sight-unseen

Based on an idea from L.A. producer and actor, Nicholas Downs, Susan and Nicholas have developed a story straight from the heart.

In a gripping tale of lovers fighting against the odds comes a story of universal appeal about rejection and acceptance

and finally finding what is real and true.

BLURB

Tragedy brings together a reserved but brilliant sculptor and an outgoing gallery owner, friends whose love was sidetracked but was always meant to be deeper.

BLINDSIDED

SoCal natives, Nate and Cody have been friends since childhood. Both knew they were different—and the same. At seventeen, a stolen weekend in the Florida Keys drove their connection deeper and hotter than either could imagine. They were meant to be together. Then, for reasons only Nate knows, suddenly they weren’t.

They’re still friends. Best friends. But they’ve moved on and found other partners. The yearning remains, however, despite the long-ago secret that drove them apart, when tragedy strikes, both men find themselves in the dark. They must grope their way back to who and what they are…which they will find in each other’s arms. Sometimes, losing one’s sight can open one’s eyes—and heart.

Sight Unseen Cover Reveal -Release Day 26th January 2017

I’m really excited today because the project Hollywood actor Nicholas Downs and I have been working on is getting closer to completion. The book is written; the cover is revealed (isn’t it stunning) and in December we start working on the screen play together. I’m nervous. I’ve only ever done a short screen play and I think I need some more practice. Hopefully Nicholas can teach me a few things or two. It’s also my first book set in the US, in Los Angeles so that took some time to get right. Luckily as Nicholas lives there and my editor is a New Yorker living in SoCal, both of them were a tremendous help in getting the details and location right. Boroughs Publishing Group have been instrumental in bringing this book into the world and for that, both Nicholas and I offer our heartfelt thanks. Especially to Michelle Klayman (my editor and confidante) who helped us get to this point, and Chris Keeslar, who, as always, excelled himself at creating the cover.

Anyway here’s the front  cover, and if you scroll down, you’ll see the full wrap as well which is HOT!

I’ve also included the Goodreads link further down where you can add it to your TBR and the universal Amazon buy link. Other links will follow as soon as I have them because I know not everyone shops at Amazon.

I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. Be warned – this is a slow burn book with less sex than any of my others, but I hope that doesn’t stop you reading it. After all, it’s the story that the most important, right?

Being Me Author Lunch event in London

event-banner

So, what do Susan Mac Nicol, Harper Fox, KC Wells, Sue Brown, Rhys Ethan, Aleksandr Voinov and RJ Scott have in common? Well, the answer is that they’ve all pooled their time and resources for one lucky person and their guest to join them at an intimate lunch event at a cosy, central London restaurant. You’ll both be wined and dined, there will be great goodie bags for you, and each one of these authors will sign a copy of a book you fancy having in your library.

Why are they doing this? One reason is they all love their readers. The other one is a little more serious. Susan Mac Nicol is a trustee for The Being Me Campaign — www.beingmecampaign.com — and this is one of the ways these authors are trying to help Susan raise money for the organisation. Susan’s fellow authors have been incredibly supportive giving her their time and contributing to the event. Ditto for the Being Me Campaign Chairwoman and co- founder, Tracy Shayler, who’ll be joining them at this dinner. So, there’ll be a table for eight set up for them- who will be the other two people who’ll be there for this evening of fun, food and laughter no doubt, and the opportunity to ask us anything you ever wanted to know about them, their books, the genre or the charity?

 dinner-table-1433494_1920

Pictures will be taken and there may even do some live streaming from the event.

You can donate and participate here : Being Me Author Lunch Event

The date of this dinner is Saturday 14th January 2017. A venue has not yet been determined but it will be in central London, chosen for easy access. The time is 12h30 pm. Dress is whatever makes you feel comfortable.

All you need to do to participate in this exciting event is donate £5.00 (or more if you fancy) to the charity over the next 30 days. The winner will be announced on the 22nd December, just in time for Christmas. Make sure you click the £5.00 donation sum if you’re only buying one. For every £5.00 you donate, you are entered into the draw again for the prize. There is only one winner chosen.

The competition is open to anyone all over the world of course because we didn’t want to discriminate. Logic tells us however flying in from abroad for this event might not be feasible. However, that’s your call if you donate* and you win!

We’re sorry that this event is limited to the UK but we didn’t see how we’d be able to facilitate this any other way.

There are some terms and conditions, and you can read them below. Please make sure you read and understand them because the organisers would hate you to be disappointed about anything. If you have any questions, please email susan@beingmecampaign.com

*There are limitations to this offer so please read the terms and conditions. chuffed.org also add 0.35p to your donation so the final amount will be £5.35. If you want to only donate £5.00, please enter the amount as £4.65. NOTE: chuffed. org will also add an optional payment to your donation- please ensure you remove this so you aren’t charged for it on the payment screen.

BLURB

Tough in business but romantic at heart, fashion designer Lenny James isn’t hiding his masculinity behind his super successful female alter ego, but a vulnerability that only handsome financier Brook Hunter will be man enough to reveal…and worship.

TWO OF A KIND

It’s amazing what a little mascara and lipstick, a blonde wig, false boobs, and top-notch female fashion can hide. Not that Lenny James is hiding his masculinity. He uses his normal voice when he’s Laverne, and he’s not particularly…

Characters I’d invite to my Halloween Party

dinner-table-1433494_1920

I was asked recently who I’d invite to a Halloween party if I could invite anyone in the world that I wanted. I gave it a bit of thought and came up with this list.

Stephen King – horror writer. I love his writing, his characters and the fact he lives in Maine. This is one place I’ve always wanted to visit in the US so if I invite him to my party, his innate politeness will dictate he feels obliged to invite me to his place. As long as he pays the bill to get me over there of course. His house looks so spooky and I’d love to sit and shoot the breeze with the man.

I’d insist that Stephen brings Pennywise with him. The clown from IT has to be one of the scariest dudes ever. I have two reasons for inviting this rather malevolent entity to my party. One is that he will scare the crap out of the Neighbourhood kids and I rather like that idea.

clown-1537543_1280As an aside, I think I have this deep rooted desire to feed on people’s fear -a little like old Penny himself. Not to mention the fact that my twenty year old daughter has a bit of a phobia about clowns. I once offered a birthday present to her that she almost had a heart attack over. There’s a gent that dresses like a clown and stalks the birthdayee. (It’s a great word, so stop frowning) The guy hides behind lamp posts, jumps out of dark corners, and generally makes their life miserable as they wonder where he’s going to turn up next. My daughter didn’t like that idea for some reason so letting Pennywise smile at her from across a crowded room while gently fondling a carving knife sounds like a great substitute. (Uhhmm, she doesn’t seem to like that idea either. But who cares. It amuses me.)

So that’s two party goers taken care of. My next guest would be the incredibly talented chef Hannibal Lecter. The young Hannibal is pretty yummy, but Mr. Hopkins would be a delight too. Hannibal is a man of great discernment, witty conversation and he’s remarkably intelligent. He’s dapper, well spoken and honestly, any hostess should be privileged to have him. I’d sit him next to someone I really didn’t like and watch the chemistry between them ignite.  I hope nothing else develops though, like a torn out liver in a state of being flambéed and served with a nice cranberry coulis.

meal-918639_1920

I need a lady guest or two to balance this out. So I say a warm welcome to Nurse Ratched, she from ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.’ Unfortunately she won’t be able to say anything back as her vocal cords were irreparably damaged when Randle McMurphy tried to choke her to death. But I’ll put a pen and notepad at the side of her table setting and she can at least have a conversation that way. She promised she would bring her little black bag of drugs with her in case any of the other guests got out of hand.

And of course no Halloween party would be complete without the loveliness of Bellatrix Lestrade, the loveable, psychotic  pure bred witch and Death Eater from the Harry Potter series. Her  Gothic beauty and her sadistic and violent tendencies, coupled with her narcissistic tendencies would fit in really well with the other dinner guests. She and Hannibal could trade cooking recipes perhaps, while Pennywise could nuzzle her lovely neck with his rather large teeth. Stephen would be sitting observing the character interplay for his next book, and Nurse Ratched would probably be trying to bully and intimidate all the dinner guests. I’m guessing though that this would be quite a feat to achieve…woman-1684113_1920

And of course, there would be me, Hostess Extraordinaire, watching the casual interaction between my dinner guests with a fond smile and a very large gun held in my hand under the table. The weapon would be necessary in case any of the humans decided to turn on me. Of course, I’d need a couple of magic spells, an incantation or two and the Ritual of Chüd. (Google this if you’re not sure what the hell I’m on about and you’ll find out which character it can kill) I would wine and dine these guests, listen avidly to their stories, laugh at their jokes and then set them loose on an unsuspecting public.  After all, it is Halloween. People expect to have the bejesus scared out of them and I think my dinner guests will do this admirably.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next one on the 31st October 2016. Come along and join the fun. I think you’ll enjoy yourselves. Oh, and leave the children at home. Just  in case. You know how IT loves little kiddies.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

On The Boil

I haven’t blogged for a while so I thought it was time to let you all know what’s going on in my writing life right now.

Typewriter

#IAmWriting
#IAmWriting
#IAmPromoting
#IAmOnSocialMedia
#RealLifeIsInterferingwith1234

The story of my life in 5 short hashtags actually. But it’s okay, I love the pressure. I have a lot going on in my writing life at present, which is defined as anything that’s come about through my writing of sexy books. I’m still bowled over by what my life is like now, compared to what is was before 2012, which is when I started writing ‘professionally’. So much has happened and it’s a little dream- like.

I’ve got one book in edits at the moment with my publisher. This story is titled Sight Unseen and it’s a collaboration effort with well-known LA actor Nicholas Downs. He had the original story idea and a screenplay, and I developed it into a novel. The release date for this one is 29 November.  If you fancy participating in the 3-day release blitz click here

The most exciting fact about this book is that it’s been specially written with the idea of turning it into a screen-play in 2017 to get the story to film. Nicholas and I will be writing this together and I’m thrilled with the idea.

You can check out our progress on our Facebook page or on Twitter @SightUnseenPR. Follow us on Instagram @sightunseenla

facebook_1471874837917

Next, I’m working on the ninth Men of London book. It’s called Survival Game and features Kyle Tripper, the quirky Club Delish nightclub manager and ex Las Vegas casino dealer and Eric Kirby, a London paramedic with his own demons. I’m thrilled that I’m being guided by a real life London paramedic as part of my book research. He’s been awesome in telling me everything I need to know and I may even get to go on an observation shift with him to see first-hand how things are done. I’ve been in an ambulance as a patient before so it would be nice simply to be an observer. I’ll keep you posted on that one. I don’t have a release date for this one at the moment.

I’m also trying to finish Living on Air, my rather emotional and dark story set in a circus and featuring a very tormented aerialist. I intend self-publishing this one although another publishing house is interested in it. They can offer me access into book stores so it’s something to think about. Once it’s written, I’ll take stock of the options.

I’ve also written around 40k on a YA/NA fantasy book (I haven’t quite decided exactly which one yet), with two fine questing, coming of age heroes, imaginary worlds, wizards, talking doors, magical fish, and a very nasty villainess who does gross things. I started writing this when I was seventeen and kept it going over the years but never finished it. I really want to though. Perhaps with a fellow writing collaborator? Who knows.

unnamed-65

I have so many plot bunnies on the boil, I’m not sure I’ll manage to do them all. I’d love to write a gritty thriller series featuring Clay and Tate from Feat of Clay. I have an idea for a steam punk, Gothic horror type romance based on a very well know classic horror story. I have another series idea featuring hotels around the world and a lot of intrigue and deception. I’ve also got a rock star book in mind, one with a difference. I just need to be cloned so I can write them all.

As part of my writing, I’ve met some incredible people and got involved with some very worthwhile causes. One of them is me being a charity trustee for the Being Me Campaign –

http://www.beingmecampaign.com/get-involved/

If you’d like to upload a video for us on what makes you, you, please follow this link for the easy instructions

I think that’s it for now, no doubt the list will grow and I’ll end up needing to run off somewhere, breathe and focus. For now though, I’m trundling along hoping that it all comes to fruition….

2016 Summer Indie Book Awards!

My book, Hard Climate, number eight in the Men of London series,  has been nominated for this award in the Romance category and I’m really chuffed. (For those of you don’t know British slang, it means really, really pleased and delighted)

Hard Climate is book eight in my Men of London series, with this very hawt cover….

c3646-hard2bclimate2bebook2bcover

You can vote for my book here in the Romance category here

Romance: http://goo.gl/xHGf3r

Keep in mind these links won’t be active until midnight Central US time on the early morning of September 1, so you won’t see anything there just yet.

THE VOTING PROCESS

Voting for the awards will be done by Pollmaker and links and instructions will be posted soon, hopefully a week before voting is due to start. Voting will be limited to one visit per day for anyone, until midnight on September 11, 2016. You may vote in any or all genres. Each genre will allow you to make multiple choices, as long as you checkmark them all BEFORE you hit the vote button for the first time.

https://metamorphpublishing.com/summer-indie-book-awards/

So here’s a bit more form Metamorph Publishing on the Summer Indie Book Awards – #SIBA.

The cold of winter is setting in, at least for those of us in the northern Hemisphere of the world. But we at Metamorph Publishing aren’t letting that get us down! We’re already looking forward to a sizzling summer, and we’re here to announce our first annual Indie Book Awards! You heard that right, a summer book awards! The event officially begins on January 1st of each year, and nominations are accepted through midnight CST on August 22nd each year. Voting will begin on September 1st and end on September 10th each year.

“What’s the big deal,” you ask? “There are all kinds of contests out there.” And you’re right, there are hundreds, probably thousands of book awards. But many of them are only for unpublished authors, or authors who only write in certain narrow genres, or for authors who have never published before in a particular genre. Plus, there are plenty of them that charge an entry fee, some of which are prohibitive to authors who publish independently, without the backing of a large and powerful publishing house.

Feel free to join up with the event on Facebook at:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1099924726693772, and like the official Facebook page of the Summer Indie Book Awards at

https://www.facebook.com/summerindiebookawards. You can also sign up for the newsletter at: http://eepurl.com/bL43cf so you can stay up to date with all the latest news!

How do we reward winners?

Winners in each genre will receive a prize beginning with the 1st place winners. If we get enough prizes donated, we’ll go next to 2nd place winners, and then to 3rd place. Regardless of the prizes, winners will get a high-quality winner badge, stating their place and the genre of the book. These will be of high enough resolution for authors to use on their print books, if they want to!

But it’s not only the winners that will benefit from the Summer Indie Book Awards! All nominated authors will have the potential to reach hundreds, if not more, of new readers (readers often have a preferred genre, and while they’re voting for their favorite author, will come across others they may not have tried yet), and reach a huge new audience through the social media forums! And best of all, it’s meant to have fun, to reach out and network with other authors, potentially forming long-lasting relationships. And readers will benefit from having a wealth of new books in front of them, as well as a vast amount of new stories to immerse themselves in.

Though we’re using Facebook and other social media as a platform to reach more authors and readers, none of these social media outlets are affiliated with the awards. They are hosted strictly by Metamorph Publishing. Why not use hashtag #SIBA and help get the word out.
