She is different, unique, and one of a kind. Even in this weird new world. In a world ravaged by an inter-species war and almost devoid of Witches, she has to hide, keeping her heritage a secret. Only two people knew the truth about her: her father and her mentor; her savior, Seth. A highly trained assassin, she kills with impunity if the target deserves such a sentence. Unfortunately, far too many do. The lawlessness that stretches from coast to coast allowing unspeakable acts to go unpunished.
Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, and a host of other species now run free upon the earth and some of them were downright evil. She tasks herself with dealing with wrongdoers whenever she can. She is strong, fearless and powerful. An anomaly, probably the only Witch/Wolf hybrid left alive. She shields herself from detection. If anyone knew she has Witch DNA they would all come after her and she couldn’t take such a horde on and live.
Her assignments as the ‘go to’ assassin for The Council give her plenty of opportunity to wreak justice upon those who deal in death and destruction. Her targets mostly found dead with black lips and tongue; a result of her spells and not just the poison everyone thinks. So, when the new Head of the Council, Basilius, a Demon, tasks her with taking out the most powerful Vampire alive she can’t refuse. Can she?
The Black Rose will strike again for the good of humanity. It’s what she believes she’s been born to do and she will tackle this as she does all of her missions; with deadly intent. There’d be no difference this time. Would there? Or is the dangerous Vampire, Cassius Allarde, not all that he seems?
Come follow Rose’s journey as she fights to find out the truth. About the Demon, the Vampire and the Witch hunt that destroyed most of her kind. Book 1 in A K Michaels new series, The Black Rose Chronicles. If you like your dystopian books with the added bonus of supernatural beings in abundance then this book is for you.

This week’s featured author is Mary Leo.
Before we get to the interview, let me share a bit about Mary with you.

USA Today bestselling author Mary Leo writes contemporary romance, paranormal romance, romantic suspense, and mystery. She loves to travel for research while she’s writing a book, or for that matter, even when she’s not writing a book . . . which always leads to yet another book.
Mary grew up on the Southside of Chicago in the tangle of a big Italian family where she learned the art of story from her creative mamma who would craft a wondrous tale each night at bedtime, and where Mary developed an appreciation for fine Italian cuisine from her colorful aunts and uncles.

Her Favorite Cowboy by Mary Leo
Gage Remington needs a place to start over, and Durango, Colorado, is it. By reconciling with his rancher grandfather while attending the annual Zane Grey West Society’s annual conference, Gage hopes he can begin repairing past damage. It doesn’t occur to Gage that his heart needs fixing, too, until he meets gorgeous doctor Cori Parker. And he’s sure his troubled past will send the single mom running.
Since her husband’s tragic accident, Cori’s been focusing on her family. Though she’s deeply attracted to Wall-Street-broker-turned-buckaroo, Gage is a wild card, and she can’t let anyone bring her life crashing down again. Still, she realizes Gage is finally ready to be the man—and the cowboy—he always wanted to be. But will Cori be part of his future, or one more regret from his past?
Are you a plotter or pantser?
I’m a combination of both. I do a little plotting of the basic turning points along with a few of the scenes I want to include, but for the most part, I make it up as I go along.
What was the most difficult part of the publishing process for you?
In the beginning, it was finding my voice. I wrote a dark book first, which I eventually published on my own, Trusting Evil. I couldn’t sell that book no matter how many times I tried. Then, I met someone at a writer’s conference who said, “Why don’t you try writing romance?” I thought about it for a few weeks, attended a local RWA chapter meeting, pitched a story to a Harlequin editor I met at my first RWA conference, wrote the book, and sold it to that same editor all within a year of the suggestion. It changed my life forever.
How about the most fun?
Seeing my book on the shelf for the first time was a real treat! Plus, I love all the friends I’ve made. It’s been such a blessing to get to know so many fascinating people, especially all the strong, determined women in publishing. They are a true force to be reckoned with…
What inspired you to write your first book?
I had something to say about innocence verses true evil. It’s as relevant today as it was when I first wrote that book. Plus, it’s by far my most meaningful book…Trusting Evil.
Do you have any writing rituals? (Time of day to write, must have beverages? Etc?)
I’d like to say I wear a Tierra whenever I write…or that I write in the nude…or I can only write when Chopin is playing in the background, but none of that is true. Ha! I write every day no matter what is going on, what I’m wearing and what I have on my head is irrelevant. That being said, I prefer writing in the morning with a cup of steaming hot tea in a pretty cup on my desk. I travel with my own tea and honey bear. I love local honey, which is impossible to get in a restaurant.
Who is your go-to author, the one you know you can always count on to deliver a great story?
I don’t really have just one go-to author… It’s more like five or six authors: Jill Shalvis, Brenda Novak, Bella Andre, Stephanie Bond, and my husband, Richter Watkins who writes awesome thrillers.
What projects are you working on at the present?
I’m working on a Christmas novella, Tails, Time and St. Nick, for a boxed set. Plus, I’m working on another cowboy proposal for Harlequin. I absolutely love to write about cowboys and small towns.
What do your plans for future projects include?
My next Harlequin book after Her Favorite Cowboy, will be released in December: A Christmas Wedding For The Cowboy. But my writing projects for the next sixteen months include at least three more novellas, two more Harlequin American books, one more mystery in my Spia Family series, and a surprise book that will be part of a series with four other bestselling authors.

Release Blitz: Knight Errant by Rue Allyn
Thank you Constance for this opportunity to visit with you and your readers.
I’ve been scratching my head trying to decide what would cause a medieval romance to appeal to readers of paranormal and contemporary romances. For paranormal readers, the other worldly aspects of the European Middle Ages is a common bond. However it is precisely those ‘other worldly aspects,’ which might cause readers of contemporaries to give historical romances—especially those set in the Middle Ages—a pass.
The unifying factor for all romance is the physical, emotional and/or spiritual relationship between the lovers. Without that there is no romance regardless of the period or setting. What I can say about my August 17th release, Knight Errant is that the relationship between Robert and Juliana is intense from the moment they meet to the moment when each must choose despair or love. For me, that intensity is an absolute necessity for any book to be a ‘must read.’
If you’d like more information about Knight Errant or my other books, I’ve included a blurb and links below.
Please leave a comment and let me know what makes a book a ‘must read’ for you.
Knight Errant by Rue Allyn
Lady Juliana Verault gladly left England—and its men—far behind in her quest to live as a Beguine. But the Christian community ceases to provide a safe haven when she’s called to travel to Palermo, Italy, where she’s entrusted with a letter from the pope that could radically change the church’s stance on women. Juliana holds the key to upending the power structure throughout Europe, but only if she can dodge her cousin, King Edward I of England, and his betrothal plans for her.
Edward sets Sir Robert Clarwyn, a knight errant and loyal hunter of criminals and traitors, on Juliana’s trail to retrieve her. Robert has never failed to bring home his target before … but then, he has never encountered a quarry like Lady Juliana, who can befuddle and bemuse him with just a smile.
If he can’t find a way to compel her to return to England, he’ll lose any chance of regaining his family lands and redeeming his heritage. Yet Juliana must complete her mission or risk endangering her gender’s future in the faith.
With danger and intrigue mounting, Robert and Juliana must rely on each other and be willing to risk everything … including their hearts.

ABOUT RUE Allyn
Author of historical, contemporary and erotic romances, I fell in love with happily ever after the day I heard my first story. (Yes, I was a precocious little brat who read at the age of two, but I could hear much earlier than that.) I studied literature for far too many years before discovering that writing stories was much more fun than analyzing them. Heck, as an author, I get to read the story before anyone else. I am happily married to my sweetheart of many, many years. My husband and I share the home of two cats, who condescend to allow me to feed them and clean their litter box. (The cats only tolerate my husband’s assistance when I am not available.)They occasionally permit me to pet them but demand my love and attention as their right. (Funny, my husband demands the same. Could I be married to my cats? Does that make me a trigamist?) Regardless of my specific relationship status with our cats, I am in awe of their feline ability to dominate with half a glance or a mere twitch of tail. Insatiably curious, an avid reader and traveler, I love to hear from readers about your favorite books and real life adventures. Crazy Cat stories are especially welcome. You can send me your words of wisdom… Don’t shake your head at me; all words are wise in one context or another. You can trust me on this; I’m an author. As I was saying, you can send your words of wisdom, humor, and friendship to me at contact@RueAllyn.com. Can’t wait to hear from you.

The Interview:
Tell us about your latest release?
Cold Water Bridegroom is a contemporary paranormal romance set in San Francisco. It’s written much from the male hero’s point of view. It’s a clean read, but “PG-13” for sensual situations.
Are you a plotter or pantser?
I am most definitely a pantser, but I am trying to learn how to write to beats. I’ve learned that beats make me more productive, and they are not nearly as a creative buzz-kill to me as sitting down to draft an outline. I used to try to outline. It just doesn’t work well for me.
What was the most difficult part of the publishing process for you?
I think, in general, people don’t realize how many times you have to comb through your piece. Toward the end, you’ve been through it so many times that you are sick of those characters. By the time I got to proofreading, I found myself in front of Cold Water Bridegroom but daydreaming about a SciFi series or supernatural noir.
How about the most fun?
Always, the most fun for me is the initial creation of the idea and the characters. I do also really enjoy the promo side of things. (:
What inspired you to write your first book?
As always, I was inspired by reading. I was a teen when I wrote my first about a talking emu. His name was Pixley. I named him after a local lumber company, and I was trying to write a middle grade novella. I still have it, even, floating somewhere in my stacks of novel-starts and short stories and piles of poetry.
Do you have any writing rituals? (Time of day to write, must have beverages? Etc?)
I usually write business communications, newspaper articles, or blog posts in the mornings. Social media is also a morning thing for me. I always make the best strides on any fiction work-in-progress between 8 p.m. and midnight. And Fridays are my flash fiction days. My next two ideas (a five book SciFi series about two sets of twins and a supernatural noir about an angel that loses her wings) have both come from my flash fiction Friday ritual. You can search #FeelinFlashy on Twitter to track where I enter.
Also, must have beverage: coffee. Sometimes, I drink Oolong tea, Red Rooibos tea, and Green teas when I feel convicted about the creamer I drink within the amount of coffee I inadvertently consume.
Who is your go-to author, the one you know you can always count on to deliver a great story?
It depends on my mood. I really like Melanie Karsak’s Airship Racing Chronicles. All the authors in the Blazing Indie Collective are good reads (A.W. Exley, Emil Goodwin, Eli Constant, Margo Bond Collins, Erin Hayes, Staci Hart – the list is quite long).
Anna Albergucci has a great family saga: The Phoenix Decree Saga. A.R. Draeger has a sort-of SciFi horror called Daughters of Men that I really like. I also enjoy reading flash fiction periodicals.
What projects are you working on at the present?
I recently pitched the first book in my SciFi series to two publishing houses. They are both interested in seeing a more of it, so I am currently polishing that. The working title is Four Winds from a Tempest.
What do your plans for future projects include?
Recently, I did an interview with Ilana Masad from The Other Stories. My podcast/interview will probably be released in September. Ilana is always looking for new authors to interview, and listening to the backlog of interviews they have available is always inspiring. I had such a great time; I would like to do more podcasts.
Also, next spring, I want to publish my supernatural angel noir. It’s called Woe for a Faerie. The Faerie is the bad guy. Much like Cold Water Bridegroom is in the Falling in Deep Collection, this angelic noir novella will be released through a collective. Watch for that next spring with the second book in the summer of 2016.
Cold Water Bridegroom
Having grown up in San Francisco, Calder Brumen is drawn to the ocean, and he’s spent his life trying to capture the beauty of the Pacific on canvas. Over time, he has become obsessed with painting the image of a dark haired mermaid named Gaire, and Calder struggles to explain his devotion to these portraits to his best friend. When Calder finds sandy footprints leading to the edge of his bed, he suspects that the haunting siren is real.
Pursuing the truth, Calder is dragged into a murderous, underwater plot that could destroy them all. And he must choose – is the possibility of a lifetime with Gaire worth risking death for himself and everyone he loves?

Hi. I’m Opal Carew, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. I write erotic romance for St. Martin’s Press and Samhain Publishing, and I self-publish stories. I also write romance as Amber Carew.
So why do I like writing erotic romance? I like being able to push beyond traditional boundaries. I like dealing with a female character who is growing and evolving – questioning her sexual boundaries and pushing past them. My stories usually include menage a trois. It is great fun to write a heroine choosing between two equally appealing heroes… or more.
These aren’t women who just jump into bed with anyone. They find themselves in an unusual situation – something exciting and erotic – but a situation where they have to push themselves beyond their comfort level. As a result, they grow as a person. So often fear holds us back – of what others will think of us, of what we will think about ourselves – and we don’t follow our hearts. These women push past that fear.

Friday Featured Author: Jennifer Faye
Today’s Featured author is Jennifer Faye. Before we get to the interview, let me share her bio!
Jennifer Faye
As far back as I can remember, I’ve had my nose buried in a book. I remember anxiously awaiting Santa to bring me a typewriter in order to write my first book. But before I could reach for my dreams, my life took a detour. I moved around a bit before settling into the position of statistician by day and wife/mother by night. Each new life adventure added fodder for my fertile imagination. Through it all I never lost sight of my dream.
When at last I had the opportunity to once again put pen to paper, I couldn’t stop. As an unpublished writer, I’ve gone on to win/final in nearly two dozen contests including Harlequin’s “So You Think You Can Write” Contest (2-time finalist), Finally A Bride (winner), and Linda Howard Award of Excellence (finalist).
I currently reside in Pennsylvania with my very patient husband, one amazing daughter (the other remarkable daughter has flown the coop to chase her own dreams) and two spoiled rotten cats. When I’m not glued to my laptop (which isn’t often) or enjoying some family time, I like reading, cross-stitch, embroidery, quilting, knitting, hockey (go Pittsburgh Penguins!), and gardening.

RETURN OF THE ITALIAN TYCOON is the second book in The Vineyards of Calanetti series (it can be read as a stand alone). Monte Calanetti, the home for the series, is a picture-perfect village nestled amongst rolling vineyards, deep in the Tuscan countryside.
A lot of times the thought of going home can make a person smile broadly as a sense of eager anticipation has them racing out the door… homeward bound. Then there are those other times–those not-so-great trips home. You know the ones, where a pending homecoming sends a nervous tremor through a person’s stomach and makes their palms moist.
Well, Angelo Amatucci is about to have one of those not-so-great homecomings. When he’s summoned back to Italy, it isn’t for a joyous reunion with his brother and sister. And it doesn’t help matters that returning to the small Tuscan village will cause him to come face-to-face with a tangled web of emotions. But he doesn’t let any of that deter him– not when his family needs him.
Kayla Hill is the loyal assistant with her eyes on a promising career. She’s a small-town girl making her way in the big city. And now that she’s latched her wagon on to Angelo, a brilliant star in the advertising industry, she’s certain that success is at last within her grasp–if only she can keep her thoughts focused on work and not on her exceedingly handsome boss. But when Angelo leads her on a wondrous, romantic journey through the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, all bets are off.
RETURN OF THE ITALIAN TYCOON is a book that just kept going and going. Alas in order to make the max word count for the printers, there had to be lots of creative trimming. It was very hard to say goodbye to the characters.
Blurb:
Promoted…to wife?
Tough tycoon Angelo Amatucci must return to the Tuscan village of his childhood. With a lot of work to do, he brings his dedicated assistant Kayla Hill with him.
As beautiful Kayla falls for the village’s charms, she also discovers a new, very attractive side to Angelo—working with him to secure a wedding contract is blissful torture! Especially as Kayla begins to wonder what it would be like to be Mrs. Amatucci…

His Lost-and-Found Bride by Scarlet Wilson
The Best Man & the Wedding Planner by Teresa Carpenter
His Princess of Convenience by Rebecca Winters
Saved by the CEO by Barbara Wallace
Are you a plotter or pantser?
I’m a reformed pantser. In the beginning, I wrote by the seat of my pants, but I quickly learned that I had a lot of heavy revising to do. Figuring there just had to be an easier way to craft a story, I started taking plotting classes. Let me tell you, there are a lot of ways to outline a story from mapping to storyboards. It took a while, but I finally found the process that clicked with my brain. So now, I write a detailed synopsis before I start writing the book. It is so much easier to revise a synopsis than a fully written book.

The Interview:
Tell us about your latest release?
Eyes of Betrayal is one of those books that has stuck with me. Villain being one of my favorite heroes. I originally wrote and released this book with Amber Quill Press, along with the first book in the series, Kiss of Deceit. I decided to go self-publishing and pulled the books to re-release. These are two of my favorite romantic suspense novels.
Villain is a tortured soul. He lived in foster homes, bounced around until he found his place with the motorcycle club Lords of Lucifer. He served time to keep their secrets. Now, he wants out but the club isn’t so forgiving when he takes the club presidents girlfriend with him in an attempt to save her life.
He really is one of the good guys.
Are you a plotter or pantser?
I am mostly a panster, but I am trying to get better at plotting. Since I am currently working on the 4th book in my paranormal series Sons of Sangue, it needs a bit more plotting and attention to keep up with the continuing story line which will continue to stretch across a few more books.
What was the most difficult part of the publishing process for you?
Since I no longer traditionally publish, I would say the formatting. I was used to turning in the novel, editing it, then letting the publisher format and get it ready for retail. Now—I have an awesome editor so I don’t mind the edits so much. I know she’s helping me make my work better. Getting the book in the different formats and onto online retailers can be tedious, though.
How about the most fun?
Other than writing it? Interacting with the readers and seeing what they think of my new work. It’s by far the best part for me. I also love to put out the book and create little ads and memes to post on Facebook and the other social media sites. I do wish it was easy as sticking to just the writing, though. That would be a dream. Even though, I would still want o interact with the readers.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I have always had a big imagination. When my kids were in school all day and I was a stay at home mom (for a very brief period), I started reading a lot of romances and loved them. I did some creative writing in school. It was as simple as saying: I can do this. Then the hard part started—I did do it. Do you have any writing rituals? (Time of day to write, must have beverages? Etc?)
I do. I write nights and weekends because I still have a day job (which I love, I’m very lucky). So after supper, I like to get my headphones, tune into David Garrett (because I cannot do lyrics or I’ll sing

My Review:
Crazy About You is a perfect example of why Katie O’Sullivan has become an auto-read for me.
O’Sullivan has crafted a beautiful romance painted against the picture-perfect backdrop of the cape. Such detail existed about P-town, I could smell the salt air and taste the ice cream from the local parlor.
Emma is a native to the summer-destination and his home helping her parents, while they care for sick brother. Chase, a climate scientist, is there for work, but becomes captivated by Emma’s carefree approach to life.
Sparks fly, and the chemistry between the two scorches the pages. But, Emma’s friend from the city and her job threatens to get in the way of their happily ever after.
O’Sullivan weaves in a suspense thread that twists to and fro and will keep you turning pages.
A must read.
