Gollum in the City: Bizarre Humanoid in Downtown Chicago

The witness approaches a bizarre Gollum-like humanoid on State Street in downtown Chicago; an incident that still affects him

“What I’m going to tell you is the honest truth. I’ve had experiences before but this incident, I still doubt as to what I saw. This happened two summers ago (2018) in downtown Chicago.

If you’ve ever been to downtown Chicago during the summer after working hours you know how crowded it can get. I’ve been living here 13 years and I’ve seen my share of homeless weirdos. I commute using the subway everyday and seen some weird people. The city has many and at first that’s what I brushed this sighting off as.

I was walking to the comic book store coming up to State street. There’s lots of shoppers and tourists going about their business when I saw what I will refer to as a homeless man on a corner on his knees. It was only when I looked at him again that I was confused. He looked like a Caucasian man that had a scar on his face that made him look a little deformed. He was wearing an oversized hat, but I could see he was bald. He was on his knees and muttering something partially covering his face. I’ve never stared at someone before but there I was in the middle of State Street shocked and confused. He didn’t look normal. His eyes were huge and I felt really sorry for him. His facial expressions just had lots of sorrow.

I looked around to see if anyone had noticed him. A young boy in his teens with his dad was looking at this thing the same way I was. I heard his dad tell the young boy not to look at him, but I could see the boy was also in shock and confused. He also knew that wasn’t a human. Something about this humanoid was not right. Everyone else who walked by dared not look and ignored this humanoid. It was my signal to cross the street and I walked away but I kept turning around to get a glimpse.

The last thing I remember that was odd was how his eyes blinked. It reminded a lot of Smeagol from the Lord of the Rings movie. He didn’t look real. I think about this sighting a lot and sometimes brush it off as it was just a weird looking homeless human. The more I recall the sighting the more I’m convinced it was not a human. That’s exactly what this thing was doing. Trying to hide in plain sight in front of hundreds of people. It’s mannerisms we’re strange too. The way it kept its head down but occasionally looking up to make eye contact was bizarre. It almost felt like I was looking at a wild animal at a zoo. Very bizarre.” AC

Sasquatch w/ Glowing Fingers Startles Hunters in Michigan

2 upland game hunters in Michigan were startled when a tall bedded Sasquatch suddenly stands up in the tall grass

“I was hunting pheasant in 1988 in mid-Michigan. Joining me was my cousin and brother-in-law. We had one small section of field left to push and were going to call it a day. My dog hit on a bird about 15 yards from the field edge to the wood line. I gave her some advance commands and she slowly crept up on point. As she came in to jump the bird a deep growl came from the tall grass where she was pointing. It was nothing like any of us had ever heard before or since for that matter.

Instantly my dog backed off point and had her tail between her legs. I remember seeing the grass start to bend at multiple spots, indicating to me that whatever had been bedding the grass was very large. I said to the group “Alright, let’s back off and get the hell out of here.” My brother-in-law, who is a different breed of idiot, said “bullsh*t, I’m going to shoot whatever the hell that is!!" As he had just finished that sentence up stood a Sasquatch. Roughly 8.5’ - 9’ tall. He let out another growl that I have nightmares till this day from. I say he only because of the deep growl, I didn’t see or don’t remember seeing any identifying sex organs. The fingers on this thing seemed to be glowing an amber-orange color. Hair was a grey to reddish brown ends in color. Absolutely frigging huge. We were frozen stiff. Literally could not get a word out of my mouth. It felt like an hour we stood there eye to eye with it. Then it walked into the wood line. The woods in that area were flat and it was a younger forest with not many large girth trees.

After it went into the shadows of the wood line we followed behind to help us verify what the f*ck we just seen. But when we reached the woods the was absolutely nothing to be seen. I mean no sounds of walking no birds, no squirrels, and no Sasquatch anywhere.” MM

“I spent 20 years sleeping outside in the military training, was a contractor in Afghanistan, grew up in a town of 3 thousand in Washington state. I never had anything happen to me. But true, call it bull if you want, but one night last year (in 2017) I woke up at 11:00 PM, fell asleep watching a movie on my PC in bedroom. My wife was watching the news downstairs. My lights were on. I woke up floating in the air not over the bed but over the floor, half over the PC table. For some reason I shouted, 'I am tired of this, I take back my permission.' At that point I was dropped to the floor and partly over my PC missing the bed completely. There was an extra black spot on the ceiling over my feet. I was awake when I was dropped as I remember the falling and hitting the floor, then my wife and 35 year old son came running into the room to see what happened. Yes, I heard them coming and seen the door open. I would not believe it either if it was not me that it happened to. Also I have have large finger bruises with thin scratches from the tips out about 6 inches long on my arms several time.” F

Massive Bigfoot Stalks Boy Scouts in Mount Hood National Forest

I recently came across the following account:

"I was active in the Boy Scouts (BSA) for a few years, up until about age 15. Our troop was fairly small and poorly organized with a Scout Master who was a uninspired old man known to drink a lot. He often drove us out into some remote locations of the PNW and in/around the Mount Hood National Forest. We usually ended up being the only troop at campsites that were long neglected and poorly maintained at best (We never attended any of the Scout Jamborees). The one criteria that seemed to matter to him was the presence of some kind of single occupancy shelter. Like an old mini cabin or some standing structure he could hole up by himself with his little propane heater, folding cot and Canadian Mist. We usually saw him twice a day, for breakfast and dinner. The rest of the time, we fended for ourselves and the dynamics of our troop sometimes devolved into something along the lines of 'Lord of The Flies.'

During my time in that troop, on two occasions, my friend and I came across some very distinct, five-toed, very human, very huge prints. One grouping was located on the far side of a lake, accessible only by canoe (which at one point we had to drag over a beaver dam). There was a muddy cove where a creek drained into the lake. We were marveling at all of fresh the various animal tracks imprinted in the mud. Bear, deer, cougar and/or bobcat, when we noticed the improbable bare, humanoid prints that were ridiculously huge. We looked at them very closely and I'll never forget observing the fine detail within the prints that were pressed in quite deep. My friend said at the time, the creases inside the prints looked similar to what you'd see on your palms or the bottoms of your own feet.

Both my friend and I were aware of the 'Bigfoot legends,' but we never took it seriously. Shortly after inspecting those footprints, we both felt a little spooked and decided to hit the canoe and paddle back to our campsite. If someone had put in the elaborate effort to prank some Boy Scouts or campers with 'fake footprints,' they chose a location almost guaranteed to never be noticed. That incident along with another (much freakier) one in a different location, greatly changed my mindset as to the likelihood of these things/creatures being all-too real.

The other 'freaky experience' also didn't involve a sighting (on my part) but it was one of those 'you would have had to have been there' situations.

This very well could have taken place during the camping excursion and location as where my friend I found the prints on the far side of the lake. If not then and there, it was around that same time period. It was after dinner and the sun was down but the moon was pretty bright. Two other guys my age went for a night hike, basically just goofing around. One of those two guys (Bruce) I also considered a friend. He was in my grade and we attended the same school. Bruce was tall, husky guy for his age. He had a mellow disposition and got good grades in school. He was also deaf; or significantly so since he had one of those old hearing aids that connected to a control box, about the size of a pack of cigarettes. I never saw him use sign language, but he was effective at communicating with rough words and gestures. Anyway, Bruce and the other guy went for their hike, apparently intending to go just down down to the lake and back. They didn't bring anything with them, not even a flashlight.

I don't think they were gone for more than 45 mins tops, when they both came bursting back into the campsite area in a total state of panic, bordering on hysteria. The other guy (can't recall his name) was sobbing and shaking; kept frantically looking back in the direction they'd come come from. What really alarmed me was seeing Bruce in tears also. He had accrued a lot deep woods camping experiencing and was no wuss. Both of them were babbling over the top of each other, making quite a commotion. It was enough to rouse our old troop leader from his hidey-hole to see what was going on.

We finally got some detail out of the guys which was unsettling to everybody. Supposedly, they hadn't quite made it to the lake when Bruce felt someone/something was pacing them, parallel to their path. They said whatever it was, was walking between the trees. At first the other kid didn't pick on up it and was bemused when Bruce kept trying to share what he was noticing. They kept walking for a bit until the other kid became aware of what Bruce had been trying to explain. Whatever was pacing them was laying down footfalls, massive enough to reverberate through the ground. I think what really scared them at first was noticing how the heavy steps were keeping pace with their own, as if it was stalking them. Whenever they stopped, it stopped.

At some point, they reached a spot where there was wider spacing between the trees. In the moonlight they both saw the silhouette of a huge, tall bipedal shape, 20-30 feet away, darting between the tree trunks. Bruce described it as "taller than an NBA player, but way thicker than Andre The Giant.'

Where their stories diverged was, after they both fled in panic, Bruce insisted that it didn't give chase but his friend swore that he could hear it crashing through the foliage behind them, most of the way back to camp. I should note that our rag-tag Scout troop included a couple of guys, a bit older than the average age in our troop, who were full-on bullies and considered themselves bad-asses. Both of those douchebags, who would normally mock anyone for being a 'pansy,' were visibly spooked by the drama, nervously shining their flashlights around the dark perimeter of our campsite. But of course neither of them volunteered to venture out and investigate. Our old Scoutmaster looked a bit rattled too since this was not the typical drama he usually had to contend with. I think seeing Bruce in such a state of fear had an impact on him. I'm fairly certain he believed at least those two Scouts saw something out of the ordinary, something that scared the piss out of them, thereby interrupting his evening date with some booze.

After things finally simmered down, before retreating back to his personal space, he told us to make sure the fire was out and hit the racks. At that older campground, our accommodations were crude structures like a cross between tiny log cabins and a yurt. There were no bunks or anything, just a floor of wood planks. The 'roofs' were large squares of old canvas stretched/fastened across the top. Those yurt/cabin structures were drafty and cold. Very uncomfortable.

It was at least a couple of hours before dawn when me and a couple of the guys awoke to the sound/feeling of something walking around the campsite, at times getting really close to the yurts. I don't recall it feeling as being something massive or heavy, but two dogs were absolutely freaking out, howling and whimpering like their lives were in danger. Here's where my memory has some gaps. Our troop didn't travel with/include dogs. My best recollection is that particular campground had some guy acting as a seasonal caretaker with a key to the gate, living in a shack or an old trailer a ways off from our camp and he might have owned dogs. I just don't remember seeing this person at any point. Sure, the sounds we heard that morning could have easily been from any number of catalogued critters, but the way those dogs sounded was really something.

I still recall how scared my friend Bruce was, as he frantically tried to explain/describe what he'd seen. That normally mellow guy looked like he'd just witnessed something very frightening. The guy was literally in tears, extremely convinced of what he'd seen.

For whatever reason, Bruce didn't stick around our troop long after that. Maybe just one more camp out at most. Over the following years I saw him a few times in the school hallways, but never had a chance to ask him to elaborate on that bad scare." NP

Huge 'Flying Gargoyle' Over Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve, Illinois

An eyewitness driving home from work observes, what she believes to be, a plane gliding over the treetops. That is until the object begins to flap it wings!
I recently received the following email:

"I believe I saw it as I was driving home from work, heading south on Barrington Road. It at first looked like a small plane, so I wasn't really paying much attention until it started flapping its wings and flying towards the preserve area as if to land. It was a split second sighting and I could not believe what I just saw." LG

I eventually received a telephone call from the witness, where she went into a bit more detail:

The witness was traveling south on near Hoffman Estates, Illinois and just northeast of the Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve in Cook County. This particular preserve is a huge sprawling wooded and open location that is utilized by many of the local residence for recreation.

The date is uncertain, but was in early December 2019 between 4:30-5:00 pm local time. There was still plenty of light available for a good observation. The witness was driving home from work and noticed, what she originally thought was a small plane, gliding over the treetops of the preserve. She didn't think much about it, even though a plane flying this low would be very unusual. Then the wings began to flap slowly. LG was shocked at the size of this being as it continued south over the preserve.

LG states that it was dark or black in color and had a humanoid shaped body. She was unable to see the head, but described the overall shape as a 'flying gargoyle.' The wingspan was quite wide, the reason why LG thought that it was a plane. She was unable to make out the wing structure. She said that she observed the winged being for about 20 seconds or so, before it descended into the trees. She had actually thought about going into the preserve to investigate, but changed her mind since she had no idea what she may confront.

She later started searching for answers online, when she discovered a few sightings reported to me in the general area. In particular, the humanoid owl previously seen in October 2019 by a couple in Hoffman Estates, Illinois caught her attention. There was also a bat-like cryptid encountered in Barrington, Illinois in September 2019. As the witness continued reading the sighting reports, she eventually decided to contact me with her incident. She was unaware of any of the winged humanoid activity that had been occurring in the Chicagoland area previous to her sighting.

The witness was very straight-forward and lucid. I truly believe that she witnessed something unexplained and out of the ordinary. Lon

Alien Abduction: 32 Years of Constant Fear

A woman has experienced several unexplained encounters over the past 32 years. Her father vanished after he had claimed that he was previously abducted. Now she fears the worst may happen to her.
The following email was forwarded to me by a woman in Vancouver, BC, Canada:

"In October 1988 a friend and I had an astonishing UFO sighting and encounter. We were both in our sophomore year of high school. I will talk about that incident later in my story but first I want to relate other experiences.

Two years later, strange things started to happen to me. On my 18th birthday I went to bed about 11:30 pm. All I remember was laying down. Sometime around 3 am I woke up in the backyard freezing and absolutely terrified. What I don't understand is if I was sleepwalking, why didn't my parents wake up? I know my mom should have because she has always been a very light sleeper. After the incident I couldn't sleep at all for the next 3 nights.

In November 1994 I was living alone in a house that a friend's grandmother had rented to me. One night I was laying on the couch watching television. After the program I rolled over and went to sleep. Not long after I was awaken by very intense bright white lights. At first I thought someone had pulled into my driveway and I started to get up to see who it was. I thought it might have been a friend of mine who lived right up the road, because he had come to the house that late on a number of occasions because he worked the 2nd shift. As I was starting to get out of bed to see who it was an overwhelming terror came over me. I laid back down and pulled the covers over my head. That's all I remember until the next morning when I woke up with my feet on the back of the couch and my head and body on the floor with my shirt on the wrong side out. I had a similar experience in 1996 at a different house in a different part of the country.

Now, it's happened again. Early this morning at around 5 am I woke and swear I saw 3 small figures standing next to the bed. It was pitch black because the power had gone off. I immediately rolled back over and put the covers over my head and thought to myself "I didn't see that. I don't want to see that." After a few minutes and without taking the covers off of my head I reached over on the night stand and got my flashlight, raised up out of bed and simultaneously turn on the flashlight. There was nothing there. I was terrified because it felt like someone was in the bedroom with me even though I could not see anything. Oddly enough as soon as I clicked on the flashlight the power came back on immediately afterwards. I'm not claiming that I have been abducted but if I was I simply don't want to know the details.

I'm overly concerned that these experiences will continue and that I will eventually become aware that an abduction is occurring. I have never received any communication and I cannot find any marks on my body. The only symptoms I have are insomnia for several days and loss of appetite. But I don't get tired or sleepy. I have noticed that some items in the house are moved around and, in fact, a few things have gone missing including a perfume bottle, a hair brush and a blanket.

To be honest with you, my real concern centers around my father and the UFO incident in October 1988. The night I had the sighting and encounter, my father went missing. He has never been seen or heard from again. He had previously claimed that he has been abducted by extraterrestrials and that these beings performed experiments on him. The encounter my friend and I had was very scary and confusing. We have never been able to talk about to each other even though we are still close. I have an awful feeling something may happen to me and that I may actually find out what became of my father. I have seen psychiatrists and psychologists for almost 25 years now. No one has been able to alleviate my fear." Nan

Gliding 'Gnomes' Manifest, Then Vanish

A woman and her husband are outside observing the stars. She then looks across the property and notices '2 small older men,' who she later describes as 'gnomes'

"Just wanted to let you know that in early July 2018 my wife saw some "little people." Now she's never been into anything like this and it scared her. We came in rather late and after bringing stuff in, I looked up and saw a beautiful view of the Milky Way. We live out in the weeds and there's not much light pollution so we have a good view of the night sky after I turned off the porch light.

After viewing the sky she looked a little distance across our storm cellar and froze and said "What is that?" I asked her and she said it looked like two small older men, not exactly walking, kind of a gliding. She said they seemed happy and then they noticed she saw them. Their eyes narrowed and they disappeared. She was really frightened and when I questioned her she was adamant about what she saw. She's never studied fairy mythology and I told her it went along with some of the stuff I've read. I, unfortunately, did NOT see them. Just wanted to pass this along to you. The next day I pulled up fairy pic's on the net and she said the closest resemblance to the pic's is 'Gnomes.' Keep up the good work guys." Respectfully, TR

Lost Time in London

“My name is Toney. My mum and her gran were walking to the shops in Catford in South East London in 1976 (my mum was 7 at the time). On the way to the shops, they swear they saw bright lights in the sky. It was a round-like shape with lots of colored lights on it. They just stopped to watch it, then the lights were gone. They walked to the shops. When they got to the shops, they were all closed.

They made their way back home. When they got home everyone wanted to know where they had been. They were told that they were gone for 4 hours. They left the house at 3:00 PM and got home just after 7:00 PM. The shops were 5 minutes from the house. They told the family about what happened on the way to the shops, that they saw bright lights in the sky, that it was a round-like shape with lots of colored lights on it. The family told them that they should never tell anyone outside of the family. For years, my mom as always wondered what happened to them on that day. Where did she and her gran go for all that time? They just remember seeing the lights which lasted for 10 minutes, then they started walking to the shops." TR

Tall Red-Eyed Winged Humanoid Reported by O'Hare International Security Officer

A security officer at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago reported seeing a tall black red-eyed winged humanoid along the fence that bordered the cargo area and the tarmac

"I wanted to tell you about something I saw on February 21st at O’Hare International Airport. I work for *Redacted* as a security guard and I was on duty at O’Hare International Airport and was assigned to do routine escorts for trucks that were coming in and out of the airport. Many of these trucks are there to deliver cargo going outbound on planes and are required to have an escort to and from their drop offs. I was doing one such escort on that night at about 2200. I had escorted the truck to the unloading facility at the post office and I was waiting on the truck to be unloaded. I stepped out of my vehicle to have a cigarette and I saw something move out of the corner of my eye near the fence and I decided to go see if it was someone trying to climb the fence. We had a few incidents in the last few weeks of people coming onto airport grounds either to sit and watch the airplanes come and go but we have also had a few incidents of investigators coming onto airport grounds in response to the multiple reports of the Mothman.

We had been told to report these individuals and escort them off the grounds if we ever run into them during our shifts. I assumed it was going to be the same thing as before, we roll up to them and tell them that they were trespassing and then escorting them off the property. We have all had our share of these sort of calls and knew to be firm but professional with them.

I rolled up to the fence and what I saw wasn’t human. It looked like a very tall human but it was solid black with glowing red eyes and it had a pair of wings that were outstretched that must have measured at least ten feet from tip to tip. I got out of my car and shined my flashlight at it. This thing screeched out loud. It almost sounded like the brakes on a train, loud and very high pitched. It then turned its back to me and flew straight up into the sky and took off like a bullet. I could see it as it took off, it’s wings flapping until it faded into the night. I heard it screech again and before I knew it, it was gone and I could not see it anymore. I drove back to where the truck was and I told the people there at the dock and they said that people had seen it at least a few times. I waited until the truck was ready and escorted it back and reported it to my supervisor who told me that it was probably a very large owl. He did tell me to be careful in the future when I am out at night which I thought was odd.

I know what I saw was not an owl and whatever it was, it scared the living piss out of me. I am asking that you please do not mention my employment. I need to keep my job in order to take care of my family and I do not want people saying anything to me about this sighting. I need to make my money and I also do not want to be made fun of my people here at work."

Investigators Notes:

I contacted the witness three times before I was able to secure time with him to speak about this sighting. The witness was very hesitant to talk to the investigator until we assured him that his identity would be protected and his employer would be redacted from the final report.

The witness stated that he saw something and when he came up to the fence line, he exited his car and used his flashlight to shine a beam of light at the entity he saw. When asked what he saw, he stated that the skin of the creature looked like that of a giant bat and was solid black and that the wings were at least 10 feet in width. He stated that the creature turned its back on him and shot up into the air and was gone within a few seconds. When asked if he got a look at the face of the creature, the witness stated that he did not and that the initial encounter did not last more than a few seconds and he was frozen in fear at the sight of the creature. When asked to please explain what he saw in more detail the witness said he could not give any more of a description asides from what he initially gave. When asked about his interaction with the people at the dock, he stated that he never went any farther than what he initially talked to them about and that they stated that the creature had been seen before by various people. He stated that he went back to his car and waited inside with the doors locked until the truck was ready to be escorted back to the gates.

The witness refused to talk about his conversation with his supervisor and then proceeded to cut the interview short. No other information was obtained by the witness.

It is the investigator’s opinion that this sighting did profoundly affect the witness to the point that he refused to talk to the investigator any further. Without any further information from the witness, the investigator has to list this as inconclusive pending any further information from the witness.

NOTE: this is the 2nd report we have received involving security officers. We have been well aware of airport management telling employees not to mention these sightings to investigators. Cosmic Ray’s 'Venus Files' - Part I

In these coronavirus-plagued times, with even small gatherings being limited to no more than ten persons or completely curtailed, the usual forums available for me to answer pertinent questions that readers of my books have about the planet Venus and its inhabitants specifically, or the UFO phenomenon in general, have been closed off. Kecksburg “Meteor” and Project WHITE STORK

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on 9 December 1965, a so-called “meteor” was observed streaking across the northeastern skies of the United States and the southeastern skies of Canada, descending at a steep angle, whence it crashed on the outskirts of the small town of Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. The incident, and the town, which have come to be known collectively as “Pennsylvania’s Roswell,” has been the subject of ongoing speculation in the UFO community, even becoming a meme of pop culture. A movie about the incident, appropriately and simply titled Kecksburg, premiered at the State Theatre Center for the Arts on Main Street in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on 12 September of last year. Last summer, on 27 July, I enjoyed the privilege of attending the annual Kecksburg UFO Festival, being one of the many vendors of UFO-related products at the event, i.e. 'Venus Rising' books and bumper stickers. World Kecksburg UFO authority, Stan Gordon, provided an outstanding powerpoint presentation on what happened on the fateful day of the UFO crash at that location nearly 54 years ago. Other presenters discussed various aspects of ufology, in general. A fellow ufologist, S. W. from Michigan, and I, were examining many of the original drawings, photographs, testimonies in UFO reports and Pennsylvania newspaper articles about the incident that Stan Gordon had spread across his table.

S. W. wanted to know what my take on the event was. I explained that there was a definite Venus connection to the Kecksburg UFO that needed further investigation.

A few hours after the crash, Air Force personnel were dispatched to the debris site to cordon off the area and collect all they could of what remained of the UFO, then transporting it to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, for analysis by National Reconnaissance Office and Project BLUEBOOK personnel.

Apart from the Air Force brass and President Lyndon Baines Johnson, nobody had any knowledge of what this object was or where it came from. Speculation was running wild. Astronomers speculated that it might be some kind of “bolide,” a meteor as bright as a full moon that impacts the Earth, causing a big explosion. Ufologists said it was a crashed alien spacecraft, and there were even rumors of several four to five-foot extraterrestrial occupants being reported as disembarking from the object and disappearing in the dense woods.

What fascinated me about this case was the possible connection with one of the many Soviet Venus space probes. In December 2005, just before the 40th anniversary of the Kecksburg incident, a spokesperson for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released a statement reporting that experts had examined metallic fragments from the area and determined they were from a Soviet spy satellite that re-entered the atmosphere and broke up, but records of their findings were supposedly lost in the 1990s.

For Leslie Kean, an investigative reporter for the Sci-Fi Channel, this was totally unsatisfactory. Therefore, he sued NASA under the Freedom of Information Act to obtain the so-called “lost” NASA records. On 26 October 2007, NASA, being ordered by the court, agreed to search for those records. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t too long before Steve McConnell, NASA's public liaison officer, testified that two boxes of papers from the time of the Kecksburg incident were missing. As with the original tapes of the Apollo 11 Moon mission, the Kecksburg files just “disappeared” from NASA’s prevue with no chain of custody for tracing their disposition.

The Venus connection with the strange object that crashed in that rural area outside of the village of Kecksburg in Westmoreland County starts with an eyewitness’ account of the event. In the Wednesday, 9 September 1998 issue of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Post-Gazette, staff writer David Templeton reports that almost immediately after the UFO came down, “Local residents headed toward the landing site.” He added that, “James Romansky and others trailed the object into the woods by observing the arc-wielding flames and bluish sparklers evident through the trees after the landing.
“The object was 12 feet long and six to seven feet in diameter, and shaped like an acorn. It had a ring around the base, just like an acorn, that bore what Romansky described as backward letters…. The craft had no doors or windows. The metal was seamless, with a dent, but bearing no rivets or welds.

“The local men soon were chased away by United States military officials who announced that the landing site was off-limits to all civilians.”
In 1993, James Oberg, a 22-year veteran NASA engineer and specialist in orbital mechanics, as well as an American space journalist and historian, regarded as the foremost expert on both the Chinese and Russian space programs, weighed in on the Kecksburg controversy and declared that it was his opinion that the object was part of the Soviet Venus probe known as Kosmos 96. While the United States Space Command reported that the Kosmos 96 crashed landed in Canada shortly after 3 a.m. on 9 December 1965, more than 12 hours before the Kecksburg crash, Oberg believes that the spacecraft broke up into two sections in orbit before falling down to Earth.

As the author of 'Final Countdown: Rockets to Venus' (Terra Alta, West Virginia: Headline Books, 2017), I explore the vast array of space probes sent to Venus by the United States, Russia/former Soviet Union, Japan and the European Union. To my mind, Oberg is correct in his assessment because Kosmos 96 matches the Kecksburg object in many aspects. It was shaped like an acorn and possessed the ability to maneuver and land on Venus. As a Venus probe, it also was equipped with state-of-the-art heat shield technology so designed to survive a plummet through the electrically charged ionosphere of the second planet, estimated to be around 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That could have allowed the craft to survive the long passage through Earth's atmosphere before landing in Kecksburg. The writing on the spacecraft would have been the Russian Cyrillic alphabet; and all Venera probes from the former Soviet Union were fitted with plaques proclaiming the glories of their country and staking a territorial claim on Venus.

After analyzing all the data, Oberg concluded that the fragments that came down in Canada were most likely the “jettisoned rocket stage of a large piece of space junk, while the probe itself could have headed off toward Kecksburg.” That explains why the United States military would lie, or at least not divulge everything it really knew about the Kecksburg crash.

Back in the 1960s, the United States military intelligence agencies were interested in collecting as much of the Soviet military space debris as possible, dispatching operatives of the National Reconnaissance Office to all parts of the free and non-aligned countries to recover these downed objects, or what was left of them. Stanton Friedman, the famed nuclear physicist from the University of Chicago and prominent UFO investigator, was even dispatched on orders from the Central Intelligence Agency, to West Africa in 1962 to recover a downed Soviet satellite. While international law required that such debris be returned to the country of origin, we all know that this wasn’t going to happen until every bit of knowledge concerning the design and application of each recovered item had been determined. Therefore, in the midst of the Cold War, it was clear that hardware from the Kosmos 96, with all of its missile-warhead shielding, would have been much too valuable to return to the Soviet Union.

When it comes down to what crashed in Kecksburg, as far as the former Soviet authorities, and now Russian Space Agency spokespersons are concerned, they would only speculate that anything that crash-landed in American turf was probably American spy technology that the United States was too embarrassed to acknowledge.

In May 1998, Stan Gordon interviewed Russian Cosmonaut Viktor P. Savinykh, who then served as rector of Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography. Gordon said, “I took the opportunity through an interpreter to ask him whether he could help solve the Kecksburg mystery. He, too, suggested rather emphatically, and with some laughter, that whatever plunged into Kecksburg surely was some faulty American technology.”
But none of this takes into account one of the United States Air Force’s most top secret programs during the 1960s, Project WHITE STORK (United States Air Force Foreign Technology Division, Soviet Effort to Contact Extraterrestrial Life, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, USAF Historical Archives, 1967) whose very purpose was to monitor and report on the Soviet Union’s progress in searching for and establishing communications with extraterrestrial life. The majority of the space probes dispatched to other bodies in space by the former Soviet Union were targeted for Venus. In my second book in the 'Venus Rising' series, 'Final Countdown: Rockets to Venus,' a fuller extent of the WHITE STORK Venus revelations is presented.

The Kosmos 96, officially designated 3MV-4 No. 6, was a space probe launched as part of the Soviet Venera program, supposedly intended to make a flyby of Venus. Allegedly, however, there was a launch failure that forced the spacecraft into a low Earth orbit. TASS, the Soviet News Agency, reported that the Kosmos 96 was launched on 22 November 1965 on a Molniya 8K78 rocket. In light of the WHITE STORK revelations, however, I wonder if the Kosmos 96 may have actually been sent up during a much earlier launch window, as part of the Soviet Union’s clandestine space program, whence it skimmed samples from the Venusian atmosphere pushed off as a long tail from the planet’s North Pole by the strong solar wind, to be followed by a return voyage to Earth. The actual samples could then be analyzed by experts from the Soviet Academy of Sciences to prove the existence of a suitable atmosphere for the later human exploration of Venus, and possibly the presence of primitive life forms, like microorganisms, on our sister planet.

We must always keep in mind that as far as space exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life, primitive or advanced, the official policy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union has always reflected the Marxist-Leninist materialist philosophy that, “Life is a normal and inevitable consequence of the development of matter, and intelligence is a normal consequence of the existence of life.”

Hairy Man's Warning Whistle (Cherokee Bigfoot Tradition)

The Cherokee believe that the Hairy Man or Stone Man will give them a warning whistle when it's time to vacate the woods
A reader submitted the following narrative for publication:

I've been reading so many theories about Bigfoot, to me, it's somewhat comical. I believe that certain people are allowed to witness these creatures, in particular those people who have traditionally lived among them. I'm not sure what other people are seeing.

My family has lived in Jackson County, NC for as long as anyone can remember. We are Cherokee. There are stories of 'Stone Man' or hairy savages seen by our people historically throughout the Qualla Boundary. I have a story told to me by my Grandfather when I was a boy.

Grandpa Parker talked about the large garden and cornfields his parents maintained. They would grow heirloom bean and tomato varieties that came from hundreds of years in Cherokee culture. They kept a few field animals, but at that time, they didn't raise livestock.

After a while, his parents decided that they would try raising chickens. He helped his father build a large chicken house, and another small barn that would be used as a workshop. Everything went well, and after a few years, their flock of egg-laying hens were prospering. His father was also a very good handyman and fixed equipment for other farmers in the area.

One day, just before the harvest season, Grandpa Parker and his father went hunting in the woods west of the farm. Their main quarry was squirrel that day. As they reached their regular spot along a ridge thick with hickory trees, his father looked worried. They rarely talked or made any noise while in the woods, but his father suddenly started to whistle in a long sustained tone. They sat quietly on the boulder for a few minutes, until his father once again let out a long whistle.

"We need to move" his father abruptly said. They got up and started to briskly walk on the trail towards the farm. When they reached the end of the woods, they heard a loud whistle coming from the direction where they came. They cut through the cornfield and quickly reached the workshop. Grandpa Parker was becoming worried. His father didn't say anything, just directing him to stay with him.

His mother was in the garden working, when his father shouted out to her to go to the house. They all met at the door by the kitchen and went inside. He and his father sat at the table while his mother cooked coffee. "Why did we leave the woods?"

His father looked at him and asked if he had every heard anyone talk about 'the Hairy Man?" Grandpa Parker told him that he had not. He was scared now.

My Great Grandfather said that the Hairy Man was a tall hairy human-like creature that would migrate to different locations along the mountains following food sources. When they were in the woods, he had noticed that there were no birds or other natural sounds as they approached the ridge. He said that he noticed something large in the hollow, much larger than a black bear and walking like a man. He whistled hoping it would move on, but he didn't notice it move or make any sound. From his experience, that was an indication that it was time to leave because the Bear Man was staying put. The return whistle they heard was a warning to stay out of the woods.

When my Great Grandfather was younger, a woman and her young boy went missing in a woodland in nearby Swain County, NC. People had seen a Hairy Man in the area and suspected that it was responsible for the disappearance. There had been other disappearances previous to that. No remains were ever found.

The next day, his father decided to start harvesting corn. This year, a large patch of cornfield nearest to the woods was left unharvested. His mother also left several baskets of potatoes at the woods edge that winter. They didn't want any problems from the Hairy Man, especially since he was known to raid chicken houses.

One evening, while he and his father were working in the shop, they heard a long whistle coming from the woods. His father smiled and said "don't mind that - Hairy Man is saying 'thank you.'"

The next spring, they once again went into the woods to hunt. The Hairy Man had moved on. JP

7 Ft. Tall Humanoid Observed in Vermilion, Ohio

A teen in Vermilion, Ohio encounters a tall humanoid figure while walking home at night. It seems to be very similar to the sightings from Mount Vernon, Ohio in 2018
I received a report of a humanoid in Vermilion, Ohio. The description was very similar to the reports I received in 2018 from Mount Vernon, Ohio:

I seen this exact creature in Vermilion, Ohio mid 2010-2012. I was at a friend's house around 4 am and was walking home. I saw a cop sitting at my local Drug Mart and it being past curfew, and since I was around 15 yrs old, I walked under the bridge onto a trail by our YMCA. I did this in order to walk through the woods and pass the cop so I could make it home. I was texting my friend while walking.

I had heard rocks being shuffled on the train tracks above, so I looked up and as my eyes were adjusting to the darkness I saw this creature. It had cleared two 10 ft ditches running bipedally up a hill onto an abandoned gravel clearing. It was no more than 60 ft in front of me. It covered the distance within 4-5 seconds, cleared the 2 ditches up the hill through the gravel and disappeared into the woods without making a sound. After it entered the treeline I turned on my phone flashlight while walking up to the edge of the woods. It had completely disappeared. I describe it as 7-8 ft tall, hairless, skinny appendages, oversized feet and hands, inhumanly fast, oval head.

I had to continue through the woods for about 5 more minutes, completely terrified with every hair on my body standing up like needles. I got chills reading that someone experienced the exact same creature I did. It thankfully didn't stop to look at me like in the Mount Vernon State Highway 13 sighting. I couldn't see any facial features as my eyes were readjusting to the darkness from my phone light. But nevertheless, it was the most frightening encounter I have ever had. DG

This is a 3rd report of a humanoid sighting in the Mount Vernon, Ohio area. The eyewitness' daughter contacted me:

Hi, I am reaching out not as a hoax but to let you know that I received a phone call from my mom in Mount Vernon, Ohio recently telling me that she saw a figure of what appeared to be an alien come in one side of her basement and go out the other end of the basement. She describes this thing as being tall with long arms, and she didn’t see his face as she watched him from a side view but she did say that his head looked just like the one in this picture I’ve attached (from my last report and above). I wish to have her identity anonymous please if she is not contacted. I thought you might be interested to know that there has been another sighting in this area. My mom said that she wasn’t scared nor did she feel any danger by this presence and that it just came in and left. Thank you....

2nd Humanoid Sighting in Mount Vernon, Ohio

Mount Vernon, Ohio: As I was driving home on 31 July 2018 at 01:43 on Ohio state route 13 north of Mount Vernon, OH a 7-8ft tall, skinny, humanoid like creature ran across the road out of a corn field across into a soybean field (from a east to west direction). I noticed the creature in my headlights from 50-75 ft away as I was traveling at a rate of 55-60mph. As it came out of the cornfield I immediately let off the accelerator. At first thinking it was a deer but then seen the creature walked upright. It was 7-8 ft in height, tall slender body, arms and legs small in diameter, hands and feet looked over-sized for its body proportion, small neck with oval elongated head, being dark tan to light brown skin tone and had no body hair. The creature slightly turned its head towards my vehicles headlights and I seen the creatures black eyes and small mouth just open slightly as it continued to run across the road. It barely took 2-3 steps and it was across the road at a tremendous rate of speed. I was in total shock and thought I should check it out at first but then thought for a second and being uncertain of what I may have just seen I had better get out of the area. I lost sight of the entity due to darkness. I am a 24 year USAF retired aircrew veteran with a top secret security clearance. Not to be totally bliss but would someone please advise me on what I seen because it still and truly and frightened me. - MUFON
