Kuruny pulled another jar off the witching wall and stuffed it into the bag straddled between her legs. She tried not to shake, but her hand quivered as she reached for another jar.
“Leave that, we can get more of it,” Kazza snapped. She sat on the other side of the cauldron, twisting the beads of her necklace with her fingertips. She shot a warning glance at Kuruny, watching as the younger sister put the jar back on the wall. Kazza swiveled on the stool and crossed her legs. Her white gown swept the floor as she stood and crossed the room. Brown hair fell in waves down her back. She studied the wall for a moment and grabbed something glittering and gray.
“This doesn’t grow in the Lands of Men.” She dropped the jar into the sack and met Kuruny’s gaze.
“He doesn’t know yet,” Kuruny said. It was half a question, half a statement. Eventually Istar would find out what she had done. She closed her black eyes and shook her head, sending locks of straight black hair falling over her shoulders.
“Nay, but others . . .” Kazza paused. Kuruny listened for sounds in the halls of the Lower East wing. She kept her thoughts close on their protection spell; none had bothered to check for supplies, yet there were plenty of herbs for healing in their quarters. Kazza eyed the rucksacks against the wall.
“Will come soon,” Kuruny finished for her. She ran her hands along the inside of the black sleeves of her dress. They tightly wrapped her arms to her elbows and loosely cascaded towards her wrist. She wasn’t used to this feeling. Avristar was meant to be home, a place away from the distortion they suffered in the Lands of Men, but Istar would have her head if Avristar herself didn’t sentence them to death. She shuddered at the thought and closed her eyes, thinking of Shimma. The third sister was lost in the forests where the enemy had retreated. They had barely enough time to communicate their wants to the youngest of their trio, and yet, they had to trust she would find what they needed—a way to salvation.
Kazza crossed the room and opened up a large armoire. Inside were three cloaks: one black, one beige, and one blue. Kazza handed the black one to her sister as she slid the beige one over her own shoulders, fitting the hood over her brown hair. Kuruny felt melancholy, as though the guilt had seeped into her bones.
“Come, there is no sense in facing him. You know his anger will know no bounds,” Kazza said.

But this is all about to change. Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She is a Greek goddess and her normal world is about to be eradicated forever. She is hunted by another god intent to steel her powers, when she runs into him another god jumps in to save her, but the only way to do this is to bind himself forever to her as his husband. This god is Hades, the lord of the underworld.

Persephone is about to take a crash course in being a goddess, but even more, being the wife of the great Hades.

Absolutely freaking fabulous! I love Greek mythology so this story was right up my alley. I loved watching Persephone go from quirky teenager to the queen of the underworld. She is brave and determined. But her love for her family and friends punches her to do the extreme, fight back even if she is still a mortal.

Kaitlin’s take on Hades was amazing. We see the side of him that is deemed fiction in mythology. Don’t get me wrong he doesn’t take any crap from anyone, but as the plot progress we start to see the caring side of him. I loved that Kaitlin didn’t make him the evil god as we always get to see with Hades, instead she shows us the god that take cares of all the souls that pass to the underworld.

Kaitlin made sure that the plot is captivating, nerve wrecking and just plain amazing. I was captured from page one and read this one in one sitting grabbing the second edition with eager anticipation. Well-deserved 5 stars and a must in any to be read list.

About the Author –
Niecey Roy knew she wanted to be a writer from a very young age, but her moment of enlightenment came after watching the movie You’ve Got Mail. It was then she realized her place in life, and happily parked her butt on writing romance. The child began screaming; a scream that made your blood run cold. Her mother instantly tried to placate her, eventually smothering her mouth when those attempts failed. That only intensified the screaming, agitating the girl more.

The gunman flew into a rage, demanding the girl be silenced before he silenced her. His hand twitched in fury. Could he honestly harm a child? I wondered, as fear crashed over me. The interminable screaming shrilled through the bank as the girl thrashed in her mother’s arms. My skin tingled, the air electrified with trepidation.

The gunman pointed the weapon directly at the child, narrowing his eyes. A growl erupted from his throat as his feeble control shattered and his finger pulled back the trigger.

There was no time left to decide, to think. There was only time to act. Instinctively, I jumped in front of the young girl as I heard the deafening crack of the gun being fired.

I jumped so violently that I awoke, drenched in sweat.

Whoa! This sounds like a thriller. How would you describe the book?

The extract was from a key scene in the book, which the plot builds towards (it’s in the prologue though, so it’s not a spoiler ;-) Her other premonitions are far less intense – things that would be plausible on a more regular basis. The drama and risk involved in her premonitions escalates as the story unfolds.

It’s not actually a thriller – it’s about her journey, exploring the ideas of fate and how we are all connected.

And there’s a love interest or two thrown in J Who doesn’t love a good romance?

The concept of the book makes you wonder just what any of us would do if we had similar premonitions. Would we ignore them or go out of our way and risk our lives to save the people in them?

That’s the question! The premonitions that Isabel experiences start off small and end up becoming increasingly challenging and risky. She needs to throw all of her previous ideas and plans out the window and discover what she’s really made of – and what’s really important to her.

Her experiences leave her questioning the idea of fate: what’s controllable, what isn’t, what is she willing to give and what is she willing to lose?

Where is the book set?

Mostly San Francisco, which I think is an ideal backdrop for the story. But Isabel travels to Florence, Italy at the beginning of the book, and three of the chapters are set there. I was actually in Florence when I wrote the first draft of those chapters, so I was inspired J

Speaking of inspiration, what inspired you to write the story?

I was fascinated by the idea of how someone would react in these types of circumstances, especially if that person was the opposite of someone you’d expect to be open to it. Could they ignore it? Would they feel compelled to act? Would they see it as a gift, or be angry and resentful about it?

I like the idea that nothing is what it seems. And just when you think you have it all figured out, the tables turn. What is the purpose, how much control does she really have and, in the end, who is it that is really saving who?

Plus, I like the idea of the girl being the one to save the guys for a change! ;-)

Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.

It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.

Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.
