DID YOU KNOW?? The American Graffiti 1932 Ford Hot Rod, known as the “Deuce Coupe,” was a unique custom build that became an icon after the film. It was built from a genuine steel body with significant modifications like a chopped roof, a custom yellow paint job, and a powerful V8 engine. Originally intended to be sold for a low price, it was kept by Universal Studios for promotion after the movie became a huge success. Powered by a modified 1966 Chevy 327 engine, it was a choice that was considered somewhat exotic at the time. The car’s iconic yellow color and aggressive modifications (including the chopped roof and louvered hood) helped make it one of the most recognized and replicated hot rods in the world and became a symbol of hot rod culture, freedom and a golden era of American Automotive Pop Culture.

DREW STRUZAN was a Master Poster Artist and friend, creating fluid and beautiful pieces for STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES and hundreds of other famous films. His health declined in recent years and he finally succumbed yesterday, October 14th. His talents and commitment to his Art will be sorely missed… “Thank you for your inspiration, Drew.”

HOT WHEELS TWIN MILL Art, Dick Van Dyke, The General & NYC!!

What’s up you QUASI-QWIRKY QUARTERBACKS and welcome to today’s awesome AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Fireball’s back from NYC and today… we celebrate with some HOT WHEELS TWIN MILL ART!! One of the most famous Diecasts on the Planet!

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The Hot Wheels Twin Mill was designed by Ira Gilford, who was a designer at Mattel. It was one of the first original designs made from scratch for the Hot Wheels lineup, released in 1969. Gilford designed the car to be an aerodynamic, twin-engine concept car and a full-sized, drivable version of the Twin Mill was built for Hot Wheels’ 30th anniversary… with the project started by Boyd Coddington and Chip Foose and finished by Barry Lobeck. 

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… buddy DICK VAN DYKE is 99 and turns 100 on December 13th! What a Holiday treat! Also, the Ball drives the original GENERAL LEE to get his YEEHAW on, ends up getting more smiles than he can handle! The TWIN MILL GETS MUGGED and now it’s time add some FEEL GOOD COFFEE COOLNESS as you Collect your Diecast Redlines!

What’s up you DUMBASS DEMONS and welcome to today’s scootin’ AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Let’s get this PAAATEEYY started with Fireball’s hand-drawn THUNDERBIRDS Art!! Were you a fan of the show?? We was… and we still is…

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? Thunderbird 2 was designed by Derek Meddings and was originally intended to be blue but was changed to green. It is the most frequently seen Thunderbird, known for its interchangeable pods that carry various rescue equipment. Created for the TV show Thunderbirds, it is powered by a combination of a propeller and jets and can reach anywhere in the world without refueling, with a cruising speed of 2,000 mph. Whoa. The design was inspired by the Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar, particularly its removable cargo pod feature. And it’s just frikkin’ cool!

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Ball and THE POPE were best buds and pondered and Official Vatican Cars & Coffee (He was a JDM Fan and had an 800horse Skyline in Purple… that was BAGGED!). Alter-Ego MARIO (Did you know that Fireball played Mario in ALL the 90’s-2000’s Commercials? TRUTH!) and TJ HOOKER Mugs and Canvas are back in the Garage! DID YOU KNOW?? In the 1977 movie The Car starring James Brolin, the titular car was a custom 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III built by George Barris, a famous Hollywood customizer. Four cars were made for the film, which was set in a small Utah desert town and centered on an unmanned, self-driving car going on a murderous rampage. Brolin starred as Sheriff Wade, the lawman trying to stop the mysterious, evil vehicle. The Car was the highest-grossing independent film at the time of its release and is now considered a cult classic! 

Today’s CELEBS starts BARRY MEGUIAR from Benedict Castle, the original DRAGULA at The Grand Nationals, STUNTMAN SIMON RHEE (7th Degree Black Belt and Famous for stunts in over 200 films!), Fireball leaves for the NEW YORK COMIC CON this Friday and will be on hand for fans starting Saturday at 11am!

PLUS, nothing like a little Java with Automotive Icon MARK STEHRENBERGER, this FORD TUDOR was spotted in Ventura (is it a ’50?) and Fireball hangs with Jeff Styles’ EVEL VAN at Sema!

DID YOU KNOW?? SWAT stands for “Special Weapons And Tactics” and was created in the late 1960s to handle dangerous situations that patrol officers couldn’t. SWAT teams use advanced gear like robots, night-vision goggles, and specialized vehicles, but their goal is to prevent loss of life by using their training as a last resort. A significant portion of SWAT deployments are for drug raids and serve as a way for police to perform high-risk warrants. And… it was a hellacious TV Show!

007 SUB, Emergency 51, Tiki Wagon, Monkees & Sprint Car Art!

Good morning you ATYPICAL A-HOLES and welcome to today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! Let’s pop this weasel with Fireball’s awesome 007 LOTUS SUBMARINE from James Bond’s THE SPY WHO LOVED ME!

DID YOU KNOW?? The submarine Lotus Esprit from the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me was a fully operational “wet sub” built by a marine engineering company for nearly $100,000. Nicknamed “Wet Nellie” by the film crew, it was driven by a retired Navy SEAL wearing scuba gear, since the car’s interior filled with water. The Lotus Esprit was chosen for the film after a Lotus PR manager parked an early production model outside the Bond production studio, catching the eye of producer Albert R. Broccoli. After filming, Wet Nellie was sold and ended up in a New York storage unit. In 1989, an anonymous couple bought the unit’s contents at a blind auction for just $100. It wasn’t until 2013 that they realized what they had found and decided to sell it at auction.

What’s up you PLUMP PORKALICIOUS PUNKS and welcome to today’s badass AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! If you’re new, then WELCOME! And today, Fireball’s got all-new Art with THE PERSUADERS ASTON MARTIN!

DID YOU KNOW?? The 1970s series The Persuaders hit massive popularity in the UK and the US and was only overshadowed by its immense success in Europe, particularly Germany and France. It was re-dubbed with new, witty dialogue! Tony Curtis was arrested for marijuana possession upon arriving in the UK to start filming and Roger Moore chose not to drive an Aston Martin in the series, despite the car being his character’s. Instead, he preferred his own production car! The show’s cancellation in the US allowed Roger Moore to accept the role of James Bond, and its opening credits featured a childhood photo of his son, Geoffrey Moore… rather than Moore himself.

BANDIT 1, Saasquatch, Dragons, Lily & New CAR SHOW SAFARI!

Good morning you NUMBSKULL NEIR-DO-WELLS and welcome to today’s awesome AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! We begin our Journey of Coolness with BANDIT 1 ART from SMOKEY & THE BANDIT! Check out the merch in Fireball’s Garage!

DID YOU KNOW?? Burt Reynolds performed some high-speed stunts himself in Smokey and the Bandit despite studio fears, and the film’s director, Hal Needham, was an experienced stuntman who insisted on practical effects over CGI. The film’s success boosted the sales of the Pontiac Trans Am, and the character of Sheriff Buford T. Justice was inspired by a real Florida Highway Patrolman Burt Reynolds’s father knew. Additionally, Burt Reynolds was originally supposed to play the Snowman, but he wanted the role of the Bandit, leading to Jerry Reed taking the Snowman part. Of the four Trans Ams provided for the movie, three were destroyed during filming, leaving only one surviving car.

The creators of Scooby Doo were inspired by “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis” and a radio show called “I Love a Mystery,” while the characters themselves were modeled after Doby Gillis characters. Scooby’s creator, Iwao Takamoto, gave him opposite physical traits to a stereotypical Great Dane, and Shaggy’s real name is Norville. The show was originally planned to be called “Mystery Five” before focusing on the dog and being renamed “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?”
