Piercing Screams & Thrown Rocks! Does BIGFOOT Live In North Wales?

A Welsh man enjoyed spending time in a secluded location in North Wales. Many times he would hear unexplained sounds, thinking the area was haunted. That was until he listened to Bigfoot sound recordings.

I received the following account:

“I live in Great Britain and used to spend much of my time in North Wales. I'll keep the exact location anonymous for personal reasons. Anyway this area was heavily wooded for miles and deep in the valleys, it had a spot where a natural waterfall was. I used to come to this spot to enjoy the peace and quiet and camp out overnight. This area was off limits to the public due to dangerous rock falls I was led to believe. I also heard that in the past people used to come down there to be married in some nearby caves and sure enough there was a stone altar carved into the natural rock in one of the caves. Apparently, though this custom had stopped about a hundred years back due to the unsafe nature of geology and the fact a woman had died after falling down a ravine, and indeed the area was rumoured to be haunted.

I would from time to time, although alone, feel like I was being watched. This never bothered me during the daylight hours but at night this feeling was so intense I felt compelled to keep the fire lit all night. Other instances there included tree knocking which at first I took to be chopping noises. This happened often during the day although I could never find any sign of any woodman no matter how hard I searched, it strangely happened twice one night also. Another night I heard what I thought was somebody making owl noises at me. It sounded like a human was making the sound and not quite like a real owl would sound.

The last night I ever spent in the area I was camped down by the steam and heard what I at first took to be a woman's scream. Still, it sounded off somehow and I knew nobody could have been there other than myself. It almost bellowed through me this sound, sure it could have been an animal but certainly nothing I'd ever encountered before, before that night was out I had a huge rock thrown in my direction, and again that ear-splitting scream.

I never went back there after these experiences and probably never will. What I felt and heard haunted me for years, I rationalised the sounds to perhaps be ghosts and worried that I was a victim of some sort of haunting. But after hearing the similarities between what I experienced and what others experience due to possible Bigfoot encounters perhaps such creatures live in remote areas of the UK also?" DJ

We Were Stalked By The SKINWALKER'S SHADOW!

Back in April 2013, an episode of 'Monsters and Mysteries in America' featured cryptid investigator JC Johnson and other team members from Crypto Four Corners International. "Desert Wasteland: Thunderbirds & Skinwalkers, Nightstalker, Harvesting Humans - Alien Abduction" on Destination America. It was well done and demonstrated the consciousness of the supernatural by those people living in the area. The 'Night Stalker': Terrible Being Torments Family ordeal was also presented in the episode.

Not long after the episode aired, I started receiving inquiries and reports from the Navajo reservation / Four Corners areas in New Mexico. The following narrative was the most interesting.

"I just watched an episode of Monsters and Mysteries in America. It was the 'Night Stalker, Skinwalker' episode. When I saw the pictures of the girl who was being terrorized by the Night Stalker, it reminded me of a strange encounter my brother and I had this last winter.

We were out on Navajo Dam Road cutting wood. We had turned onto a dirt road on the northeast side. After cutting a few trees at the bottom of a canyon we decided to go further up the hill to see if we could find more dead trees. I also had my dog and son with me. We made our way up the hill and it flattened out. There were a few dead trees so we decided to stop and cut those as it was getting dusk and colder. My son and his dog got out and were playing fetch while my brother Chris and I prepped the trees to cut.

As we were about to finish up my kiddo came running up the hill and said he had found some really neat-looking tracks from an animal. So as I made my way down the hill and towards my truck with an arm full of wood, I stopped to look at the tracks. They looked like claw marks in the sand and were in the same direction as where we climbed to cut. As I was looking at the tracks I noticed I didn't hear my brother's chainsaw anymore. As soon as I realized the motor sound had stopped I heard a scream, the sound of a shotgun being pumped, then a shot being fired. Before I could even react, Chris came running at breakneck speed down the hill, passed me, and to the truck yelling "Drop the wood, let's go!" My dog was barking, growling, and backing up with hair raised on her back and neck. I shuttled my kid and dog with wood in hand down the hill, and threw wood in the back seat (I have a huge F250) with the kiddo and dog. Needless to say, we got the hell out of there. My brother refused to speak until we were on the main road and almost to Aztec, NM.

While he was cutting wood, he had the feeling of being watched. Thinking that I was playing a trick on him he sat his running chainsaw down and went to catch me in the act before I could scare him. Not knowing I was further down the hill with my son, he climbed the rest of the hill and looked around to find me. He saw us down by my truck and also saw a shadow opposite him by a sandstone cluster to his right. We always carry a gun with us while we cut (never know what kind of creatures one may encounter out there). He popped off a shot to get my attention and also took a shot at whatever it was he had seen. He told me it ran in between a rock ledge and some bushes. He didn't want to waste time to try and take another shot at "it." Before the second shot, the chainsaw stopped because it had run out of gas which is how I was able to hear the gun being cocked and fired. It scared him so bad that he refused to go back out that way to collect wood.

Always the skeptic, I thought he was BSing me, trying to scare me, but then I remembered the claw marks my kiddo had found and knowing that NOTHING scares my brother nor dog. He said the thing he saw was a good 7 feet high if not taller and hairy all over with a wolf face and red eyes. He caught a slight glimpse before it slipped between the brush and stones. I was kinda laughing at him in my head, til I remembered those claw marks on the ground.

When I saw the story tonight, I had seen those claw marks before, where we were cutting wood. Thank you for believing, otherwise I'd think I was losing my mind! It was a weird and unforgettable experience!! Thanks for your time." SS

Eyewitness to MARLON LOWE'S LAWNDALE, ILLINOIS THUNDERBIRD Contacts Me

Print produced by Mister Sam Shearon

An original witness to two Thunderbirds, seen in Springfield, Illinois, the day before 10-year-old Marlon Lowe's Lawndale, IL Thunderbird incident, comes forward and emails me in 2012.

I received the following email:

"I saw the two thunderbirds in Springfield, Illinois the day before Marlon Lowe was attacked, in Lawndale, IL. This is no joke! I told my father and family and they all laughed. But in the next day or two when it hit the local news, they changed their tune!

Several friends of mine and I went on a hike following Spring Creek from Washington Park due Southwest about as far as we could until we reached a muskrat dam. We decided to hike back from there. Along the way back, the big birds flew due north directly over our heads as we stumbled along the small trail alongside the creek! And when I say directly over our heads; that means ten feet in the air above us! I have never disclosed this story publicly, but I feel it should be known after seeing the countless shows on TV and the ridicule endured by Marlon and his family.

What more can I say? Probably, a lot more! I met John Huffer briefly, one time at a powwow in Riverton Il. His film at Lake Shelbyville cannot be discounted! I've had enough of the debunker idiots! Until you have stared one down at the proximity that I did; you will never understand what changed your life and perception of the reality we live in! I have looked at websites concerning the phenomenon of Thunderbirds and I'm not quite satisfied with all the results. Much of it is outdated. Nevertheless, I'm still here, and as the show about UFOs said; I KNOW WHAT I SAW! Nowadays; with the proliferation of camera phones and video cams, hopefully, someone will get better footage of the Thunderbirds, Bigfoot, UFOs, and the like! Since the seventies, it has definitely gotten a lot better. How did they say it? Focus! Also, hold the damn camera steady! I only wished I had one that day, but I never expected to see what I saw!

I also recall that the big birds roosted in a large tree similar to John Huffer's film before they flew off. I was trying to figure out how birds with such a phenomenal wingspan could perch in the branches of that tree and not get all tangled up! It appeared that they somehow double-folded their wings under so as to maneuver through the branches! Also, they were in the higher parts of the tree so that when they flew off, they would have the immediate altitude needed to soar off without flapping to death as if taking off from the ground. Again, very similar to the Huffer film. Believe what you will, I'm here to say that even though the number of people who have seen them cannot even come close to the number of people that have seen a UFO does not mean that we just saw a damn turkey buzzard!" TF

The 1977 Lawndale, Illinois Thunderbird Attack

On July 25, 1977, as 10-year-old Marlon Lowe played outside his family home along open fields near Kickapoo Creek, near Lawndale, Logan County, Illinois, two giant birds passed over. One suddenly swooped down to grab the boy, carrying him a few feet before dropping him, apparently because of his frightened mother’s screams. The mother witnessed the attack and chased after the bird yelling, the bird released the boy and the two birds flew away. The incident occurred in front of seven witnesses, all of whom described exactly the same thing:

“It had a white ring around its half-foot-long neck. The rest of the body was very black. The bird's bill was six inches in length and hooked at the end. The claws on the feet were arranged with three in front and one in the back. Each wing, less the body, was four feet at the very least. The entire length of the bird's body, from beak to tail feather was approximately four and one-half feet.”

The incident makes national news. Marlon is ridiculed at school and dubbed “The Bird Boy”. Ruth finds dead birds on her porch, the obvious work of pranksters. At work Jake now hears a redundant joke, “Hey Jake, FLY over here and fix this!” Mr. Cox, once hearing of the jokes, jabs, and taunts, reluctantly tells his story but insists his actual identity never be revealed. Ruth and Jake enlist a couple of local men to hunt Kickapoo Creek in hopes of finding and destroying the Big Birds. Ruth throws the county game warden out of her house after the warden [allegedly] laughed in her face and called her a liar.

Ruth's also stated:

"Marlon weighs 56 pounds, is almost four feet tall, and has very red hair. We measured the area and determined the bird carried Marlon 35 feet. Our Saint Bernard never barked, the dog barks at everything all the time. The State police came by, three of them, and walked around Kickapoo."

More sightings of big birds continue to be reported in Illinois, plus "Texas" Chief John Huffer now claims to have taped the creatures near Shelbyville, and the film was shown on the local central Illinois news broadcasts. Thought by many to be a turkey vulture, it remains fairly unknown evidence of a possible mystery animal. To date little, if any, evaluation of the film has been done, the Discovery Channel, in their program “Into the Unknown” gave the film some mention but dismissed it fairly quickly as a vulture.

SASQUATCH THROWS LOG Into Campsite in Colville National Forest, Washington

A couple and their dog are camping in the Colville National Forest, Washington. For hours, various sounds are getting nearer to the campsite. Then a large log is thrown and hits the vehicle.

"I was off to do some winter camping. It was late February of 2009 I believe and there was nobody around to be seen. We got there and started setting up camp and this was around 1pm. I heard what we assumed was an elk bugle off in the distance so I cracked some huge rock to semi-replicate gunshots to basically let the wildlife know I was there then continued to settle in.

Over the next few hours, the (bugle sound) got closer and closer and at first my dog was running free not a care in the world. My dog had treed mountain lions and run-off bears, he was fearless. The sounds got closer and closer and got to a point where it sounded like 20 yards away or so. The best I could guess, it would call every 30-45 minutes at first. My dog stopped running like he was and started circling only the immediate campsite.

After a couple hours of this, it started to sound like a multi-pitched whistle almost like a wooded train whistle is the best way I can describe it. By about 6:30pm it would call and about 15 minutes later there was a reply from about the equal distance on the opposite side of us. And it went on a while back and forth. By 11pm there were at least 5 different calls around our camp, all similar sounding but distinctly different and unique. That was when we started to record audio (lost the recording over the years).

At this point, my dog was acting a bit skittish and wouldn't go more the maybe 15 feet away from the truck, and with its tail kind of tucked which was very out of character for him. I started to feel a bit unsettled and around midnight I started my truck and started loading my stuff because I had a deep gut feeling something was about to happen. I couldn't shake it, so I got the dog and girlfriend in the truck while I was packing.

Out of nowhere this loud crunching sound and then through the air a log came flying from the direction of one of the whistles I had been hearing. It was a big log like 8-10 inches in diameter and maybe 6 feet long, way too big for a human to throw. The way this thing flew it smashed the back window of my 4-runner and dented the side panel around the window pretty bad. It had extreme force. Needless to say, I was quickly in the driver's seat, got out of there, and drove 2 hours home non-stop! I was terrified! I left half of my supplies in the camp and never looked back. I still haven't returned to this day.

This took place at Sullivan Lake (Colville National Forest) in Washington state. If you know the area it is a wild area to the locals. You know not to tent camp and bring heavy artillery which I only learned years later. Anyway, I later showed a group of rangers my audio, and 3 of the 4 tried to tell me oh it was a screech owl or it was this or that. But the 1 ranger in particular kind of went a bit white and stayed quiet. When the other 3 left and got into their rigs he told me I can't tell you what I think it was but I will say you are very lucky to have gotten out of there. He also saw the side of my 4-runner which I had taped over the broken window sitting in the parking lot.

So I can confirm that there are Sasquatch in those mountains. It's the only thing that makes sense. But I have never to this day heard any other audio that sounds like what I heard that night." R

SHIMMERING HUMANOID or 'GLIMMER MAN' Observed on Chicago Neighborhood Street

A shimmering humanoid or 'Glimmer Man' is observed by a teen watching the street below his apartment in Chicago, Illinois. The witness was startled when the being looked at him!

"I live in Chicago, Illinois and I'm in my early twenties. When I was in my teens during the summer here I was looking out my front window one night. Mind you the window was open due to my family living in a rather old apartment building at the time with a less-than-optimal air conditioner.

So I'm looking out the window and I spot this weird area of distortion across the street. At the time for a moment, I thought it was a plastic sheet that had caught onto a bush that was in front of the house there.

However, it moved. Like a person would, just shuffling about on the sidewalk, rippling like a person under a transparent sheet. I looked on in amazement and confusion not knowing what to make of what I was seeing.

However, my amazement came to a halt when I felt the being look at me. It was as if it, like a person felt it was being watched and looked dead at me. I got scared and ran back into the back of the house.

Never seen anything like it since. I know that sounds stupid or like some dumb dream but this happened. This actually happened." O

Possible BIGFOOT Observed in Rural Montgomery County, Pennsylvania

A Montgomery County, PA resident had an unsettling sighting of an ape-like creature in September 2023. The witness contacted me for any information that I could provide.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I had an encounter with something but I'm currently unsure as to what. I was told to contact you. Due to personal factors, I moved in with some family to a rural area of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. My aunt's house, where I'm at, sits on one of several hills with a meadow below it. She also owns several acres of woods, with a creek running through them, and so on. It's a very desolate place.

One morning, in September 2023, I woke up around 5 AM to some twigs snapping. I went outside and walked downhill to the meadow, and by some holly bushes that border the woods, I saw a large figure, looking ahead. I called out, at first assuming it was a person, as on occasion we will get hunters (but these are neighbors who give proper identification and basically let us know when they'll be around). Instead of responding, the figure walked away. It seemed to almost shrink into the woods.

It was a large figure, easily six feet minimum. I didn't get the greatest look at it, as it was dark and somewhat far away, but I saw heavy, shaggy fur or hair. Looked like quills. I want to say multiple layers of it. Set back face, noticed large eyebrows and a nose, the head sunk into the torso. It was a mix of brown and gray fur or hair colors.

I returned to the spot in a few hours and stepped over, behind the bushes. All the holly berries from the plants were gone, they were there a few days prior. There were also indents in the ground, maybe footprints. There were sticks snapped off of the trees, and thrown across the ground.

I was certainly unsettled, so I looked into it further and thought I'd concluded that this might've been some sort of ape or apeman (Bigfoot?). I'm not a hunter, doing drugs, nothing like that. It was ape-like. Do you have any thoughts?" P

NOTE: The witness later stated that the encounter occurred near Perkiomenville, PA. Even though the BFRO has no sighting reports from Montgomery County, I have received possible sighting reports in the past. Lon

MYSTERIOUS FLUTE PLAYING & OTHER UNEXPLAINED EVENTS Occurring at Oregon RV Park

A couple decided to move to an RV park in the southern woods of Oregon. The witness describes several unexplained incidents that she and others have noticed.

The following account was forwarded to me:

"Last summer 2023, I quit my job as a professor, we rented out our home and used that income to move into the woods of southern Oregon. My husband has a good job and I freelance. One of the ways I contribute to the household is by working as a camp host 3 days a week in the RV park we live in, in exchange for free rent and utilities. I usually just make reservations, but it means I get to spend some time outside talking to others. There have been a few spooky events happen that I wanted to share.

First of all, the mysterious flute playing. Our park is in the middle of nowhere the woods. A small hill towers over us on one side (covered with impenetrable trees) and a river is on the other. At least 3 times a week we hear what sounds like a flute or recorder playing for an hour or so at a time. Sometimes, it comes from the deep woods, sometimes from the river. I brought it up to a resident who has been here since 2004. She strongly advised me to ignore it and not mention it.

Next, a scraping sound at night. About once a week I hear a scraping sound dragging along the ground through the park, towards the deep woods. My husband has heard it, but no one else. Interestingly, the park 'Ring' alerts me that someone is standing in front of the office when I hear this sound, but the camera doesn't pick anyone up. Because I hate the ring going off when cars drive by, I have it set to where someone needs to be standing on the office porch to generate an alert.

Next, a late-night caller. We regularly get calls after dark asking us for a space for the night at the last minute. I take their credit card over the phone and use a map to direct them to a space without leaving my trailer. The park owner explained that she didn't want me to help any late arrivals after dark. In fact, she makes it a strict rule that we're not allowed to answer the phone at all between midnight and 6 AM. I was told that camp hosts need to be careful about who they invite into the campground?

Then other random things occur. I'm in charge of selecting long-term residents if we have any open spaces. I review criteria such as applicants' jobs, size, and age of their rig, etc. While children are welcome to visit the park for short stays, no one with kids is allowed to move in on a monthly/yearly basis. The owner hasn't ever given me a real reason for this.

The park was built by a wood carver. There are massive and strange-looking totems, sculptures, carved doors, etc, all over the property.

This all being said, our park is a slice of heaven. I love taking my dogs to swim in the river, wild mushroom gathering, and listening to the sound of the rain with just a thin roof between us. Also, I feel very safe here. I'm becoming more open to the idea that the woods can just be weird in some ways I don't always get.

I wonder if there is something unexplained going on here or if it's just our imagination?" N

Possible MOTHMAN Encounter at Lake Delavan, Wisconsin in Autumn 2002

A Wisconsin resident rents a camping spot near Lake Delavan to be alone and grieve his grandfather's passing. What occurs while he is there may be connected to the Chicago Mothman phenomenon.

I received the following account:

"My grandpa told me to watch the crows, that they're guardians of the forest. He said they'll tell you if a predator is out there. My grandpa was fascinated with them and therefore I was too. Grandpa passed away in the early Autumn of 2002 and I took it pretty hard. I didn't go to the funeral because I just knew I would be a mess and I didn't want anybody to see me like that. He used to take me fishing when I was a kid to Lake Delavan in southeast Wisconsin.

There was a campground just across from the lake. After my grandpa passed, instead of dealing with it along with my family, I decided to rent myself a campsite and I took off. It was strange being there without him and I hadn't been on the lake since I was a kid. It seemed like I was the only person there but that wasn't too surprising given the time of year. It was starting to get cold so while the lake did have a few other visitors during the day I had the campground all to myself at night.

When I arrived I noticed a group of crows hanging around in the trees above me. Crows don't typically like people in the woods. I survived the first night but I didn't get much sleep. I was feeling pretty alone so I ended up keeping a fire going through the night. The fishing was good, so good in fact that I kept a couple of fish to feed the crows. I wasn't sure if they would take them since they seemed to distrust me but I thought that maybe they would make a little less noise. They did feed on the fish that I left for them.

This went on for a few days. I fished all day and I came back to camp to make something to eat and feed the crows. These crows had a habit of making noise at night. Then, on the 4th night, they woke me up again, but it was different. The sounds were different. There was a sense of urgency in their caws. I thought back to what my grandpa told me about the crows and predators in the woods. I thought they were squawking at me but suddenly I realized they might be alerting me to something else out there.

I grabbed my flashlight, and my knife, and unzipped the tent. I was greeted by a pair of red eyes from up in the trees directly across from me. I could almost see the outline of the creature but it didn't look right, it was too big. Birds weren't that big. The crows were cawing like crazy. I shined the light towards the creature and I don't even know how to explain it without sounding crazy. What I saw was a bird the size of a man. It had a dark-colored body and wings that were either black or brown I couldn't tell. Its eyes were red and large, that much I know for certain. The red brightness from the eyes seemed supernatural. Very weird! It appeared to have the proportions of a man, like it was half man half bird. The wings were huge and looked like those of a dragon. Yeah, I know that sounds crazy. I began to yell at it. At the same time, the crows continued harassing it.

Together with the crows we drove the thing off and let me tell you when it took flight the whole forest shook. The thing was huge! I got out of there right at first light.

It wasn't exactly the getaway I needed but it was somehow comforting to have been helped by the crows. I don't know what the thing wanted me to do but it must have been out there every night the crows weren't squawking at me. All those times they were telling me that there was a predator out there. Sometimes I think that the spirit of my grandpa was there as well, using the crows to warn me about the winged creature." L

Possible Massive THUNDERBIRD Encounter in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Three Canadian friends are standing on a balcony at night when they observe a massive bird on top of the willow tree. Because of the immense size, the witness wonders if it is a Thunderbird.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I live in Canada in the province of Ontario in the city of Mississauga. The incident took place mid-December 2011 around 2:30 AM and it was shaping up to be a very green Christmas as there wasn’t snow on the ground at that time. My brother, a close friend, and I were on my balcony as I lived on the mid-upper floor of an apartment building.

As we're standing there I see this dark black silhouette moving on top of the willow tree which is on the building property. As I see this silhouette fluttering on the top crown canopy of the willow I grab my brother's and friend's attention asking them if they can make out what I'm seeing. I first thought it was a big black tarp being animated by the wind flow. Once all three of us locked into what we were seeing, the wings, a neck, and the structure of the bird became very apparent. This thing seemed very restless as it kept pacing around the top canopy of the willow. During this time cell phones had poor night support cameras as I’m sure many of you might remember. Trying to take videos at night with an iPhone 3GS, Blackberry Bold, LG, and early Androids, especially if zoomed in, you were left with horrible grainy rubbish. We tried to capture it on camera from my balcony which yielded the previously mentioned results.

All three of us ran down to the ground floor. The mere presence of this animal keeps your soul frozen. It’s like you can’t fathom something like this being thrown to you visually. It was that moment that led me to discover what a natural high is in this world. My brother and our friend made it about 6 feet away from the door that leads out from the building, these guys weren’t mentally prepared for something like this as they both tripped over each other while keeping their eyes glued to it. This animal was quite frightening especially when you have to come to terms with the reality you now share with it, knowing it’s living and breathing as you are.

I chose to proceed closer to the tree until I got about 5 feet from it. I couldn’t approach any closer as it shrieked a sound so intimidating and loud it sounded like an eagle on steroids but much deeper and sharper in terms of its pitch. I distinctly remember it going into a crouched position with its tail up and its head charging downwards with its wings halfway opened and curled upwards. This bird is all black with some red feathering near the face. I never felt that specific feeling of fear before.

I ran back toward my brother and friend the bird continued to get more restless and aggressive. It literally flapped its wings and hopped to the next building which is about 4 stories high while the willow is about 7 stories and the distance between both places is less than 15 feet. It paced around there agitated then flew off again and disappeared. The wing span was definitely 20 feet easily and it was about 8-10 feet tall.

I was lucky enough to share it with 2 others. We told a few of our other friends and surprisingly they believed us. I became really obsessed with finding answers, I even thought about calling the avian people who oversee the birds and wildlife at the zoo but didn’t want them to think we were crazy/lying.

I have wondered since that night if this was an actual Thunderbird. Whatever it was I'll never forget the experience." C

BIPEDAL DOG-LIKE CRYPTID Encountered Near Tonmawr, Wales

A Welsh boy is in the local forest when he comes face-to-face with a bipedal dog-like creature. It is leaning against a tree and staring at the witness. The youth immediately ran home.

The following account was forwarded to me:

"I live in Southern Wales UK. Now admittedly, we aren’t known for our cryptids (more known for ghosts, which I don’t believe in) I’m a 30 man and live in a remote area. In the past, I’ve hunted and eaten rabbits. However, I no longer do this as I can’t hurt animals anymore. The largest (native) animal we have is the red deer.

For many years, there have been news articles of large cats in our area, possibly puma or panther, that had grown too large for their owners. I live in an area close to Tonmawr, Wales, and there is a creature sighted frequently called the “ Beast Of Tonmawr.” A police officer who was a close friend of my family told of an encounter with said beast.

However, the creature I encountered that day, when I was 11 years old, was neither a large cat nor a red deer. I had been playing with my cousins. As children who lived in the valley, exploring the trees, forests, rivers, and valleys was the norm.

My cousin, who lived barely 2 miles from my house, had asked me to go for a walk and explore .(as our parents, related in some distant ways, sat, spoke, and ate)

My cousin was a lot thinner and more agile than me. While exploring the forests, barely a mile from his home. I had lost sight of him rather quickly. I’m not sure what made me turn to my right. I heard no sound or caught no glimpse in the corner of my eye, but I turned and glanced.

There in the tree line, maybe 20 feet from me, was a creature I could only explain as a bipedal dog. Werewolf isn’t the word, this was, sure as day, a dog. It was leaning against a tree using one paw to steady itself. As I looked at it, the creature pushed off from the tree and stood in a way that was terrifying and threatening at the same time, a stance I knew immediately as aggressive, though I couldn’t say why. It was run away or die, even at 11 years old I knew that.

I ran with tears streaming, all the way back to my cousin’s home. When my younger cousins returned, they scolded me for my imagination getting the better of me.

I know what I saw that day. I’m 31 now and I’ll remember the sheer helplessness I felt in that creature's presence for the rest of my life. The world is a scary place, never underestimate it." D
