ANOMALOUS CHINA: Cryptids, Humanoids, & Alien Visitors

Several years ago, I posted a piece about legendary and modern cryptids & humanoids of China. I tweaked the original account a bit and added a few updates. I hope you enjoy it.

HAIRY BEAST

Location/Date: Hong Kong, China - March 1955 - evening

Doors were barred in Hong Kong as the police searched for a hairy beast, said by terrified residents to be a shaggy animal over 6 ft tall. One man, a village gardener named Law Chiu had fought it and lived. The thing attacked him about 50 yards from the family temple. It was covered with long, shaggy gray hair. It stood upright when it came at him. He punched it in the stomach but the creature fell on him and they grappled for some time. The creature then went away, loping on all fours. Sometime after that a woman saw a strange animal galloping past her vegetable garden on four legs, and as proof, she exhibited large triangular footprints in the soft earth. They were unlike those made by a man or ape.

FAMILY ABDUCTED

Location/Date: Ping Wu, Szechwan Province, China - March 7, 1987 - midnight

A family of three, including a young child was awakened by a loud high-pitched hum coming from outside their small home. All three went outside to investigate and were nearly blinded by a beam of yellowish light coming from a huge reddish-orange object shaped like a straw hat that hovered above them, slowly spinning. The hum grew louder and all three had a strange floating sensation then blacked out.

They all woke up and found themselves strapped to three steel tables in a circular room. The woman began screaming then a tiny hatchway opened in the wall and five 3-foot tall humanoid creatures stepped into the room. They were human in shape but with featureless faces with three huge whitish eyes on their foreheads. Their skin appeared transparent and bluish in color. The creatures said nothing as they proceeded to remove blood from the arms of all three abductees. They then inserted long needles into their knees and ankle joints. The husband and the child appeared to have been in a trance-like state during the incident. Electrode-like devices were taped to their skulls and the woman was again able to hear the loud high-pitched hum that they initially heard outside their home. One of the beings made an incision on the child's thigh that was immediately healed by a pencil-like device that was passed over it. Moments later the room became dark and everything began spinning.

Their next conscious memory was walking on a roadside 7 miles from their home.

3 NIGHTS, 3 ABDUCTIONS

Location/Date: Peking, China - May 1, 1981 - 9:00pm

The witness was sleeping at a hostel dormitory with many others when a voice woke him up telling him that he was going to be taken onboard an object. A small craft then entered the room apparently passing right through the wall. A beam of light shone on him and he was apparently then reduced in size and lifted up into the object, which left at high speed.

Inside the craft, he saw a lighted circular chamber and was able to see stars through an opened porthole. In the center of the room, there was a screen showing a constellation and stars. Seated at the screen was a blond young woman. She spoke to him and took him to a large launching area where many objects of different shapes and sizes were parked near a control tower. Later he was returned from where he had been taken from.

The next evening, the witness was again sleeping when he heard a voice inviting him inside an object. He was lifted up and taken onboard a craft through a porthole. Inside he met two "normal" Chinese girls and the blond woman from the previous encounter. They were shown a screen where they saw a series of images showing different periods of Chinese history, concluding with a view of the earth as it used to be. They landed at the "launching" area where he saw numerous human-like beings. He found himself being transported through the air and then placed on a slab where he was given a detailed physical examination. He was later returned.

The brother of the main witness reported seeing a large craft-like object that entered his room and landed on the floor. Several small men dressed in one-piece garments and carrying what appeared to be "surgical" instruments emerged. They laid the witness down on his bed and opened up his stomach. They sewed it back up and departed without saying a word.

The very next night, the witness was sleeping when he felt somebody push him. He opened his eyes and saw a strange man standing in front of him. The man was covered completely with short gray hair and had two long fangs in his mouth. The being waved an arm and the witness floated up into the air and into a landed object outside the house. The witness was then taken to a large base where he saw many similar hairy beings that appeared to be engaged in repairing landed UFOs. While the witness was being brought back to his home a blond girl who he had previously encountered asked him several questions and he was also allowed to ask some himself.

CRASHED ALIEN CRAFT

Location/Date: Gobi Desert, Outer Mongolia, China - 1982 - unknown time

Chinese military units accidentally stumbled upon a crashed alien spacecraft in this isolated desert region. A retrieval team was summoned and the site was properly cordoned off. Everything possible was done to avoid any information leaked to civilians and to other Chinese military sections. The craft was slightly damaged and abandoned by its crew. It was about 10 meters long and about 2.5-3 meters in diameter. Its shape was cylindrical, with a very durable surface. Sophisticated equipment apparently used by alien entities was found inside the cabin, with chairs for 2 or 3 entities. The cylinder was loaded upon a platform on a flatbed truck or railroad carriage and moved to a must-secured underground Government research installation in a military range southwest of Beijing under the Taihang-Shan Mountains. The alien spacecraft was subjected to extensive study and research. Another UFO, which crashed in 1973, was also stored at the site.

NOTE: The Taihang Shan Mountains contain a network of underground tunnels for Chinese strategic missiles. Speculation is that part of that underground network is used to hide rumored crashed UFOs as well as remains of alien beings.

In January 2005 in the area that borders Nepal, tourists returning from Nepal were talking about a possible UFO crash in that country. The talk was also rampant in Katmandu, the capital of Nepal, and other Nepali cities. The crash site is on the deep Himalayan border of Nepal and China. According to sources, the crash site may have been close to Mount Everest and is totally inaccessible from either side. The rumor is that the Chinese military was actively looking for the crashed craft. It is also rumored that the 'human-like' extraterrestrials were not allowing anyone to get close to the site.

Unusual activities and some tremors were felt all over the Himalayan regions from both the Indian and Nepalese sides. Also, UFO activity increased sharply in that area, possibly related to the supposed crash. It is possible that the crash was nothing more than a Chinese spacecraft. China had some secret military projects in that area.

In January, the weather is so inclement that is almost impossible to reach the area, everything is frozen over. According to some, it is possible that underground UFO bases in the region were damaged by the tremor and strange aftershocks were being felt since the huge 9.0 Richter scale quake in December 2004 in Sumatra, which caused the huge tsunami - Lon

TWO TALL SHIPS SAILING ON THE CLOUDS

Location/Date: Yugiu, Jiangsu, China - 1523 - daytime

A teacher named Lu Yu who lived in the village of Yugiu was standing outside his home under a torrential rain when he noticed two “ships” which were sailing on top of the clouds above some ruins across from his home. On the two ships “which measured more than ten arms each” he could see several tall men wearing each one a hat and multicolored clothing. They were holding a “pole” in each hand as the ships moved quickly overhead.

The teacher Lu Yu then alerted “ten well-read men” who stood beside him to observe the phenomenon. The ships then descended over the teacher and the ten other men and took the men onboard the ships. The multicolored clothed beings “then passed their hands over the mouths of the well-read scribes who could not speak anymore.” At this time other men appeared on one of the ships, escorted like a Mandarin and accompanied by a monk.

Sometime later the ships flew away, through the clouds, and were seen descending about a kilometer away near a cemetery. When the ships left the “ten well-read scribes” were able to speak again. But five days later, Lu Yu died of unknown causes.

THE YEREN

The Yeren, otherwise known as the Chinese wildman, is a hairy humanoid that is said to inhabit the dense forests of China. About man-sized, and it has quite distinctive red hair.

The Yeren usually sounds like a bipedal, more human-like version of an orangutan. It could be an orangutan that has evolved to fill a more ground-dwelling niche, with associated bipedalism and thus it ends up looking like a Bigfoot or missing link through sheer coincidence. Bipedalism has evolved independently in the ape family at least two times, so it is at least slightly possible that this has happened yet again with an isolated population of orangutans.

In some reports, Yeren sounds less like bipedal orangutans and more like standard ape-like hominids such as Bigfoot. These reports typically describe a creature varying between six and seven feet tall, with a heavy, muscular build and anatomical features that lean more towards the human side than towards the ape side. Fur colors are also more variable, with fewer instances of red. Some reports in this category sound are so human-like that the yeren is thought by some researchers to be a primitive species of human, such as a Neanderthal man.

THE CYNOCEPHALI

The Cynocephali exist in the mythology of Europe, India, and China though there have been sporadic encounters through the centuries. The legends in the Chinese culture originally said that the Cynocephali resided somewhere in the wild lands west of Tibet and north of Persia (modern-day Iran). The Cynocephali were described as shapeshifters who could change from human to dog, but who always retained some animal features when they became human again.

If real Cynocephali exists, it is hard to decide what sort of animal they might be. It was once thought that these legends might be garbled accounts of baboons, monkeys with dog-like snouts. Further studies have suggested that the Cynocephali tales are actually based on dog ancestor origin myths from various tribes in the Chinese wilderness. According to these Western writers, whole races of people were deliberately killed because they weren't human, they were "really" monsters.

SEDUCED BY AN ALIEN HUMANOID

She was three meters tall, had 12 fingers, and braided leg hair - and she wanted to make love with him, Meng Zhaoguo said.

So the farmer from Heilongjiang and the robust extra-terrestrial seductress had intimate moments - while levitating - for about 40 minutes, claims Meng, who is the protagonist of what is perhaps China's best-known alien abduction report.

Meng says he was working outside in Heilongjiang's Wuchang in 1994 when he saw a metallic shimmering on a mountainside. He went to investigate, believing it was likely a downed helicopter when he blacked out.

When he came to, he was confused and unable to communicate with other people. He had also developed an extreme fear of anything made of iron.

Later that night, the female humanoid visited him, he says.

"I didn't believe in aliens before I actually met them," he tells China Daily. "Seeing is believing. We cannot explain UFOs and aliens because our technology isn't advanced enough. But that doesn't mean such things don't exist."

He passed a lie detector test conducted by the police.

Meng said he met other extraterrestrials after that.

"The aliens showed me a piece of crystal through which I saw forests, icebergs, and fossil fuels on the Earth.

"They told me about the current situation facing Earth's resources and warned me about the importance of environmental protection," he said.

The aliens also told him that the offspring of him and the female extraterrestrial would appear 60 years from when they had sex.

Meng's account is met with both skepticism and belief - not only by the general public but also by the country's growing community of ufologists, who study reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

Chinese interest in, and sightings of, UFOs have been increasing, especially since one shut down Xiaoshan Airport in Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou for about an hour on June 7, making world headlines.

The hovering object affected 18 flights and about 2,000 passengers.

There have been eight more mass sightings since, with the latest shutting down the airport in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region's Baotou city for about an hour on Sept 11, ABC News reported.

Unexplained sightings reported to the Beijing UFO Research Organization (BURO) have increased from about 100 in 2008 to more than 200 this year, says the organization's Secretary-General Zhou Xiaoqiang, who was also part of the Xiaoshan Airport investigation team.

"As material and cultural life improves in China, more people can use cameras to photograph and film the strange things they see," the 62-year-old says. "Also, media broadcasts are making the UFO a more popular concept in China, and the Internet makes it easier to file reports."

Zhou points out that sightings spike around festivals.

"That's because fireworks, lanterns, and kites are everywhere. For example, a flashing triangular UFO could be a kite with lights," Zhou explains.

Zhou puts the chances that UFOs carry extraterrestrial visitors at "zero" and says there have been less than 10 abduction reports in the country.

Wang Sichao, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Purple Mountain Observatory in Jiangsu's provincial capital Nanjing, says China's UFO reports are "more credible" than those in other countries. And there are fewer abduction reports.

"The aliens that are reported here are all different. Some are humanoid, some have large heads and eyes, some conduct sexual experiments, some speak Chinese and others use a kind of universal language.

But the one thing all these claims have in common is a lack of solid evidence."

Meng describes the extraterrestrials he says he met - he had a second encounter with others after he met the female - as speaking Chinese.

"The aliens showed me a piece of crystal, through which I saw forests, icebergs, and fossil fuels on the Earth," he says. "They told me about the current situation facing Earth's resources and warned me about the importance of environmental protection."

But that's not all they told him, he says.

"They said that 60 years from then, there will be an alien born with the genes of an earthling farmer, and I can meet him or her," he says, referring to the offspring he says he sired with the extraterrestrial female.

While many within China's ufology community are skeptical of abduction reports such as Meng's, International Chinese UFO Association sighting investigation department head Zhang Jingping believes people should remain open-minded.

"We have invented aircraft, and we have landed on the moon. Why is it impossible that aliens are visiting us?" says the 42-year-old. Zhang has led research on Meng's case, including arranging for police to administer a lie-detector test, which he says Meng passed.

Wang says China has about 60 researchers and 10 NGOs involved in serious UFO studies. The country's ufology community was put on the map in 2005 when Liaoning province's Dalian city was selected as the World UFO Conference site.

American nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, who worked on classified government projects for 14 years and is perhaps the world's most celebrated ufologist, told China Daily at the conference that, "ufology is blossoming in China".

He has since been "impressed" by the serious discussions in the country's press, he says.

"China's space program is moving rapidly, and so is its serious discussion of UFOs," he says.

"I am indeed optimistic that Chinese researchers will be making more contributions to our knowledge of this very important phenomenon - visits to Planet Earth by intelligently controlled alien spacecraft."

Be they unexplained natural phenomena or the cruisers of universe-trotting ETs - or something else entirely - UFOs are unlikely to stop appearing over China anytime soon.

And when they do appear, there will be a growing number of Chinese with their eyes on the skies.

Experiencer Recalls ALIEN ENCOUNTER as 'Pure Love & Tranquility'

An experiencer recalls an alien encounter that they had when younger. The feeling of pure love and tranquillity dominated the incident, though the experiencer was left confused.

"When I was 12, I lived out in Twentynine Palms, California in the middle of the desert. One night around June 14th, 2015, I remember being awake in the middle of the night to a black silhouette that was shaped just like a short 'Gray.' It was staring straight down at me and I was staring at its face. It had its hand on my forehead and its skin was so abnormally smooth, soft, and warm. I was filled with pure love and tranquillity. I intuitively knew that everything was going to be okay. My mind was completely clear of any thoughts. As if it was controlling my mind. And for some reason, it started making me count upward in my head.

Once I got to 3, I went unconscious. I eventually woke up again still laying in bed and everything in the room was the same except the entity was just gone. I sat up and immediately thought 'WTF' was that and what just happened? I was able to think again and I was just so confused at what this all meant.

I often question whether or not that intensely reassuring feeling was actually supposed to mean something or if it was just a way for it to make me relax so it could do what it came to do. But I just don’t understand why it seemed to have let me remember that moment instead of making me just forget the entire experience. I may not ever know." Sxmhh925

The Return of the Okeechobee Ogre

By David Hoes - A Florida couple from Palmdale reported their sighting of a large, hairy, bigfoot-like creature. They spotted the creature while they were camping along Fisheating Creek close to Lakeport, Florida. They were camping near some Indian Mounds, not far from the site of Fort Center, an area that saw heavy fighting during the Second Seminole War. Lakeport is a small retirement and fishing community on the west side of Lake Okeechobee. The mounds are considered a sacred site for Native Americans and contain artifacts along with human remains. There is a small artificial lake among the mounds that are believed to have been a charnel pond for human corpses.

This couple reported hearing and then seeing a large hairy beast outside their tent in the middle of the night. The next morning, they found the carcass of a partially eaten deer nearby. They also found some long reddish-brown hairs on a branch.

Although it has now been mostly forgotten, back in the late 1990s, the Lakeport area was the epicenter of a wave of skunk ape sightings.

The first sighting, which wasn't widely reported, happened early one morning in 1995 or 1996., Two hunters and their dogs were traveling by boat down Fisheating Creek, intending to hunt on ranch land that borders both sides of the creek. They were hunting illegally, so they were trying to sneak in and out without being seen.

As they traveled down the creek in their boat they heard something on shore and then caught a bad scent. Thinking it might be wild hogs, the hunters steered the boat to shore and the hunter upfront prepared to jump out. However, his dogs refused to leave the boat.

The hunter finally jumped on shore and his flashlight shone on a large creature covered in dark hair that was standing on its hind legs. The hunter immediately jumped back in the boat and the other hunter threw the boat into reverse and headed back out into deeper water. They could hear the creature trying to follow them. According to the hunters, "That it wasn't no bear"

The first widely reported sighting was on November 2, 1997. Fishing guide Ronald Mosley was taking a young couple on an airboat tour when the woman saw what she described as someone in an ape suit. Neither Mosley nor her husband saw the creature, which disappeared into the woods.

Although the woman's claim was not taken seriously, two local fishermen had a sighting a few weeks later. Brian Hammock claimed that he and a companion saw a creature emerge from an alligator hole on the bank. The creature was reported as being hairy and about 6 or 7 feet tall. It left the water and disappeared into the sawgrass. Brian reported going to the area after his sighting and seeing tracks and noticing a "god awful" smell.

By the summer of 1998, there had been quite a few more sightings of what came to be known as "The Okeechobee Ogre." Locals were selling memorabilia and guides were taking visitors on skunk ape tours. There was even an Ogre webcam. According to Fish Camp owner Jim Smith, his camp was "Skunk Ape Central". Smith had several sightings of the creature and made several plaster casts of his prints.

According to Smith the creature is about 7 feet tall and has a horrible smell. Smith claimed to be leaving fish guts out for the creature to eat.

Over time, sightings dropped off. The webcam was taken down; the t-shirts stopped selling. The creature disappeared. Until now.

Bizarre HORSE-HEADED/CRAWLER HUMANOID Observed in Northeast Ohio

A group of friends observes, on several occasions, a bizarre horse-headed creature that has characteristics similar to that of a crawler humanoid, but different in other respects.

"Two of my friends snuck out last summer and took a walk listening to music. They decided to sit down on the road and talked a bit, and they both heard a distant scream that sounded pretty similar to an elk screech but for like 1 second in duration. So they turned off the music and saw a huge humanoid horse-looking thing sprint out of this forest into a field and they said it was running REALLY fast like 40 mph. They said it was kind of hunched and had a limp, was lean but muscular, and was completely pale/grey and naked. They both sprinted home and Facebooked each other when they got home and told me and a few others about it the next day.

I was in disbelief so I snuck out on my bike the next night with my other friend and met up with the 2 original people along with some others and went looking for it. We heard the noises they described and I and my one friend saw a pale Bigfoot-looking creature walk in front of someone’s barn light like 300 yards away but we’re not sure.

We continued to do this for a few nights and one of them was walking to meet up with us alone to go looking for it and had seen it like 5 times on the walk there, sometimes like 20 feet in front of him. We probably all went looking for it 6 or 7 times in total. The last time we went looking we all saw it and it was super tall, like 8-10 feet, super fast, and had these glowing eyes you could see from a mile away. I'm pretty sure I also saw it have these long greasy locks/strands of hair about shoulder length. It looked like a mix between a crawler, Eren Yaeger Titan form, and Jeff the Killer. It was creepy. Then it was on the pavement you could hear clopping noises like it had hooves or something.

Aside from this, I was on a late-night gas station walk later that summer with 2 of my friends at 3 in the morning. On our way back we saw something run/hobble across the road about 70 yards in front of us and it looked pretty similar. However, it was much smaller, maybe 5 feet tall but I could see it being maybe 7 feet if it was standing fully upright. This was in rural northeast Ohio.

I forgot to add that we were walking on the way back to my friend's house one of the nights and behind somebody’s house we heard the noise of a baby crying in the woods. I couldn’t have been mistaken for anything else but a baby. As soon as you bat an eye at that thing he went zoom. You had to be looking in the right place at the right time. Half the people would see it and be like “OH THERE HE IS!” The other half would look over and he’d be gone. I don’t think he was a “crawler” since those are slow. This dude was super quick. My first thought when I heard my friend explain it was Wendigo. It could have been, not sure.

I’ve seen its full body a few times and the first time it was sprinting like 60 mph in a field propelling itself with its front legs, and its back legs were really short and limp like T-Rex arms. I don’t believe it was hairy but I do recall seeing some long greasy locks about shoulder length. There’s a movie I remember seeing on Netflix called 'Sorry to Bother You,' and in the movie, there are these tall green-looking humanoids with horse heads who used to be people but took a drug and it turned them into horse people. Look it up, it looked similar, mixed with a crawler, and about 10 or 15 feet tall standing. I remember seeing it next to a ranch house and it was easily taller than the house. I would describe the way it runs as somewhat like a chicken." dextroamphetaminee

Is There an Aquatic Cryptid in Lake Memphrémagog?

Memphre, a water creature that is said to live in Lake Memphrémagog, has taunted skeptics for more than 180 years. The lake monster supposedly resembles a sea serpent.

Lake Memphremagog: The Legend Of Memphre

The border separating Quebec from Vermont runs through dairy fields, traverses a small wood, and crosses an abbreviated beach before diving a little over 300 feet under the cold waters of Lake Memphremagog, a 39-square-mile amoeba of glacial water that either does or doesn't contain a 30-foot-long monster. If the lake doesn't contain a monster, its most notable feature is probably its hilly shore, which bursts into riotous color come fall and presents an inviting destination for American leaf peepers exploring the Northeast Kingdom and Montreal homme d'affaires on weekend getaways.

The lake is bookended by two charming towns, Newport, Vermont, and Magog, Canada, which display very different sensibilities. Newport has the look of a mill town with a brick main drag and neighborhoods full of small homes for the tradesmen who hang out downtown in greasy spoon diners. The best view in town is from the church and everybody nods or waves to everybody else. Magog is a larger place and many of the Victorian homes just outside the lengthy town center, which contains multiple practical footwear stores and a sex shop, are bed and breakfasts. There is a town park by the water where neighbors walk together and fail to smile at strangers and where a sign reminds visitors to look for Memphre, which is the name of the monster.

Memphre got his name from Jacques Boisvert, who called himself a "dracontologist" and lived in a clapboard house three minutes out of Magog. Boisvert, who died in 2006, was the Canadian ambassador to Memphre. Along with Barbara Malloy, the head of the Memphremagog Historical Society of Newport, he publicized the serpent and, in so doing, the region.

The region on both sides of the border -- crossing requires little more than a few minutes of small talk with a customs officer -- is quiet and pretty. The delights of this landscape, the maple trees, and postcard-ready barns are no more ostentatious than the people who inhabit it. The syrup is sold out of mud rooms and, aggressive Quebecois driving aside, courtesy seems to be the great cultural achievement. In Magog, neighbors spend a lot of time raking each other's lawns.

In this context, Boisvert's monstrous story has a distinct appeal. It helps, of course, that the story also has compelling details: A Viking petroglyph found at the top of a mountain near the lake showed a serpent and, when Europeans first arrived in the area, they'd been warned off swimming in the lake by natives with similar concerns. Of course, Boisvert had also seen the beast. As had Mrs. Malloy.

"At first, when you see it is pitch dark," Malloy told Huffington Post Travel by phone. "When I first saw it, it was coming in from the Canadian border. I thought it was a jet skier because it was moving fast, but when it turned to go south more it was parallel to the road and I could see from the side view that it had a head like a horse, a long neck, and a big body. As it got closer I could see that it was pretty tall and as long as a house. Then it turned again and went towards the west shore and, as it swam out it disappeared into the mist because it had been raining."

The Birth of the Memphremagog Monster

Until the beginning of the 19th century, the only inhabitants of the area around Memphrémagog were the Abenaki...because of the abundance of game and fish. When the first white settlers arrived, they were warned by the Abenaki not to swim in the lake because of the presence of the sea serpent. Among the varied descriptions, it is said to be more or less aggressive and on several occasions, is said to reside in a cave at the base of Owl's Head Mountain, on the shore of the lake.

The first document describing the creature dates back to 1816 and is signed by Ralph Merry IV. He describes four experiences by the citizens of Georgeville that he finds to be totally credible. He, however, was not a witness to any of these phenomena but only reported the facts as he knew them. He reports what individuals and groups of individuals saw in different areas and at different times. The descriptions usually coincide with the length and appearance of the serpent-like creature. In his accounts, Mr. Merry does not refer to the sea serpent but rather to one of the sea serpents of Memphrémagog.

Also, on several occasions since 1847, The Stanstead Journal has published several articles on this phenomenon, some relating numerous sightings that the lakeshore residents have witnessed. These sightings continued throughout the years.

To date, more than 215 sightings have been reported and documented with great care. Each account is signed and recorded; hearsay accounts are simply refused. There are on average, eight sightings annually which have been confirmed by about twenty witnesses.

In 1961, two fishermen, heading for Newport observed for about forty seconds a black creature, about 20 feet long, swimming partially submerged. According to these men the creature that was about 200 feet from their boat, had a round back and an indescribable head. This scene was accompanied by a strange sound.

In July 1996, four persons witnessed its presence after observing it for more than a minute. According to them, the creature had several humps, was about 20 feet long, and swam about 50 yards between their boat and the shore. This sighting which took place about 7 p.m. is similar to one that took place about 4 p.m. some 10 miles away as observed by three other persons.

The description of a three-humped creature coincides with that of September 1994 given by four persons in two different boats. The weather was overcast but the lake was calm not a wave, and no wind, they observed for at least three minutes from each of their two boats and object 40 to 50 feet long type of wave-shaped like three humps and black in color.

This adventure ended for them when the creature swam under one of the boats and disappeared into the depths of the lake.

Rare are those who can boast of having seen the phenomenon on more than one occasion. This is however the case of two Montrealers who after a first sighting in May of 1995, saw the sea serpent again in August of the same year. Better yet, they were able to obtain a film clip that was used in a documentary on the Canada D channel the following October.

Lake Memphremagog's signature mystery has returned.

Barbara Malloy, a Newport City resident, and local historian, said this week she saw Memphre the Lake Memphremagog monster on May 1.

Like Nessie in the Loch Ness of Scotland or Champ in Lake Champlain, Memphre is the stuff of local legend and history.

It's not the first sighting of the creature that many claim to have seen on this long international lake.

Area newspapers like The Stanstead (Quebec) Journal have recorded sightings of something big and elusive in the lake as far back as the 1840s. On Jan. 21, 1847, an eyewitness reported this: "I am not aware whether it is generally known that a strange animal something of a sea serpent ... exists in Lake Memphremagog."

But it was known long before that. According to historical accounts, American Indians told the first Europeans that there was something in the lake.

Malloy first saw it in the waters off Horseneck Island and again north of the island in 1983.

Memphre is believed to look somewhat like a plesiosaur, a water-living dinosaur of the Jurassic period, brown or black in color, with four fins or paddle-like feet, an elongated roundish body, and a long neck. It ranges from 6 to 50 feet long. Popular drawings or artwork show his skin color as green, but that obviously depends on the eyewitness.

This time, Malloy said she saw a jet-black hump in the water, which bobbed up and down and then disappeared. Malloy said Thursday another Newport resident confirmed the sighting, only she saw a larger and a smaller hump, but the woman did not wish to go public.

Others have come forward over the years to record their sightings with Malloy and other "deontologists" like Magog, Quebec resident Jacques Boisvert who keep track of such mysteries in this 30-mile-long lake.

Boisvert named Lake Memphremagog's own sea serpent Memphre, which is pronounced with a long "e" at the end, suitable for use in French or English.

A monk at the monastery at St. Benoit-du-lac near Magog coined the term dracontologie for Boisvert. Dracontology, the English version, is a branch of cryptozoology, for all kinds of mysterious creatures of legend, like Big Foot.

The name even meets the requirements of the Quebec French Language Office, responsible for preserving and protecting the French language in Quebec, Boisvert said Thursday.

Boisvert, a renowned diver and local historian, had never seen Memphre himself but said he keeps an open mind. He and Malloy collaborated for a while in the 1980s on publicizing the Memphre legend and history.

Both collect sightings and have Web sites to keep the information alive.

Malloy has a display of Memphre memorabilia and sighting information in the Emory Hebard state office building on Main Street in Newport City. Boisvert is heavily into promoting the use of Memphre as a tourist attraction in Magog and speaks and writes regularly about the history of the lake.

Vermont Secretary of State Deb Markowitz is into a little promotion of her own. She has a children's page of the state Web site, featuring drawings and information about both Memphre and Champ.

There have been attempts to photograph Memphre, but there is no definite evidence. Malloy took pictures in 1989, but they show a dark object sticking out of the water and making a wake. Discounters say these pictures could be of other things. One recent photograph turned out to be a moose swimming across the lake.

Yet the stories of Memphre capture and captivate the imagination. And it brings an air of mystery to this already lovely international lake.

CRAWLER HUMANOID Encountered While Jackrabbit Hunting in Western Idaho

A group of friends and family were hunting jackrabbits in western Idaho at night when they spotlighted a tall lanky humanoid figure after hearing blood-curdling screams.

"This incident occurred in western Idaho. This account comes from a very close family friend of my grandpa, his name is Neil. He's the kind of person that wouldn't lie about something like this and I honestly believe his story. This story was told while I was on a hunting trip with my grandpa, father, a few of my uncles, Neil, and one or two other people. I don't know exactly how the conversation led to talking about strange and unknown things seen in the wild, but here we were. This was a few years ago, so forgive me if I've forgotten some details.

Neil's story. A few years back (he described it to be about the early 1990s) and one of my friends had gotten permission to go and hunt jackrabbits on another one of my friend's properties out in a very remote part of western Idaho (I can't remember exactly where. But they had come an hour or two from the Weiser area in). The property was out in the middle of the desert quite far from any small town or city. We entered on the north side of the property over a cattle guard and through a gate. The property was kind of in a valley and was divided into a very large flat plain mostly on one half and then on the other was a very large hill that spanned the length of the private land. It had an elevation of probably 200 to 300 ft give or take.

That night we had been working the flatter part of the land with the spotlight on my truck and flashlights in hand shooting the rabbits. It was a clear night and the moon was probably 3/4ths full, so it was relatively easy to see some elements of the property by the moonlight. We started a little after dusk and by this time it was about midnight and were about 2/3rds down the length of the property when we heard this, unhuman, blood-curdling scream come from the eastern side of where the hill ran. I looked at my friend and we both froze. We were at the truck using the spotlight looking for rabbits when it happened. We were probably 200 to 300 yards from the base of the hill so the top of the hill was probably another 100 yards or so from the base to the top.

As I started to scan the hillside with my scope the creature screamed again. I then followed the sound and saw a tall lanky humanoid figure standing with the upper half of its body silhouetted against the sky at the top of the hill. I had fired a shot toward it from my .22 knowing it wouldn't make it to the creature. But I wanted to try and get it to move up and over the hill so I could get a better look at it. But instead this "thing" started to move down the hill toward us. Right after that happened booked it to the closest side of the property, found a gate, shot the lock off, and drove away from there as fast as we could.

To this day I still don't know what I saw, but it scared the daylights out of me.

Las Vegas Family Claims ALIEN ENCOUNTER AFTER CRAFT CRASHES in Backyard

A Las Vegas, Nevada family recently claimed that something crashed in their backyard, prompting them to call 911 about “non-human” beings. There were multiple witnesses.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas family claims something crashed in their backyard, prompting them to call 911 about “non-human” beings – the thing is, this time, several people saw it.

On April 30 around 11:50 p.m., a Las Vegas Metro police officer’s body camera video recorded as something streaked low across the sky. Several people across eastern California, Nevada and Utah reported seeing the flash, according to the American Meteor Society.

Sources tell the 8 News Now Investigators that it is likely something crashed into the yard, but exactly what remained unclear more than a month later. Drone video showed a circular imprint in the dirt.

About 40 minutes later, a man called 911, saying he and his family saw something fall from the sky and that there were two moving things in his northwest valley backyard.

Caller: There’s like an 8-foot person beside it and another one is inside us and it has big eyes and it’s looking at us — and it’s still there,” the caller told a dispatcher.

Dispatcher: OK, where is this on your property?

Caller: In my backyard. I swear to God this is not a joke, this is actually — we’re terrified.

Dispatcher: So, there’s two people, there’s two subjects in your backyard?

Caller: Correct and they’re very large. They’re like 8 foot, 9 feet, 10 foot. They look like aliens to us. Big eyes. They have big eyes. Like, I can’t explain it, and big mouth. They’re shiny eyes and they’re human. They’re 100% not human.

Dispatcher: OK.

The Metro police call log the 8 News Now Investigators obtained shows several other family members confirmed the sighting to police.

The dispatcher sent two officers to the home to investigate. The 8 News Now Investigators obtained body camera video from both of the officers.

“I’m so nervous right now,” one officer said as he is preparing to drive to the house. “I have butterflies bro — saw a shooting star and now these people say there’s aliens in their backyard.”

Officers arrived at the home about a half-hour after the 911 call.

“What did you see?” one officer asked a witness.

“It was like a big creature,” one witness said.

“A big creature?” the officer asked.

“Yea, more than 10 feet tall,” the witness replied.

“I’m not going to BS, you guys. One of my partners said they saw something fall out of the sky, too,” the officer said. “So that’s why I’m kind of curious. Did you see anything land in your backyard?”

The video shows one officer walking into the backyard to investigate but Metro police blacked out that part of his body camera video citing privacy laws.

“I don’t believe in it but what I saw right now, I do believe in it,” a witness told police.

“You guys seem like legit scared so I don’t blame you,” an officer replied.

Around the same time, another witness told police they saw an SUV circling in the area. While one officer is investigating in the backyard, a second officer is talking to neighbors driving by.

“This might sound like a really dumb question, but did you guys see anything fall out of the sky?” an officer asks a passenger in a passing car. “I would normally discount it as probably not real but — however seeing as one of my partners said they saw it too, the only reason I’m investigating it further.”

Metro police’s investigation turned up no concrete answers as of Wednesday. While initially open for several days, the department has since closed the case. The family said officials returned to the home over several days to investigate.

“Hey, if those 9-foot beings come back, don’t call us alright?” an officer said as he walks away from the house and back to his cruiser.

Representatives from nearby Creech and Nellis air force bases said they were not involved in the incident and suggested contacting Metro police.

A spokesperson for the Pentagon did not immediately respond to questions regarding the event.

Calling in a hoax 911 call is a Category E felony in Nevada. A conviction can carry a 1-to-4-year prison sentence.

Bolivian Farmers Fear CHUPACABRA Lurks In Their Fields (VIDEO)

A peculiar piece of drone footage from Bolivia shows what appears to be a bipedal creature lurking in a field of crops and some suspect that it could be the infamous chupacabra.

 "According to a local media report, the puzzling video was recently captured near the city of Oruro. In the footage, the drone passes over a vast field of crops, and, on the ground below, one can see a sizeable dark form that seems to be hunched over while standing on two legs. The puzzling anomaly presumably went unnoticed when the video was filmed as, unfortunately, the UAV makes no attempt at getting a better look at the mysterious creature in the field.

"It is strange, it looks like a dog, but it has a hump further back," observed area resident Carla Flores, "looking at the images it has the same position as the 'chupacabra'" One reason why she and many others in the area suspect that the creature could be the infamous monster of cryptozoological lore. Oruro has previously been the site of several strange slayings wherein cows, llamas, and alpacas have been found drained of their blood in an inexplicable and unsettling fashion. Upon seeing the footage, local farmers attempted to track down the creatures spotted in the video, but their search efforts proved futile.

That said, thinking that the murderous monster may be in their midst, many have gone so far as to install lights around their property in the hopes of either dissuading the creature from feasting on their livestock or, in a worst-case scenario, catch of a glimpse of the 'goat sucker' in action. Skeptics, of course, say that the footage is not clear enough to determine what, exactly, the anomaly in the field might be and dismiss the chupacabra as being merely an urban legend rather than a genuine predator out on the prowl."

Michigan Man Recalls Several POSSIBLE BIGFOOT Encounters

A Michigan man recalls various incidents in which he believes that he had encountered a Bigfoot. He also tells an account about his great-grandmother shooting a Bigfoot in Texas.

"My mother was born and raised in Texas and she would visit her grandmother in Anna, Texas. This is a story my great-grandmother told my mother and my mother told me. She lived out in the country and raised chickens and was a tough old pioneer woman. Her husband had died and she was alone on the farm.

It was the early 1900s. She had chickens being stolen so she had a shotgun by the door to catch whoever or whatever it was. Once, she woke up in the middle of the night to chickens making a racket. She said that she saw a very tall hairy creature standing on two legs in the pen. She blast one barrel at the creature and it turned to run. She shot at it with the other barrel. She insisted the story was true and had a peppered front porch railing and posts to prove it.

My dad's brother had a cabin near Leroy, Michigan. He would take my brother and me to his cabin on many weekends during the year. When I was around 14 years old and my brother was 12, he taught us to hunt and fish, and shoot guns. We never missed a chance to go with him as he had no children. He also had a huge German Shepherd that was fearless.

On one occasion, we were walking on state land with the dog. It was the middle of the day in the fall. The path we were on led us around this small hill about 10 feet high. We could see over the woods. Then suddenly it went quiet, but soon it sounded like a freight train coming through the woods towards us from the hill. The dog went crazy and it took every bit of strength my uncle had to hold him back. He went up there to fight whatever was coming at us. I think I could safely say we were terrified except for that dog. It was running on two legs with heavy pounding feet. The branches were breaking.

Then just as it should have come crashing over the little hill it went completely silent. Nothing. The dog went quiet but kept looking at the top of the hill where this thing should have been. We waited for a bit. My uncle said we should go back. No words were spoken on the trek back and it was never spoken of until I started watching your videos. There are a couple of old guys talking about an incident that happened years and years ago. My uncle's long gone but I wish I could go back and ask him about that day.

Back in 1969, during the winter, we couldn't get up the road to the cabin as the snow was too deep. We pulled over and pulled our supplies up the road in a toboggan. My dad's other brother came up with his snowmobile. We had fun until it was time to go. It was a Sunday evening as we packed up our things and trudge back down to the cars. It was dark and snowing and my uncle had left his car keys back up at the cabin. I told him I'd walk back and get the keys. it took me about a half hour to get back up there. I grabbed the car keys and started to make my way back down the two-track through the woods.

I had only gone a little way when I heard branches breaking, like something was following me down the hill. it was off to my right side paralleling me. It was close but I couldn't see anything. All I had was my hunting knife, so I pulled it out and began running down the hill, knowing any moment I was going to be attacked. I've never been so afraid.

Just then I heard my uncle's snowmobile coming up the hill and his headlights shining at me. He had decided I was taking too long and pulled his machine off the trailer to find me. He passed me and drove up a way to turn around. I was back at the vehicles when my other uncle came back. He asked me if I had lost my knife. I guess I dropped it in the snow running down the hill. It should have been buried in that deep snow but my uncle said it was on top and easy to spot. I never told anyone what really happened or why I had my knife out of the sheath.

In the 1980s, I was married and living in Dorr, Michigan, about two hours south of my uncle's cabin. There were lots of woods and living in a nice house. One summer, in the middle of the night, we both woke from a sound sleep by what sounded like a woman screaming at the top of her lungs. My wife was terrified when she asked me if I heard that. Knowing she had heard it and I wasn't dreaming I jumped up, put my pants on, and grabbed my pistol. Whatever it was started screaming again and I ran into the woods. I was shining my flashlight all over but not seeing anything. I stopped and stood still for a long time and slowly walked back to the house. I told my wife it was probably a rabbit getting caught by a fox or coyote and never spoke about it again. That scream that we heard that night was no rabbit or owl and I've heard them both."
