DID YOU KNOW?? In “Escape From New York,” Isaac Hayes plays The Duke of New York, the powerful, charismatic, and violent leader of Manhattan Island, which has been converted into a maximum-security prison. Director John Carpenter cast Hayes, a blaxploitation icon, in the intimidating role of The Duke. Isaac Hayes was a renowned musician, composer, and actor, known for his Oscar-winning song “Theme from Shaft”. His musical talent is evident in his powerful presence as The Duke. The iconic ’77 Cadillac Fleetwood sedan with the fender-mounted chandeliers, driven by The Duke in the film, is considered the first “art car” in a feature film.

DID YOU KNOW?? The Sandcrawler’s design was initially inspired by a NASA rover designed for exploring alien planets. The one seen in “STAR WARS” was only 2 feet long, with clever camera work creating the illusion of its massive size. The final design was completed on April 5, 1975.

DEMOLITION MAN, Delorean, Goodyear, Swiss Family & Adam 12!
What’s up you JUGGLIN’ JACKALOPES and welcome to today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Let’s get into some AutoPop with Fireball’s Art of Stallone’s DEMOLITION MAN (Check out the MUGSHOT!) and a wild VOLCANIC DELOREAN!! So cool!!
DID YOU KNOW?? The police cars in Demolition Man were actually the 1992 GM Ultralite concept car. The Ultralite was built with a carbon fiber body to be lightweight and achieve impressive fuel economy, reportedly around 100 miles per gallon! General Motors provided 18 of its driveable concept cars, including the Ultralite, for the film’s production and to create the impression of a police force, over 20 fiberglass replicas were built for filming. It featured distinctive full-length gullwing doors, allowing easy access to both front and back seats simultaneously, and while the original Ultralite concept was silver… it was painted in the classic black and white police livery for the film.
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Fireball peruses Dom’s CHARGER from “Fast & Furious” that they build at CVS for the first film, scoots the GOODYEAR BLIMP with Actor DENISE CROSBY (Star Trek/Ray Donovan), the INGLIS CLASSICS CAR SHOW is coming in August and it’s gonna be EPIC, Fireball & Kim with a Vintage HupMobile at a show in Santa Barbara, the Cast of SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON TV Classic (Written by Fireball Pop, Anthony Lawrence!!) and ON SET with the original ADAM 12!!

DID YOU KNOW?? Tony (known for playing Wally Cleaver in Leave It to Beaver,) was good friends with Fireball and was a car enthusiast himself, expressing a fondness for Plymouth Fury Coupes, particularly in aqua blue like the one his Dad drove in the show. He also owned his first car, a 1961 Corvair, which was returned to him after being sold 50 years later. Furthermore, Dow’s mother was a stunt woman and double for Clara Bow!
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Dow and the Ball hang with Newscaster PAUL MOYER at a show in Malibu, Fireball checks out a Custom BMW ISETTA, ON SET at Universal for the film “Escape from LA“ and the upcoming INGLIS CLASSICS Car Show is slated for August 23rd!!

Besides Buck Rogers, Erin Gray had a successful acting career, including roles in “Silver Spoons,” “Magnum, P.I.,” and the movie “Six Pack.” She now works as a casting agent and teaches Tai Chi, but before acting… she was a successful model, appearing in commercials for various products and gracing the covers of magazines!
And meanwhile, on today’s FIREBALL AUTO ADVENTURE, The Ball and Tommy hit the new movie F1 with Brad Pitt and it’s… SPECTACULAR! One of the best car films in years, so be sure to check it out! The name might even be a nod to The Doors’ song “Crystal Ship,” subtly reflecting the internal struggles of the characters. Thankfully, the real RV used in filming was retained by Sony Pictures Studio for studio tours, where fans can see it up close. Hopefully, not cooking…

DID YOU KNOW?? The DMC DeLorean, famous from Back to the Future, has some interesting facts tied to it. The car’s speedometer only went up to 85 mph in production models, but a sticker was added to show 95 mph for filming. The movie’s choice of 88 mph for time travel was random. Six DeLoreans were used during filming, including one fiberglass replica. The restored DeLorean time machine features functional time circuits and sound effects, unlike the original movie prop. Only around 9,000 DeLoreans were ever made!
And meanwhile, on today’s FIREBALL SOCAL ADVENTURE… Remember The Ball on the News every time an accident happened in Malibu? Well, he’s in the 805 now where there’s nothing but cool CAR SHOWS! Pop may be gone now, but his legendary Hollywood Writing Career LIVES ON!
