Strange Witness Encounter Reports

Winter 2017 – Florida - “I think I had a brief encounter couple of years ago while I was jogging on a sidewalk around where I used to live. It was a trail partially surrounded by a forest, divided by a road. While I was jogging I heard knocks close to where I was passing through and suddenly this stench like sulfur or rotten meat came from nowhere and that overwhelming sensation that someone is watching you. I was so scared that I quickly turned back home running like if the devil was following me. When that happened it was getting dark already, it was late in the afternoon around 5:30 on winter season. I told my wife when I came back home what happened to me and she was laughing like I was telling stories, she told me that probably there was a creek with still water around there and that's why it was stinking, the weird thing was as I told her, there was no stench when I passed through there 10 min before, it came out suddenly, and it was really strong. I went running by that sidewalk again the next day with her and the stench wasn’t around the area anymore. I never went jogging around there at that time that's for sure. Strange thing to happen in an area like that cause it wasn't that rural, there's a lot of communities around there. I'm from Florida. DD

Maine -“This is one of the best and frightening encounters I ever heard. I can hear the anxiety in your voice. Only someone who has had an encounter knows. I had an encounter in Maine in 97 and haven't hunted ever since. They are so enormous and ugly strange looking it's almost unreal. Thanks for telling your story. PS it was worth the wait. Yosemite Park, USA “When l was a young kid my family and l went to Yosemite Park. One evening after a hike l saw something moving in the trees what ever it was it was like looking through water, but it had a shape . l tried to show my dad , but he didn't see it. I remember him him telling me my eyes were playing tricks cause it was getting dark. Years later when the movie 'Predator' came out l almost jumped out of my sit. THAT IS WHAT I SAW!!!” RJR

Northern Minnesota - “This Northern Minnesota guy has had the crap scared out of him once about 1974. Something running through the woods, breaking trees down, coming straight at me and making the most god awful vocalizations that are impossible to mimic. There might have been more than one. Remember that predators like wolves hunt with cunning and teamwork.” SM

Large Winged Being Encountered in Western Kentucky

I recently came across the following account:

About 10 years ago my ex-husband and I were visiting friends and the guys left to go rent some movies from a local video store. We live in small town surrounded by other small neighboring towns in western Kentucky. Lots of wooded areas and lots of country roads, not a lot of big city action. Street lights are on most roads but not the "back" roads. My friend's husband Zack and my ex-husband Josh decided to hit a back road so Zack could show Josh a house he had been helping build. I am familiar with the road they were on because my grandparents live off it (its a very long road probably 20 miles from start to finish). A childhood friend of mine lived directly on this road, so I had grew up in these woods and have had some strange stories from down there. It's not like people talked about this place being haunted or anything paranormal, I just had experienced weirdness myself as a kid. Mostly I chalked my stories up to being young and impressionable.

Anyway, the guys were talking about the house and hanging out when they got to a part of the road that is somewhat curved. At that point, off the side of the road, stood a figure that my ex said had to be 7 ft tall. They were in a Dodge Neon, so he said maybe he could have mistaken its height because they were sitting low. But it towered over the vehicle. Neither of them said a word to each other until they had passed the figure. After they passed another car was coming and that car hit their breaks which led the guys to believe that car had seen it as well. Zack pulls into the next available place to turn around and that's when they both started talking and freaking out. "Did you see that? What was that?" They turned around and drove back, but nothing was there. They stopped the car and got flashlights out (no street lights. The only light had been their headlights).

They hurried back to the house and when they came inside both were very quiet. I was like "whats up with you guys?" Each kept saying for the other to tell us. They tell us the story of what they had witnessed but with no description. So me and my friend separated the guys and asked them to draw what they saw. Basically it was the same thing only one of them drew half of it and the other drew the entire figure. Both had the center as being black except red where the eyes are. Josh described that it didn't appear to have feet and it was floating. Zack said he didn't remember if he looked at the feet because he was so taken back by the giant wings. The wings they both drew and said were white at the top then faded to yellow then red. The craziest part to me was that both guys said that it wasn't flapping the wings up and down, but that it was flapping them in towards the center 'body' and then back out.

My ex and I would talk about this in great lengths for years. Zack had since been in an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was alone on his motorcycle and the eyewitness said he seemed to have just drove off the side of the road like something ran in front of him. But he is no longer able to communicate to be able to tell anyone what happened to him that night. But its always made me wonder if he saw that creature again or if it was some sort of warning for what was to come. DRU

Update: Armstrong County, PA 'Owlman'

The following is an update on 'Owlman' Twice Encountered in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania from Phantoms & Monsters Fortean Research member Ryan Fusco:

Investigation for Owl Man sighting September 16th 10 a.m.:

Arriving at our witnesses location we found out right away that this man was very intelligent, and as you'll soon find out credible as well. DF was able to retell us the entire situation also compensating for the six years of tree growth on his property.

Right away we could tell that this man was not joking around from his off the grid solar panels that power two homes, a barn and a music studio. He also raises his own fish, veggies, and fruits. He's also a collector of stamps and various medieval weapons especially swords. DF started off by telling us of the account that is on the Phantoms and Monsters website.

In summary the flying beast he saw was between 5 and 6 ft tall, had a round head large black circles for eyes, small owl ears, very wide feathers and longer feathers attached as a bottom row that were anywhere from 6 to 7 in Long. It had a short-hooked beak and had three clawed talon for toes. He also added that it had a yellow gold color to its belly.

After hearing what DF had to say I trusted my instincts and asked if he had seen it more than twice. He said on a third account it was between 1:30 and 2 in the morning he and his wife were awoken by a startling sound he said that it was the sound of a woman screaming mixed with the screeching of an owl. DF ran to the window, opened it up and heard the sounds of and I quote "the sound that bones would make rubbing against a metal roof". At first, he thought it was coming from his well house but when he turned his head he realized it was on top of his barn. DF grabbed his bow. But by that time the creature had flown off. They owned several cats. In the morning their cat Leo was never seen again. DF and his wife swear that was the owl that took him.

Now there have been a couple of sightings of this thing, here and there through those six years. A family member of his and their son claims to have seen this creature eating or feasting on the side of the road of a deer carcass except this was at night it had red eyes shine, and at night owls eyes glow red when light shines upon them.

To wrap this up I was sent out here to investigate because he claimed he knew where this thing was coming from. The same place where he got a job just so he could find out if this thing really was there. By the way you don't make up a story and then seek out to get a job at a mushroom farm of all places, 8 miles east from his location.

At this mushroom farm they owned golf carts. They showed up the one day and they were missing. This happened day after day finally they installed cameras. They caught young kids between the ages of 16 and 18 with rifles driving on them. When they were caught, they were asked why? Their answers:

"There's a giant bat like creature with glowing red eyes at night that lives in these caves and mines and we've seen it leave and come back several times and we're here to kill it..."

Since then DF hasn't seen signs of this creature. But then again, it's Armstrong County anything can happen. Ryan Fusco

Piercing Screams & Thrown Rocks - Is Bigfoot In North Wales?

North Wales, UK “I live in Britain and used to spend a lot of my time at a location in North Wales. I'll keep the exact location anonymous for personal reasons. Anyway this area was heavily wooded for miles and deep in the valleys, it had a spot where a natural waterfall was. I used to come to this spot to enjoy the peace and quiet and would camp out overnight on occasion. This area was off limits to the public due to dangerous rock falls I was led to believe. I also heard that in the past people used to come down there to be married in some nearby caves and sure enough there was a stone alter carved into the natural rock in one of the caves. Apparently though this custom had stopped about a hundred years back due the unsafe nature of geology and the fact a woman had died after falling down a ravine and indeed the area was rumoured to be haunted.

I would from time to time although alone feel like I was being watched, this never bothered me during the daylight hours but at night this feeling was so intense I felt compelled to keep the fire lit all night. Other instances there included tree knocking which at first I took to be chopping noises, this happened often during the day although I could never find any sign of any woodman no matter how hard I searched, it strangely happened twice one night also. Another night I heard what I thought was somebody making owl noises at me, it sounded like a human was making the sound and not quite like a real owl would sound.

The last night I ever spent in the area I was camped down by the steam and heard what I at first took to be a woman's scream, but it sounded off somehow and I knew nobody could have been there other than myself, it almost bellowed through me this sound, sure it could have been an animal but certainly nothing I'd ever encountered before, before that night was out I had a huge rock thrown in my direction and again that ear splitting scream. I never when back there after these experiences and probably never will. What I felt and heard haunted me for years, I rationalised the sounds to perhaps be ghosts and worried that I was a victim of some sort of haunting but after hearing the similarities between what I experienced and what others experience due to possible Bigfoot encounters perhaps such creatures live in remote areas of the UK also? Thunderbirds Are Go!

“This is my strange story. I work in a college teaching business studies. One afternoon, after the students had left for the day, I decided to print a document. My classroom was the last classroom at the end of a long corridor. At the other end of the corridor were two rooms. To the right was the faculty lounge and to the left the library. The faculty lounge housed the printer. I sent the document to the printer and left my classroom to collect it. As I approached the faculty lounge I decided to go to the library instead, to say hello to my librarian friends. I thought I would collect the document after speaking with my friends. I walked into the library and said hello to the librarians. I glanced over to my left and spotted, on the shelf, a Haynes manual about the television show ‘Thunderbirds’. I used to watch the show when I was young and I also used to watch the show with some young relatives a few years ago.

I went over to have a look at the book and, to my surprise, the document I had just printed was in the book, between the cover and the first page. Somehow, the sheet of paper I had just printed had gone from the printer to the book I had decided to look at. It is so strange that, when I think about it, I cannot help but think that the universe is very strange. If someone had taken the sheet I had printed, why did they put it into a book and how did they know that that would be the book I would choose? Did they want me to find it? I once had a pen go missing, I couldn’t find it. However, after going to the office to see if I had left it there, it was on my desk when I returned. The college is based on a former Royal Air Force station.” RC

Bigfoot-Like Creature Reported to Roam Yorkshire, UK

The following account was recently found:

It has taken me along time to come forward with what happened to me that day, but I feel that I am ready to finally tell all. It happened years ago in the month of October back in 1998, myself and my family lived in a rural area of Yorkshire in a village called Bramham. It's a countryside area, with lots of farms, a quarry and some rivers and streams, I liked to walk my dog around the lanes and tracks when I had finished work of an evening as it was a way for me to wind down and get some air. On that particular evening I'm out walking with my dog down a long farm track, a route we often take. It was early evening so it was about 8 pm and it had gotten dark.

Myself and the dog are just walking along, I let the dog off the lead so he could have a run as we are about half a mile up this single farm track by then and there were no animals or people around, so I let him have a sniff around. As I walked the dog is just doing his own thing. It was quiet with no sign of anyone around. I was enjoying the walk, there are hedges on both sides of the track the whole way so its hard to see clearly into the fields, and there are some woods to one side of me. As we walked even further along the track the dog suddenly stops, he freezes and looks up the track in the direction we are walking.

He must be aware of something up there as he starts growling and acting all strange, his hackles are up and he growls continuously. At that point I'm thinking it must be a fox, which is the way he's acted before if we came across one. So I'm looking at the track to try and see a fox. I can't see anything anywhere. No fox, no cat or any other animal. I can see how worked up he is, as now he is going mad and starts barking loudly. I had carried on walking so by this point he was a short way behind me. So I turn to the dog to try and calm him but he won't stop, if anything he's getting worse. Something has really spooked him so I turn to look up the track and I couldn't believe my eyes.

Standing there looking at us was this thing. A massive creature stood there looking back in our direction. It must have walked between 8 to 9 foot steps out onto the field track before I had seen it, and now I can see it clearly and it can see us. At this point I'm in complete shock at what I was seeing. I kept thinking "it can't be real." I honestly don't think my brain couldn't process what I was seeing, because standing there in the field track was a huge creature of some kind. It was massively built and was about 5 foot wide across the shoulders and about 8 ft tall. I couldn't make out any facial features as the face was in shadow, but I could make out that it was covered in hair, it was standing about 30 meters from me so I could see it clearly but I could not make out any features even from that distance. It made no sound and I never smelled or heard anything.

To my disbelief at that moment the dog runs straight towards it, the dog's barking as he runs in its direction. But the dog stopped about 15 meters away from this thing, he was clearly scared and just didn't know how to react. He had completely forgotten about me and that's a first for my dog. Usually he would put my needs first and maybe that what he was doing as he was by now in between me and this creature. But I could tell I was the last thing on his mind at this point. The dog barks a few more times then he turns and runs straight past me and back up the farm track to safety the way we came in. No doubt now you can imagine how stunned I was.

The whole incident had lasted only seconds and I was just stood there paralysed and trying to process what I had just seen. I must of been in shock, because what I did next I did without conscious thought, and I can't explain why I did it. But as I stood there looking at this creature I nod my head quickly and I say "alright" to it (I know thats crazy but that's what I did). Then I just calmly turned around and just started walking back down the field track after my dog, all the time listening for this creature coming behind me. I was completely sh*tting myself. I think I acted without thinking as I never looked back up that track until I got to the dog and I couldn't see anything in the field anymore when I did.

I didn't report this for years and years, until other people came forward in secret and started to share their accounts online with each other. I had no idea what a Bigfoot was back then. Now years on from seeing them online, I can say without doubt it looked like it was an exact match. I have spoken with this witness on numerous occasions, and I did get in touch this week to let him know another person had come forward from the same area. BR

What Did I See?

Seminole, Alabama, USA - I've seen this cloaked thing in the woods myself. I live over in Seminole, Alabama, about 20 minutes east from West Pensacola, we are pretty rural but swampy. It was daytime and I was tending to my neighbors horses for him. I left the pen and I looked up and it seemed I startled this tall, somewhat invisible, thing. It hit the ground fast and I saw the foliage move. I had a fear shoot through me like my stomach just dropped. My neighbor has acres and acres of property with the Perdido River running through it. There's tons of wildlife. I haven't been back in the woods since and that was two years ago. Trying to explain this to anyone is something I can't do. I either startled a ghost (doesn't seem likely) or it was a Bigfoot. There's so much we don't know. My Indian friend said it sounded like a skinwalker but he said they only show themselves to native Americans. My grandma was half Cherokee so I guess I've got a little Indian in me. I'm leaning more toward Bigfoot. JJ

Outhouse Bigfoot / Two Sasquatch Held By Canadian Military / Ohio 'Booger'

Here are a few recently reported Bigfoot incidents:

Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA “Let me tell you. There are many things that can't be explained, and so many beings we don’t know are alive. I want to say it was 12 years ago in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I went to the outhouse, I was stuck in there with my husband not waking up to my calls. But the smell and hearing the breathing. I was stuck for I know half hour. First I thought moose had me trapped then that smell maybe a bear but that smell. Anyways I made it to the cabin when the smell was gone. CClights were put on the vehicle the next day. Never went out there at dark again. What's got me is looking on the ground and knowing something was there with no tracks is just hair raising.” LH

“A family friend saw 2 (male and female) in a concrete bunker-style one-room buildings held by the Canadian military on a small base in North Gower, Ontario. This person never lied. His word was his word. He's done things most people read about. The story of what happened I will never forget. I myself have always had the feeling something is watching me in the woods at night... always. This is why I do not like the woods at night. It's that feeling I hate. I myself can't bare it. I guess because my disposition is somewhat of a control freak, and in the dark, black is black. You strain to open your pupils but the black is to dense. No I’m out here. Call me what you will, my feelings say this isn't good. Bigfoot is real..." SC

Heuston Woods, Preble County, Southwest Ohio “I didn’t realize what a booger was until I was in my early 20’s! Me and my cousin, when I was 16, he was 17, were coming out of Heuston Woods in Southwest Ohio. I was driving and he was in the passenger side but we come around this curve in the road, and you had to slow down to 10 mph going around this curve, but soon as we got around it and out the other side just 20-30 feet in front of my truck, something big, dark and hairy looking ran across the road in front of us! And on two legs too! My cousin and myself looked at each other at the same time and said 'WTF?!' Now I know that wasn’t any bear because there were no bears in that part of Ohio, at least not back then (it was 1976)! That was the first road crossing, sighting, whatever that I had, and the first one in Ohio! About 20 years after that I had another road crossing sighting in Ohio, probably about 30-40 miles from the first one! Actually the first was in Preble County and the second was in Warren County, Ohio!” HH

Large Intelligent 'Green Orb' Encounter

I've received a large number of 'green orb' encounters recently...all displaying intelligence movement. The following is one of those accounts:

I am a 49 year old married man from Connecticut who works outdoors and spends much of my free time outside as well. Between my job and my disposition, I am always extremely observant of my surroundings. This allows me to pick up on things that most others would be oblivious to. I recently found your show on YouTube and thought I'd give you a shout. I have always been interested in the supernatural/ufo/ cryptid subject and I've been fortunate enough to have had a number of strange experiences. Briefly, they are;

Indiantown Gap Army range, PA mid 1990's: With other witnesses watched lights high in the sky travel across the horizon at incredible speeds and change directions at impossible angles.

Lake Winnipasauke, NH early 2000's: had rocks thrown at me by what I now assume was a Bigfoot-although at the time had no idea what was really happening beyond the unwelcome feeling that prompted me to leave.

New Durham, NH mid 1990's: while hiking I stumbled across a large perfectly round scoop out of the earth approximately 8 feet in diameter. Not on a slope, no rock rolled out of it, no reason it would be there. No machinery tracks, not near any roads. No good explanation. I did not have a camera with me.

New Canaan, CT 2010: I saw reflective shoes jog across the road adjacent to a cemetery when my vehicle reached the vicinity of the jogger, no one was there and there wasn't anywhere for them to have gone due to a large fence and no sidewalks.

Trumble, CT 2017: I watched a massive object glide silently above me. Although I was staring at it with intense focus I could not determine exactly what I was looking at. No sound, far too large to have traveled at such a low speed and altitude, no landing lights, too big, too slow, too low. I stared but could make out nothing as to fuselage or wings, only two red and two white lights. Reported to MUFON.

Stratford,CT Summer 2019: while watering the garden at home I noticed a black immobile object high in the sky. Despite a light breeze this object did not move at all, but remained motionless. I was able to take many photos in rapid succession and reported it to NUFORC. Upon further scrutiny I feel it is a hole or portal that changed shape rapidly. I'd be happy to supply the original pictures and may send them to Mark D'Antonio as well.

Lastly, my most traumatizing and unforgettable encounter was with a green glowing orb while in the New Hampshire Army National Guard Mountain Infantry. We were training at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho-Underhill, VT near Stowe ski area in the early 1990's. My company was there to do our 2 week summer training. I was in my foxhole with my assistant gunner. We were waiting for the opposing force to attack our perimeter at around 4am on a drizzling dark morning. As the attack began on the opposite side of the perimeter, we knew that we wouldn't see any fighting.

It was at this time that a glowing green orb about the size of a basketball silently and methodically approached us from our left side. My AG and I watched it come from a great distance and move past us then of into the distance. It was approximately 15 feet off of the ground and about 40 feet away from us. The entire time we watched, the orb was dodging trees and branches. I immediately got the sense that it was ancient and was bothered by the artillery and grenade simulators. My AG and I immediately turned to one another and asked "what the f*#k was that?" again and again.

I think about these things often. I do not have any friends, family or co-workers that are open to discussing these subjects.
There is much more to our world than most people can comprehend.

'Predator-Like' Entity

2001 - Lodi, California “No joke, when I was about 19-20 years old (I'm 36 now) me and my friend witness something like this (a Predator-like entity) about mid day in Lodi California. In town. Literally about 10 feet away. It got up and ran across the street than disappeared. I thought it was just me but as soon as I asked my friend if he just saw something he was shocked as well.” AT

The 'Asa Monster' at Quantico Marine Base, VA

Quantico, Va. (API) – Some Marine sentry’s standing guard here late at night are seeing some strange sights and hearing strange sounds. Is it a “Bigfoot?” Well, that’s what some of them think.

The “thing” has made its presence known in the dark shadows of a tree line outside an ammunition storage area at the Quantico Marine Base in northern Virginia, said Sgt. Alan Pultz of base’s public information office. Marines who have seen or heard it have dubbed it the “Asa Monster.”

A few Marines claim to have seen “brown things” walking on two legs. Others say they have heard strange shrieking screams, and some claim they’ve heard something climbing a fence.

“I remember the night I saw it very well,” said a Marine who asked that his name not be used. “It was about 2 a.m., I was walking my post when I heard something in the woods. I stopped and looked in the direction of the noise.

I could see a dark figure beyond the fence just in front of the tree line, so I shined my flashlight at it. I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was some type of creature that looked like a cross between an ape and a bear”.

“The first thing I noticed was its large glaring eyes. Then I noticed it had arms and was covered with dark brown hair.”

The Marine said he went for help but when he and the sergeant of the guard searched the area, “we found nothing except some very large tracks with a pattern that resembled those of a dog.”

He estimated that the creature was between 6 and 8 feet tall and resembled an artist’s conception of a “Sasquatch” or “Bigfoot”.

Noises heard by Marine sentry’s usually occur in the summer, said St. Kris N. Stolpa, sergeant of the guard of the physical security platoon.

He said the noises have developed a pattern. “Occurring between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., the noises will be there for two days and then go away for two days, in a continuous cycle.”

Stolpa said one night one of his men reported a loud screaming noise but when he investigated, he heard nothing until nearly a half hour later. “It sounded as if someone were being mutilated.”

Many of the Marines who claim they have heard strange noises are hesitant to believe there is no logical explanation for them. They believe the noises must be coming from housing or recreation areas, although they are some distance away, Pultz said.

Winged 'Harbinger' Encountered in Tennessee?

In 2003 when I was 13 my mom, a friend, and I were driving down a road in the Defeated/Highland area in Tennessee at about 3 am and a huge flying creature that looked human-like flew pretty low over the car. The only thing I can think of to compare it to was that thing in those Jeepers Creepers movies. All 3 of us saw it and were terrified. We were in a convertible with the top down so we got a pretty good look at it. I'm not really a religious person but it also makes me wonder if it was like an angel of death or something because that same day about 30 minutes later my uncle was hit by a car walking home from a bar and we passed him walking about a minute before it happened. We didn't know it was him and my mom was eerie about picking up strangers especially with 2 teens in the car but if we had have stopped that drunk driver could have killed all of us. All the things that happened that day still haunt me. I'm a very proof/science driven person so I don't really even tell people about this because I don't want people thinking I'm insane. I just needed put this out there somewhere. OM

UFO in the Early Morning Clouds

“I'm not entirely sure the time of year this was, but I would go to my bus stop at 6:40 am. The bus ran at 6:45 am, sometimes 6:50 am. It wasn't cold or hot. It was light outside, like completely day time looking, except it was pretty cloudy. Me and my neighbor were at the bus stop together. He was a teenager and I was in elementary. It's not really relevant, but I'm mentioning it. My neighbors on the other side of my house usually always almost missed the bus. They got out of the house 6:43 ish. I remember just standing there looking around. I looked up towards the sky and I swear on my life I saw this black cliche shaped UFO with amber colored Art windows, three of them. The moment I saw it clouds covered over it and it was gone. I looked towards my neighbor and asked if he saw that too, I was like wide eyed flipping shit for a second. He seemed like he did but I think he was trying to block it out..? He was looking the same place I was for a second confused, then like he just didn't care. Here I was thinking about if there was anyway that could have been an airplane. That's the only possible UFO I've ever seen.” CL

Cryptid Events & Experiences

I live in northeast Ohio, and my house is directly in front of about 2-300 acres of woods, I used to explore it all the time. I had a strange encounter about 2 years ago when I was making a trip through a part of the woods I’d been in at least a hundred times. I’ve always had a thing for the outdoors so I was pretty familiar with that part of it. It was me and my cousin who is only a year younger than I am, and we both just had knives and little bullshit we liked to mess with in the woods. It was the middle of the day and we heard coyote yipping only about 20-30 yards out. So I made me and him climb a tree to avoid them, because the coyotes around here are mean and we weren’t properly armed. We climbed the tree and watched the pack run past not too far away. They seemed panicked like they were running from something, so I watched closely as my cousin covered his eyes because he was scared. Then something large cake running behind the pack, it looked like a large dog, but it was impossibly large, like the size of a small black bear large. It was jet black except for its eyes, they were a weird shade of green but, to be honest, I’m not 100% sure, I didn't get a great look. I asked my cousin about it later but he didn’t see any of it, it didn’t seem super strange until I started reading into stuff like this, and I was curious if it lines up with anything else, or if I just saw the worlds biggest dog. I live in Chattanooga, TN just a few minutes away from Harrison Bay. This year I started with 4 cats and would let them roam around outside and they would always come back in when it got dark. One of them didn't come back one day and we didn't think much other than they must of wanted to stay out longer and would let them in first thing in the morning.

After a week of no sign of them we gave up hope and thought maybe a stray dog or wild animal or something got her. We kept a closer eye on the cats from then on but didn't have any problems until a couple months later when another one disappeared. We now only let a single cat out who is older and meaner and can protect himself and even then he comes back in before it gets dark at all. Now the beginning of my encounter is from last night (12/28/2018).

I was driving home from work and the closer I got to my house the thicker this strange misty fog became. I came inside after feeling a little uneasy and went to bed after making sure both cats were inside and accounted for. I woke up at 3am to the sounds of a cat making an awful wailing noise outside my front door. It sounded almost like a siren from how it rose and fell in pitch. I looked to make sure my cats were ok and they were huddled up under my TV stand looking terrified at the front door where the wailing was coming from and I listened closer and the wailing sounded...off. It sounded like a wail on the surface but had a guttural growl undertone and I felt a strong urge to open the door but then I had a feeling tell me NOT TO OPEN it. I smacked the door instead and the thing made a loud garbled wailing growl sound as it scampered away. I then went to lay back down around 3:30 at this point and it started back up outside my bedroom window at this point. This time however it would wail and then make a sound like it was fighting another cat but there was only creature making noise and it went back on a loop of wailing. Around 4am it came to a stop. When I came outside this morning to go to work there was this white fluff all over the ground. LH

I was driving home in the summer of '97 midday, no clouds, turning a corner at the bottom of the hill to my street. It's a hard left turn and opposing traffic frequently miscalculates how much they have to slow down to stay in their lane especially if they don’t look ahead to see if anyone is coming.

So I was turning left, looking far left up the hill when out of peripheral vision to my right there was what could only be described as a large, and by large I mean the size of an SUV, creature wrapped around the base of an old tree. It was gripping the trunk about five feet off the ground like a squirrel, covered in long brown hair except for it’s head where it was darker and short like a horse. The head was anteater like, but nowhere near as long or thin in proportion.

My abrupt turn spooked it. The dense mane on it’s back inflated as it sprinted up the tree like a bear. I could see incredible muscle mass ripple under the thick coat, and it shook the entire four story tree. The whole sighting happened in about a second while I was focused on taking the turn, so movement is what made me notice it. When I looked in it’s direction for a brief flash I saw massive hind legs blast thru bark and propel it’s torso straight up the trunk and then nothing. The sheer size and force of it did scare me but the WTF element made me stop.

I backed up about 20ft to get a better look at the area which was the front yard of a house set back in the woods. Things were completely normal. I didn’t think it was something that was actually there then, or in retrospect. Did I see the ghost of a giant sloth? PS

I used to live in a more rural area of Tennessee growing up. I spent most of my days traipsing around the backcountry with my friends, logging miles of hiking a day. Usually there were four of us that would venture out but on this particular day only two of us went.

I'll call my friend Tyler. Well, Tyler's family had just moved here from California barely a year before this day. We rode our bikes as far as was feasible and hid them while we traversed the hills.

We meandered through the woods for hours, joking and playing like we usually did. We got to this kind of clearing and Tyler was talking animatedly to me and just...stopped. This was a kid that talked a mile a minute (I don't talk as much, so I was content to listen) and I remember feeling my stomach drop. I figured there was a snake. But when I turned to look at him, his face was twisted into this silent scream. He was looking behind me and UP. He kind of pointed and took off running in the other direction.

By this time I felt the icy grips of terror leeching on to me but still I turned around. I don't know what it was, but it was tall and hairy. Smelled bad. I would have called it a bigfoot but it ran like a dog. I lived in rural areas my whole life and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I did NOT see a bear that day. Bears have sounds I know, they have running styles different than dogs. Bears were a daily sighting depending on what house I was at.

I don't know what I saw but I know enough about life that I don't go telling anyone I know in person about it now. People where I'm from reported similar sightings. Tyler and his family moved back to California less than a month after the incident. He never spoke to any of us (myself and our ragtag bunch) again. If we went to his door he wouldn't answer or his mother would send us away. A couple years later I moved up north. I have told no one besides people I knew in the town I'm from. SJ
