Adding a bit more to the Fiven Chronicles ( aka Wayfarer League ) ecosystem

Had some time to get a new creature started, maybe mostly fleshed out, for use in the current story for the Fiven Chronicles. This would be a predator called theTotshaho!

Worldbuilding for Wayfarer League

I've been working hard at ... well ... several manuscripts. I use one to take a break from the other since they are different genres.

Today I got another Wayfarer League chapter down and managed some new worldbuilding as well. Here's the Ko-Fi link !

Through there, you can get to the article on the Wilderox!

A little Monday Morning Star Wars Fiction

A few days ago, I was challenged to write about two original characters: Force sensitive private detectives in an alternate take on the Star Wars universe and what they would eat in an emergency. So, I accepted.

The result? A quick little short story called: Emergency Rations!

I might do a few more of these.

Scrapjack Universe worldbuilding

The United Solar Nations
Once colonies were first established, the local governments of Earth attempted to extend their influence to other worlds. At first, this seemed successful but as other planetary cultures developed, so did the friction with the homeworld. The generations-old treaties covering activities beyond Earth had not kept up with technology or humanity's achievements.

As no Earth nation or corporation was willing to subordinate to another with regards to expansion and matters of o...

Desperate Times ...

Continuing events from "Not Quite a Way With Words" which is taken from the larger adventure here in the Scrapjack Universe. For a thin man, Dr. Kana slung the oversized plasma cutter like a seasoned straatveger. That is if the straatveger was six shots into an old bottle of Stadick’s Fusion Reserve.

The cutter swung down in a wild arc, the blue-white ‘blade’ removing an arm-sized chunk from the operating table Braam had occupied a moment ago. The still-hot slag of metal hit the deck with...

Not quite a way with words

Continuing events from "A Captain's Choice" which is taken from the larger adventure here in the Scrapjack Universe.Blerrie chot.”

That was the first words Tanner heard Braam say when he pulled the man off the gurney. The rest of Braam’s commentary was lost in an anesthetic slur. The captain shook his head and adjusted his grip on Braam when the man’s knees tried to buckle.

Braam’s clothes were gone, replaced with a basic medical gown. Tanner looked around for something the man could wear...

A Captain's Choice

(Author's note: just a small vignette in the Scrapjack Universe) Picture A trio of phaser bullets chewed a line out of the bulkhead, raining down bits of slagged duraplas.

Tanner felt the weight of the decision like a physical thing, pressing down on his shoulders. This was the part about being a captain, especially a scrapjack captain, that no book or manual talk about. Sometimes the mission - the contract - goes sideways and the universe shows up to demand an ugly choice.

“Do it.”

The words tast...

Morning Oats, Pumpkin and Ambushes

The past couple of weeks, I had inspiration ambush me one chilly morning and a story rolled out. It's set in the same world as my fledgling science fantasy novel I'm working on ... so without further delay ...

....

Morning Oats, Pumpkin and Ambushes

Even the trees were struggling to wake up. But the wind was persistent and kept nudging.

Branches swayed and rattled, clattering their complaints. Beneath those, the okemis started their usual morning breakfast routine. The herd gathered around the lo...

And now, more from the Adventures of Red Claw

Anybody see a dispel packet? They have to be here somewhere!”

David clenched his jaw, working his teeth on hearing Amy’s second yell. Nearby, a crack and whine of a stray bullet bouncing off DANA sang to his left. It was both good and bad they had left MacKenzie at their last stop. While it was good she was not in the middle of this mess, having another pair of hands would be a huge amount of help. Far to David’s right was a sneeze followed by another bullet whine.

His focus slipped and he th...

Another peek into the Adventures of Red Claw

It felt like sitting in the middle of a table tennis match. That is, so long as the seats were in the middle of the playing table, and the players were swatting shrapnel at each other. Bullets and magic buzzed back and forth like angry bees with a mad on. But David had other problems at that moment.

The RV manufacturer had done everything in their power to make sure the RV was safe. From airbags to automatic locking seat belts, they spared no safety measure. Not to be outdone, the Department o...
