Greenwoman Magazine Tour and Review

When Sage asked me if I would like to be part of the tour of this Magazine, Greenwoman I jumped at the chance, without really thinking about it. But once I received my copy and pages through the magazine it immediately struck me. This is different.
It was different than the usual reviewing of specific genre books. For a specific age or gender. You know where you sit down, make yourself comfortable and read a good well written story. Forgetting the world around you and just relax into the pages becoming part of an imaginary world.
The first question that came to mind was what would I say about the magazine since it is diverse in its delivery.
It is for a different audience, combining different styles since it has a variety of authors within. So here is my review of this new and exciting magazine. A real coffee table magazine that you could place in a favorite spot, easily reached to quickly read a interesting article or two. Keeping it close for later references. Or an interesting topic to start a conversation with granddad, dad or who ever loves gardening.

Reviews:
"I think this magazine will be one of the best gifts 2011 has given humanity and I’m absolutely serious about this. I hope you will check it out. When I did that, I clicked immediately on the subscription button and signed myself up. Now for those of you who know me, you will know this is significant because I have a very strict rule about not purchasing anything over the internet." —Tammi Hartung, author of Homegrown Herbs

“. . . I realized that this was a periodical loathe to box itself in or stoop to cliché. The topics would be familiar but the twists and turns would be unique because the human experience is unique."—Grace Peterson, "Gardening with Grace" blog
"Greenwoman is a fresh and hip magazine bringing the spirit of gardening to the forefront . . . It is unlike any other magazine I have read."—Elise Bowan
“Greenwoman filled the gap in my life that I didn't know existed: a magazine that connected all my interests: the earth, gardening, and a feminine perspective. I couldn't believe my luck upon discovering it! Greenwoman will now replace some of my subscriptions that were only gardening, that ignored earth issues...Viva Greenwoman. —Elisabeth Kinsey, Greenwoman's Sex in the Garden columnist.

My 5 Star Review

First off I must say the cover got my attention from the moment I downloaded it. It was informative but yet classic in its deliverance. Leaving you with promises of tranquility and quiet time.
As you turn the page you are met with the most adorable little face in color that immediately steels your heart and you know you are hooked.
With a very inspiring slogan of the advertiser
"Creating places where people meet to grow"
A double meaning in its choice of words that leaves you with more than just information about their services.
The Editor's letter was informative but also a nice introduction to the mother and daughter team, Sandra and Zora. Relaxed and peaceful as they relay to you their story.
The next pages was filled with the contributors to the articles. With black and white close ups making it real and authentic.
All the articles is centered around nature. The beautiful, the ugly, the lessons learned. Each with a different messages but yet forming a complete picture of nature in all its splendor.
Of all the articles I must say "Slow Ride by Don Murphy" stood out the most. His comparison between seed and life really touched me. Urging you on to experience life, to love, to learn, to experience life in all its beauty. To be willing to be put in the soil and watered so that your fruit can come forth.
A gentle encouragement to allow seed to grow, in its season and live life to the fullest.
This was followed by more great article surrounding hens, seasons and to be grateful for your freedom.
I loved the pencil illustrations all in black and white highlighting the classic style through out the magazine. Keeping it very laid back, elegant with a touch of class.
Different from the popular main stream magazines that fills the shelves.
Historical essays like "Lady in waiting" followed with poetry and more illustrations. Keeping the pages entertaining and interesting.
Informative in a storytelling way that connects with the author of the specific piece.
I thought the quiz that follows about The Rockstars of Biology was amusing, testing your knowledge. I will not say how many I could recognize though.
Another article that stood out was the Interview with Amy Stewart. With her artwork displayed through out the pages. It is always good to learn about some one else, their mistakes, their fears but also what makes them tick, giving them the edge to move forward.
I loved the first chapter of the Historical story "Take to the Hills by Marquerite Lyon" written in 1942.
Descriptive, well written as you became part of the fight of survival as a fire broke out on the farm. Everyone scrambling around to safe things. With limited water, no hose, scorched hands and making several back fires while hoping to safe at least the livestock and house. You feel the desperation, the freight of this group of people fighting against a enemy so much bigger in its ferocity, determined to destroy years of hard work. That ends with being part of the birth of a new lamb that heralds in the new season of hope.
More articles followed as you are introduced  to a gardeners life, to know more about gardening, relationships and yes a lesson in passion and lust as you learn about the seduction of the bulp and the earth creating a new life in its lust filled encounter.
More advertisements followed keeping the classic rustic feeling through out. Introducing you to new released books all about landscaping, gardens and food.
This is a magazine that will confront the reader with comforts, quickly buying something instead of making something from the beginning. Presenting it with flair.
With helpful tips and information this is a must for every keen gardener, artful, tasteful with a touch of class.
A definite must to have on the coffee table to enjoy with a nice cup of your favorite coffee or tea.

Excerpt:He stared at her, his expression wary. “And I’m thrilled you’re so into evolution, variation, and moving toward different things. I…er…just wondered, do you have a problem with saliva?”“Saliva? What the hell are you talking about?”He smiled. Not slow and lazy, not sweet and gentle, but the wolf smile she’d seen at the bar. “You admitted a thing with water right away. So what I’m hearing is no, I love saliva. Go ahead and slap me, and…maybe I’ll stop.” He grabbed her, yanked her up, and took her lips with his.Ray tried for gentle and slow, but the moment his lips locked onto hers it felt like he had to make this the kiss of a lifetime or she’d slip through his fingers and disappear. She’d either run screaming from yet another bully who took advantage of a vulnerable state, or she’d fall through the cracks of the justice system and out of his reach. From his mouth to hers, he yearned to dive in fast and hard, plundering with his tongue until she opened more than her heart to him by confiding an intense trauma. He wanted the supple and beautiful body rolled over him as well.He deepened the kiss, and his heartbeat pounded faster and faster as the tension left her shoulders. She melted into him, soft and sweetly yielding to his aggressive hardness, and she began kissing him back. His careful exploration, the tip of tongue easing along the seams of her mouth, forced his lust into an easy, steady climb as lips meshed, escalating on the roller coaster scale to maybe a five, a first-time kiss like when a boy walks a girl to her door.Forget that. It was no-hold-back time. He was too into the taste and feel of this woman to strive for less, and he had to bring her over the edge with him. Plunge down and down into the world-is-about-to-end type kiss. A kiss that’d stay with her, marking her as his own.

What Cassi thought was a simple obsession with clean water has taken over her life. When she orders a distiller online to replace the one smashed by her abusive boyfriend, she gets more than she bargained for.
Enter a man with a badge, hunting a terrorist, and Cassi is his number one suspect. Not only is she struggling with her fixation on pure H2O, she has to prove she’s not the one he’s looking for—only she kind of wishes she was. Before she knows it, Cassi is in over her head.

Justice.

Ray had everything, until a random crime ends badly and he’s left to hold to his grief or make changes in his life. Charming his way into people’s personal business—slapping on the cuffs as needed—gives him reason to get up in the morning. When he falls headfirst into another chance at love, he must take the plunge without hesitation or risk losing more than his heart.
As the pair join hands, sparks fly as well as bullets, leaving Cassi and Ray to wonder if the universe could right itself. Will the past reach out and drown their chance for happiness?

Saved from a traumatic past and successful in her present as a home care nurse, Josselyn Adler’s dream of home ownership in the idyllic town of Unity are dashed to pieces when Dr Ben Parnell, a cancer specialist, shows up on her doorstep claiming to be the rightful owner of the house—and Ben has a will to prove it!  To Josselyn, the house represents a new start in her life. With a stable home, hopefully a much wanted family wouldn’t be far behind.
After a near career-ending allegation is made, Ben has returned home to lick his wounds. But now he must prove Josselyn’s claim to be a fake, that she used her position as a live-in nurse to his sick father to ingratiate herself into his good graces. But as he gets to know her, he can tell by her shy, often standoffish behavior, that Josselyn is a woman who has been deeply hurt in her past. Although he is attracted to the dark haired beauty that has invaded his life, he is still suspicious of her true motives and her past involvement with his father.
Excerpt:When she arrived at the foot of the stairs, the front door rattled. Fear, cold and stark, rose up in her throat and choked her as she heard the lock snap and watched, rooted to the floor, the creaky old door jiggle in its frame. The anticipation mingled with fright, produced a potent, sick feeling churning inside her like the bad horror movie she’d recently viewed on late-night cable television.
After what seemed an eternity, the door flung open. The first thought entering her brain was a ghost had entered her home. A younger, blonder visage of Morgan stood in the threshold. Before she could utter his name, a second, more coherent thought followed; a ghost wouldn’t use a key.
The man in the doorway took one step inside and stopped abruptly, clenched his jaw, and stared. The familiar stranger invading her new home could only be one person.
“My goodness, you’re Ben! You’re Morgan’s son!” she exclaimed.
“Well, we know who I am. Now who the hell are you, and why are you trespassing in my house?”
“Your house?” she asked with disbelief. “This is my home. Morgan gave it to me!”
“I don’t know who you are, lady, but I suggest you get a move on it. I’ll give you five minutes before I call the police.” He pointed to his platinum-cased wristwatch for emphasis.
“Don’t bother waiting.” She reached into her handbag and removed her cell phone. With shaking fingers, she punched in 911.
The line connected after the second ring. “911, what is your emergency?” asked the female dispatcher.
“My name is Josselyn Adler. I’m the new owner of 22 Little Pine Road. A man has let himself into my home and is now threatening me.” Although she was quaking on the inside, she strove to keep her voice and demeanor strong and confident.
“I have an officer on the way, Ms. Adler. Would you like to stay on the line with me until he arrives?” she offered.
“No, thank you. I’ll be fine,” she assured her.
As she disconnected her phone, Ben’s gaze burned into her. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of showing any fear. While growing up, she had dealt with her share of tormentors. One forty-year-old, blond-haired bully was not going to intimidate her or drive her from a home that was rightfully hers.
“Very nice performance,” he said snidely.
“Excuse me?” She furrowed her brow and made eye contact. Ben Parnell had his father’s glacial, blue eyes.
“Any moment one of Unity’s finest will be arriving to play knight in shining armor and save the poor maiden from the big, bad wolf.”
Before she could utter a word in reply, a black patrol car came to a screeching halt on the street. An officer threw open the car door and made long, quick strides to the house. His uniform and Unity Police Department baseball cap matched the color of his car.
A lump formed in her throat. As she was growing up, a police car in front of the house and an officer at the door meant her father was in some sort of trouble yet again.
“Good evening, Miss. I’m Officer Smith.” He looked to Ben. “It’s certainly been a long time since you’ve been around, Ben.” Not waiting for an answer from him, he turned his attention back to Josselyn. “What seems to be the problem tonight?”
He knew Ben by his first name. They looked to be about the same age, and in this small town, it was likely they knew each other growing up. Although Officer Smith seemed friendly enough, would he side with the hometown boy rather than with the stranger girl?
“This is my house. Morgan Parnell left it to me in his will. Now he...” She paused and pointed at Ben. “He thinks it’s his house.”
“I have a will, too,” Ben loudly interrupted. “And mine is legitimate!”
His deep voice vibrated through her, causing her head to ache. Flustered, she pulled an envelope from her handbag. Morgan’s attorney gave to her a copy of the will a few days earlier. She handed it to Officer Smith. To her dismay, Ben also produced a document from a briefcase.
This is very bad.
She hoped Ben had been bluffing.

A Dead Game by Mira West 5 Star Review and Interview

Introducing Mira West's first full-length Novel, A Published Author of Children Books. Title: A Dead GameAuthor: Mire WestGenre: Suspense RomancePages: 295Published by Dog Ear Publishing
Buy LinksAmazon
BLURB

There is an illusion of glamour in the casino—a façade in which a person knows nothing but what they see. A Dead Game is based on true events of my experience in the business. It revolves around the kingpin of a drug cartel who was covertly operating from within the greedy confines, until a woman changed everything. A spellbinding romantic suspense that will captivate both men and women.

BIO

Mira West, born a Texan in 1957, began her diverse life showing and training Arabian horses (to the winners circle) at her ranch in Missoula, Montana. However, her passion for writing never stopped, and she presented her first book at the Children’s Book Writers Conference in San Francisco in 1987. An author of two previously published children’s books, she embarked on her first full-length novel, A Dead Game, a story which brings to light her extraordinary experience in the casino business. She is a member of Romance Writers of America andThe International Women’s Writing Guild.

ANSWERS TO INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1.      The idea of writing the novel originated from my passion to write and the unique setting of working in a casino as a woman in the 80’s, which was more like prey to the wolves of the trade.
2.      The genre: Romantic Suspense
3.  The three main characters to be played by actors:                  Villain – Ben Affleck                   Hero – Matt Damon                   Heroine – Isla Fisher
4.      Dealing blackjack at the Paradise Palace becomes a death defying challenge after falling for a man known, in his world, as Warlord and Kingpin.
5.      Published by Dog Ear Publishing
6.      The first draft took over two years to compile and write.
7.      This novel is an original story, incomparable to anything I’ve read so far. Although, here is an excerpt from a recent review: “The author has laced the book with the pitch-black, twisted humor as you would see in Quinton Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. I’ve referenced a lot of movies in this review, because that’s what the book reminds me of. I literally pictured it in my head playing out as scenes in a movie.”
8.      Writing this novel was inspired by the bizarre people, stories and events I encountered during my sixteen years of experience in the casino business.                   Continue below.9.      The book features stories of players who had won or lost, yet left a lasting impression. It begins with a vagrant who turned his social security check into two million dollars. The people, jargon as well as the events in the book are real. It also includes a Glossary of Terms used in the casino—found at the back of the book.

   My 5 Star Review
The execution of the intriguing plot kept you glued to the pages in this suspense filled romance. Each character clearly defined by their actions and the people they mixed with by choice.I must say out of all the characters in the book I admired Dr. Jerome Jensen the most. He was unwavering in his actions, knew what needed to be done. Not afraid of taking risks all while there was a death sentence hanging over his head. Knowing that he had nothing to loose as he risk every thing to those he values the most.
Jasmine (Jaz) Woods found herself in the middle of a love triangle being drawn to two men so opposite from each other in character, but proclaiming that they loved her. Both doing things to impress her but also pushing her away. And because of past mistakes and a failed marriage she had doubts as to which path to take. Protecting her children the best she could.
But life always has a way of working out and in this case, past sins of Frank Pazzarelli caught up with him and he was taken out of the race. This Kingpin was so wrapped up in his own deals and schemes that he lost sight of the most valuable asset, love. Although he tried to grab it his constant failures, making the wrong decisions cost him everything.
The fast paced, well thought out plot revealing the shady side of Casino life. As people plotted and schemed because of greed, power and lust. Getting in depth knowledge into people's minds, in their search for the ultimate fast buck. The never ending roads winding down in greater debauchery as the story unfolds page after page of this fast paced book.
A first adult novel for the author. Hopefully not the last out of her pen.
Overall a good and entertaining story with interesting characters that center around the Casino. Ending superbly in a sudden good twist, which makes it a beautiful love story till the very end.

A piano, with eighty-eight keys...

AuthorCatherine Lavender

My 4 Star Review

The Author, Catherine Lavender has done a wonderful work in this entertaining murder romance story. Filled with characters that all had reasons to murder the victim Jason Rowe.
The whole plot evolved around Bright Horizon, home for troubled kids but with lots of potential. Helping the children furthering their careers and opportunities in life. Woven with greed, lust, affairs, doubt and their own ambition to enhance themselves to the end. But as we all know pride always comes before the fall.
The one true character in this book was Leah who found herself mixed in all of the confusion trying to find the murderer of her murdered lover. The daughter of a minister whose teaching kept her almost on the straight and narrow. Finding her self in a affair with a man that was not honest with her. Learning about his family, doing some investigating of her own into Jason's death. Discover secrets as she went along. Hated almost by every woman in the book.
While she dreams of becoming a pianist. Taking matters in her own hands to make her dream come true. Her strong will filled spirit refuse to lay down but fight for what is hers, finding her solace in music as it lifts her from her circumstances into a new life.
The supporting character of Mrs. Jacobi, elderly neighbor and retired piano teacher who had a profound take on her life sets her on her course to meet a man Austin while in search for her own dreams.
The many characters involved with their own stories, some living in lies, others with deceit was nicely illustrated through out the book. As the plot thickens and more people got hurt, were blackmailed or threatened.
A nice build up to this good read.

His debut novel, Against My Will, was published in September, 2012. He also writes a blog for the Huffington Post.

My 5 Star ReviewThe book begins and ends with a wedding. But in between the two ceremonies lives were lived filled with trails, growth and maturity.I truly enjoyed this book as it captivated you and held your attention through out the struggles of two women as well as several others. Mixed together to give you a broad perspective of the issue at hand. So sincere and heart warming as you get to know them in their daily lives. Filled with love and loving care for every one around them.Rose and Danielle, grandmother and granddaughter sharing similar experiences but under different times.Danielle is a young Jewish woman, just passed the Bar exam of New York. Standing on her own legs but still under the thump of her father who thought he knew best. Forcing her into marriage with Jacob, a man she never loved. Raping her at the end and she left for Los Angeles. Rebuilding her life one day at a time. Rose which as a young girl of six ended up in the concentration camp in Austria, separated from her family and raped by the commandant of the camp. Irene a young woman who took her under her wing but at the end was parted when her role in feeding the Jewish people was discovered. Parting them for life but never out of mind.Irene's impact into Rose life vibrating throughout her life time pouring over Danielle's live in a continuous thread. Leaving us with two quotes and a song I felt to add in my review."Save a life. Seed a generation""Give while your hands are warm"
The story is set in three parts so that you could get a clear picture of every woman involved as time passed. Never boring you with to much information as told in a continuous flowing story. Well written with a important message until the end. Filled with compassion and a sincere heart, not over dramatize it that it fills you with bitterness, but rather with empathy for all characters involved. The story begins with Danielle, a strong woman that could take care of herself but at the end had to bow her knee at her father's wants, following traditions but at the end she had to take the ultimate step and walk away from an emotional abusive marriage that ends with a rape. Getting on a train that would set her life in a new direction and meeting Cliff Warner. Compassionate and much in love with Danielle. As she grow through her To do List we see how she made way for herself, making the decisions to change everything about her in a good way. Living on her own, getting a pet, her own battles against weight issues and falling in love with this sweet man, Cliff. Her healing so swift that when Julia Ribbons marital rape file was handed over to her, she could handle it with tenacity as she fight for this woman that was willing to go through all the public scrutiny and a counselor steam rolling over Danielle standing up for what is right and win the case. The detailed court case taking you into the heart of the courtroom to experience the anguish and sweet victory. But what stood out the most was the meeting with Irene at the age of 100 saying thank you for her unselfish attempts to safe her Nana, receiving the biggest gift that was a silver thread throughout this wonderful book.A truly heart felt book I can recommend to all Woman's Fiction Readers.

Blurb
Cat Edwards has spent her life playing the wallflower in an effort to escape the repressive weight of her mother’s tarnished name. Dragged to a bar by her best friend in an effort to forget a broken heart, the shy bookworm is determined to be someone else for the night, but quickly gets in over her head. She discovers chivalry isn’t dead after all when a mysterious stranger comes to her rescue. He’s wearing black leather and a mischievous smile that promises to be exactly what she needs.

When his terminally ill father suffers a setback, Michael Brant returns to the town he swore ten years ago he’d never return to. He’s come back this time determined to make peace with the past, but being home brings up memories he doesn’t want to remember anymore. His first night in town, he’s captured by a damsel in distress. Cat’s beauty is made all the more alluring when he realizes she has no idea who he is. He can’t resist spending a single night in her arms. With her, he’s only a man, disconnected from his family’s name and the past that haunts him here.

As the town erupts with the news of his return, Michael’s dark past comes back to haunt him, putting Cat in danger. Someone is threatening her life and the life of her family. Desperate to keep history from repeating itself, Michael offers her his family’s name in order to keep her safe. When the lie spirals beyond their control, can they stop their hearts from becoming entangled as well?

Excerpt #1:“Follow my lead.” His voice flowed against her ear, rich and smooth and darkly sensual. The kind of voice she could well imagine whispering to her in the dark. It added to the stubble prickling her cheek and, for a moment, her mind twisted off in another direction, filling with naughty fantasies. Suddenly she was dying to see the face behind the voice.
Louder he said, “Miss me?”
Velvet soft lips brushed her earlobe as he spoke, combined with the deep, sensual quality of his voice and sent delicious shivers slipping down her spine. For a moment, Cat forgot to breathe, forgot what in the world she was supposed to be doing. Somewhere through the haze that took over her mind, his meaning finally occurred to her. Her body went limp with relief. She had the sudden urge to turn and hug the man. Chivalry hadn’t died with King Arthur after all.
“You’re late.” Playing her part, she straightened on her stool and reached back to twine her fingers with his. Soft, thick fingers that filled her overheated mind with visions of them sliding over her skin.
The clod’s hand finally released her thigh, and Cat swallowed a sigh of relief then spun to face her savior. “You were supposed to be here...”
Her train of thought derailed as she came face to face with the center of a broad chest. A thickly muscled chest barely contained by the black T-shirt covering it. Her heart skipped several beats as she followed the muscles upward, past even wider shoulders, until her gaze collided with a pair of dark brown eyes that made her breath catch.
Oh boy. She clamped her mouth shut and swallowed hard. A five o’clock shadow covered a strong, square jaw, giving him a rough and rugged edge. His thick, almost black, hair licked at the collar of his worn leather jacket, just long enough to be rebellious, and tousled by the wind. Her fingers itched to reach up and slide through his hair to see if it felt as soft as it seemed.
“Forgive me.” As he bent down to her eye level, his eyes burned into hers, a hidden meaning in the dark depths she couldn’t quite grasp. She couldn’t concentrate much past the fact his face was now a scant inch from hers. His soft, warm breath fanned her lips, and her gaze zeroed in on the mouth that had sent delicious sensations thrumming through her body barely a minute ago.
Before she could ponder what on earth he meant or come up with a proper response, he took their charade a step further.
He kissed her.

BlurbUnable to make it home in a snowstorm, Ellie seeks shelter at an old farmhouse. When the owner’s grandson shows up and happens to be the man she had given the brush off to twice, it takes all they have not to kill each other during the snowed-in days that follow.
The last thing Ellie plans on is the relationship outlasting the storm. Bix’s persistence at a relationship and attempts to help her at her job with his computer skills proves to be more than Ellie can continue to push away. She finds herself where she never wanted to be after losing her fiancé a year ago. In love again.
When Ellie’s twin sister shows up and puts all their lives at risk, they must now weather a different kind of storm together.

Excerpt“You’re home?” He walked over admiring her hair then gave her a kiss as he ran his fingers through her hair. “What made you go dark?”
“I just felt like a change. You like it?”
“I do.” He kissed her again and weaved his fingers through her hair and to the back of her head.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and began kissing him hard. Getting more aggressive in her kisses, she began pushing him backwards until he was against the wall.
“What got into you, babe?”
“I just missed you.” She kissed his neck then pulled at his shirt, sending buttons flying. Her hands stroked his chest and went down to his belt buckle.
He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall as she kissed down his chest. She slid his jeans down, but left his boxers on. Kissing her way back up his chest, she placed her hand at his crotch. He was already getting aroused. “Nice,” she said, giving him a squeeze. Kissing him harder, she began rubbing her hips against him.
“Let’s get down to business, stud.”
His eyes sprang open and he held her by the shoulders, then looked into her eyes. They were the same shade of blue. The same deep blue outline. He looked from one to the other, then saw it. A green fleck that was never there before.
“You’re not Ellie.”
“Dammit.” Her hand still stroked his chest. “You’re quicker than Tony was.”
He pushed her back and quickly pulled his jeans up. “Ellie never mentioned being a twin.”
“It’s no wonder. I’d want to keep you to myself, too.” Again she leaned into him and tried to place her hand on his crotch. He grabbed her hand before she was successful.
“Stop it.”
“Come on. What are you? A choir boy?”
He moved away from the wall so she would stop cornering him. “I don’t know what your game is but—” The sound of a car door closing stopped him.
“Dammit. The party pooper is home. We’ll have to finish later.” She looked to Bix again and ran her tongue over her lips.
Bix tried pulling his shirt together the best he could, but it was a useless attempt with his buttons scattered across the floor.

Interview Questions:
1.       Where did the idea come from for the book? The start of the story was actually something my hubby shared with me one day. He pulled over to help a stranded motorcyclist. I stole his tale, changing it to a girl helping a guy & the rest ran from there.2.       What genre does your book fall under? It won best romantic suspense in 2011 at LRC café. There is a lot going on to keep you guessing but there is enough romantic element to keep the romance reader pleased.3.       Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?  I never play that game. There is a novel I wrote early on – I picked Heath Ledger as the male role. Now I can’t picture anyone else. I have to leave this to the reader’s imagination. 4.       What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Bix finally won Ellie’s affection. Little did he know, that was the easy part.5.       Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? It was released by Musa Publishing in November 2011. I haven’t wanted to go the self-publishing route with any of my novels to date.6.       How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? This one was completed in just over a month. Some stories just write themselves.7.       What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? I read more thrillers than anything but a few readers have compared it to Sandra Brown’s newer suspense books over her older romance novels.8.       Who or What inspired you to write this book? Hubby gave me a terrific start with the idea for them meeting. We used to have a cyber café so that gave it a great setting. I used our house & town for visuals. The “evil twin” thing sort of just happened. I have to admit it surprised even me. 9.        What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? If you like twin stories, this is one with a twist. Ellie was a very stubborn character work with so you’d have to not mind a strong-willed female lead. It’s been quoted as being a great story about forgiveness. If you love strong family ties, this is for you. I dare you not to love her brothers. I’ve been told many times that Nick & Nathan were people’s fa
4 Star Review
A sweet fast paced love story, well written and entertaining. The reason I only gave the story four stars is that it lost its momentum in the last few chapters.
The two Noelle and Bix met when Bix's motorcycle died on the road and she helped him. Her love for fast engines established as the author pointed out her four red Honda vehicles each ready in his own right for any terrain and I really expected some fast action with this knowledge. Like a fast chase in snow while fleeing from the villain, Shawn Teidelman. But at the end the beauties just stood still and was not mention again. But then this was not a action novel but a sweet love story as I already pointed out in the beginning. Smile. ( I am a sucker for fast cars, even the Stingray, Corvette and Comaro that was mentioned later on as part of Bix's inheritance made my own heart race)
Both characters were complementing each other. Although struggling with the death of her fiance she allowed Bix, a computer geek to court her and love her which at the end make the story a winner.
At first sparks flew when these two met and then just a chapter later ended up in a secluded farmhouse which belonged to Gramps, Bix grandfather. A sweet older man with a calm and patient character breaking the walls even further.
Under his watchful eyes these two got the time to know each other and fell in love. The light banter and caring from Bix during her illness breaking the ice walls Noelle so carefully build around her.
I was really impressed with this young man with the unusual name. His patience stood out throughout the story as he helped her getting over the death of her fiance and parents accepting him and later on mending the gap between the two sisters. Together with her lively brothers Nick and Nathan they protected her when Shawn mistook Nancy for Noelle/Ellie since they are identical twins coming after Noelle at the end.
The two sisters consistent feud, living in each others shadows and no love was lost between them. Nancy that tried to break up every relationship Ellie was in, being the mistress of a Duke.
But at the end she needed Ellie to safe her life, needing a kidney transplant which she agreed upon. Because they are family.
Every character played their part in building the plot to a entertaining novel with their quirky attitudes smoothing the path between the two lovers bringing them together and settling into their lives. The blossoming romance between Bart and Sue, Bix parents after years of separation and the healing that took place between father and son was also a highlight in the book.
At the end a good book that I can recommend to romance lovers.

#cblspromotions Present My Brother's Keeper (Sequel to “By Right of Blood”) Barrage and Giveaway

My Brother's Keeper(Sequel to “By Right of Blood”)by Lorrieann RussellHistorical RomancePublished by Edin Road PressRelease Date: December 5, 2012Heat Level: SweetLength: 703 pages
Buy LinksAmazon (Kindle): / Amazon (Paperback):/ B&N (Paperback):

BlurbScottish noble William Fylbrigge has finally come into his own after being named as the Earl of Sutherland and heir to Lord Edward, the Duke of Stonehaven -- titles that his older brother Thomas always expected would be his own.
With the assistance of some dangerous new allies, including the corrupt but powerful Bishop Dunkirk, Thomas and his dragon wife Bryndah level the charge of witchcraft against the new Earl, threatening his life and family, and all those who support him. Especially since the charge may be truer than they imagined.
Will the people he has led the charge to protect now come to his side in his time of need?
Reviews:"Vivid, splendid, brightly colored...My Brother's Keeper is a well-woven tapestry of exciting characters you'll remember always, in a romantic, dramatic, richly epic Scottish setting you won't soon forget."--Patricia Kennealy-Morrison, author of The Keltiad and Strange Days: My Life With and Without Jim Morrison
“The story takes hold of you from the first page to the last and will not let you go until that ending has manifested itself. This is brilliant storytelling at it’s finest and Lorrieann Russell is a born storyteller. Long live William Fylbrigge!”--Valerie R. Williams, reader review
“MY BROTHER’S KEEPER will whisk you away to a time of political intrigue, black magic and romantic pageantry. Ms. Russell weaves a story of olde that allows her reader to be transported to another place and time where wisdom is often overruled by witchcraft and fear. This is just great storytelling. A true delight.”--Elsa Poole, reader review

Excerpt #1:With one last glance in the mirror, William took a deep breath. “Well, I would say I am as ready as I will ever be.” He extended his hand toward the door. “After you.”
Sean pushed William’s hand down and extended his own. “No. After you.” He shook his head. “Some nobleman.”
They laughed and started toward the door. They were stopped by a firm knock.
“Are you expecting guests, Will?”
“I never expect anything. Makes everything much more interesting.” He chuckled and opened the door. The smile on his face faded as quickly as it had appeared. “Thomas. What are you doing here?”
“Would you leave your only brother standing in the corridor? Or may I come in?”
“Actually, we were just on our way down. You can walk with me if you choose.”
Thomas ignored the comment, walking straight past William and into the room. He strode to the table and helped himself to some wine, then turned slowly to face William. “I see you have finally learned the proper way to dress yourself,” Thomas said, scrutinizing William as he would a horse he wished to purchase and giving Sean a dismissive glance. “A pity that you still need lessons on what company to keep, however. William, there is a matter we need to discuss. Could we have a private moment?”
Sean bristled and started toward the door. William held up a hand.
“I don’t think there is time now, Thomas. You really don’t want me to be late for my own wedding, do you?” William turned to leave.
“I wouldn’t be so quick to turn your back on me, brother.”
William stopped, then slowly turned to face his brother. “I beg your pardon?”
“I said, there is a matter we need to discuss… privately.”
“Say what you came to say, but Sean will stay here. If you will not speak, then we shall go down to the hall.” William clenched his teeth to keep the confident edge in his voice, but he could feel the angry redness forming on his face.
Thomas took a step forward, locking his eyes on William’s. “Lord Ogham is not amused at the way you so eloquently convinced some of his earls to shift the trade routes from his tenants. You may have held your own against his dull-minded twits, Drunbalk and Wesley, but are you prepared to take on Ogham face-to-face?” He took another step forward, glowering. “I cannot believe Edward sent you to the negotiations, a beardless boy. Is he trying to condemn the lot of us?”
William scowled at his brother, resisting the urge to reach for his sword. “Edward has no such concern, Thomas. At any rate, I will not speak with you further on this subject tonight.”
“Then allow me a word of brotherly advice. You have angered some considerably dangerous adversaries.” Thomas sauntered toward the door, a wry grin coming to his face. “You would be wise to watch your back, dear brother. It is obvious you have no one capable of watching it for you.”
Sean crossed the room in less than a heartbeat, his hands clasped tightly around Thomas’s throat. “That’s twice! No further threats will come from you.”
Thomas twisted awkwardly, trying to free Sean’s hands from his throat.
William strolled toward the two. He spoke in a soft and steady voice as Sean and Thomas grappled. “We don’t have time for him, Sean. But feel free to finish this later. Right now, I’d like to go downstairs to get married.” He casually returned to the door. “Now, is anyone going to join me?”
Sean released Thomas with a shove, sending him flailing over the table. The wine bottle and glasses hit the stone floor with an ear-splitting shatter. Thomas rose to his feet quickly. Red-faced and furious, he stormed toward William. “You have set your course, brother. Mark my words; this is not finished!” The echo of the threat hung in the air as Thomas stalked past William and out of the room.
“How pathetic,” William said, more to himself than to Sean. “He still attempts to intimidate me.”
Sean set the table straight, leaving the broken glass where it lay, and returned to William’s side.
The scarlet slowly fading from his cheeks as William brushed the dust off Sean’s shoulder. “Thank you, Sean. You handled that quite nicely. I would have hated to ruin this fine outfit.”
“My pleasure.” Catching his breath, Sean grandly primped up his own less grand sleeves. “Will,” he began, still struggling with his breathing.
“What is it? We’re late, you know.”
“Don’t worry about your back. I’ve got it covered.”
“I’m counting on that, my friend.”
