5 Star review for Portrait in Time by Charles Schneider. An Incredible story of love, passion and greed. Time travel, as you have never read it before.

Review:
I received the book from the author for an honest review.
This was one of thee most enjoyable reads I have had read in a long time. It was sensual and passionate in its delivery: all wrapped in mystery as we explored the world of art, museums and Paris; the city that holds so many history of its own, wrapped in its own splendor and grandeur. The way that the author used the Impressionist Masters of the nineteenth century, Coubert and Degas's paintings - to write this incredible story - making it the most compelling mystery I had thoroughly enjoyed.
The way that the author described the beautiful art pieces had me stopped and do a Google search and I could appreciate the wonder of these very famous paintings through his eyes. Each line of the model depicted on the canvas, each texture and brush stroke had become part of the intriguing plot using it as proof to validate the words of the mysterious woman and the letter they had found confirming suspicions.
When a woman appears mysteriously in the dead of night in Musee d'Orsay Museum, all eyes were fixed on the the woman, Suzanne Bruante. What makes this even more sinister was that the body and the way they had found him left no clues for the gendarmes. It left more questions than answers but as you continue reading you discover the enigma perfectly balanced between the 21 century, and 1887, making this a compelling read.
All the characters within the book were strong and had a definite role to play. Each well defined: Suzanne Bruante, Nicole Bruante, Henri Bruante and Dr John Nolan. Even the douche bag Rene, played his role very well. And, I cannot fail to mention the detective in the book as well. A new up and coming detective that received her first murder case, Michele Crossier. A woman that was determined to show she was more than a pretty face but I do think this case would leave her sleepless for a very long time, haunting her even. Since all her theories were so wrong. I was almost sorry for her.
I really enjoyed the old man, Henri Bruante's character. He was the anchor in the tale, being level headed he had a good influence on Suzanne, at times. His role as art restorer perfectly interwoven making the story line even more mind boggling. Suzanne was a woman that wanted her name established in the history books. she was jealous and conceded and wanted all attention on her. Her self absorbedness, however, was her down fall. She had no problem sleeping her way to the top with no conscious thought of another person's feelings. People were there to be used - her moto in life.
Nicole was the sweetness herself, but definitely not shy. It seems being nude ran in the family...smile. Her mannerisms and easy adapting to life in the present made her a loveable character. The story became complex as they learned about Nicole's death knowing well it could change history. Suzanne was the one who could loose the most...well in her world. Running against time, the greediness of some, and the ever present police, Dr John Nolan, had a huge task on his hands, his alley, Henri coming to the rescue on a few occasions. Time traveling was complex but yet he made it very understandable for all involved. The love between the couple, that had blossomed from the moment they had met, pulled at the heart strings.
The book was extremely well written, the story flowing from one scene to the next complimenting one another. It was fast paced but very descriptive as it took you deeper into the mystery as it unfolded: wondering what the outcome will be at the end.
And I may add, I simply loved the end...but then, you need to buy the book to enjoy it just as much as I had. *smile*

A PORTRAIT IN TIME By Charles SchneiderPublished by Brighton Publishing House
Synopsis:

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY:Fiction author Charles J. Schneider“My most treasured memories of childhood involve books: riding my bicycle to the bookstore in sixth grade to buy Dickens, London, Dumas, and Poe; sitting under my favorite tree in the summertime at my grandmother’s house in Millbrook NY reading Tolkien, Lewis, Asimov, and Heinlein; and lying awake at night, the bedside lamp on, enjoying just one more chapter of Fowles, Barth, Conrad, and Verne. My love of the written word extended well beyond childhood. I received a well-rounded education with a focus on Literature, History and the Classics while studying at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts; followed by a comprehensive Liberal Arts experience at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. I discovered my love for Science during those years; and although I eventually pursued a Medical Degree from The University of Chicago rather than a writing career, I recall with nostalgia my passion for Literature and the Arts in high school and in college. At Andover, my favorite courses involved novels, poems and drama; and at Wesleyan, my electives were always literary. Shakespeare, Marlow, O’Neill, Williams, and Ibsen took the slots that were not occupied by Darwin, Watson, and Crick—and so, I graduated with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Literature in 1984.I never took a course in creative writing; but the years of medical writing and publishing, along with a continued interest in reading fiction in my spare time, eventually evolved into something that has admittedly become more than just a hobby.”Dr. Schneider is a practicing oncologist at Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants located at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center (Christiana Care Health Services Campus) in Newark, Delaware. He lives with his family in Landenberg, PA. His novels include A PORTRAIT IN TIME (a Brighton Publishing release), and THE VALE OF YEARS (contracted with Brighton Publishing for release in 2015); plus 3 Double Dragon Publishing ‘novella’ releases (WITH TOWER AND TURRETS, CROWNED; CYTHEREA; and UNDER THE FORGOTTEN OAK).

Book Tour: Monarch by Belle Whittington. #LongLiveTheQueen #Giveaway #Young Adult/New Adult cross-over trilogy with excellent reviews.

Blair Reynolds was born to rule. Worlds, that is. Destined to reign over an ancient intergalactic race, it may seem her fate is written in the stars. But she’s willing to risk it all for another chance to spend forever with her true love – even if it means traveling through time and space to the other side of the universe. As far as Ash is concerned, Blair's happily-ever-after involves him, not the mere mortal with whom she seems so infatuated. She was bequeathed to him by her father, and Ash will go to any lengths to keep Blair and her true love apart. And Ash isn’t the only one.Deep in the jungles of Brazil, where tribal drums call to Blair and her true love, other forces carry out dangerous secret plans. However, Blair has secrets of her own … secrets so lethal she dares not even remember them. Secrets so painful they could ruin everything.Because some secrets kill.

I was no longer a bystander to this story. I was the story. Every secret interwoven through the tale I’m about to tell you belongs to me. And the summer I graduated from high school was the summer everything came together in a horrible clash of good versus evil.
Packing up and leaving my small, inconsequential, southeast Texas hometown meant leaving part of myself behind. I said goodbye to the human side of me when we piled into David’s truck and drove away from our home. And I waved farewell to any hope of ever returning as I watched our home slip into the shades of night.
Everything had been turned upside down, and deciding what was good and what was evil was like looking through sunglasses at night. It all washed together in a murky blend of darkness, shadows, and secrets.
My biggest secret of all was one for which I had no answer: which one was I – good or evil? I stuffed that secret deep behind my ribs and swallowed it down.
Some secrets are best kept in the darkness away from prying eyes and those who would seek to face them head-on. Some secrets kill.

Pre-Order Now: Interviewing Wade by K D Grace, writing as Grace Marshall. The Executive Decisions Trilogy may be over, but the story continues.
Coming 21st March!

Blurb:
The Executive Decisions Trilogy may be over, but the story continues. Intrepid reporter, Carla Flannery, wants to interview Wade Crittenden, the secretive creative genius behind Pneuma Inc. But when, against all odds, Wade actually agrees to the interview, Carla suspects ulterior motives.
Carla has made a lot of enemies in her work and when Wade discovers she’s being stalked, he agrees to the interview to keep her close and safe. As the situation turns deadly, lives and hearts are on the line, and the interview reveals far more about both than either ever expected.

Excerpt:
Carla nodded to the chair opposite her and Wade sat down cautiously. She offered a dry smile and spoke around a mouthful of toast. ‘Chair’s not booby-trapped, food’s not poisoned. My security system’s not that good.’
When he made no reply but savoured a forkful of eggs, she joined him in devouring the feast, satisfied that after the first bite, he shovelled it in with as much relish and lack of delicate table manners as she did. With her, eating was always done in a hurry to get on with what was always way more work than she had time for, unless she was settling in for a meal with her father. She suspected he cooked for her especially for that reason. And as she watched Wade stuff half a slice of toast into his mouth in one go, she figured he was probably the same, with no one to make sure he got a good meal from time to time. Though possibly Ellis invited him over occasionally, or maybe Harris Walker and his new wife, Stacie Emerson. Apparently her culinary skills were spoken about in hush tones. Strange, but it felt good to be able to offer something to Wade, even if the idiot did show up at three in the morning
‘Good,’ he said, at last, covering his full mouth with the paper towel she’d given him in lieu of the napkins she didn’t have.
‘Thanks. You think this is good, you should see me make Pop Tarts.
‘I like Pop Tarts,’ he said.
‘The secret is,’ she leaned across the table, ‘you’ve got to get the toaster set just right. And then afterwards,’ he leaned closer with wrapped attention, ‘afterwards I put butter on ‘em and stick ‘em in the microwave until it melts.’
Wade’s eyes were huge and very green in the kitchen lighting. He looked dead serious, as though she had just given him her secret for cold fusion. ‘I never thought about melting the butter on them in the microwave,’ he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. ‘But I find that I do like mine so that the little pastry edges are just beginning to get almost too brown.’
Christ! Were they actually talking about Pop Tarts? She laughed. ‘I like ‘em almost burnt, but I know that’s a matter of personal taste. My Dad likes his just barely warm.’He lowered his head and went back to shovelling eggs.
She popped the last of her bacon into her mouth and spoke around it. ‘So tell me, is Fort Flannery as unassailable as my father assured me, or are we in need of an upgrade?’He drained his glass of orange juice and pushed back from the table. ‘Your father did a good job. I didn’t have to do hardly anything.’
‘He’ll be glad to hear that,’ she said. ‘Sorry you had to waste your valuable time in the wee hours. I know how busy you are.’
‘Yes, well, it was on my mind. If you’ll let me see your Android, I’ll give it a little upgrade too.’
‘Will I be able to watch Russian porn on it?’ she asked.
‘Japanese and Chinese porn as well, if you like.’ There was that quirk of a smile that she really would love to eat right off his face.
‘And I’ll assume you’ve given it a test-drive.’
To her delight, the smile didn’t disappear, even though the blush was hot on those chiselled cheeks. ‘I’m my own best guinea pig.’
‘Wade Crittenden, that borders on too much information, but in the interest of consumer protection and all, I thank you.’ The blush grew, but the smile stayed put as she offered him a salute and went into her bedroom to get the device.
She returned to find that he’d shed his hoodie and was filling the sink with soapy water, his broad back mantling the counter like a giant bird of prey. For a second her stomach bottomed at the sight of Wade Crittenden doing dishes at her sink. She stood, Android crushed to her chest, feeling flushed and slightly off-balance. His t-shirt was a loose fit, misshapen and short in the back from too many washings for something that should have migrated to the rag drawer some time ago, and when he reached across the sink to add still more soap, the shirt rode up to reveal the slim line of his back and the muscles where his hips joined his torso just above the swell of his buttocks. The baggy jeans gave enough of an intimation of that swelling to leave Carla breathless and hot enough to want to throw off her own hoodie and splash herself with the soapy water in which he was nearly elbow-deep.
As though he sensed her watching, he turned, slopped water down the front of his shirt and onto his jeans and uttered a surprised curse.
Without thinking she rushed to his side, dropping the device on the table. ‘You don’t have to do that,’ she managed, in a breathless gasp. ‘Sometimes I go for weeks without ever washing so much as a coffee cup.’ She stretched around him, grabbed for a dish towel and offered it to him instead of patting him dry herself, which was what she really wanted to do.
He reached for the towel, holding her gaze. ‘You cook for me, I do the clean-up for you. Fair’s fair.’ His hand slid into the cloth and around her fingers as he drew it to his chest. His breath caught, his lips parted as though to speak, and God help her, she couldn’t resist, she leaned into him on tippy-toe and planted a kiss firmly on his mouth. She only meant for it to be a friendly peck, a way of saying thanks for checking up on her and for doing the dishes, but his other hand, covered with soapy water, swooped in and grabbed the front of her hoodie reeling her to him. Then he curled his fingers in the tangle of her wild hair and cradled the back of her head, pulling her still further up on her toes. ‘Oh God,’ he whispered, his tongue darting deep, his lips, soft and hard and bruising all at the same time, meeting hers in a clash of wills and a heroic effort to get closer and deeper. ‘Oh God, Carla, why did you do that,’ he gasped against her mouth.
‘Just being friendly,’ she managed, before the tongue sparring got serious. He gave the towel a toss and yanked down the zipper of her hoodie, shoving it off onto the floor, his hands skimming her breasts in his efforts, thumbs lingering to rake her nipples that were already painful in their peaking. His jeans might have been loose, but they were not loose enough to disguise his erection, and he didn’t seem to care. Both hands slid to cup her bottom and he lifted her, settling her onto the kitchen table, pushing her legs apart with his knees and moving in between her thighs as she went to work on his fly.
‘I have lots of friends,’ he breathed. ‘None of them do that to me.’
‘How about this,’ she said biting his lower lip and sliding her hand down inside his boxers. ‘Do they do this?’
‘No,’ he returned the nip. ‘Never, none of them.’ For a second he faltered. ‘Carla, I –’
‘Shut up, Wade. I don’t wanna hear it.’ This time she bit his tongue before she took his hand and guided it down into her baggy sweat bottoms and into her own boxers.

Release day Blitz: Time out, Valentine by Melinda Dozier. “Opposites Attract,” can ring true.

Time Out, Valentine by Melinda Dozier Genre: Contemporary RomanceRelease Date: January 21, 2015

Lexi’s life is one big dump. Or so she thinks. To keep her mind off her latest breakup, she stays busy with work. It’s no big deal, since writing for Time Out Portland Magazine is a blast…except for the one small snag – Grant Reeds.
Grant, a shy but sexy computer geek, is new to Time Out, working as the Networking Director for the online magazine. Even though Lexi thinks he doesn't notice her, he sure as hell does. The owners have a plan for their upcoming Valentine’s Special, pairing up the two to explore romantic date ideas around the city.
Soon, Lexi and Grant learn that the old adage, “Opposites Attract,” can ring true.

Grant sipped his beer and surveyed the room around them—anywhere but at the siren next to him, with her fancy drink, an umbrella hanging off the side. Overhead lights strobed the room, gleaming in all directions. The DJ announced a new song and a new crowd rushed to the dance floor, leaving them more alone in the back of the room. Thank God.
It was stifling hot. He tugged his collar from his neck and rolled the sleeves of his white button-up. His glasses slid down his nose, forcing him to take them off and put them in his shirt pocket.
Luckily in that part of the room, the music wasn't so loud that they had to scream to converse. He only raised his voice a fraction to ask her the question he’d been wondering since they set foot in the place. “So, you think this is romantic enough for a Valentine's date?"
She batted her long lashes in his direction and smirked. “There’s low lights.”
“Yeah and loud music, people all around.” To help prove his point, someone bumped him in the back, pushing him closer to Lexi. His hand circled her waist and rested on her hip.
She sipped the drink, moving the umbrella with her other hand, then licked her lips. “It’s the place to be. All trendy couples find their way here.” She cocked her head. “What would make it more romantic? Kissing?”
A slow smile formed and he faced her. Not a bad idea. “Actually, yeah.” He placed his bottle on the table behind them, cracked his knuckles and stretched his neck.
She laughed nervously, putting her weight on another sexy as hell foot. “What? You’re gonna kiss me? For real?”
“We need romance.” He grabbed her cup and put it next to his bottle. His gaze dropped to her mouth.
“You kissing me won’t—”
He placed his thumb on her lips. “Shhh. Stop talking so we can be romantic.”

During the one-year program there is more than 200 hours of diverse therapy for children and their families run by clinical professionals, and offering a unique program including:

Interview with Suzanne Carroll, author of Starcrossed. What lengths would you go to, to find the love you lost? The Giveaway is still running, so enter and win your very own signed book.

Author’s Interview Questions1. Where did the idea come from for the book? Originally, it was a short story for a writing contest and the contest theme was lost and found. So I was thinking along those lines, and I started wondering how far someone would go to find a lost love. Then the idea of using the Pegasus pendant came to me while I was on holiday in New Zealand. I’d been sketching out story ideas inbetween sight-seeing, and one day we were driving along a country road in the South Island, and we passed a sign that had Pegasus on it (I think it was advertising a removal company) and it just came to me – Georgia would have a Pegasus pendant, and that would be the key, the missing piece, that would bring her and Tom back together.
2. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?Hm, I really don’t know, I didn’t imagine any actors when I wrote it.
I took the liberty to add my actors: Jennifer Lawrence as the young Georgia

And the young Jonny Depp as Tom.

3. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? What lengths would you go to, to find the love you lost?
4. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?A couple of weeks. That’s when it was a short story. When I expanded it two years later, it took several weeks more.
5. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?I really don’t know!
6. Who or What inspired you to write this book?Nothing specific, I’m afraid. Although the scene in the florist shop had been in my head for a long time (like, several years) and it seemed to fit perfectly in this story, so in some ways, once I had the basic idea for the story, I started with that scene and sort of worked backwards.
7. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? There’s quite a bit of suspense – a lot of “will they, won’t they find each other”. And Tom’s way of finding Georgia is quite unique.

8. In general do you like to talk about you writing and published books or are you very close-lip about it? If no why?I’m quite shy, and don’t generally talk about my writing unless I’m asked. But when someone does ask, I’m very happy to talk about it J
9. What book/s are you currently writing and what is it about?I’m working on a new novel. It’s set in Australia, where I live, and it has some romance, some mystery and a lot of humour.
11. How did/do you teach yourself to write?I didn’t. When I was seven I wrote my first story and I enjoyed it so much I just kept going. I’ve written many stories, on and off, over the years since then. But writing is like anything, the more you do it, the more you’ll improve and the better you’ll get.
12. What aspect of the craft do you think is the most difficult to learn?I don’t know. It would be different for everyone. Sometimes it’s hard to give a description of a place, or an object, without going into too much detail. It’s important the reader knows what the place looks like, and that they get the right feel for it, but too many little details can detract from the story, so it’s a fine balance. That’s something I always try to be aware of – giving enough detail, but not too much.
13. What has been the most encouraging comment someone has made about your writing?Someone once wrote a review of my first novel, Over The Edge, and said she was so engrossed, she’d kept reading it even while she was brushing her teeth!
14. What is the best and/ or worst part of being a writer?Best part: creating new scenarios and characters.Worst part: the time it can take away from being with family and friends.
15. Any advice for struggling writers?Keep at it! There are so many more options for new writers these days.
16. What is your favorite genre to read or write?Hm… I like humour, and mysteries.
17. Favorite author?I don’t know if I can pick one. I like Ben Elton and Douglas Adams. Agatha Christie. Sophie Kinsella. Philippa Gregory.
18. Do you have a favorite spot to read and write? I’ll read anywhere. Writing is usually either at the desk in my room, or at the dining room table.
19. What did you do before you became a writer?I worked part-time in an office and still do.
20. Was it a life long dream or triggered recently?Life long dream. Since I was seven.
21. What do you like to do when not writing? When I’m not writing I like being with my family. And reading. I’m getting into photography. And I enjoy patchwork when I get the time.
22. Do you have a bucket/ to-do list and would you share at least two things on it?I wouldn’t say I have a bucket list, but one day I’d like to travel on the Orient Express. And I’d love to see the Northern Lights one day.

23. Most daring thing or experience you have done you would like to share?I used to abseil a bit, and one time my husband and I abseiled down the cliffs at North Head, off Sydney Harbour. Once we got to the bottom, we had to climb up the cliffs to get back to the top and that was terrifying! There were just these tiny ledges to climb along, and up, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared. It was the best feeling to clamber back over the top and onto flat land again.
24. This or that questions: · Coffee or Tea – neither (I’m a hot chocolate girl)· Sweet or savory – savory· Home make meal or takeouts – home meals· Winter or summer – probably winter. No wait, summer. No, sorry, winter. I don’t know. Both.· Night-owl or Early-Bird – night owl· Telephone or visits – visits· Which social network do you prefer? – Can’t really say. I use Twitter and Facebook, but not a lot.· Blogger or website? - website· What does your family say about your career? Supportive or Clueless - supportive
And FinallyMoto/wisdom in life you live by. Um, I don’t really have one. I just try to take things as they come J
