of my head. It happened precisely as I described with no reason to make up a story (and for that matter I do not wish anyone to know who I am). That was more than fifty years ago. When I tried to tell others what I had seen I was met with disbelief and did not bring up the matter again until about a year ago. I did not think of the craft as extra-terrestrial or as even a flying saucer.

This was near the beginning of an era of new technology that included transistors and ventures into space. (TVs still used tubes). As I stated, it appeared to be a prototype with no attempt made to soften its features, particularly the sharp angle between vertical side and horizontally sloping front. The part in my footnote about my sister saying that she had twice come out to call us in for dinner, but that we had gone somewhere for about 20 minutes, I simple dismissed as due to a careless glance outside (as I was actually standing about 20 ft. S/W of the door) even though she had been clear that she had looked all over for us, but we were nowhere to be found. I am not brave enough to undergo hypnosis, but it would be interesting if she did in the event that she has a memory of what happened during the missing time that was prevented from surfacing. That was my only experience with nothing out of the ordinary before or since that time. I will add this. During a medical examination for employment when I had completed university it was discovered that I have a section missing (a cyst) in my right kidney. And at that time I could also feel about a pea sized "pinch" to the left of my heart that vanished a few years later. But I have no reason to believe that these have any connection to the event. About two decades ago when I returned from the hospital when my broken jaw was wired together, a few days later I experienced a loss of consciousness that was like going under and asked my doctor if that was due to residual gas in my lungs. In the blink of an eye the room was uncomfortably hot and in the next instant it was cold and eight hours later. (I cannot recall the medical term the doctor used to describe the incident). Yet, strangely, I seemed to think that this episode was not connected to the operation. Less than half a year ago I had my barber clip my hair down to the scalp and was shocked when he held the mirror behind my head and I saw for the first time two scar covered fissures on the side near the back of my head that were previously hidden under hair. - the Unrepentant

Presque Isle Bigfoot / UFO Encounter

In the summer of 1966 there were reports of a mysterious creature, associated with a UFO. During an outing to the shore, witnesses claim to have encountered a hostile Bigfoot with possible extraterrestrial origins. In a time when the space race captivated the public’s attention, this close encounter prompted an intense federal investigation of a possible hulking hairy beast from the cosmos.

Presque Isle State Park is over seven miles of beaches on Lake Erie, near Erie, PA. It was on the hot and humid night of Sunday, July 31, 1966 that six people had traveled from nearby Jamestown, New York to enjoy a refreshing visit to Beach 6 along the northern edge of the park. The group included teenagers Betty Jean Klem & Douglas J. Tibbets, along with Gerald LaBelle and Mrs. Anita Haifley who brought along her young children Sandra (2 years) and Sara (6 months). Somehow during the evening their car became stuck in the sand in the east end of the beach parking lot and it became impossible to budge. Others who were leaving the park offered a ride to Mr. LaBelle so he could get a tow truck to free the stuck vehicle. Within a few minutes, Park Policemen Ralph E. Clark and Robert Loeb Jr. drove by the beach and noticed the trapped car. Stopping at the car they promised that they would return to render assistance if Mr. LaBelle could not find anyone to help.

At around 9:30 PM something unusual occurred. Betty Klem recounts the events as recorded in the August 1, 1966 Erie Times News:

“We were sitting in the car waiting for help. We saw a star move. It got brighter. It would move fast, then dim. It came straight down. The car vibrated. I know we saw it, we had taken a walk in that area earlier. There was nothing between those trees then. All of a sudden it was just there.”

The object was mushroom-shaped with a narrow base rising to an oval structure. There were also lights on the back of the object. The UFO approached from the north and briefly hovered over the area before landing. Ms. Klem said a beam of light came from the craft and moved along the sand in a straight line as the craft disappeared behind the tree line:

“It lit up the whole woods in the path. It wasn’t like a search light. There was light along the ground, along the whole path.”

Not long after this incident officers Clark and Loeb returned as promised to offer assistance. The officers approached the car and were told of the craft that landed in the woods. Mr. Tibbets offered to show them the general area where he thought it touched down. Tibbets and the officers moved towards the location, leaving the two young women and the children alone in the car.

Betty Klem noticed something emerge from the woods that the three had just entered. She thought at first that it was an animal, but then she saw the shape and size of it. What she saw was a dark featureless ape-shaped humanoid about six feet tall walking toward them. Although not in the initial report in an interview with Mr. LaBelle on June 12th of 2008 he recounted that the girls told him that it circled the car from a distance and then came close and clawed at the car. Screaming in utter terror Ms. Klem immediately sounded the cars horn frantically. The creature then sluggishly moved back into the brush and the UFO rose and took off with incredible speed to the north just minutes before Mr. Tibbets and officers Clark and Loeb came running to their aid.

The officers observed scratches on the car where the being had made contact, and all four insisted that they were not there before the visit to Presque Isle. The four adults and two children were taken by patrol car to the Park Ranger station where they detailed the story. According to Mr. LaBelle more heavily armed patrolmen came in to assist with the situation and they refused to let the witnesses go back to their car to retrieve their belongings until morning.

Early the following morning the Pennsylvania State Police and United States Air Force were involved, where unusual impressions in the sand were discovered.

Soon after the incident Betty Klem was interviewed by a psychiatrist who affirmed that the testimony she gave about the incident seemed to be true and not due to illness or delusion.

'Jack O' Lantern' Eyed Kids

“I had an experience as a child. I was about 5 years old at the time. I was at my grandma's in East Detroit. It was about 1986 and it was during the fall. I was coming in from being outside at my grandma's, playing with other children. I came in and was settling in and watching some television when two children knocked on the door. They were dressed in summer clothes; shorts, and the girl had a summer dress on. I looked out the window. They were asking if I would come out to play with them. I saw their eyes. They were lit up like a Jack O' Lantern. I mean like lights. They did not know I was looking at them out the window. My aunt answered the door and said I wasn’t there because I motioned to her, 'No! No!'

I believe she saved my life that night. Those were not kids, they were entities of some kind. There was a boy and a girl and they both had blond hair and their eyes were like Jack O' Lanterns. I can remember exactly how they looked.” Matthew

“In 1991 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, my daughter came back from a two week summer visitation at her father's (my ex-husband) house, complaining about a bad pain in her right toe. About 3 to 4 days after coming home, something was poking out on the left side of her right big toe; it festered, so I pulled it out. It was a tube of metal a little less than 1 inch long, and about 1/4 inches around!! I put it inside a tiny box inside my jewelry box in my hope chest in my master bedroom.

About 2-3 months later I stayed at a friend's home with her and her mother while the children were gone for the weekend (I was lonely.) I got home, my home was broken into (even though I had three vicious big dogs for protection inside the home), and the ONLY thing missing was that silver shiny metal thing – nothing else even moved, like they knew where to look, but I'd told NO ONE when I put it there!” Cheryl Pemberton

The man in the tuxedo disappeared almost instantly after appearing. The man died at that moment and the nurses were all convinced the man in the white tuxedo was the devil and he had come to take the man.” merqava

While in college I lived in a fraternity house for a couple of years, 2011 through spring 2013. It was an old house, probably built in the mid to late 1800s, that had housed a variety of families, fraternities, and sororities over the years. Of course, being an old Victorian house it had its quirks and noises, but generally speaking, you would never be alone as guys were always coming and going. On the rare occasion that a brother would be alone at night, they would always talk about hearing or seeing things, in fact, one new member always said that he saw a person follow me up the stairs and refused to ever sleep there again. I had always chalked those stories up to it just being an old, creaky house with shitty lights and insulation. Until, at least, this series of events happened to me:

My first year in the house I roomed with one other brother in a northeast corner room, and there is one particularly important detail about that room. On the roof outside of our north facing window there was a spotlight that lit up the letters on our house just next to those windows and also shined into our room. One particular night, my roommate, his girlfriend, me, and my soon to be boyfriend were all bedding down for the night (it was college so two couples sharing a room regularly was the norm) and we left the spotlight on for some reason so there was a glow to the room, basically like if you leave the curtains open during a big full moon. As I’m falling asleep I watched this black mass, almost like a cloud, move from the southeast corner into the northwest corner. So I watched something move diagonally across the room towards the spotlight, eventually disappearing into the spotlight. Normally, I would have just figured that I was seeing things as I nodded off, but this time my almost boyfriend sat straight up and said something like, “what the eff was that?” That was followed by my roommate's girlfriend asking, “Did you see that black thing too?” Three of the four of us seeing the same thing definitely confirmed to me that I wasn’t just seeing things as I fell asleep, something was in that room that night.

Now that night may have been the first time I saw the black cloud or ghost, but it wasn’t the last.

The next year I was vacuuming the upstairs hallway alone, while everyone else was cleaning downstairs. As I turned around I saw something come through the attic stairs doorway and move into a bedroom. This startled me a bit, so I went looking for whatever brother had clearly tried to scare me. The problem was that I was the only person up there, every other room was empty and it obviously wasn’t a person because the attic door never opened.

Also during that year, I encountered that same black mass while taking a shower. The mass passed through the bathroom door and then out the window on a west to east path. Now the thing with that bathroom is that there were two sets of lights. One was in the shower above your head and one above the sink which diagonal from the shower to the southeast. The placement of the lights ensured that any shadows would get cast behind you while in that room. So for me, while taking a shower, my shadow was below and to my right on the shower wall, the mass that moved was chest level and to my left. And shadows certainly don’t move the way this thing did.

During that same year, I had my own room in the back corner of the house. It was mostly unremarkable as a bedroom, except every so often there would be a knock in the middle of my south wall, a wall that was on the second story and only reachable by ladder. But we never had a ladder around, and this only happened on quiet nights.

Finally, I have this super odd thing that was happened virtually all my life. If I sleep in a house that has had some sort of trauma occur there or it’s thought to be haunted I will have this one reoccurring dream, or rather nightmare. A hooded figure will drag me throughout the house and no one is able to help no matter how much I fight and scream, and usually I wake up screaming. I bring that up because while living in the fraternity house, I had this dream once a month like clockwork for two years.

We found out later during a homecoming weekend while talking with two alumni who had gone to our college that during the late 80s or early 90s, a sorority was in that house and one of their sisters died in a car accident at 19 or 20 years old. From that point on, members of that sorority claimed to have had encounters with her ghost.

So that’s the story of how I went from a non-believer to a maybe, probably believer. Now I don’t know if it’s the sorority girl who died or not, but that house is haunted. M

'Thunderbirds' Over Michigan, Pennsylvania & Tennessee

“I saw one of these "birds" in 1976 in southeast Michigan. Watched it for 10 minutes as it sat on a large dead tree-top. 20 feet tall easy, plumed neck, mottled pink-gray neck and head, huge curved beak, golden eyes that turned ruby red as it looked into the sun. Vast wingspan, thick legs, long claw talons. As it flapped wings prior to soaring off it made an eerie dry-throat "caw".” Albert Miller

“I just saw one these in Erie, Pennsylvania - a Thunderbird. I have an eyewitness too, my girlfriend. We were standing in our backyard, when I said, 'That's big, that's really big! Oh my God, that's huge!!!' It was the size of a small air-plane. The wing width from my point of view on the ground was a 2 feet or more in width wingspan, easily 10 feet on each side. It was big, big. This was on father's day 2018 (Sunday, June 17, 2018). And then the thing folded up his wings and it was a black dot flying back over Lake Erie in that direction.” Captain Caveman

“I was skeptic till I observed one! I had depth and visual markers to judge this by. I live in a very rural area on top of a small mountain in east Tennessee and not to far from the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge. I was chilling on my back porch on September 1, 2018 when the birds began to squawk and take off. I watched some crows and a hawk take flight. From across the sky it looked like a small plane or glider way up high, until it got closer. I am not far from a hang-gliding site and see them often. I ruled that out right away. It was soaring with a wing span of a small plane but it was a bird! It was the Thunderbird! A bird I did not know anything about till I saw it with my own eyes!” Dee Williams

Two Upright Canine Incidents in Wisconsin

“I saw this beast in Wausau, Wisconsin on September 21, 2008. Me and another person were in the car on a two lane road with farms on each sides. I passed at about 100 mph in a AUDI (1:00 or 2:00 AM) RIGHT NEXT TO IT, it was in the opposite lane, right next to the markings on the middle of the road. I asked the person next to me to explain what she saw, she described everything in detail, exactly what I saw. This thing exists, it has a wolf face, and is bear sized. I turned the car around in 20 seconds and it was gone! I saw it, and it was eating a carcass of a deer, in the middle of the road. I have nothing to gain from lying or inventing. I asked the passenger of the car I was driving to describe what she saw- bear-like creature, size, with wolf like face and teeth, red eyes. I would rather it eat road kill then it go hunting humans. I almost killed the damned thing as I sped by at 100mph, it was in the middle of the road. If I had killed it, at least someone would have believed me. Some people may call me crazy, but when I saw this crazy beast, I turned my car around in 20 seconds, and it had vanished.” YL

“My husband saw a creature in Orfordville, Wisconsin back in the late 90's off of Old Highway 11. He was picking up speed to continue onto the highway and the wolf (?) was on the side of the road on all fours and it then got up and walked in front of my husband's car and looked right at my husband. He said the wolf creature had a huge muzzle and yellow eyes. He said it then ran on two legs across the road into the cornfield. Needless to say, my hubby got the heck outta dodge! Believe! My husband and I live in Janesville, Wisconsin which is less than an hour from Elkhorn. In 1998 or so my husband was coming back from visiting a friend of ours in Orfordville, WI and he saw something on the right side of his car as he was driving down Hwy 11 heading back to where we lived at the time. This creature was down on all 4's at first but then got up on 2 legs and ran in front of his car. It had a long snout, very hairy and about 6 ft. tall. There are things we can't explain but do exist.” Medusa63

BEKs and a Female Companion

“I "let them in " in 2006 in Livonia, Michigan. I was working alone at night in a flooring store when two black-eyed-kids (the boy looked about 5 or 6 and the girl looked about girl 11 or 12 years old) accompanied by an almond-eyed woman, came into my store. Long story short, the youngest asked to use our restroom and I said 'Sure, its right over there.' The women quickly interrupted and said, 'No, we are leaving.' They left without incident and I never felt scared or in danger. I was undoubtedly uneasy though because of their different appearance. The kids' eyes were completely black and looked to be made out of a tar substance, while the woman was very tall with large almond shaped eyes and actually extremely pretty. I've never heard another story with the two black eyed kids being with a woman before here, and I've looked! And through research the thing that made the most sense in my situation was ancient eastern beliefs say that BEKs are bringers of bad fortune. This adds up in my situation even though everything could still be coincidence.

Other interesting notes from my encounter are when the young boy spoke but I couldn't understand a thing he said (he was between 5 and 6 remember) and the girl had to tell me what he said, which was to use our restroom. And even though it sounds completely fabricated, I was reading user submitted stories that had a few stories of BEKs the weeks leading up to my encounter. I always knew that was a super weird coincidence but only recently I've been hearing that reading / thinking about them which might draw them to you. I’m sure most of the stories we hear on BEKs are made up and sensationalized but rest assured many others are 100% true! The woman gave me weirder feelings than the BEKs did, not bad feelings but weird. She was actually very pretty and nice. I never hear about the BEKs being with her in others stories! But I honestly don’t think they were aliens even though I have no idea what they were. Just my opinion.” Austin Ryan

BEK at the Door

“I lived quite remotely in an old farmhouse outside Stockholm, Sweden. One night I woke up and as my girlfriend was away over the night It felt a bit creepy. I got up and saw it was 3:00 o'clock in the night. My big brave dog Curt was, thank god, with me. I looked out at the yard and as I sat on the second floor where the bedroom was. I smoked a cigarette and saw a kid in a hood on the porch? I had recently learned about this BEK phenomenon and was amazed over the fact that someone came here to this place where I rarely have any visitors during daytime? The kid in the hood went to the door and knocked. I felt suddenly dead scared and my dog who usually barks when we have visitors or people walking on the property, went under the bed! I don’t know what this was and why a kid would go through the woods to get to our house? We have a doorbell and the kid chose to knock. It might not have been a BEK but I'm glad I didn't opened. My dogs strange behaviour points to the fact something was very wrong!” Mr Mental
