Being a College Student/President of a Sorority/Published Author/This Title has too many slashes...

Before I begin this post, I would like to apologize for my lack of posts this past week. After the blogger book fair, life got a little hectic as I moved back to my college apartment. Speaking of being a college student, I come back to the purpose of this post.

I'm often asked what it is like to be a college student double major/president of my sorority/published author? It's tiring just saying it. While is sounds odd, even to me, I am blessed to be able to live this life. But that doesn't mean it doesn't come with its own set of challenges.

I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I'd actually publish while still in college. It has always been a dream and goal of mine, but I don't think I really thought it would come to pass. But that's just how awesome my God is - He knows the desires of my heart and heaps blessings on me that I don't deserve. And that's the only way I know I can live this life and wear all the hats that I do, through Jesus Christ and the strength He gives me.
But like I said, it's not always easy being a double major and published author. I almost feel like I can't talk about my books in classes for fear of being judged. YES, JUDGED. I don't want other students looking at me differently and I especially don't want my professors judging me one way or another - whether it is positive or negative. However, it is hard to hide something as big as this. And it's not that I want to hide it. I'm very proud of my books, but I also want to be treated just like any other student and I want the other students to treat me the same way.
So it's a difficult balance I try to keep. But so far it has been doable. But now I have the added blessing of being president of my sorority. I am absolutely thrilled and honored to step into this role ( DOVE LOVE), but I obviously still have some fear that makes me question myself.

But that's when the Lord tells me again and again that He would never give me anything I couldn't handle. And it's true. I can do it all, not by my own strength, but by the strength Christ has equipped me with.

So as I go into this new semester with new goals and dreams, I am reminded that Christ holds my destiny, both in class and in my career, and that trusting Him is the first step. My advice to any one who is also feeling the same way as I am in whatever situation is to take a deep breath, take the chance, and remember that regret is worse than fear or failure.

Blogger Book Fair Day Five: Character interview with Alyssa's Auch's Wynn

Welcome to the last day of the Blogger Book Fair! I am excited to host a character interview with Alyssa Auch's Wynn. I hope you all enjoy and check out her book!
Tell us a little about yourself. My name is Wynn, I am twenty-one, and I am the only witch born in one hundred years. I run a lot—I’ve spent most of my life doing that. My parents were afraid of me and left me in an egg box outside a lord’s kitchen as a baby. And there’s this problem of a warlock hunting me. I have a stressful life.
What is your favorite childhood memory?       I remember one of the women who raised me, a servant in Lord Berot’s house, cared for me very much. Her name was Sheila, and she would take me away from the kitchens sometimes. We would sit on this uneven, grassy hill overlooking the berry fields in the summer. She wove starlet flowers through my hair, saying more with her actions than she could with words; she told me I was wanted. She had thin, wrinkled hands, I remember, and I used to just watch them work as she twisted the stems of those flowers, braiding and knotting them into circlets.
When was the first time you fell in love?        Recently. And it has taught me that you don’t always “find” love. As he once told me, the people you love sometimes just dawn on you.
What is your opinion on love at first sight?       It certainly did not happen to me! And I do not know very much about love. I have been so swept away in the current of my life, I could not tell you what the lovebirds were doing in the branches above.
What is the one thing you wish you could change about yourself?       My eyes. They mark me before anyone can know me.
Who is the one person, living or dead, you most admire?        The man I fell in love with.

Quick Fire Questions:
1.     Coke or Pepsi? I have no idea what those are. But my author says Coke.2.     Salty or Sweet? I like sweet things.3.     Book or Movie? Thing I know versus thing I have never heard of—I will go with book.4.     Favorite Color? Violet blue5.     Favorite Vacation Spot? I have always been told that a holiday in Ediston province is relaxing. And they have a fair there every year that I went to once. It was one of the most fun experiences I can remember.6.    Cats or Dogs? Cats.

Alyssa Auch
Bio
Alyssa Auch was born and raised in Pennsylvania with loving parents and three hilarious younger siblings. Her imagination was sparked by the lush, green forests and bright colors of her home that often spoke of other worlds only found in the magic of writing. She brought that inspiration into the fantasy novels she so loves to create.

Currently, Alyssa is a senior at Brigham Young University-Idaho studying Marriage and Family Relations with a minor in English. She is married to her High School sweetheart, and they have three beautiful children who keep them both very occupied. Although her novels are often written in the late hours of the night and during cherished naptime blocks, she devotes a very special part of herself to the power of words and love of storytelling.

LunulaThe witch knows he will hunt her.
If history repeats itself, as it always does, Wynn will have no choice but to cross paths with her feared counterpart, the warlock. If given the chance, he would kill Wynn, absorbing her aura and obtaining ultimate power. In a desperate attempt to outrun destiny, Wynn moves from place to place, hoping to stray from the map laid out by the Fates. But by chance, on an urgent errand for Queen Alexandria herself, Wynn finds she has fallen into the hands of the one man she so hopelessly fled from. Now his captive, Wynn must guard her secret and that of her kingdom, or risk bringing forth a dark age not seen in hundreds of years.

Blogger Book Fair Day Four: The fabulous and amazing A.E. Howard

I am honored to have had the chance to interview A.E. Howard! I hope you all enjoy the interview and be sure to check out her books!

My Review of Flight of Blue:
I was luckily enough to be able to read Flight of Blue and I have to say, it's wonderful. I enjoyed the fantasy and adventure elements that Howard brings to life through her setting and characters. I was instantly transported to a different world that could exist within our own reality. This middle grade fantasy novel is perfect for readers of all ages, but especially younger readers who are hungry for action and adventure. Kudos to A.E. Howard and her first novel for bringing reading to life for not only myself, but for the many young readers out there who are just learning how fun reading can be. I personally loved this novel with all of its fantastical elements from a magical talking opossum to the larger than life settings and scenes that Howard creates. I look forward to the next book in this series!

Now, on to the interview!
First things first, why do you write?
To silence the voices in my head... That came out creepier sounding than I meant... But really, I have these characters that live up there and they want their stories told, so I write.
What do you do to prepare before you actually begin writing? Music, tea, coffee, etc.?
Coffee, sometimes music. Clean desk when possible.
Do you have a writing routine/schedule?
I write when my son naps.

What’s your favorite part of the creative process?
The spark, the new story suddenly winking into existence in the back of my head.
What are the books that you are promoting?

I have a middle grade fantasy series called the Keeper of the Keys Chronicles. The first full-length novel, Flight of Blue, came out last year. There’s also a spin-off novella told from the viewpoint of the curmudgeonly Opossum sorcerer, Reginald, called Reginald’s Tale currently available. Book 2, The Guardians, will be available Sept 3rd. The series in one sentence goes something like this: With the fabric of the world disintegrating, one boy must stand between the Darkness and everyone he loves.
Flight of BlueWhen a wounded Opossum on the side of the road speaks, Kai’s view of the world is shattered. With the help of his friend, Ellie, he embarks on a journey to return the Opossum to his home. But a cursed traffic light, a rip in the fabric of the world, and an injured sorcerer on a quest for revenge means their journey only leads to more questions. As the Realm of Darkness threatens to push through and make his world vanish, Kai must uncover his parents' past to find a way to close the rip between the Realms. But truth is more dangerous than illusion. As Kai struggles to wield his newly discovered magic, he must choose between accepting a role he hates, but was born to play, and abandoning everyone he loves.

Who is your favorite character from your novel?

Reginald the Opossum sorcerer. (I have to say that or he’ll curse me).
Why do you write for the Middle Grade audience?

Because it’s what I like to read and this series in particular, because I like kids and like giving them stories where compassion, loyalty, courage, and friendship can stand in the face of great evil, and overcome.
Any advice for aspiring authors who would like to be published?

Keep writing, don’t give up, consider Indie publishing, but don’t sacrifice quality for ease of publishing.
Is there anything that you are working on currently that we can be expecting?

Besides finishing book 3 of the Keeper of the Keys, I’ve got part of a first draft written on the first book of a young adult dystopian trilogy called Obliviate. In the first book, two teens, a boy and a girl, and a young girl of about six or seven wake up with no memory of anything before that moment. They are taken in by a community with a strict and strange views and try to find their place. Called only First, Second, and Third at the beginning, they are told they will be assigned names as they are assigned places, but they can't help but wonder, is there more? And where are they, and what happened to the world they came from?
There’s also an epic fantasy in the works. That one’s looking like a trilogy as well. What can I say? Apparently I scheme in three-book story arcs :-)
Since your second book is coming out this September, is there anything you can let readers know about this one?
The Guardians : His parents are trapped. The Guardians are missing, and without them, rips are opening all over the world. Stalked in his dreams by a sinister figure known only as the Dream Walker and pursued by Name Monsters who have teamed up to fight them, will Kai and his friends be able to outwit the forces arrayed against them and free the Guardians in time to close the rips before the Realm of Darkness spills out in the Middle Realm? And will Kai be victorious in the war being waged for his mind while he dreams?

Quick Fire Questions:                        1. McDonalds or Burger King? No thanks :-)            2. Coffee or Tea? Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.            3. Book or Kindle? Depends on my mood. Love a real book, feel, smell, and all that, but I love the ability to carry a ton of books on one skinny tablet. And I especially love how the kindle has made it possible for me to read a ton of awesome Indie authors!            4. Romance or Thriller? Fantasy, Adventure, or Sci Fi please :-) Romance and thrills on the side.            5. Favorite book? Books. I love them. Not all of them, but far too many to be exclusive.            6. Favorite movie? Same with movies. You caught me, I’m a book and movie polygamist for sure.            7. Favorite author? Madeleine L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling.            8. iPhone or Android? iPhone.            9. Favorite color? My goodness. All this commitment. I’ll commit to my current favorite color scheme: Mustard and grey with dark turquoise accents. Other colors I’m consistently drawn to are most colors of the earth, sea and sky (blues, turquoises, greens, greys and browns, with pops of yellows and reds and burnt oranges).            10. Salty or Sweet? Salty after sweet, please. What’s that you say, this was a quick fire round? You wanted one-word answers? Oops. Too late now ;-)

Blogger Book Fair Day Three: Interview with the ever so fabulous, Jen Barry!

It is day three of this wonderful book fair and I am honored to feature Jennifer M. Barry, young adult author of The Kingdom and Side Effects. I am also SO excited to be the first to reveal a little sneak peek of the sequel of The Kingdom, The Morning Star! Keep reading to see! :)            First things first, why do you write?
Oh, I really want to say something artsy, like, “I write because I simply must.” All angsty and tortured, like. The truth is it’s fun. I get to play with new worlds, create characters, invent the perfect/imperfect outcome. Who wouldn’t want to do that? It’s just fun, and no matter what else I do in life, I know I’ll keep writing.
What do you do to prepare before you actually begin writing? Music, tea, coffee, etc.?
I used to have this grand plan every time I sat down, where I’d brew some flavored coffee, create a playlist of songs to fit my mood, close my eyes and imagine the scene, and then write everything down in a huge flurry of words. As you can imagine, the process for a few paragraphs took hours. Now, I’m lucky to get ten minutes here or there, so I keep my documents open at all times on my laptop and clatter out a few words as they come to me. I kind of like this process better, even if it takes more up-front planning so I don’t veer completely off the rails.
Do you have a writing routine/schedule?
Oh, that would be nice.
What’s your favorite part of the creative process?
Characters. I love to learn what makes them tick and use those little personality flaws to make them do my bidding. In all honesty, when you really create a character, breathe life into him or her, and then set them free, they write the story for you.
What is the book that you are promoting about?
The Kingdom came about because of a fateful bus ride to Blarney Castle in Ireland. This little twerp kicked the back of my seat, and somehow my brain turned him into a fairy. When I got home, I started writing the story of Rioghan, the fairy prince (who is not the kid that kicked my seat), and his struggle between finding true love and claiming his throne. Lily, the lonely daughter of a world-famous opera star, finds herself the unwilling recipient of his affections. Her apparent disinterest fuels his attraction until he realizes he’s in love. The problem is that his father, who has a history with unfaithful humans, would rather Rioghan rule the kingdom. His choice could disrupt the balance between good and evil on Earth, but he has no idea.
Who is your favorite character from your novel?
As much as I love Lily and Rioghan, my favorite character is Ciarán, inspired by the kid on the bus. I had so much fun writing him, and he only grows as a character throughout the series.
Why do you write for the Young Adult audience?
My best memories of childhood were the moments I spent with a book in hand. Well, that’s not entirely fair to my best friends from seventh grade, Heather and Ann, but it’s pretty near the truth. I loved the excitement of the library or the bookstore. When other girls were buying makeup and high heels, I was devouring books. I discovered my favorite heroines of all time—Scout Finch and Anne Shirley—when I was a teen, and I’ve carried their lessons with me since. I want to create that same excitement and attachment for other teens and young adults.
Any advice for aspiring authors who would like to be published?
So much advice. I’ve written blogs about it. First, be realistic. There’s no reason you can’t find success as an author, but you must make sure your goals are attainable. Second, get help. You need editors, no matter how high your English scores were in high school. Third, just do it. You could spend years talking yourself into and out of it. You could take ages to perfect every last detail. None of this will matter if you never let go to see if it can fly. For the love of Godiva (as Lily says), just TRY.            Is there anything that you are working on currently that we can be expecting?
Very, very soon, I’ll release the first in a new series for teens called The Oracles of St. Ambrose: Going Under. Our hero, Chase, is the self-assured heir to millions who moves to Nashville under great duress. On his first day of school, he sees a vision during swim practice of the Queen Bee dead in the pool. Understandably freaked out, he’s more concerned with maintaining his new spot with the elite than solving the mystery until he realizes two things: The visions won’t stop, and two other students have similar psychic abilities. They’re from different social circles, so he learns a lot about himself while also chasing down a killer.
Next in the pipeline, and very close on the heels of the Oracles, is The Morning Star.In this, we pick up right where Lily and Rioghan left off in The Kingdom, as she returns to New York to start school at Juilliard without her love. It’s darker, deeper, and had a ton more action. I’m so excited to finally share it with everyone.
If you stranded on an island and you can only bring 3 books and one CD, what would you bring and why?
Two answers are probably obvious. I can’t get tired of To Kill a Mockingbird or Anne of Green Gables. I’d probably round that list out with The Catcher in the Rye, but there’s a strong urge to take along a romance that makes my heart twist and breath catch—just so I don’t forget these feelings exist while in exile.
As for the CD, is it cheating to make a mix of my all-time favorites? I’d have a song each by the Beatles, Phish, Pink Floyd, Daniel Ellsworth and the Great Lakes, Bobby Long, Swear and Shake, Heyrocco, Jeff Buckley, the Weepies, the Smiths, French Camp, Oasis, the Black Keys, and Procol Harum. If I could only take one, I guess it would be Abbey Road.

Quick Fire Questions:                        1. McDonalds or Burger King? I cannot.            2. Coffee or Tea? Depends on whether I’m in America or Ireland.            3. Book or Kindle? Kindle (I never thought I’d say that.)            4. Romance or Thriller? Romance            5. Favorite book? Gah! No way to decide. I have Forever Favorites and Right-Now Favorites. Way too many to mention. Fine, fine. To Kill a Mockingbird. Surprised?            6. Favorite movie? Siiiigh. If pressed, probably Boondock Saints. Or Snatch. Or…            7. Favorite author? Crap. Who can decide? Lately, I’ll read anything by Kate SeRine, Delphine Dryden, Melissa Fox, Elizabeth Hunter, or Ruthie Knox.            8. iPhone or Android? iPhone            9. Favorite color? Red            10. Salty or Sweet? Both. At the same time, please.

About The Kingdom:
Trapped on Earth since the fall of Lucifer, Prince Rioghan has left thousands of broken hearts in his wake, and he wants Lily’s to be the next. His father, the High King of Fairies, expects Rioghan to behave like the royal he is, but the challenge Lily presents is too inviting. Accustomed to living in her famous mother’s shadow, Lily guards her heart behind a prickly exterior. The harder she resists, the faster he falls, until she becomes the very center of his existence.
When Rioghan chooses love over the power of the throne, he infuriates his father and upsets the age-old balance between good and evil. A battle is coming–a fight to the death for true love, honor, and The Kingdom.

About Jen:
Jennifer M. Barry knows she’s in trouble when people use her whole name, so just Jen is fine. In addition to writing and editing, she loves to drink coffee, consume entirely too much Cherry Garcia, laugh at herself on her blog, and watch live music. Jen lives in Nashville with her husband, Liam. They just bought their first house and are freaking out about taxes, redecorating, return on investment, and a million other grown-up things. Life is officially weird.

The Morning Star Excerpt
“Ahem.” Whitley cleared her throat dramatically and stepped aside.
Behind her stood a wildly beautiful arrangement of morning star lilies. A smile split my face. After the day I’d had, flowers from Rioghan were the perfect remedy.
I flung myself across the room and snatched the card from the little plastic holder hidden among the fragrant blooms. My fingers trembled as I opened the envelope, expecting a florist card. Instead, a piece of notebook paper fell out, its ragged edges still intact from where the author had ripped it from the pad.
On some level, I knew Rioghan couldn’t have delivered flowers with a handwritten note, but my heart still surged as I opened the folded slip.
I see you even when you don’t know I am there. Your beauty captivates me, and I will not rest until I can call you mine.
“What is this?”
Rachael and Whitley had no idea. As far as they knew, I had received an amazing bouquet from my very attentive boyfriend. My heart had caught up with my head, and both understood the flowers weren’t from Rioghan.
“Can we read it?” Rachael asked meekly.
My reaction, or lack of reaction, had completely baffled her.
“Yeah.” I shoved the note into her waiting hands. “Here. I need to call Rioghan.”
I left the girls musing over the slip of paper and crossed the suite to my bedroom. Rioghan’s call from that morning was the last received, so I quickly hit redial as the door slammed shut.
“Lily?” The delight in his voice curled through me, warming chilled recesses in my heart.
“I know the answer is no, but I need to ask.” I rushed forward without a hello. “Did you bring flowers? Did you come over here and I missed you?”
Rioghan had nice penmanship, but the note was written in block letters. Anyone could have written it. Perhaps he had sent Ciaran or Fechin over with them?
“If they are from you, they’re gorgeous, and thank you, but your note was terribly confusing.”
After a moment of complete silence, he mumbled a curse.
“I suppose good boyfriends would bring their girlfriends flowers, wouldn’t they?” Rioghan sighed. “Forgive me, love. You deserve that and more.”
My eyes crossed as I huffed a frustrated breath. “Geek. Listen. Someone sent me flowers. The note is creepy, especially now that I know it wasn’t from you.”
I recited the message from memory, talking over the catch in his breath. He pressed me to keep Dave close by at all times and then promised he would send me flowers the next day.
“You’ll do no such thing,” I exclaimed. “Flowers will always make me feel squicky now. He sent me lilies, for the love of Godiva.”

Now, without further waiting, here is an excerpt of Sydney Logan's latest work, Mountain Charm.
  Mountain Charm Blurb
“True love and sweet whispers, till death do us part;
Send someone to love my Appalachian heart.”

At the age of thirteen, Angelina Clark followed in the footsteps of her ancestors by casting an Appalachian love spell, which promised she would blossom into a beautiful and gifted woman who would find her true love. A young Angelina had been thrilled to participate in the sacred ritual, but through the years, her father’s untimely death and her mother’s failing health have shaken Angelina’s magical faith to its core. As her twenty-first birthday approaches, she refuses to practice her supernatural gifts and no longer believes in the love charm.

That is, until Dylan Thomas arrives on her front porch.

Dylan, a Nashville writer, travels to the mountain town of Maple Ridge to unearth the family’s supernatural secrets. While her clairvoyant mother is convinced that Dylan is her daughter’s soul mate, Angelina refuses to see the nosy reporter as anything more than a nuisance.

Despite their constant bickering, sparks fly.

Dylan admits he feels strangely drawn to Angelina and is in no hurry to leave Maple Ridge or publish his magazine article. Fearful that his emotions are being influenced by the spell, a stubborn Angelina struggles to fight her own budding attraction to the reporter.

The two inevitably grow closer just as her mother’s health begins to deteriorate, and Angelina is faced with the possibility of selling the family’s music shop to pay the mounting medical expenses. Desperate to help the woman he loves, Dylan explores his own family tree and finds support from an unlikely source. Can he finally prove his love is real—spell or no spell?

A story filled with love, friendship, family, and just a hint of Appalachian magic, Mountain Charm will leave you spellbound.
Mountain Charm Excerpt
“It’s your birthday?” Dylan asked.

“Yes, and it was blissfully uneventful until you showed up.”
“Beautiful and infuriating,” Dylan muttered. “Look, Angelina, I was just given this assignment yesterday. I don’t have a clue about Appalachian magic tricks or devil-worshipping or whatever it is you do up in these mountains, but I have a story to write. Just let me interview you and your mom, and I’ll be back on the interstate before you can say abracadabra.
Instead of pointing out just how ignorant he sounded, Angelina decided what he truly needed was a strong dose of fear.
“Actually, I do have something you need to see. A family heirloom. Wait here?”
Excited for any useful information, Dylan’s eyes lit up and he nodded enthusiastically. Once again, those good manners kicked in, and Dylan opened the door for her.
Angelina raced inside the house. She hadn’t touched it in years, but she still remembered where her father kept the key to the case. She grabbed what she needed and quickly made her way back out to the porch, letting the screen door slam behind her.
Dylan jumped out of his chair. “What the hell?”
Angelina lifted the rifle and pointed it straight at him. He didn’t need to know the safety was on—or that the chamber was empty.
“This is a Remington, passed down from my father and his father, also known as an Appalachian magic wand. Just watch. It’s going to make you disappear.”
Angelina thought it was almost comical, hearing him curse and watching him leap off the porch. All the commotion caused her dog to chase after him, which only made Dylan sprint faster until he reached the sanctuary of his vehicle.
“Are you insane?” Dylan yelled.
“I tend to get a little crazy when someone trespasses on my property. Leave my family alone and don’t come back!”
He slammed the door and had to do some fancy maneuvering to get around her car, but within seconds, the only sounds Angelina could hear were Dylan’s squealing tires, her dog’s noisy bark, and her mother’s hearty laughter.

Blogger Book Fair Day One: Let's Get This Party Started!

Hello lovely readers! I am so excited to once again be apart of the Blogger Book Fair. Today, we have a very special interview with Princess Madeline, the main character of Kirstin Pulioff's books.

Character Interview – Princess Madeline
Tell us a little about yourself.  How fun!  I’m a bit surprised you haven’t heard of me.  I am the princess of Soron, the daughter to King Theodore and Queen Eleanor, and twin sister to Prince Braden.  It is going to be my sixteenth birthday next week, and I am looking forward to all the fun festivities planned.
What is your favorite childhood memory?  There are so many.  My favorites would be exploring the castle with my best friend Sophia.  Between lessons, we would race up and down the corridors, getting lost, finding secret passages, and playing games.
When was the first time you fell in love?  Oh… well, I am still waiting.  I know my father has plans of his own, but I am still waiting to fall in love.  I know, somewhere, there is someone for me.
What is your opinion on love at first sight?I believe in it, whole heartedly.  I believe in all of it… the love, the romance, the courting, and the happily ever after.
What is the one thing you wish you could change about yourself?  If you asked my father or brother this, they would have an answer or two for you.  This is tough.  I like to think that I am a normal sixteen year old, with the perks of being a princess.  If I had to choose something, maybe, I could be a little less stubborn.
Who is the one person, living or dead, you most admire?  That is a tough one.  I should say my father, he is the king afterall… but I will say my mother.  She died when I was a baby, and I wish I had known more about her.  They tell me stories, about how smart, beautiful, and brave she was… how I am a lot like her.  I just wish I knew more.

Quick Fire Questions:
Coke or Pepsi?  What are those wonderful things?  Our apothecary makes a wonderful collection of different teas, but nothing with those names.  I prefer the sweet teas, and water.
Salty or Sweet?  Sweet
Book or Movie?  I am not sure what a movie is, but I do love to read the ancient legends from the library.  Most of the scrolls are filled with lessons and history, but there is a small section with the ancient legends and stories which I love to read.
Favorite Color?  Pink, any and all shades.
Favorite Vacation Spot?  I love walking through the Great Forest.  I have not travelled far beyond, but one day I will.
Cats or Dogs?  Neither… after my accident on the horse, my father does not allow us to have any personal pets.

Meet My Precious Baby, Darcy and Yes, I named her after Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy.

So, I totally have a great excuse as to why my blog posts have been delayed this week. I recently adopted the most precious little baby chihuahua girl, named Darcy! She is about 1 year to 1 and a half years old. I adopted her from the CSRA Chihuahua Humaine Society here in Augusta, GA. Please go check them out on Facebook HERE and like their page. They are such wonderful people who love these babies so much and make sure they go to good homes. I am blessed to have been able to adopt my precious baby from such fabulous people!

Now, on to Darcy. I have always wanted a dog and have always wanted to name her Darcy after one of my favorite characters, Austen's Elizabeth Darcy. Don't hate. She is just an itty bitty little baby and I AM IN LOVE!!!

Insert several photos of the precious babe.

I LITERALLY CAN'T EVEN HANDLE HOW ADORABLE SHE IS FOR REAL I CAN'T I'M DONE NO
Ahem, anyways... I wanted to introduce my little Darcy to all of you and let you know that along with being an author, I am also a doggie mommy! I will keep you all updated with pictures and mentions of how baby girl is doing. Right now, we are doing very well and she is adjusting well to her new home and her new mommy. Don't even be surprised if a little chihuahua named Darcy gets mentioned in my next book. Like legit. It might happen.

Pinterest: Useful in Procrastination and Inspirtation

For those of you who really know me, you know that my obsession with Pinterest is a small problem. Okay, maybe a slightly larger than small, but I love it and it is amazing for so many reasons. While it does keep me from writing (unfortunate, I know), it also inspires me to keep writing. Sounds contradictory, but it's true.

For those who live in a cave and don't know what Pinterest is, it is this amazing social networking site where users can "pin" things (whatever your little heart desires) onto one's own virtual pin board with different themes (weddings, books, movies, beauty, etc.) Please go check out my Pinterest account for more details and to see what it exactly looks like.

CHECK IT YO YO

Anyway, I use Pinterest not only for my personal use (makeup ideas, wardrobe ideas, crafts, etc.), but also to find inspiration for my series. My specific board for the Forget Me Not Trilogy, is HERE and is where I can pin things that remind me of certain characters or just encourage me to keep writing. There are other authors who use Pinterest for this same reason and I LOVE to follow them. For me, it's like looking into an author's head and seeing what images and quotes inspire them to write their own stories.

So, maybe that's why I pin for my own series. To give readers a chance to see what goes through my head while I write.

Yes, Pinterest can be both a blessing and a burden. I can easily spend countless hours pinning and not write one word. But then there is a special moment where I'll read one simple pin and suddenly, inspiration comes and I'll spend hours writing. For now, I won't stop using Pinterest. It's a wonderful site and one I have dedicated lots of time (too much. Lord knows it.), but I have also gained a different sort of muse for writing. And that's a trade I'm willing to make.

Please go follow me on Pinterest and check out the Forget Me Not Trilogy board.

Also, I will be participating in the Blogger Book Fair this month! I will be hosting some fabulous ladies and hosting a giveaway. Please go check out more info HERE!

See you all next time! Have a fabulous day!

Character Interview with Paco Dyami

This post is for my beautiful sister Keri! Consider it a late birthday present. Love you girl!
I hope you all enjoy this interview with Paco Dyami! Let me know who else you would like to see interviewed in the comments below.
Me: Hello Paco! Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to talk with me today. Welcome to my blog!
Paco: Thank you.
Me: So, first things first, what do you consider home to be? This can be a place, a person, a memory, etc.
Paco: I'd have to say my ranch is my home. It's not easy to keep it up, but I wouldn't rather be anywhere else than with my tribe and my family. I love my kids more than anything.
Me: What's your greatest fear in life?
Paco: Losing my kids. They're all I've got left in this world.
Me: Have you ever been in love?
Paco: Once that I know was true love. I've been married twice, but my first marriage was merely one of convenience. My second was true love. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my wife.
Me: Who do you most admire?
Paco: My youngest son, Cole. He's been through hell, but has come out stronger. I'm proud of him.
Me: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
Paco: To be more courageous like my children.
Me: What is your favorite childhood memory?
Paco: The first time my father and mother took me to a pow wow and I learned about my tribe's history. There's nothing like hearing the legends for the first time, especially as a child.
Me: Last question. What's your favorite color?
Paco: Well, I guess I'd have to say blue. Reminds me of a sweeter, simpler time of my life, of someone who still has my heart.
Me: Well, thank you so much for answering some questions for us today!
Paco: Not a problem.
There you have it everyone, more information on Paco Dyami! If you want to know more about this character, then look out for the next installment in the Forget Me Not Trilogy, Morning Glory. There are new characters, new twists, and new turns for the characters we love! See you all next time! :)

10 Things You Shouldn't Say to a Writer. Like Ever.

Warning: My sassy level has reached an ultimate peek with this post. You have been warned.

I found this picture with the ten things one shouldn't say to a writer. And I agree with everyone. In order to properly explain and reveal to you all what most writers think of such silly things, I will reply to each phrase/question.

Hint: we don't like them...

I don't own this image. Google does.
What Writers Want to Reply With (but really shouldn't):
1. My little book? You mean my three part paranormal romance series where each novel reaches over 70,000 words? Yes. Indeed, I am still working on my "little book." Thanks for asking. Jerk.

2. Oh, yeah. You know, creating an alternate universe and trying to get the words to flow, then edit till your eyes feel like their bleeding. And then trying to find someone willing to publish it, which may take years in itself, all while being a full time student. You're right. How silly of me.

3. See #2. Jerk.

4. I'm sure your mother will be proud. And it will be a novel of the same merit as Fitzgerald...oh? Never heard of him? .... Look at your life. Look at your choices. No.

5. Yes, indeed they are. And I'm pursuing mine while you try to make your way with your...wait, what are you majoring in again? Undeclared? Sounds promising.

6. Um, yeah. Two books and counting. Move on, sir. Move on.

7. I'll think about it.... I'm done thinking. No.

8. And I have this great idea where you stop talking and walk away. Like right now. Buh-bye.

9. Or as I call it an imagination. And original thoughts. Something you may have never heard of.

10. Oh, so you have three full days to spare. Come and sit. I'll tell you everything. OR better yet...BUY THE BOOK AND READ IT YOURSELF. I mean, if you want.

There you have it, the ten things one should never, ever say to a writer. We HATE these questions (at least I do). I hope this has been a learning experience and my other fellow writers out there enjoyed it. Wednesday, I will be doing a character interview with Paco Dyami from Forget Me Not. If any of you have any specific questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Have a fabulous day!
