Slow, but going!
Things are going slowly here, but they're going!
Every time that I'm feeling a bit discouraged, I remind myself that one word is one more word than I had before!
I'm hoping here in the near future I can get a friend of mine to sit down with me so I can pick his brain. He's a bit of a history buff, and one of the romances that I'm writing is a period piece set during World War II. In a way, this piece is personal for me, simply because many of my family served during WWII. I'm still debating where the piece will be set, but that's because I would like for it to be historically accurate, of course, and some of the major details of the story require certain locations.
Hang in there, folks! We're nearly halfway there!

The Ultimate Writing Resource List
For today, I'm just leaving this here. My aunt tagged me on Facebook with the link, but the source is imsirius on Tumblr. I'm not a Tumblr user, but I'm glad she found it.
The Ultimate Writing Resource List
There's A LOT of great things there you should look in to.

Camp NaNo Progress Calendar
Sharing a link.
Camp Nanowrimo Progress Log by Deviant *ArtsyAndreaM
Nifty little calendar. I imagine you could order hers or create something similar for yourself? I'm a big Excel user (read: I use the ever living crap outta Excel) and will probably make one of my own.

SO. TIRED.
We're officially three days in to Camp RenRom (and NaNo), and I've added thirty-four words.
Thirty-four.
34.
That's it. I've also barely edited the piece I'm working on.
Oy vey.
I feel like I let "real life" get in the way too often; however, I don't feel that the real world is "more important". There's just responsibilities to be handled.
You can find my previously explanation of what I'm talking about here: The Dangers of the Stay-At-Home-Worker.
That pretty much sums it up.
I'm going to win Camp RenRom.
I. AM. GOING. TO. WIN.

Backpack? Check. Sweet tea? Check. Paper? Check. Pen? Check. Plot? Errr....
Mere days away from Camp NaNoWriMo, and I haven't decided which plot I'm going to be working on for it. Yikes!
That aside, I've been working on some great things for Camp RenRom! Renaissance Romance Publishing loves what NaNoWriMo does. We're not affiliated with them, but we do want to see new authors emerge and thrive! Things you can look forward to for Camp RenRom:
Write-ins with several published authors of RenRomPub, as well as some soon to be published!Tips and strategies from RenRomPub authors of avoiding writer's block, keeping on track, etc.Word wars, which are always a blast!Skype, Facebook, and Twitter interactionsAnd much more!
I know, as many do, what it's like just getting started. Not knowing if what you wrote is good enough. Did you remember to include all the pertinent information?
That's why I would personally like to offer this:
If you complete Camp NaNoWriMo, April 2013 I will beta our manuscript and offer advice where I can. Before being an author, I was, and still foremost am, a substance editor. I'd like to help others reach their full potential! Along with this, Renaissance Romance Publishing hosts Open Calls on a regular basis, and we'd love to see your work submitted!
Please, consider joining us!

R.E. Hargrave
Jude Ouvrard
Today, Lisa Bilbrey, one of RenRom's founders, stopped by new author Jude's blog!

The First of Many!
I haven't shared here, yet, but if you've seen me on the Twittersphere as @AuthorSAJones; you know that starting today, I'll be posting every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Sometimes on the weekends, but I don't want to tell you all I will be, and then not. Lol. That's not to say that they'll all be long posts, as they probably won't be, but there will be posts! I'll be posting on my "Mom" blog, which is the personal life of this author, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights.
This past year has been a crazy adventure for me, and I've been enjoying every minute of it! Today my husband went back to work. We've thoroughly enjoyed having him home with us for the past two weeks, but I'm a bit glad he's back on a semi-schedule, as it helps get me back on schedule as well!
Well, that's it for today. I have some editing to do, and then it is dinner time 'round our house.
Take care, everyone!

Camp NaNoWriMo 2013
You saw the posts in November about National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)... Did you know they also host...
That's right! Another two months a year to participate with hundreds of thousands of other writers all over the world as you aim for a 50k word goal within a month. Camp NaNoWriMo is a bit more slack than NaNoWriMo, and helps to kick you into gear for any of those works in progress you have lurking around!
Take a moment, check it out!

**I am in no way affiliated with the NaNoWriMo staff, though that would be awesome; I am just an enthusiast of writing and encouraging others to write!

The Next Big Thing
Welcome to this blog hop.
What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way that readers can discover new authors, because with bookstores closing and publishers not promoting new authors as much, we need to find a way to introduce readers to authors they may not see in their local bookstore.
Here you have the chance to find many new authors. Here you’ll find information about me, what I’m working on now “Your book and if part of a series.” Also see links below to other authors you might like to check out.
I’d like to thank fellow author Jennifer Garcia for tagging me to participate. Click the link below to find out about her upcoming novel, My Mr. Manny.
www.jenniferfgarcia.com
In this particular hop, my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, and I have answered 10 questions where you get to learn about our current work in progress as well as some insights into our process, from characters and inspirations to plotting and cover decisions. I hope you enjoy it!
Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!
1: What is the working title of your book?
Static Love
2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
It actually was a tweaked version of something out of The Plot Machine on ScriptFrenzy.org. The original prompt was something along the lines of, "While stealing girl scout cookies a student falls in love with a voice on the radio."
3: What genre does your book come under?
This piece is undoubtedly romance, but definitely dramatic, and it is a time piece.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh, that's tough! One of the main characters is fashioned after Christopher Eccleston, and I would be beyond honored if he ever wanted to play one of my written characters! Hmmmn... I'm still really trying to figure out my main female lead, but Billie Piper would serve as a wonderful supporting character in the story. As well as Ewan McGregor and Gerard Butler. (That could be because I'm partial to all of them.) There's far more male characters focused on than female.
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
While trying to escape the death of her husband who was lost at war, a woman falls in love with a voice on the radio, and decides to pursue it in hopes of moving on with her life.
6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
It will be submitted to the independent publisher Renaissance Romance Publishing to be considered once it is completed.
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
It's still being written! Haha. With time pieces there is so much research that you don't really think about needing to do, if you want it to be accurate, until you start writing and you're pausing every few moments to research another fact.
8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Another hard one. I, personally, have never read a book that could compare to what I'm trying to do; I believe that's why I'm so excited to complete it!
9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
NaNoWriMo, ScriptFrenzy, being a military spouse, a love of radio personalities, a love of the time period that the book takes place (1930's-1950's).
10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
The book does not end where you would expect. There comes a point in this book where the main character is going to have to choose between the one that they love and have always loved, or allowing herself to live on without him, but it's not just a matter of to accept or not accept death.
Below you will find authors who will be joining me by blog, next Wednesday. Do be sure to bookmark and add them to your calendars for updates on WIPs and New Releases! Happy Writing and Reading!
