Tiny or tall, brave or small—it is the size of our hearts that matter at all …
Legend tells that deep in the Land of Cambria, in the heart of the Magical Forest, a tiny race of enchanted beings, no bigger than a butterfly, still call the forest their home. Hidden away from the prying eyes of humans, these magical fairies keep their magic a secret from those who would use it for evil. Yet after thousands of years in hiding, the secret of the fairies is about to come out…
For young Raine, being a princess of the Magical Forest means duty before desire, and her fate to marry a fairy of her father’s choosing becomes a bit more complicated when she accidentally falls for Bryce—a human. In a desperate plea to be with the man she loves, Raine seeks the aid of Vitra, the Dragon Queen of the Dark Forest, in order to become a human and catch Bryce’s eye.
Blinded by true love and guided by destiny, Raine’s journey will jeopardize those she is sworn to protect and leave the fate of the Magical Forest to the evil forces at play. Can she save her kingdom from darkness? Or will she give up her heart’s true desire in order to realize her destiny?

Excerpt
Every day, Raine used her beautiful iridescent wings to fly through the forest. She flew through the buttercups and high into the air under the trees, then back down, skimming the tops of the tall, lush grass. She was also a friend to the animals, taking rides on the backs of rabbits and hummingbirds as she pleased. They never seemed to mind.
On her sixteenth birthday, she was flying through the forest when a loud rustling of leaves rushed to her ears, signaling to her that something huge was walking her way. She hid behind a tree and listened. It wasn’t a bear, as it wasn’t walking on four legs, and it was much too heavy footed to be a deer. As she listened, the beast drew near.
With all of her might, she summoned her courage and peeked around the tree to see what the monstrous thing was that made such great noise, causing all of the animals in the forest to scurry away. But when she looked around the edge of the tree, she gasped … for walking through the Magical Forest was a man.

TAKE PART IN A CHARITY ANTHOLOGY WITH A DIFFERENCE
WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CHARITY ANTHOLOGY WITH A DIFFERENCE – NO PRESCRIBED GENRE, OPEN TO ALL AUTHORS?
So – you all know I’m a trustee for The Being Me Charity. I had this kooky idea of putting an anthology together as a fund-raising initiative, from authors willing to participate on a non-profit basis. Sales proceeds will go to the charity. This isn’t an LGBTQ anthology, although I guess that’s where a lot of the stories may come from. The story line could be a challenge though, to perhaps move you out of your comfort zone and produce something different.

I’m looking for
• Short stories, around 2000 -4500 in length. This isn’t set in stone.
• Anything is suitable, from romance, to comedy, mystery, paranormal, drama, sci-fi to angst driven coping tales providing the human-interest aspect is sensitively tackled.
• This is a story about the person and their difference first, then written however the author sees it panning out in whichever way they want to tell it. If that’s M/M, F/F, M/F, etc. then that’s the author’s choice. There is no restriction.
• Gender and sexuality aspects really aren’t key factors to this collection unless that’s the difference the author is writing about or they wish to make it important to their tale.
• Stories need to be about people who feel they are different for any reason. They may be bullied, gay, transgender, or any other aspect of the Rainbow Alphabet. They could be straight, be of a different ethnicity, have two same sex parents, have a disabled sibling or parent, suffer from baldness, weight issues, dress Goth, work in a funeral parlour, do taxidermy, raise pink goats for a living or have something they feel sets them apart from the usual ‘societal norms’ of acceptance which leads to conflict and angst.
• It can be about people who’ve embraced their difference and own it; or people who struggle with it and keep it hidden.
• It can be YA, to NA, to more adult stories.
• It can be a family drama or simply one person’s story. It can be a person’s journey or simply a glimpse of one day in their lives.
• NOTE- ALL story content written will need to be suitable for a YA audience.
• There is no formula, no pre-conceived suggestions, just your own interpretation of this theme.
• I understand some readers might not like mixing genres, if that’s what happens, like this. That isn’t the point though- we’d hope that someone wanting to read this type of book will be open enough to the idea of reading about people from all walks of life, all sexualities, lifestyles and outlooks, all contained in one volume.
• The ultimate lure for someone to buy this book could be they get to read about someone #justlikethem. So #nodiscrimination #liveandletlive
I have a publisher for this project- Louis Harris from Cool Dudes Publishing has been kind enough to offer to provide some editing services, the cover and the publishing of the book. RAM PA Group are going to be co-ordinating all this for me.
If you’re interested please PM me and once I have enough interest, I’ll send you the publisher’s story spec and details and we can talk deadlines and process. Right now, I have no publication date in mind. It’s all open to negotiation!
Take a look at our website to see exactly what the Being Me Campaign is all about. It could even give you some inspiration when you read or listen to some of the stories people have submitted.

I probably say this every time I talk about Scott, but he is a driving force in the effort to bring Queer Sci-Fi and Fantasy to the world. To date most of his efforts have been to create a platform and give authors a voice. He’s written some very good short stories, but we’ve been…

Have you met Laverne?
Some of you may know Laverne Debussy-Smith, fashion designer extraordinaire. I had the pleasure of meeting up with her recently for a short interview. She was on her way to Frankfurt for a fashion show.
Me: Thank you for meeting with me Laverne. I love your shoes!
Laverne nods head regally, but she has a wicked sparkle in her eye.
“Thank you, chicken. I’m rather partial to them myself. They’ve been used in some interesting…positions.”
Laverne winks at me and I feel myself flush.
Wonderful, let’s get started on the questions then.
Me: As a businesswoman could you ever see yourself taking over Alan Sugar’s role on The Apprentice?
Laverne: Oh, my God, no. That man is one nasty piece of work and I have no intention of aspiring to be such an a-hole. However, give me a bevy of naked men parading around trying to sell me their new business ideas on fashion and I might consider having my own show. ‘Laverne Does Britain’, how’s that for a title?
Have you and Brook had any more moments like that backstage at Club Delish?
Laverne fans herself but that naughty twinkle in her eyes is still there.
“How on earth did you hear about that -were there hidden cameras in that damn room? I wouldn’t put it past that cheeky Ryan to have those to record his own dalliances in there with the delicious Mango. I’d pay to see those snippets…but darling, don’t you know a lady never kisses and tells?”
She blows a kiss at me, like Marilyn Munro. I feel oddly privileged to have been treated to one of them.[image error]
Me: Have you met Brook’s parents yet?
Oh God, yes. It was the most nerve wracking experience of my life. I was throwing up for two days before we went there. I shouldn’t have worried. Dianne and Harry were absolutely charming and I can see where Brook gets his poise and good looks from. I made a bit of a fool myself over the snacks but then I’m used to ribs in a bucket, not that fancy cuisine they like to serve.
What is the best piece of advice Leslie has ever given to you?
“Ahh, my favourite little chicken. “ Laverne sighs fondly. “He told me to get my head out of my arse and consider following the path of true love.” Laverne grins. “That wasn’t quite how it turned out, from my side anyway, but it all worked out for the best. Of course, that meeting in my office added five years onto my life, it was one of the most surreal experiences ever. And I’ve had a few of those.”
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2017?
Laverne rolls her eyes. “Sweetheart, no one sticks to those bloody things. The minute the first week of January is over, if not sooner, everyone goes back to their old tricks and all good intentions are forgotten” She smirks. “And I’m not one for good intentions. I prefer the bad kind.”
I want to curtsy as she stands up to leave to catch her plane. I close off the interview with a handshake and a sniff of Laverne’s entrancing perfume
Well, as always, it’s been a pleasure. Thanks so much for coming down and answering my questions. And do pass my regards onto Leslie and Oliver. Tell them I’ll be in touch soon.

A top rated and insightful Review by Amos Lassen
I believe that the most beautiful love exists when two lovers are also best friends. Nate and Cody share a friendship that began when they were children. They always had felt that they belonged together and after a weekend in Florida when they were teens, they understood that they were destined to be together forever. However for whatever reason, Nate stopped that. Nonetheless, their friendship did not suffer as a result, they stayed best friends with each going his own way and each found his own partner. They still lust after each other but secretly and when a tragic event occurs, they feel something is missing. Whatever had stopped the physical love that they once shared, hurt the two in ways only that they could know.
After a tragic automobile accident, Nate becomes blind and he knows that his life will never again be what it once was. Cody, his best friend has always felt great love for Nate but never really knew that Nate felt the same for him. Our story is told through the eyes of blind Nate and let me deviate from my review to add something personal here. I have a very close blind friend who has taught me so much about life as “seen through her eyes”. She feels things that I have always thought I was incapable of doing but I learned as I listened to and watched her.
The lives of the unsighted are very different from our own and I certainly feel so much better because I can experience blindness through her. She has opened me to look at those with physical and mental disabilities differently than I ever have before. Putting myself in Nate’s place was not that difficult for me because of this and I can tell you that author MacNichol has done an incredible job with Nate. I know the frustration that comes along with blindness and the very way that Nate deals with rejecting his sighted boyfriend shows this beautifully. We see that even though he is blind, his artistry remains and he maintains the ability to create beauty with the pottery he makes.
I feel myself wanting to say more about the plot but I am forcing restraint so as not to write any spoilers. This is a beautiful book and I want everyone to share in its beauty without my giving something away. I know that it is sometimes hard to see the forest because of the trees often is a true statement and it certainly is true for Nate and Cody.
