All I want for Xmas… and then some. :)

In the beginning of December, I received a message from Colum McKnight fromDreadfultales.com asking me to voice in on what I wanted for Xmas.

“Hey Mandy, is there any chance you’d write a quick and fun post about what you want or Christmas. I have a few authors on board and want to hear what craziness you’d have to say.”

Well, funny he would ask that, as I do have craziness to share. (There’s always enough crazy to go around in my world.)

Here’s a fun blog post about what I would ask for Santa t...

Review: 13 Drops Of Blood by James Roy Daley

13 drops of blood13 Drops Of Blood is a short story collection written by James Roy Daley and published by Books Of The Dead Press.

Gory and graphic, Daley’s writing takes the reader into his world of intense horror with the thirteen stories contained within these pages.

This collection offers something for everyone, as the author covers different themes with his stories, including horror, monsters, zombies, sci-fi/fantasy and dark humour. While every story may not appeal to all readers, 13 Drops Of Blood offers...

The Next Big (Mandy) Thing: YAMMAGEDDON!!!

I was asked by fellow Canadian authorBruce Blake to take part in the ongoing bloggery that is The Next Big Thing. It’s a chance for us to tell people about what we’ve got going on at the moment in our world of writing and then we tag five other authors to do the same. Bruce wrote about his next big thing last week and you can find that here.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of The Next Big Thing, but I love to be part of something so, of course, I said yes.

Every author involved had to an...

Once Upon An Anthocon.

It’s been a week and a day since Dickie, Daley and I made our way across the border to the land of all that was to be Anthocon. Having the three of us in the car at the same time was an unnerving experience once we got to the border, but luckily we made it across with no cavity searches. I’m sure someone in the car was upset about the lack of invasiveness at the border, but I’m not naming names. We continued our way through tiny little states, crossing through more snow than we have in Canada...

Books of the Dead Promotions – This Only Happens In The Movies

Once again, I’ve decided to take advantage of the promotion opportunity offered by Books of the Dead.

Believe me, for these prices, you can’t go wrong!

Not only is it affordable, but they have great reach on the web, Facebook and the Twitterverse.

(Aside from book promotions, they can also help you build your Twitter followers for a nominal fee.)

If you’re looking for a way to promote your new book, novella or even a short story, this is the place to do it.

Take a look at the newest ad Books of th...

An Interview Like No Other.

I had the pleasure to sit down will Jason Wayne Allen, author of Celebutante Meat Houseand fellow author in Zombie! Zombie! Brain Bang!for an interview.

What’s the result of letting him dig through my twisted mind?

This interesting yet messed-up interview about writing, Shania Twain, clone sex, Canadian housing security and much more.

He even added photos of me which feeds the ego I try so hard to keep contained.

Check it out, I can’t guarantee it won’t change your view on me, nor do I supply the...

RATATOUILL’E

On the way home from Anthocon 2012, I was sitting in the back of the car playing on my iPhone, when I came across this beauty of a submission call.

After reading it out loud to my buddies in the car, we laughed and laughed and laughed (and laughed some more).

Now, let’s not all run out and write a story for this…

Actually, NOBODY should write a story for this.

Any guesses on who STFU Publishing belongs to?

(Yes, it’s actually called Shut The F*ck Up Publishing, the name itself should give you a li...

Review: Odd Places by Guy Anthony De Marco

Surprises are nice and great surprises are even better. That’s what “Odd Places” by Guy Anthony De Marco was for me.I received his collection of short stories in my loot bag at KillerCon 4 when I attended the convention in Las Vegas. (SURPRISE!)

Odd Places was the readable I recently chose to take with me on a four-hour road trip to Toronto. Needless to say, I finished the book long before I arrived in Toronto. I love short story collections and this one did not disappoint. (GREAT SURPRISE!)

StoryTime at the Wicked Library

I was in the mood to hear my own stories this morning, while I caffeinated my face and woke up a little.

(Okay so this might be a little weird, but I don’t really care.)

I went looking for the podcast Nelson Pylesdoes, Story Time at the Wicked Library.

I was the featured author for episode #3, where he read three of my stories, Fatty, Summer Break and The Only Way.

I searched through my blog, looking for the post with the link and I realized I hadn’t written a post about it.

(In my defence, I was...
