Wordless Wednesday!

This one isn’t local art. Well, it’s local if you live in Las Vegas. I took this in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel when I visited there a few weeks ago.

Top Ten Tuesdays! Ten Things More Likely to Kill You Than Ebola

3696713

I don’t know if the rest of the world is freaking out about this Ebola thing, but I know the U.S. is, and there’s only been four people in the U.S. with ebola. As a public service I’m using this weeks top ten list to put the ebola “crisis” into perspective. In other words, there are a whole bunch of others things you should be a lot more worried about.

10. Lightning strikes:Not to be confused with “lightening” strikes which is when hairdressers stop working and no one can get their highlights...

P.T. Phone Home

7553a7deb836446

Funny thing; I just discovered that my texting device has an app to make phone calls too. Isn’t modern technology great? What will they think of next?

You like to think that you’re immune to the stuff…oh yeah. It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough. You’re gonna have to face it. You’re addicted to” your phone?

I got a new phone this week. I admit it, I’m a phone addict. The first step is admitting you’re powerless over your phone. I think as a society we’re addicted to our phones...

Twitter People vs. Facebook People

Yes, this is my Throwback Thursday post. When I posted this a year ago I thought it was a good post, but I had no idea the interest it would draw. Over 17,000 views in one day. I hope it’s as well received this time.

FBvsTw

Since 2004 Facebook is the brand name associated with social media. Twitter has been something of a much maligned younger sibling in the social media world since it stumbled home drunk two years later. That is the difference between Facebook people and Twitter people.

On Facebook e...

Top Ten Tuesday! Ten Useless Things We Learned in School

Warning! This is not to be read by anyone under the age of 18!Remember all those mind-numbing things we had to learn in school? If you didn’t become a teacher, how many do you still use now? This is my list. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments:

10. The Pythagorean Theorem: A squared plus B squared = C squared. That equation is so archaic that I don’t know how to make the “squared” sign using a keyboard.

9.9.81 m/s2:Again with the squaring?!!? What the hell? Why did old school scie...

Cemetery of the Heart

We all have a Cemetery of the Heart that we visit from time to time. It is a place that is unique and belongs to each of us alone. Sometimes we visit when it’s sunny and the birds are singing and at these times we are unaffected by the memories each marker represents, thankful that we are in a better place.

Other times we visit our Cemetery of the Heart when the weather is cloudy, cold, and stormy, perhaps mourning the loss of those happy memories that warmed our hearts in...

Throwback Thursdays! Daylight Stupid Time

This is my bi-annual reminder that this Saturday we move our clocks back by an hour and my reminder that it’s stupid. I’ve been posting this since 2006 and will continue to do so until we do away with Daylight Savings Time.

Daylight-Savings-Time

When I’m elected President, or Sexiest Man Alive, whichever comes first, I’m going to pass a law getting rid of Daylight Savings Time. I don’t know if other countries do this.  I do know that not all the U.S. states abide by it. Daylight Savings Time was created about...

The Top Ten Things YOU Need to Survive The Zombie Apocalypse by author Marie Lanza

This weeks Top Ten list is a first for The Phil Factor. I’m thrilled to have a Top Ten list by indie zombie author Marie Lanza. Some of you will remember Marie from her hilarious interview here back in January. Since January Marie has released her first full length novel, Fractured: Outbreak Zom 813and The Colony: Isolation which is the second installment in her Colony e-book series.

The Mormon’s Got It Goin’ On! Part II

If you’ve read Fifty Shades of Phil or remember this post from 2011, (Read it, it’s hilarious) you know that I have the utmost respect for the Mormon faith and how they market their religion to the masses. Typically they and Mitt Romney are pretty slick when it comes to showcasing themselves. This past week however, in an effort to diffuse rumors and “normalize” one aspect of their religion their marketing department made what I believe is a colossal mistake that will cost them followers and...
