SCALY, CLAWED 'MONSTER' Attacked Car Near Riverside, California
Scaly 'Monster' Attacks Car
Reminiscent of the Thetis Lake Monster. The following article was published in the "Greenville News," in Greenville, South Carolina on November 10, 1958:
Riverside, Calif.--A funny thing happened to Charlie Wetzel on the way home Saturday night.
A monster jumped out at him.
That's what he told authorities who planned to continue an investigation of the incredible story.
Wetzel, 24, a resident of nearby Bloomington, reported soberly that he was driving on a street near Riverside when a frightening creature jumped in front of his car.
"It had a round, scarecrowish head," he said, "like something out of Halloween.
"It wasn't human. It had a longer arm than anything I'd ever seen. When it saw me in the car it reached all the way back to the windshield and began clawing at me.
"It didn't have any ears. The face was all round. The eyes were shining like something fluorescent and it had a protuberant mouth. It was scaley, like leaves."
Wetzel said he became terrified when the creature reached over the hood of his car and began clawing at the windshield. He said he reached for a .22 pistol he had in the car.
"I held that pistol and stomped on the gas," he said. "The thing fell back from the car and it gurgled.
"The noise it made didn't sound human. I think I hit it. I heard something hit the pan under the car."
Sheriff's officers said Wetzel pointed at some thin, sweeping marks he said the creature made on his windshield. They went to the scene of the claimed apparition but said they could find nothing to prove or disprove Wetzel's story.
The scene is at a point where North Main Street dips and crosses the Santa Ana River bed, which is usually almost dry.
Wetzel said he told the story to his wife and she induced him to phone authorities. "I kept saying no one would believe a story like this," he said.
Sheriff's Sgt. E. R. Holmes said he thought perhaps a large vulture might have flopped on the hood of Wetzel's car--"Sometimes cars hit them when they're in the road eating rabbits cars have killed," he said. So he searched the area himself on Sunday. "But," said Holmes, "I didn't even find a feather."

Motorist Had Near Collision With BIGFOOT in Fayette County, Pennsylvania
A report of a possible Bigfoot encounter in Pennsylvania was received by the Sasquatch Watch of Virginia and was then referred to Eric Altman, the Director of the (PBS) Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society to investigate. The incident occurred on July 10, 2009, outside of Uniontown, in Fayette County.
On July 15, 2009, a team from PBS traveled to the location where the reported Bigfoot encounter occurred to interview the witness and to look over the area for any possible physical evidence. The team was comprised of Eric Altman and PBS members Dave Dragosin and his wife Cindy. Eric also invited me to go along to participate in the investigation.
When we arrived on the scene, the witness and her husband were awaiting us. We went through our introductions and then walked over to the roadway where the encounter had occurred. The location of the incident was on a two-lane roadway outside of Uniontown.
It was about 6 P.M. when the event occurred, and the weather was warm and clear at the time. The witness was driving down the road at about 35-40 mph, when suddenly, she caught out of the corner of her eye, a figure coming from the left side and approaching her. Her first thought was that a person was about to walk out in front of her car, and she was about to hit the subject.
She suddenly swerved over to the right side of the road and was thankful that nobody was there. As she was making the turn, she got a good look at the figure and suddenly realized that it was not a person, but a strange creature. As she sat there for a moment, she looked into her rearview mirror and realized that the creature had gotten behind her car. “I looked into the rearview mirror and I saw it leap across my trunk.”
While still pulled over on the roadside, the woman remained seated in her car, trying to regain her composure. She could not believe what had just occurred. Seconds later she looked up to see the creature now on her right side running quickly down the middle of another road about 75 feet away. That was the last time she saw it. The entire incident had lasted just several seconds, but enough time for the witness to recall a detailed description of a creature that she was certain was not human, or a person in a costume.
What she saw in daylight and at very close range was a dark-colored, hair-covered man-like creature, which she estimated was, “at least 6 feet tall or slightly taller.” The creature, which walked upright on two legs, had a head that was said to be large and elongated, and covered with hair that just looked wild.
The neck was somewhat hard to explain since it was covered in hair. The witness said that it appeared to be thin and long. “The neck looked strange because the head was big and the shoulders were wide.” The face was mainly covered in hair, yet the area that was exposed appeared to be very white. There was hair coming out from all over the face, like that of a dog or a wolf. The nose was flat and dark but was also mostly covered in hair. The mouth could not clearly be seen. The ears were not seen since they were covered with hair as well.
The eyes were the most prominent feature that really caught the witnesses’ attention. The eyes were at least twice the size of a human and circular in shape. The eyes were dark, possibly black in color, wide set, and “wild looking.” There was “no iris, no whites.” The witness thinks that is why the eyes looked so odd. The wild look and the fierceness of the eyes of the creature scared the woman.
The creature was stocky and muscular in appearance. The chest area was described as thick and hairy. The shoulders were wide and rounded. The arms were very long, hanging down to the knees or beyond. The witness said the hair on the arms was long, like ape hair. The woman didn’t recall seeing any muscles, however, it appeared as though it was muscular, and in good physical shape.
The witness had the impression that this creature was older in age. Very little detail was observed below the waist. There was no unusual sound or odor noted during the observation. The witness did have her windows up and the air conditioner on.
At the scene, Dave Dragosin sketched an illustration of the creature under the direction of the eyewitness. Eric and the witness’s husband searched a wooded area not far from the location of the encounter, but nothing of interest was found.
We also went over to examine the car. As I was looking over the car body, I noticed what appeared to be an unusual scratch mark on the trunk surface on the left side of the vehicle. I pointed it out to the others, as well as the woman and her husband. They had never seen this surface area damage before.
The affected area was about 6 inches from the left tail light to the first striation of the scratches. The scratched area was about 8.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. There were numerous vertical and horizontal very thin scratch lines that went into the paint surface. There is the possibility that this might be related to the creature’s movements as it leaped across the trunk area from that side.
It was my impression that the witness was very sincere and competent. As she described to us what she had seen and experienced that night, it was evident that she was still emotionally upset by what had occurred. The witness told me that after the encounter, she drove down the road a short distance and parked her car. She sat there thinking about what had happened. She was trying to convince herself that this was a person but realized that it couldn’t have been.
These are her reasons why she feels it was not a human. (A) The rate of speed the figure came across into the path of her car, it didn’t care that it was going to get hit. (B) The fast movement of the creature and the way it leaped over the trunk. She also had a good look at the creature and some facial features. The eyes of the creature frightened her.
When she arrived home she waited a little while before telling her family about what she had seen. She was initially met with some disbelief from her children. Her husband listened to her and believed that she had seen something. He told her she should call the police to see if anyone else had reported something similar. The witness said she was not calling the police, concerned that she would be ridiculed.
The direction that the creature was last observed moving towards would take it into a heavily wooded area in the direction of Jumonville. There has been a long history of Bigfoot sightings being reported for many years in this same general area of Fayette County.

Was a STILLBORN BIGFOOT FETUS Found at Chestnut Ridge, PA Church Camp?
A Pennsylvania man recalls seeing a large stillborn fetus at a Jumonville, PA church camp in the 1970s. He said that it looked like a 'monkey fetus.' Could it have been a Bigfoot fetus?
"My story happened in the late 1970s. I and a couple friends went to a church sports camp for a week at Jumonville, Pennsylvania (currently known as the Jumonville Camp & Retreat Center - Lon) and it's about an hour and 20 minutes southeast of Pittsburgh. It's located on the Chestnut Ridge where numerous unexplained phenomenon has been reported, from Sasquatch, UFOs, Dogman, and Thunderbirds. It also sits in the Appalachian Mountains. Each cabin had about seven boys. The mess hall was at the bottom of the hill along an asphalt path. Different cabins would line up outside to follow one another down the path.
When we went to eat one morning we were all walking to breakfast. Up ahead of me, I noticed kids walking off the path and into the grass. When I got up to that spot I looked down and couldn't believe my eyes. Laying on the path was what looked like a stillborn monkey fetus. It was big too, at least 2 feet long. It was as tall as the path was wide. It was definitely bipedal but didn't have a tail. I was just staring at this thing which is probably only 30 seconds when I noticed I had fallen behind my group and was getting passed by other groups. So I ran to catch my group.
My friend, KN was with me at camp that year. He said he was right next to me and remembers seeing the fetus too."

NOTE: Was this a stillborn fetus of a Bigfoot? The Chestnut Ridge is well-known for a variety of unexplained activity and sightings. Here is an account I received in 2016:
I had an opportunity to talk to a man, who I'll refer to as 'CB,' who once lived on a farm in Washington County, PA. He had issued a report with the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society on possible habituation he experienced when he was younger while living on his Grandfather's farm. There were other odd creatures and anomalies that he had witnessed as well...in fact, I hope to gather more information on a specific group of cryptid big cats he observed living in the same general area.
Another incident he described also piqued my interest. This occurred in Fayette County at the Jumonville Cross, which stands on top of Dunbar's Knob on Chestnut Ridge. The entire Chestnut Ridge is well-known for unexplained activity...but this particular incident was quite extraordinary. I have heard of a variety of unexplained sightings near the cross structure over the years.
One particular encounter was told to me by a friend, who was with me during a United Steelworkers representative training retreat in nearby Linden Hall in October 1992. He and another attendee took a hike to the Jumonville Cross one afternoon. During the hike, they experienced an overwhelming sense of dread when they came near the top. They didn't stay long...in fact, they decided to make their way back to their vehicle as quickly as possible. It was a bizarre story since neither had ever had that feeling previously and neither wanted to remain at the retreat for the remainder of the session. I believe something, other than a sense of dread, caused this reaction...though, I will also state that this person has experienced an extremely difficult life since that day. He refuses help from any source, living like a hermit in rural West Virginia.
On a whim one morning, CB and his girlfriend decided to hike the mountain to the Jumonville Cross...to enjoy donuts and coffee. They were talking and enjoying the view while sitting on the grass near a podium that is located near the cross structure. At the time, neither CB nor his girlfriend heard or saw anyone approaching the area...in fact, they thought they were alone for the entire time. Then they noticed, what they thought, was a light puff of smoke at the podium. An elderly man and woman suddenly appeared standing together. At first, they thought nothing of it...maybe it was simply a wisp of fog and these two folks had been there all along. CB and his girlfriend acknowledged their presence and said 'hi' to the older couple...but oddly, they received no answer. The couple didn't move and looked forward towards the horizon. When CB looked closer, he observed they both had solid black eyes.
Both of the witnesses were taken aback by this spectacle. The specters were both apparently wearing white tops and black pants. Then the couple moved off and just faded away from sight. CB told me that they were solid in form, so much so that they wondered if they had seen something other than ghosts.
We later discussed the 'black-eyed people' phenomenon, which he had just recently heard about. We also discussed his girlfriend's reaction, which was much less abrupt than his. There had been times when she would feel emotional changes during unexplained incidents. I believe that she may be an empath, as well as a beacon. Her presence at the Jumonville Cross may have actually triggered the appearance of the elderly couple's energy.
There have been many incidents reported at the cross over the years...including an increase in Bigfoot sightings and other odd anomalies. The area is actually home to a Christian campground and retreat. This location is also near where a young military officer named George Washington and his soldiers ambushed French troops in 1754, sparking the genesis of the French and Indian War. There have been reports of musket fire, disembodied voices, and the smell of gunpowder in the nearby glens and hollows.

Inquiry: AUTOPSIED ALIEN BODY Discovered in New Mexico Mortuary in 1960s?
Possible incident regarding an autopsied alien body that was found in a child's casket in the basement of an old mortuary. I'm looking for further information.
The following account was forwarded to me:
"1964-01-01: A couple years ago, my wife and daughter were visiting Lou Roberts in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Lou is an old friend of my wife’s father Jim Piper. Lou and Jim became lifelong friends when they were morticians in the early 1960s. Lou shared with us a fascinating experience regarding what he believed was an autopsied alien body that he discovered in a child’s casket and vault in the basement of Olinger's Mortuary where he worked.
He did some research at the time and found a connection to alien bodies that disappeared following the Roswell incident, and the being he saw in the child's casket. Fortunately, he wrote down the experience and had it published by a small publisher in New Mexico. Unfortunately, Lou and his wife lost his copy of the book when they threw out a lot of their stuff.
After several phone calls to libraries, I was successful in finding a copy of the small book, (30 or so pages). The book is called; "They Were Here" written by Lou Roberts. He also shared with us his memories of another encounter with "visitors" as a child that he had on two occasions, and later a tiny foreign object discovered in his ankle.
Lou is getting up there in years and we plan to visit him and video him recalling his experiences. Until lately, Lou has rarely spoken of his experiences, but I think due to his age, is now fine sharing his story. He has no photos, only memories and a book describing his strange experience.
The reason I am contacting you is that I need advice on where and with whom I can share his book for the record. It's a bit of a long story, and I was hoping you could give me a call when you have a moment.

Ex-Convict Recalls CELLMATE FROM HELL!
A British man recounts a conversation that he had with a former neighbor who lived a life of crime and spent much of it in prison. He recalled a Satanist cellmate that manifested an otherworldly entity.
The following account was forwarded to me:
“I live near London, UK in Surrey. I once had a neighbor who had been a convicted bank robber. He'd spent a lot of time in prison over the years. Often in high-security jails, he was forced to wear what were known as patches, which meant high visibility clothing to try and prevent escape. He told me this story one night and it's always stayed with me.
During one of his many incarcerations spent at Her Majesty's pleasure in the 1970s, his cellmate was a practicing Satanist. They got to talking about his beliefs one night and the Satanist said he wanted to show my neighbor something. He said, "I'm going to raise something from the other side, but don't stare at it. Stay still, take a look for a second or two, then look away."
He drew something in chalk on the cell floor, chanted something, and built a small fire with a few matches. My friend said he saw a small figure composed of the smoke manifest from the fire, move around the floor for a few seconds as if it had weight/mass. Then it dissipates. It totally freaked him out and he wasn't a man that would scare easily.
He said he trod carefully around his cellmate from then on and was quite relieved when his sentence came to an end.” G

AREA 51 Worker Escorted Away by MP & MIB: Never Seen Again!
According to a military veteran who worked at Groom Lake, his friend from the base got drunk and started spouting off about aliens, vehicles, and technology. He was detained and never seen again!
The following information was forwarded to me:
"Back in 1992, we lived near Palm Springs, California. At the time, our kids were in karate classes. Their instructor and I would converse now and then. I told him about my beliefs in the paranormal and UFOs.
One evening he said, "Man, you should meet my brother. You and him would get along great and he could tell you some stuff too." So his brother and I talked on the phone. But he was hesitant to talk much on the phone but said he'd be happy to meet in person at his brother's house.
As it ended up he was a retired military service veteran who was stationed at the infamous Groom Lake. As his story goes, one night at the "tavern," one of his coworkers lost it. He started rambling on about aliens, vehicles, and technology being applied. He tried to hush his partner up and before he knew it the senior-level MP and MIB came in and escorted his partner out. That was the last time he ever saw him again.
So let's just say this. It's all really going down, man. I have no reason to doubt the instructor's brother especially because of the way we met." D

Vancouver Island SASQUATCH Native Lore: Positive Encounters & Don't Tree Knock!
A Vancouver Island, BC man recalls native Sasquatch anecdotes told to him by his girlfriend. He also relates personal experiences related to the local Sasquatch on the island.
"My girlfriend's father-in-law told me a story. He was roofing a house on Vancouver Island near a fish hatchery on the Cowichan River. He was with some native guys. Every night before dark they would leave early. They didn't want to be around when Sasquatch came to fish on the river. It will chuck rocks at you.
He knew a native woman on the island who was willing to share her stories from her youth and her tribe. She said the tribe has a secret society of women singers. Part of the initiation ritual is for the new singer to go into the longhouse and fast for a spirit vision. This is done to learn what animal will be your sacred spirit for your singing. She was starving and crying because of her hunger.
Then she heard something jump down onto the roof of the longhouse. She heard it walk along the smoke hole. She looked up and a Sasquatch was looking down at her. It then lowered a freshly killed deer down through the smoke hole, dropped it by the fire, and left. So her spirit became the Sasquatch.
The native woman, who I will not name nor her tribe, lived along the Chemainus River as a child. She remembers the Sasquatch would run beside their house and bang on with its hand scaring everyone. Her uncle also saw one on the Nanaimo River. She thinks they come down out of the mountains when the water runs low up there in late summer and also to fish when the runs are going on. She says her sister now hears them in her yard at night. They bang on the ground and make this big pounding noise. This all started after her tribe was given permission to begin logging on their land.
Last year, my girlfriend and I were camping at Sasquatch Provincial Park, and on the first night about 3 a.m. I got up to relieve myself. I got back in the tent and I heard a distinct two-tone call way off in the distance, followed by answering calls of at least two more. One was mid-distance and one on the mountain right above our campsite. This went on for 40 minutes. We had declared a 'no phones' campout, so I was not carrying any equipment. I woke my girlfriend and we listened to it. It was like they were letting each other know they were there. I jokingly called it a 'Sasquatch Roll Call.' We later listened to tons of wildlife calls and the only thing that matched was from John Bindernagel's investigation of mysterious calls in a native community up Vancouver Island.
The kids in the campsite beside us started mimicking it. I got up, banged on a tree with a stick, and it stopped. My native friend told me you got the knock wrong. I've heard from other natives that tree banging is a bad idea as it's a territorial signal so I may not do that anymore. It sounds legit to me."

Monstrously Tall 'NOT DEER' Seen on Southern California Highway
A rural Southern California man is driving home late at night when he encounters a bizarre-looking deer. He said that it looked like it was on stilts and had a weird gait. Was it a 'Not Deer?'
I received the following account:
"I commute for my job. It's a retail job, but I live in a rural area in the Southern California foothills and it is currently my only option. I drive home every night near 1 a.m. I take the highway. It's always deserted at these times and some nights were more peculiar than others, but nothing so extreme as this incident.
It's not uncommon for me to see a lot of wildlife on these drives. I would just take it slow and be alert. Occasionally I'd see a black-tailed deer, coyotes, raccoons, etc. One recent night I was only about 10 minutes away from home. I rolled up to the usual four-way stop that I had stopped at hundreds of times before. Not a soul around.
As I came to a complete stop I saw something standing just off the side of the road across from the intersection. It was obviously an animal and it was headed toward the road, so I was going to wait for it to cross. It took me a second to really comprehend what it was at first. I thought it was a horse which, although dangerous, wouldn't be that uncommon for where I lived due to irresponsible ranchers and their constantly broken fences. Then, as I started to be able to make out more of what it was as it neared the light from my headlights, I realized something was very wrong with this animal. It was tall. So much so that the legs looked stilt-like.
As I sat there shocked it slowly stepped into the road and came across my car's direct beam of my headlight. At this point, I realized two things. One, it was much taller than my car. Its height was monstrous! Two, its gait was very odd, almost like it didn't know how to properly walk as a deer should. It was like all of its joints wanted to bend the wrong way. It moved slowly into the oncoming lane and then swiveled its head to look back at me. All of the hair on my body rose. What spooked me the most was that this was certainly a deer or at least something that looked like one. It looked normal in every way except the spider-like legs it was standing on.
At this point I gassed it and then the deer stood unmoving as my car sped passed by. I looked back in my rearview mirror and caught a glimpse of it crossing the oncoming lane back into the shoulder of the highway, illuminated red by my brake lights. When I got home I ran into my house and locked myself in. I'm still understandably freaked out." D

Couple's Mythical MENEHUNE Encounters & Good Luck
A couple were visiting Maui, Hawaii when they started to continuously see a small humanoid at various locations. They later talked to a local elder who told them that they were lucky, they saw the Menehune.
The following account was forwarded to me:
"I should share my story about the Menehune. It was 1998 in Maui, Hawaii and I was headed to the hotel in a shuttle service and saw this little dude sitting on a fence wire. I had to check and recheck what I was seeing, but sure as summer this little dude was just sitting with his legs dangling. As we got closer he morphed into a plastic bag stuck on the barb. I saw him a couple of more times around the island and my wife actually thought I wasn't crazy.
One day in a gift shop I saw a keychain with a little figurine that was the dude. All excited I picked it up and yelled to my wife across the store, "It's him, it's him!" The elder native that was working asked me, "Have you seen him?" I responded, "Yes sir, several times since I got here last week." He said they were blessing my journey and reason for coming to the island and, that I was a very special and a lucky person. After talking for a little while he decided to share with me a local custom. He said kind of vaguely, "Drive up the coast. You'll know when you get there."
The next morning my wife and I got up and took off on a drive up the coast to a destination we didn't know. As we drove and drove I wondered where I was driving too. Did I pass it? When we came around a corner and on the ocean side of the road there is a meadow and a grotto. The energy present was very nice and I slammed on the brakes and shouted, "This is it!" We parked and walked into the field, the earth felt hallowed. It felt like you should not get off the path. As we walked in we began seeing, in various sizes, stones that have been stacked in a little monolithic style. You know, like at the river when someone stacks up a few river rocks and makes a statue. Still in awe at how many, probably hundreds of, stacks were all over a very large area of rolling hills.
As we walked along we came to a spot that had a bunch of rocks laying in a circle that had not yet been stacked up. We walked around and all the way to the end of the trail. There was only 1 circle of rocks and hundreds of stacks. I knew what the circle of rocks was for. We went back and I made my own miniature stone megalithic. As I built it I could hear them gathered around but never saw them again.
Oh, the night before we went to the gift shop we conceived our firstborn son after a year or so of fertility issues. That's my story about the Menehune." DC
NOTE: Menehune are a mythological race of dwarf people in Hawaiian tradition who are said to live in the deep forests and hidden valleys of the Hawaiian Islands, hidden and far away from human settlements. They are described as superb craftspeople. They built temples, fishponds, roads, canoes, and houses. You can find more here. Lon

'GOATMAN' Chases Eyewitness Out of Old Cemetery in Norway, Iowa
A friend of the eyewitness relates his encounter with, what he describes as, a 'Goatman' in a Norway, Iowa cemetery. The beast then chases the eyewitness until he leaves the cemetery.
I received this from a friend of the witness:
"In December 2005 the witness was on his way home, near Norway, Iowa, late one night after work. He almost always walked the train tracks because they were a straight shot towards the house. These train tracks ran past an old settler cemetery that was alleged to be haunted. It’s already dark and has been so for a few hours. There was no moon that night.
As he walks near the cemetery, he starts hearing muffled footsteps behind him but doesn’t think much of it. Plenty of other guys walk home this way as well. So he keeps going and the footsteps get louder and louder. About midway past the cemetery, he gets nervous and the steps are getting closer so he turns to look behind him. According to the witness he saw a “goatman” or “the devil himself”.
He describes this 'thing' as a man who basically had goat hooves and horns along the lines of the mythical 'Pan.' And this thing was heading straight for him. Reportedly all the snow around this creature was instantly melting as it walked through. The witness runs screaming like a banshee. He hears the clopping of the beast's footsteps behind him speeding up to catch him as he’s running. Finally, he gets past the graveyard and sees the thing stop right at the edge of the cemetery. He continues running, stops to look back and the beast just vanishes.
One of his older co-workers confided with the witness that there was a tale about a 'Goatman' many years ago. It was supposedly a Polish immigrant who disappeared one night but returned as the creature several years later. There had been UFO and strange being reports around the same time the man had vanished." H
NOTE: Benton County, Iowa has had a fairly high number of unexplained sightings. This 'Goatman' incident may be related, though I have no further information. If you have anything to share in regard to this account, please feel free to forward it to me. Lon
