Carol Brady, Fidel Castro, and Me

America's Mom Cuba's Dad

Like two sides of a coin, good and evil, Florence Henderson, aka Carol Brady, and Fidel Castro, former Dictator of Cuba, both died yesterday. For those of you that haven’t had your morning coffee, Florence Henderson represented the good, All-American mom on the iconic 1970’s show The Brady Bunch. Fidel Castro was the Communist dictator who, with several of his supporters, including his brother Raul, now President, overthrew the Cuban government in 1959.

Good and evil, Yin and Yang, give and...

Thank You

In the United States we’re celebrating the holiday of Thanksgiving today. Most get together with family and talk about what they’re thankful for over a meal of turkey.

Usually I post a list of unusual things I’m thankful for. This year instead of trying to be funny, I’m going to try to be sincere. The past twelve months has been one of the most challenging years of my life. Things are settling down for me, and when I look back on the past year and look at my blog stats, all of you have been h...

Dwayne “The Failure” Johnson, Sexiest Man Alive?

tooth-fairy-poster-395x300

So now People Magazine is stooping to this. Dwayne “The Failure” Johnson has one movie out and another coming out soon, so People names him Sexiest Man Alive, hoping to gravy train off of his publicity. Sad.

Also, are we going to accept a complete failure as our Sexiest Man Alive? We already did for our Presidency; do we want, as a country, to add another ridiculous iconic has-been as the face of our nation? This is what people should really be protesting about.

I like the angry baby more than Dwayne Johnson

I like the angry baby more th...

Wordless Wednesday!

I find this very concerning. Was someone or something breaking into or out of the cemetery?

Top Ten Tuesday! The Top Ten Reasons I Should Be Sexiest Man Alive!

Sexiest

It’s coming. It’s coming soon whether you like it or not. This week the most powerful man in the world will be announced. What? You thought that was that little election from last week? Puh-leeze! Sometime in the next two days People Magazine will announce their Sexiest Man Alive for 2016. I may have been called a lot of things over the years, but, hard to believe, this prestigious title has eluded me. Yes, I know you’re surely saying to yourself, “What? There must be some mistake! How could...

Tiny House, Weird Neighborhood

Here I am writing The Phil Factor in my third home in the last 11 1/2 years. It’s because I’m always “on the lam”, staying one step ahead of the law. I wonder if anyone has ever been on the lam on an actual lamb. I think trying to get away quickly while riding a lamb would be ill advised, although if you were on the lam on a lamb you could always eat it if you ran out of food. You can’t do that with a motorcycle. For those of you curious, it is on the “lam”, not on the “lamb”. Yes, I looked i...

Throwback Thursday! My House Is A Very Very Fine House

Two cats in the yard

Two cats in the yard

I’m moving tomorrow. When you think of things that are long term or permanent in your life, most do think of their house but I doubt very many think of their blog. This Throwback Thursday is interesting because I wrote it in 2005 shortly after I sold the last house I lived in. I still feel the same way today.

(Oct. 14, 2005) 3 bedrooms, one bath, and one melancholy owner. Amenities include several new windows, one of which was replaced very recently due to a baseball shape...
