Top Ten Tuesday! The Top Ten Reasons I’m Not Spider-Man

As a kid growing up I loved Spider-Man comics because the internet hadn’t been invented yet. I wouldn’t want to be Spider-Man though and here’s why:

10.The pay isn’t worth it:He’s doing that gig for free. He got into it because he had been too self-absorbed to stop a petty thief who later killed his uncle. If it’s me I save one life and call it even and then use the awesome strength and speed to go play pro football.

9. I like my beauty sleep:Dude goes to college, works part-time, then fight...

Music Monday! Rob Schneider’s Daughter ?!!?

This is the first time I’ve featured a musical artist a second time. The reason is that the first time I featured Elle King, I didn’t know that comedic actor Rob Schneider was her dad.

I first featured her last Spring because her song Ex’s & Oh’s was storming up the charts and I loved her voice. This song, America’s Sweetheart is the second single from her album Love Stuff.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

A Conversation with My Future Grandchildren

54f9d6bee28d1_-_tv-restaurants-seinfeld-diner-xl

The genesis for this post occurred when I was eating at a diner recently. Nearby was a table of ten elderly folks, all looking about 70 if i had to guess. Maybe they were high school friends who still get together weekly. I wasn’t paying them much attention other than the fleeting thought that I wouldn’t want to be the waitress cashing them out when they’re all trying to pay for their meals individually, with exact change and coupons from other restaurants. Suddenly, very clearly, I heard on...

Throwback Thursday! The Day The Humor Died

2015 was a very tough year for Paris. This week is the one year anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Paris office of the humor magazine Charlie Hebdo. This is what I wrote about it last year.

The image is what’s currently running on the Charlie Hebdo website. “I am Charlie” I rarely go serious here and I debated with myself about how to approach this post. I considered not writing on this topic. We all hear enough about tragedy on a daily basis that I thought in some sma...

Top Ten Tuesday! 10 Ways My Neighbors Annoy Me

3726dc4108adc438571780ab4cf73d7c06f004e02d5572d23c855309fd813236

We all keep this list in our head, don’t we? Unless you live on a farm in the middle of nowhere, you’ve got annoying neighbors. It could be in the ‘burbs, or maybe you live in an apartment. Either way, we all have neighbors who, through no fault of their own, irritate the living crap out of us. To be clear, my neighbors aren’t doing anything illegal, unethical or even marginally newsworthy. I know some of the things on the list are totally my issues, but that doesn’t make my neighbors less s...

Music Monday! Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness is a band, but Andrew McMahon of Orange County, California is also a person. Andrew McMahon was also Jack’s Mannequin, but Andrew McMahonis not a mannequin. He’s a person. Got all that?

If you’re a parent, you know how your kids can’t imagine that you were ever anything but a parent? His song Cecilia And The Satellite, which was hugely popular in 2015, is a song he wrote for his baby daughter, Cecilia, so that some day when she’s old enough to listen, she’ll kn...

2016 Predictions From a Legit Psychic

63600368

Last year about this time I revealed myself to the world as a psychic. I don’t show off or talk about my prodigious prognostic abilities very much. You know me, I’m the most humble guy in the world. On Dec. 30 of 2014 I posted Ten Incredibly True Predictions for 2015.Before I give you this years predictions, lets take a look at how I did last year so we can establish my credibility as a soothsayer.

A lot of people and religious gurus like to predict the end of the world every year. Not me. I...

Eight Things That Annoyed Me in 2015

www.epicpew.com

http://www.epicpew.com

The Pope:Yeah, that’s right. I’m annoyed with the Pope because he ruined a weekend for me. Last March I planned a trip to New York City in September for my wife and I for our anniversary. I booked a gorgeous hotel and got tickets to a concert at Madison Square Garden. The Pope, who hadn’t planned as far ahead as I had, later schedules his trip to New York for that same weekend, canceling the concert and having a parade right down the street in front of the hotel. I didn’...

What’s An Optimistic Eggshell?

FD005172_XS

If you missed this post last week, I’ll catch you up. My wife was recently diagnosed with cancer. It’s her second time. The last was twelve years ago, so we thought that we were free to live out the rest of our lives without worry. We we’re wrong. I’m going to sort of journal our experience weekly but am not sharing this to any other social media, so please don’t either. Last week on my birthday I got to take her to an abdominal PET scan and a bone scan. Ok, you’re all caught up.

Three weeks...

Caitlyn Jenner? Winner:Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Kardashian, left some things behind and won a trophy. Caitlyn won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY’s. The former Olympic gold medal winning decathlete also left his/her former gender behind andgot the hell out of the Kardashian family. She should have named her brief reality show One Flew Out of the Cuckoos Nest. If escaping the Kardashian’s i...
