(PUBLISHED JUNE 6, 2015)

Accepting drinks from a secret admirer brings her life to a screeching halt. After waking up from a coma and facing her attacker during a trial, she changes her identity and starts a new life in Denver. Finding an old run down building across the street from her favorite bakery, she plans to start a Music Conservatory of her own.
The only thing standing in her way is Billionaire Real Estate Developer and One of America’s Most Eligible Bachelors Easton Kerrigan.
Kennedy and Easton's Story is the beginning of a six book series involving The Kerrigan Siblings and Friends.
All books are standalone and have a Happily Ever After for the main characters.
These books will contain extremely dark subject matter and the couples face a lot of hardships before they find their HEA.
This book contains GRAPHIC SEX SCENES, STRONG LANGUAGE, and VIOLENCE.

When the doors open, I see a giant of a man occupies it. He’s easily six foot five and takes up most of the height of the elevator. He has the same blue eyes and raven colored hair as Stacy. He looks up from his phone, and our eyes lock. A slow smile spreads across his face.
“Going down?” he says with a grin on his face as if he knows he is God’s gift to women.
“I will catch the next one.” I answer sarcastically.
He nods then lets the doors close. I finally take a breath. Holy shit! It’s my dream man, the lumberjack version of Ian Somerhalder. My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest. The man in the elevator must be another figment of my imagination. Yes, that’s it. It's just like when I saw the girls in the theatre. After a few minutes the door dings and opens, I step forward but stop. The man is still in the elevator. I step back from the door. Nope, it wasn’t my imagination. He’s real, and he seems to like riding on the elevator. I look right then left for the staircase. This man makes me nervous.
“Are you going down, sir? I don't like being in confined places with strangers. Can you please just take the elevator down and get out. I will take the next one.” His gaze travels from my head to my feet and then back up.
His voice is deep and seductive. “Get in the elevator,” he says in a husky voice.
I take another step back as he takes a step forward.
“Easton.” I hear a voice behind me call. While he is distracted, I barely make it into the elevator as the doors close.
“Fuck!” he shouts, but it's too late. The elevator has already started its descent. Out on the street, I let myself feel discouraged. I pictured exactly what I wanted, but now that’s not an option. Okay, Kennedy, time to put your thinking cap on.
I make it into the parking garage when I feel a hand grab my shoulder. On reflex I slide my foot back, knock him off balance, then grab his hand and bend it back, applying as much pressure into his pressure point as I can before taking him to the ground in an arm bar. I hear footsteps, and I look up to see a security guard with a perplexed looked on his face.
“Mr. Kerrigan, are you ok, sir?” I release his arm and stand up brushing myself off.
“I don't like being touched. You shouldn't sneak up on women in parking garages.” Easton looks more angry than embarrassed. “I'm going now. Don't follow me.”
“Sir, do you want me to detain her?” the security guard asks.
“If either of you take a step toward me, I will snap your neck before you ever lay a hand on me!”
I turn around, get in my truck and gun it out of the parking garage.

Estelle and Rhydian's Story is book two of a seven book series involving The Kerrigan Siblings and Friends.
All books are standalone and have a Happily Ever After for the main characters.
These books will contain extremely dark subject matter and the couples face a lot of hardships before they find their HEA.
Some Scenes in Estelle's story maybe hard to read for abuse victims.

"Momma, can we go to the park tomorrow?"
"Mon trésor, I shall even buy you ice cream!"
"Really, Momma?"
"Yes, my love, now close your eyes and remember, my heart. Il n'est rien de réel que le rêve et l'amour."
"I love you, Momma."
“I love you too, Estelle."
Momma and Papa are yelling again.
"Please, Edwin, this does not have to be our life! We can go to France, or to Argentina, and have a life away from these men you have gotten involved with. Please, Edwin! I beg you, do it for me and Estelle." I hear Momma say.
"You don’t understand, Celine. I have power here—money and wealth! What, you think I will go back to Argentina to work for my father? Working in his fields, harvesting grapes? These are the hands of a businessman, not a farm hand. We can’t go back to France! You have no family, you will never dance with the Paris Ballet again, what would you have us do, Celine?" he yells.
"Anything but this, Edwin. You are becoming someone I do not even know! You come home with blood on your clothes, or smelling of liquor and cheap perfume. This is not a life to raise a child in."
"Celine, you see this beautiful mansion you call a home and the fine clothes you wear, the people that clean this house for you and cook your meals? Next time you go to your fancy shops you remember the blood on my clothes put that money in your hands."
"Edwin, please!" Momma says. I hear noises, Papa is hurting Momma again. I hear her begging him to stop, so I get out of bed and tiptoe out of my room. I see him hitting Momma with the belt. Papa turns around and I run back to my room.
"Mon trésor, wake up my love."
“Momma?” she has her coat on.
"I'm sleepy, Momma."
"I know, my love, but we must go! Come quickly!"
I take my Momma’s hand, but when we step out of my room, I see my Papa; he looks angry. "Celine, where do you think you are going?"
"I'm taking Estelle and we are going away. You can live in this giant house with your secrets and your whores, but my daughter will not be raised like this."
"Mon trésor, I want you to sit on your bed. I will come to collect you as soon as possible."
Momma closes my door and I hear the shouting, so I open the door and look. Papa grabs Momma by her coat and throws her down the stairs. I hear Momma scream, then I hear nothing.
I make my way out of my room to the stairs. I see Momma laying at the bottom of the stairs; she isn't moving and her eyes are open. I know she isn't asleep. I see my Papa on the phone, and a few minutes later two men come in with a blue plastic sheet. They put Momma on it and carry her out. Papa follows them out the door. I wait on the stairs for Momma to come get me, but she never comes back.

KATIE IN DENVER
(PUBLISHED OOCTOBER 10, 2015)

Finding out she is pregnant at sixteen was not part of Katie's plan. When she tells Michael, he informs her that he has been accepted to an ivy league school; he has no intentions of staying in Denver to play the role of teen dad.
Scared and alone Katie has to decide if she is going to terminate her pregnancy or keep the baby she already loves.
Nine years later Katie and Micheal will cross paths and past secrets will come to light. Can mistakes be forgiven? Can first love be rekindled, or will past heartache and betrayal be to much to overcome?

“Please come this way,” the nurse says. “We need to do an ultrasound to determine how far along you are. If you’re under nine weeks, you can choose to take the abortion pill but if you’re over nine weeks, then you need to have an in-clinic surgical procedure.” I can feel the panic starting to set in. The nurse takes my hand.
“Listen, you haven’t made any decision yet. You can walk out of here right now if that’s what you want.” I nod but don’t respond.
I just sit on the examining table in silence. The nurse instructs me to pull my shirt up, and she squirts some kind of gel on my stomach; it’s really cold. Slowly, she moves the wand around.
“You look to be about sixteen weeks so if you wanted to proceed today it would have to be a surgical abortion. I can explain the procedure, we have a coach that can come in and hold your hand while you have the procedure,” she says with a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes.
I look at the small dot on the screen and then she turns a dial, and I hear it: I hear my baby’s heartbeat and everything becomes so clear to me.
She goes to turn it off when she sees the tears running down my face, but I grab her hand. “Please, I just want to hear it a little longer.” I reach my hand out and touch the screen. She is clicking buttons, and I see pictures coming out the side of the machine. I don't even ask for them, I just snatch the pictures from the machine and grip them for dear life. I want to remember this moment; I want to remember the moment I stopped living for me, and I started living for my child. I look at the nurse and start getting off the exam table. “I’m not doing it, can I please go?”
She smiles. “Yes, let me get you cleaned up and you can go. You have a few more weeks if you change your mind,” she adds.
“No, I know I want my baby even if no one else does. Thank you for being so nice,” I say before running to the waiting room.

As a writer, you don't expect everyone to LOVE or even LIKE what you write, but writers don't write to be praised they write because they enjoy it and it's satisfying. when your see something that was in your head transformed into an actual book the feeling is indescribable. I remember when I was young I use to think I would be a writer when I grew up up like most adults learn, Life happens and you have to put aside your childish dreams and work, provide, sacrifice. I live in this real world where every day is is struggle, so I made up a world of Billionaires and Superstars, in my books with all these characters beauty and charmed lives they still face semi-real life situation that is why I write fiction, it suppose to be over the top and unbelievable, if anyone has found any real life Werewolf or Bear shifters let me know!!!!
So with that said no matter how many one star reviews I get I will still keep telling my stories, you don't have to love them and you don't have to like them and I might be the worst author in the history of Amazon, but that's okay because I'm doing what I told my younger self I couldn't do.

Savannah Hill's new Paranormal Erotic Romance, Paramour for the Devil

PARAMOUR FOR THE DEVIL
AUTHOR: Savannah HillGENRE: Paranormal Erotic Romance

Darkly erotic. Supremely powerful.

Damian, son to Lucifer, has renounced his right to the throne of Hell and has become a soldier for Adversus, hunting evil supernatural creatures on Earth. Unfortunately, he’s powerless to witches, and this witch can read his mind. He can’t decide what is more dangerous—the irresistible attraction he feels for her, or the intoxicating peace she gives him. One thing is certain, they both share a tortured past.
After Damian rescues her from an attack by monstrous djinn, Haley discovers the dangerously seductive soldier has secrets of his own. One of them is the collection of whips, ropes, handcuffs, and a leather riding crop he keeps locked away, though he refuses to show her his “Master” side. But when her trust in him grows, she finds herself increasingly intrigued by all the kinky things he’s hiding. But Damian has been given a new mission to kill a monster. A monster that turns out to be her uncle...

Haley's fingers moved automatically, stumbling only slightly over the same heavy melodies she’d once played obsessively for hours. The bedroom door opened, and Damian walked into the room, breaking her reverie.
“Oh, hi.” He stared at her in surprise, holding a towel low around his waist, and Haley caught herself gaping at the defined muscles of his upper body, adorned with scars. “I didn’t know you were in here, I’m just gonna grab some clothes.”
His half naked body had her heart beating erratically in her chest, and Haley tried not to look at him as he pulled open a dresser drawer. She suddenly realized he was reaching for his own clothes. “Is…is this your room?”
“Yeah.” He retrieved a stack of folded clothes from the drawer. “You can stay in here though, I’ll sleep somewhere else.”
“I’m so sor—” Haley abruptly stopped speaking as he casually took off the towel, and she let out a barely audible gasp. Turning away from him, she brought her hand to cover her eyes. “I’m...I can go…”
Her pulse raced at the sound of rustling cotton as he dressed a few feet away from her.
“You play guitar?”
“Uh…no, not really… I mean… I don’t play well.” She kept her eyes hidden from him with one hand while she loosely held the neck of the guitar with the other, aware that her dress had hiked up around her hips in her cross-legged position.
“You can look now.”
She opened her eyes as he sat next to her, wearing a white T-shirt over gray sweatpants. “I thought it sounded really good.”
Looking down at the beautiful instrument in her lap, recognition sparked. “Is this yours?”
With a nod, he got up to pull her red guitar from the wall. “When did you learn how to play?”
“When I was younger,” she nervously held his shiny blue Les Paul, unsure where to put her hands, “but I got a little obsessed with it when I stayed in here for a few months.”
Damian sat down with hers and started tuning it. “So this is your room...” He concentrated on the strings in his hand. “And this is your guitar?”
“Red Velvet.” She nodded, trying to keep her breathing even.
“You named your guitar?” He smiled at her.
Haley relaxed a little as he tuned the strings. “I was very close with it for a while.” She took a steadying breath. “It kind of felt like therapy.”
“That was after you escaped?”
“Yes.” She lowered her gaze.
“I actually took this room because it had an amp in it.” Damian mindlessly played a slow melody on her guitar.
“When did you start playing?” The sound sent a tingling warmth through her, and she found herself staring at his fingers as they expertly moved along the strings.
“When I was a kid. It came naturally to me.”
Her focus dimmed at the powerful chords. “So…you were a kid…at one time…”
He nodded. “I’ve aged normally so far, like a human, but eventually I’ll stop aging.”
“How old are you?”
“Thirty-two.” He cast his gaze downward.
Haley looked thoughtfully at the bedspread, listening to the haunting music. “I’m twenty-seven.” She volunteered the information. “I feel like I’m eighty, I never go out anywhere.” Her gaze flickered to him. “Are you really only thirty-two?”
He seemed surprised by her remark and looked back down to the strings. “It’s a lot older than you.”
“You’re immortal.” She gave him a half-smile. “You could be thousands of years old.”

Savannah Hill is an erotic romance novelist diligently working to create a world that readers can truly experience and enjoy along with her. Captivated by romance at a very young age, she began writing love stories in grade school, always imagining new scenarios and characters. Addicted to her passion, her first novel, Paramour for the Devil, is the story that invaded her dreams until the final chapter was written. She is currently writing the sequel to Paramour, Seducing the Devil.
She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her man, the love of her life, and spends her days chasing their toddler boy who loves to giggle.

25 Fun Facts:
1) Savannah Hill is a pen name, but when my man, Forrest Hill, and I tie the knot, it will become my legal name. My mom named me Savannah after a character on Days of Our Lives.
2) I took a break halfway through writing Paramour for the Devil and wrote the first half of the sequel, Seducing the Devil, before going back to finish the first book.
3) My father owns a classic Chevelle, the same muscle car my character Damian drives.
4) I set out to write a romantic comedy that could star Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan if it was adapted to film... though sweet romantic love remains at the very heart of the story, the book took it's own turn down a very dark, erotic, violent path as I wrote it.
5) I've always pictured Danneel Ackles as my perfect Haley, but with bright blue eyes. I recently found out she's married to Jensen Ackles, I wouldn't mind having his sexy ass play the role of Damian.
6) I listened to Tool's album Lateralus for several hours while imagining up the third book in the Hawthorne Witches series.
7) The fourth book in the Hawthorne Witches series is my absolute favorite, Haley's cousin, Cassie's story. She's a bit of a party girl but has some awful things happen to her and falls for Damian's evil brother Roman, the reigning dark lord in Hell.
8) Haley and Damian bond a little over their mutual interest in Lord of the Rings. After writing the scene where they watch the movies, I had an LOTR/Hobbit movie marathon with my man.
9) When writing the sequel, Seducing the Devil, I researched Lucifer's appearance by reading through passages that describe him in the Bible. He has a giant wingspan and lizard-like eyes.
10) Originally, I wanted to name the U.S. government agency that Damian works for "Aegis", but upon doing a little research, I discovered that is actually the name of a real government defense company. I went with Adversus instead.
11) The idea for the book came to me one summer morning when I drove home from my friend's house the morning after a party, completely hungover. I wrote the first chapter that day. (And watched Kill Bill volumes 1 & 2 out of order, just like they do in the story.)
12) I dreamed up Damian (the son of Satan) several years ago in my early twenties after watching hours upon hours of Supernatural. I pictured his car in my mind and had to do a little research to realize I was imagining a Chevelle Supersport. Then my father bought a Chevelle many years later, it's apparently always been his dream car.
13) The movie The Raid 2 somehow inspired many aspects of the story for Paramour for the Devil, especially Hawthorne Tower, the accounting firm where Haley works.
14) The Hawthorne's house in Seattle they call "the Castle" was inspired by an actual home I lived in, located in the Montlake neighborhood of Seattle. It had a strange castle-like feel to it, and the floors/staircases were just slightly slanted from an earthquake. We called it the "Crooked Castle".
15) Deleted scenes from the book are available on my website: www.savannahhillromance.com.
16) My man claims he is the inspiration for the character, Neil (Haley's annoying ex-boyfriend), when in reality, several of Damian's characteristics and even some exact quotes, are directly based on my man's personality.
17) I dreamed up most of the plot for Paramour for the Devil during daily running sessions. The monotonous cardio provided a perfect escape for me.
18) Haley's cousin (and best friend), Ginger, is a mixture of my two best friends, Breanna and A.B.
19) I started writing romance in 6th grade, swapping stories written on notebook paper with my group of girlfriends at the time. I definitely enjoyed the writing part more than they did, and I started to get the idea that it was my real passion.
20) I stayed up writing all night at times, and when I re-read some of the scenes, I didn't remember writing them at all. This was the case for the scene describing Haley's escape from Hell.
21) My obsession with romance began with Disney, specifically Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Now I get to watch them constantly with my toddler boy and experience them in a new way as a mother.
22) Just like Damian, my man plays guitar. I fell for him right away when he played Led Zeppelin's "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" for me on our first date. For our anniversary, he bought me a beautiful red bass guitar that I named Red Velvet, which is what Haley names her electric guitar.
23) A lot of writers do their best work when they're drunk, I can't even focus on the screen after one beer. However, marijuana is legal in Washington state, and I definitely found some inspiration with a strain called golden pineapple.
24) I write on my laptop in my bed, and, after doing something very silly and setting my hot flat-iron on my keyboard, the "F" key melted off. I wrote the entire book without an "F" key, just pressing the little tiny knob. Works like a charm.
25) I work from home as an administrative assistant for a medical marijuana clinic, and I wrote quite a bit of Paramour for the Devil between productivity reports while on the clock.

New Contemporary Romance from Lyssa Layne, Another at Bat

ANOTHER AT BAT
GENRE: Contemporary Romance CONTENT WARNING: Some adult content

Pitcher Jace Richards had it all. Fame, status, money, and the perfect girl but it wasn't enough. Unable to curb his gambling addiction, he lost everything. Now banned from the MLB, he's struggling to get his feet back on the ground.
Laurel Darbis is the mom to ten-year-old Grey. Her son is her world and she'd do anything for him, including putting up with her cheating ex-husband, Adam. He doesn't make things easy on her but with her friends and family by her side, she has a strong support system to help her deal with his petty drama.
Grey is about to start baseball with his friends but their coach backs out at the last minute. All of the parents are thrilled when the new coach arrives, everyone except Laurel.
Can the former bad boy tame his ways for the sake of his players? Will the protective mother let down her guard? Either way, no one will ever expect what happens when the two match up.

“Whatever, Ash. You know the chances of me dating are non-existent, especially a jerk like him.” I nod toward the field where Jace stands on the pitching mound, the kids filling in the other positions around him. We turn our attention back to the hottie in the center of the infield.
“Wow, what do you have against him?” Ashley glances at me out of the corner of her eyes. “Oh geez, Laurel, don’t tell me you’re one of the groupies that went to spring training and hooked up with him!”
I swat her leg and laugh. “No! You really think I’d keep that kind of secret from you?”
“Ow!” She rubs her leg like I really hurt her. “You’d better not. If you hooked up with him, you had better give me all the details… and I mean all.”
I turn to face her. “Is your sex life that bad that you have to live vicariously through me?”
“Hell no! I’m just saying that if you ever got in bed with a baseball god like Jace Richards then I’d want a play by play. Don’t get me wrong, Kurtis and I have a hot sex life, but his body is nothing like that.” She nods to the field again and we both subconsciously sigh at the sight in front of us.
“Duly noted, I’ll add that to our friendship pact. If I ever get laid by a baseball god, take notes and tell you.” Giggling, we pinky promise and watch the kids practice. We met in elementary school and some days, we still act like we’re still in fifth grade.
After a few minutes, Ashley asks again, “So for real, what’s your beef with Jace Richards?”
I shrug. “Everything I’ve read about him says he’s a cheater. He cheated his team, he cheated the system, he cheated on that trainer he was dating…”
“Oh, so you hate him because your ex cheated on you?”
Jace winds up again, whizzing another ball past the batter. “You know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater.”
Ashley lifts her eyebrow. “Well, haven’t you heard, don’t always believe everything you read?”
I bite the inside of my cheek. Ashley has a point, I don’t know this guy. Maybe the tabloids lied about him, maybe there’s more to his story. I sigh, maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt. Then again, last time I gave a man the benefit of the doubt, I wound up divorced.

What Love Can Do by Scott Pixello
Promo Blitz What Love can do by Scott Pixello

17-year-old Graham Stanley doesn’t believe in love at first sight. At school, he’s had to read Romeo & Juliet and even watch the Leonardo Di Caprio film. Then Graham meets Katya, a German foreign exchange student and his life is turned upside-down.What does he do? Should he copy Leo? Should he get a fish tank? These and other, less pressing questions are explored in a rom-com that straddles Europe like…well, like a Colossus.Over the course of a year, split between Brighton and Berlin and set against the backdrop of a referendum on EU membership, Graham too must decide where his future lies and more importantly, with whom.Graham and Katya are about to find out…what love can do.This is a romance like Graham’s rubber duck- it’s clean but not squeaky.

Pixello trivia1. The Post Office refuses to delivers letters to our house after our German shepherd, Bob, bit three different postmen.2. I once came across a headless corpse when I was 19 and had to try and identify the body.3. I have a PhD, so you really should call me ‘Dr Pixello’.4. I have twelve novels published as Scott Pixello but I also have seven non-fiction books under my own name, one of which is about to be translated into Chinese.5. I was excluded from school several times- I was a bit of a naughty boy.6. I’m no. 318 in Good Reads’ Never Ending Book Quiz, which is not amazing perhaps but that is out of 33 million people. I think that just shows I recall things I read but that are not important to counterbalance my chronic forgetfulness in everyday life.
7. No images appear of me anywhere on the Net, I don’t have a website and I don’t even have a mobile phone.
Only one of these statements is false. But can you spot which one?
Scott Pixello- just who the flip are you?Well, I’m a painfully shy Brit who writes books. I’ve had 12 published now, from historical parody, Biblical parody, science fiction-parody, coming-of-age-parody- you see a pattern emerging? My outlook on life is that it’s serious & absurd at the same time.I have extensive plans for world domination but don't worry, this is not in a Hitler-invading-Poland-sort-of-way. Every three months or so, a book with my name on the cover should be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. These are mostly mindless pieces of nonsense but with a serious underbelly. To me, life's a bit like Donald Trump's hair- the closer you look at it, the more absurd it seems.
Luke, I am Your Father is a male view of unplanned pregnancy and Memoir of a Gothic Girl is an individual’s exploration of her own identity by joining a subculture. Readers tell me they’re funny too.In my books, you’ll find plenty to make you smile and plenty to make you think- if you like doing either of those, you should enjoy my stuff.
What Love Can Do is my latest release available right now. It’s a rom-com set partly in Brighton, England and partly in Berlin, Germany as the lives of two teenagers collide and are changed forever. This is not a standard romance- from the cover design to the plot to the characters. It isn’t for those of you who like steamy reads but neither is it completely squeaky clean. It can be read by YA readers but works for adults too.
The main English character, Graham Stanley is 17, unmotivated and largely drifting through life until he meets Katya, a German exchange student who makes him question everything he thinks he knows. Over the course of a year, the pair gets to know each other’s city and unwittingly grow closer. Just as the UK must vote to stay in the EU, so Graham must choose whether he wants to stay in England or take the step of following his heart and moving abroad.Something to make you think. Something to make you smile. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. And that’s just when you see the price.

Bliss D. Light was just an ordinary children’s librarian until one day she discovered she could grow a tail. Now her life is filled with more magic than any of the fairy tales she tells the children who gather at her feet at the Shipsfeather library. Like many of the other residents of Shipsfeather, Ohio, Bliss is a dogshifter, and her newly discovered ability to change from human form into that of a sleek white greyhound has left her yearning to know more about her true heritage. The answer to all her questions, she is certain, lies with the dogshifters’ long lost Library of the Ancients and, undeterred by the fact that thousands before her have searched, she sets out to find it.
Accompanied by her best friend Harry, a disgraced werewolf/dogshifter mongrel, and hotly pursued by the evil werewolf team of Sybilla and Blaze, Bliss’s quest takes her across the sacred sites and ancient mounds of the American Southwest. Though kidnapped by dogcatchers, sold into racetrack slavery and forced to fight wolf dogs to survive, Harry and Bliss never lose sight of their goal—or each other. Because the only thing more important than finding the ancient lost treasure might just be preserving what they already have found: an unlikely love that could be the first step toward bringing two ancient enemy races together.

A burly man yelled, “I’ve got one,” and lunged at her. One gauntlet-covered hand reached out as she leapt away.
Who was he? Why was he chasing her? A dogcatcher? She’d taken a self-defense class in college but in dog form she had no hands to hit, no fingers to poke eyes, and no knees to kick vital parts. If this man were truly a dog catcher, she wished she could change into her human form. He’d realize his mistake and leave the Shipsfeather Public Library’s Children’s Librarian alone. If she uttered even one word, he’d freak out and want even more to catch a talking dog.
She plunged behind an evergreen tree. Stick held high, the man came right at her. Gathering her back legs under her, she pushed off, flying between his legs. Surprised, he fell on his backside. She ran towards the front of the library, hoping to reach the hidden entrance before the big guy caught her. Once inside she’d be safe. The dog-shifters would protect her.
As soon as her toes touched the sidewalk she galloped toward the impressive domed Shipsfeather Public Library building, which once had been a shapeshifting academy and still housed the dog-shifters and their school and library in the lower levels. She’d been the upstairs public library’s children’s librarian for five years, telling stories and decorating bulletin boards before she ever dreamed of turning into a dog.
She heard the bulky man breathing hard behind her. Then a tall thin man in a padded coat rushed at her with a huge butterfly net, his voice, gruffer and louder called, “Get ‘er, Elwood. She’d be one of them.”
Surrounded, she whirled to face the second man, bared her teeth, and tried to growl with menace. A frightened white Greyhound with her tail curled under her body until it touched her throat was not a very convincing threat. Elwood threw himself on top of her and held her down.
She gagged at his pizza breath and fought to wiggle loose, just as a third dogcatcher, a woman, opened the rear door of a white van and called to the men, “Throw her in here!”

As the door closed behind him, his brow wrinkled and he blinked. Instead of the terrifying werewolf he’d expected, a petite young woman peered at him over reading glasses.
His eyes scanned the office the size of most New York bistros, black leather except for the red carpetunder the ebony desk and book-lined walls. Behind the desk a window framed a classic New York skyline. He squinted in the midafternoon light to see the woman who leaned over a messy pile of papers. Whoever she was, she was not Dominika Romano. Perhaps a secretary or gofer, but not the most powerful woman in a city run by powerful women.
The woman stood, her delicate body draped in a black dress, a white cardigan pulled over her shoulders.
He stepped closer, “I’m looking for Ms. Romano,” and noticed exotic periwinkle blue eyes against her pale face.
Her voice was hesitant as she smoothed her blond curls. “I am Ms. Romano. Who are you?”
He saw a flicker of recognition in her eyes before he replied, “Pacifico Lopez, Zoogle Corp. But you’re not Dominika.” He smelled a faint scent of frangipani and his face flushed.
She snugged her sweater tight over her chest. “That’s my mother. She’s out of town. I’m Atlandia Romano. Her daughter.” Then added, “Mr. Lopez.”
Pacifico realized he was staring. Atlandia looked nothing like her mother or Sybilla. This lovely woman didn’t look like she could even be a werewolf. His face softened and he smiled, then remembered he’d come on serious business.
Behind him doors flew open and two ugly security guards entered, burly werewolves that appeared to be wolf-hyena crosses. The bigger one growled, “Want us to hurt him, miz?”
Atlandia shook her head. “I’m fine. Leave us alone.”
When they left, she raised her chin and asked, “Why did you come, Mr. Lopez?”
Pacifico stepped closer to the desk. “I have information that WWP operates an international ebook piracy operation. I want your mother to shut it down.”
The look on Atlandia’s face told him she had no idea what he was talking about.
“You must be mistaken, sir. This is a legitimate publishing company. Not financially successful, but I try to publish—”
The door burst open again and Sybilla Romano stepped in looking as mean as in the days she was Alpha of the Shipsfeather Pack. Her black Armani suit and knife-sharp stilettos accented her werewolf bitch style suit. Her raven chignon was pulled so tight that the edges of her darting dark eyes slanted up. “Landy, whatever is this dog doing in Mother’s office?” She approached Pacifico, looked down her prominent nose at him, and laughed. “Dog-shifters should be leashed. Or are little lap dogs an exception?”

Top Ten Most Useful Things in An Apocalypse By Lissa Bryan
So, the world has ended, or you’ve been given the doleful news it’s about to end. Lucky for you, I’ve composed a shopping list to take along on your looting trips so you can be sure to grab the most useful stuff you can have during an apocalypse. These items are not only useful, they’ll be the most valuable trade goods out there.
1) Guns— even if you never need them for defense against zombies or home protection, you’re going to need them for hunting once the supply of cans of Spaghetti-Os is depleted. If you can’t get a gun, a crossbow or a powerful slingshot is another good choice. Don’t laugh at the slingshot: some of the modern models are as powerful as a .22 caliber handgun. And the best thing about crossbows and slingshots is you can make more ammo for them.
2) Liquor— As Justin says, “It’s a pain-killer, a disinfectant, and a good time, all rolled into one.”It’s going to be one of the most valuable trade goods. I once told a paranoid acquaintance that if they were really worried about a societal collapse, they shouldn’t invest in gold. They should buy cases of Jack Daniels, Marlboros, and ammo.
3) Medicines—Anti-diarrheal medication will be a life-saver, especially once people start getting exposed to non-purified water. Fever reducers such as aspirin will also be vital (become a wasteland doctor by learning to make it from willow bark!) Stronger pain killers would be great to have, but pharmacies tend to be the first places looted, so you’re probably not going to have much luck with that.
4) Condoms—STDs and accidental pregnancy are still issues in the post-apocalypse world. Come prepared, as they say. Condoms can also keep your matches/kindling dry, keep dirt out of your weapons, and in a pinch, the unlubricated types can even be used to transport water. You can even put ‘em over your feet to keep them dry temporarily while crossing a stream. (Wet feet are very dangerous in a world where the smallest cut can lead to deadly infection.)
5) Tampons—Women will need these, obviously, but you can also use them for bandaging wounds, filtering water, and starting fires.
6) Weight loss powder/protein shakes—Your diet probably isn’t going to be consisting of recommended daily servings from all the food groups, so if you can supplement with diet shakes or muscle-building powders, it will probably help keep your body replenished with vitamins and nutrients you’re missing. And some Flinstones Chewables probably wouldn’t go amiss.
7) Duct tape— An all-purpose repair kit in handy roll form. Or make a prom dress. Whatever the situation may call for.
8) Bleach/iodine/water purifier— Once society crumbles, there goes our safe, clean water, too. We’re so used to being able to get potable water at the touch of a tap, we don’t even think about it, but clean water is going to be one of the most precious resources you can have, and you’re going to need a lotof it. You’ll have to get used to chemically purifying, filtering, distilling, or boiling every drop you drink.
9) Sunscreen— Zombielandwasn’t joking. Who’s going to treat you for skin cancer? Wear sunscreen, cover up, and stay safe. Take care of yourself as best you can and prevent ailments before they start.
10) Salt—Another thing that so ubiquitous we don’t think about it. Modern food has tons of salt in it, but once the manufactured stuff goes, we’re going to need to find new sources of salt, not only for our dietary needs, but for preserving food.

Giveaway to celebrate new historical romance from Laura Strickland, The White Gull

Author: Laura StricklandPublisher: The Wild Rose PressGenre: Historical RomanceRating: Sensual

When the trawler White Gull was lost in a storm off the coast of Lobster Cove, Lisbeth O'Shea's husband, Declan, was lost along with it. At least that’s what Lisbeth believes until, a year later, she hears Declan’s voice in the night and sees him haunting the shore near their tiny cottage. Then she wonders… Has grief affected her mind? Or is someone playing a cruel trick?
Town blacksmith Rab Sinclair has loved Lisbeth ever since he arrived in Lobster Cove. Lisbeth has never had eyes for anyone other than the charming, feckless Declan O’Shea, but Rab knows Declan was not faithful to Lisbeth. How can he convince the grieving widow she’s pinned her heart on the wrong man? And when dangerous secrets come to light, how can Rab protect the woman who means more to him than his own life?

Lightning flashed once more, flooding her eyes with brightness. In the doorway of the bedroom stood a figure wearing dripping oilskins with only the sou’wester missing from his bare head.
Declan.
In the sudden darkness that followed the lightning she moaned his name and then shouted it.
“Declan? Declan, Declan!”
She heard movement, the scrape of a boot on the floorboards, the flap of his coat as he turned and left the doorway.
With a sob, she followed. Hands stretched before her like a blind woman, she felt for him, stubbed her bare toe on the leg of the bedstead and faltered. She blundered from the room in his wake.
The cottage boasted but three rooms: this bedroom they had shared, another smaller bedroom she’d dreamed of someday using as a nursery for her children and the main room which combined parlor and kitchen. The darkness of the main room enfolded Lisbeth like black velvet. She had but a glimpse of paler darkness as the front door opened and closed again.
“Declan!”
She followed after him, her heart torn between gladness and pain. He was here! But if he truly were here, returned by some miracle from the same sea that had stolen him, why would he go from her?
She reached the door, tore it open and stared out into the storm. Waves and salt spray poured over the stones in front of the cottage. Static filled the air and lightning arced overhead, the thunder competing for dominance with the crash of the rain.
Wearing only her nightgown, Lisbeth was immediately soaked to the skin. The wind tore at her hair and she strained to catch sight of the figure she had glimpsed in the doorway.
From the cottage, as well she knew, a path led either north to a narrow strip of shingle or south towards Lobster Cove. Which way might he have gone? She could see nothing but storm, the raging elements that matched the furor now in her heart. Would he head down to the sea? Most this coast consisted of sheer rock but the O’Sheas possessed that stony beach where they had hauled up their boats and readied their lobster traps.
The boats were all gone; the White Gull lay in pieces. Why would Declan go there? Having come home to her, why would he leave at all?
She walked barefoot to a break in the rocks where the sea poured in like a gray beast, alive and wild. No one but a madman would be down on that strip of shingle now.
She turned her head toward the track but saw nothing. The thought came to her: maybe I imagined it. But she had heard the scrape of his boots on the floor. She had seen his hair ruffled by the force of the storm.
A dream, then. She’d had them before, yes, but never, never so real. She returned to the cottage where she shut the door and hurried to the fireplace. With clumsy hands, she searched for matches and the stub of a candle. Her fingers shook so violently it took her three attempts to put flame to the wick.
The light took hold slowly and seemed pitifully inadequate. Thrusting it aloft, Lisbeth retraced her steps to the door of her room, careful to keep her now-sodden garments swept back, her eyes on the floor.
A trail of wet led its way to the bedroom door and culminated on the threshold.
The very place where he had stood.
The candle tumbled from her suddenly numb fingers and the flame went out.

Blog Tour for new historical suspense, Casablanca: Appointment at Dawn by Linda Bennett Pennell

LINDA BENNETT PENNELL
Historical Suspense with Strong Romantic Elements

Casablanca, 1943 – a viper’s nest of double agents and spies where OSS Officer Kurt Heinz finds his skill in covert operations pushed to the limit. Allied success in North Africa, perhaps the outcome of the war, may hang on Kurt’s next mission. The nature of his work makes relationships impossible; nonetheless, he is increasingly torn between duty and the beautiful girl who desperately needs his help.
Sarah Barrett, U.S. Army R.N., is finished with wartime romance. Determined to protect her recently broken heart, she throws all of her time and energy into caring for her patients, but when she is given a coded message by a mysterious dying civilian, she is sucked into a vortex of danger and intrigue that threatens her very survival. The one person who can help Sarah is Kurt Heinz, a man with too many secrets to be trusted.

“I’m Heinz. What do you want?”
“Oh. It’s you.”
“Yeah?”
“From the restaurant on New Year’s Eve.”
Kurt was silent for a moment, then it came back to him. “I remember. Sarah, right? You’re the girl who refused to dance with me.”
A red flush crawled from her throat onto the apples of her cheeks. “Yes. I’m sorry if I was rude.”
“I’ve been cut dead before. I got over it.”
The girl’s eyes glittered. “I’m sure you did. Are you going to keep me standing here on the doorstep for everyone to see?”
“Why? I’m not expecting company. Would it be a problem?”
“It certainly might if the people who tore my apartment apart followed me here.”
Kurt looked into her eyes with complete attention for the first time since opening the door. Whatever had happened to this girl, she looked terrified and angry. Not a particularly good combination for the covert activities he and Phelps were up to.
Kurt made a quick decision. He stepped back and pulled the door wide while raising his voice. “You better come inside and tell me why you think what happened to your apartment has anything to do with me.”
When they stepped into the living area, Phelps had disappeared. Kurt gestured toward the sofa and the girl sat down.
Propping himself on the sofa’s arm, he looked down into her frightened eyes.
“Now tell me how I can help you, Miss, uh…”
“Barrett, Sarah. US Army. RN.”
“Well, Nurse Barrett, what can I do for you?”
The girl stuck her hand in her coat pocket and whipped out a scrap of paper that she waved in his face. “By telling me what’s on this paper and why it’s so important that somebody took a knife to my furniture.”

As for my venture in writing, it has allowed me to reinvent myself. We humans are truly multifaceted creatures, but unfortunately we tend to sort and categorize each other into neat, easily understood packages that rarely reveal the whole person. Perhaps you, too, want to step out of the box in which you find yourself. I encourage you to look at the possibilities and imagine. Be filled with childlike wonder in your mental wanderings. Envision what might be, not simply what is. Let us never forget, all good fiction begins when someone says to herself or himself, "Let's pretend."
I currently reside in Cypress, Texas with my sweet husband and a German Shorthaired Pointer who thinks she's a little girl.
Favorite quote regarding my professional passion: "History is filled with the sound of silken slippers going downstairs and wooden shoes coming up." Voltaire
