WHAT’S NEW in the Garage is Hot Wheels Custom & Men in Blue
The HOT WHEELS CUSTOM FLEETSIDE was as one of the original Sweet 16 Hot Wheels that came out in 1968. I was 3 years old, but I remember later that I loved the YELLOWS and GOLDS as it reminded me of beachlife in Socal where I grew up. That was Palos Verdes.
As a Hot Wheels Custom, it was designed by Harry Bradley (who was one of my teachers at Art Center in the late 80’s) and based on his own personal customized ’64 Chevrolet El Camino. This is the car that all other Hot Wheels were styled after “with that California Custom look”. Red striped tires and custom details. Harry was like a Drill Sargent. He pushed us hard and the kids today at ACCD have it easy. I say that as they did things back then that you COULD NOT do today. You’d be sued. It was the most difficult thing I had ever gone through.

In the pilot episode of ADAM-12, they used a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere… for the rest of the first season, it was a 1968 Plymouth Belvedere instead. Later updated to a 1969 Plymouth Belvedere for the second and third seasons. In the fourth season, Adam-12 used a 1971 Plymouth Satellite. I’ll be doing the ’71 soon…
But I figured that in today’s time, it might be fun to have Cops rolls up in something SILENT so you never hear them coming. This, the 2022 Fisker Karma. Surprised that they haven’t done a REMAKE on this one yet. Check out the all-new TEES in the Garage and start the PUNISHMENT!

MASSIVE AIRKOOLED VDUB INFESTATION Converges on the Museum
HUGE turnout for the Airkooled VDUB Klassics event at the Museum on Sunday! So many cool BUGS and BUSES and the total was around 70!!
One of the most unique and passionate groups are the Vdubs of the 805 with AIRKOOLED KLASSICS and WOLFSBURG FINEST. But the VDubs came from all over including MEYERS MANX’s and one MASSIVE INTERNATIONAL TRUCK! We had an amazing BBQ, thanks to Spencer and his FIREBALL TRUCK, plus JEWELRY and TUMBLERS! So…much…FUN!
Yes, the Museum is closing… but that DOES NOT mean that Fireball Events are coming to an end… so let’s be CLEAR. Transmutation is is my middle name! (Actually, it’s TIM, but you get my point.) Where one door closes, ANOTHER OPENS. Stay tuned for NEWS from THE GARAGE!!

WONDERCON 2024 blows up with EPIC MODEL MASTERS…
What an amazing weekend resulting in two EPIC SHOWS at our Museum in Oxnard. Although the doors will officially be closing on July 7th, WONDERCON 2024 went off like gangbusters! Tons of MODEL KITS and MODEL BUILDERS from across the country competed for BEST OF SHOW… and these were the BEST.
Someone even build David’s cool C10 Stepside! But my favorite?? The BLADE RUNNER SPINNER, as I rebuilt the original for Syd Mead many years ago and I’m a huge BR fan. PLUS, my good buddy Lou Franco (Who created Wondercon) built my original BATMOBILE from a Japanese Bandai Kit! It’s A… MAZING!
This afternoon, I’ll post shots from Sunday’s Show with AIRKOOLED KLASSICS!!

BONUS SKETCHES!! Modified HERBIE, BTTF2134 and a SECRET…
It’s not uncommon for SKETCHES or CONCEPT ART to evolve here at Fireball. And today’s SKETCH did just that… This Heavily Modified HERBIE started out as a Sketch for Fireball’s MOVIE CAR COLORING BOOK, then swiftly became the cover for the 2022 California Powersports Expo… and will soon appear IN THE GARAGE as a stand-alone piece for Herbie fans. But there’ so much more if it gets Modified AGAIN! Imagine a DUKES LIVERY…? Should Fireball do it??
Also, a brand new BACK TO THE FUTURE 4 Chevy 3100 heading to the year 2134! NEW CANVAS PRINT! What could this mean? Stay tuned to the garage and Fireball will reveal all!

DOC and MARTY accidentally land Delorean in ANCIENT JAPAN
In a flurry of sparks and electronic whirs, the DELOREAN TIME MACHINE materialized amidst a tranquil bamboo forest in Ancient Japan. Marty and Doc stumbled out, dazed by the sudden shift from Hill Valley… to feudal Ancient JAPAN. “Great Scott, Marty!” Doc exclaimed, adjusting his glasses. “Looks like we’ve landed in 16th century Japan this time!” This time meant that this was trip number 42 in the last 4 weeks. But the first place that caused a REAL PROBLEM.
Marty glanced around at the traditional wooden buildings and samurai warriors passing by. “Well, Doc, how are we gonna get back? We need 1.21 gigawatts, and there’s no power outlets in sight!”
Doc scratched his head, pondering the situation. “Fear not, Marty! We just need to find a way to harness the energy available in this era.”
Over the next hour, they ventured through the ancient village, attracting curious gazes from locals in kimono and straw hats. Doc’s scientific mind raced, considering the resources available in feudal Japan. As they passed a river, he noticed water wheels turning, powering simple machines.
“Water power!” Doc exclaimed. “If we can amplify and channel it correctly…”
But Marty looked skeptical. “But Doc, we need a lot of it, and we’re in the middle of nowhere! And I gotta be in Greece for World’s Fair 3267 by 6pm!
Doc smiled confidently. “Ah, but remember, Marty, the Japanese were masters of engineering. We just need to find a way to scale it up.”
They approached a local blacksmith, who was hammering away at a piece of metal. Through gestures and broken Japanese, Doc conveyed his need for a large-scale water-driven mechanism. The blacksmith nodded knowingly and led them to a nearby river where a massive water wheel was already in use for grinding rice.
With the help of the blacksmith and other villagers, Doc and Marty devised a plan to build a makeshift hydroelectric generator. They used the water wheel to turn a series of gears and dynamos, improvising with materials available in the village.
As the sun set over the mountains, the contraption was finally ready. Doc adjusted the final connections, and the dynamos began to hum with energy. The villagers watched in awe as the lights on the DeLorean began flickered to life.
“Marty, we’ve done it!” Doc shouted triumphantly over the rushing water. “1.21 gigawatts, just like we needed!”
Marty grinned, patting Doc on the back. “I guess science really is universal, Doc.”
And with a flash of light and a surge of power, the DeLorean vanished from ancient Japan, leaving behind a group of bewildered but grateful villagers.
As they reappeared in 1985 Hill Valley, Marty couldn’t help but laugh. “Doc, we just traveled through time and used water power in ancient Japan to get home. This is heavy.”
Doc chuckled, adjusting his cap. “Indeed it is, Marty. But remember, the future is what you make of it! And again, weight is never an issue.”
And with that timeless wisdom, Marty and Doc prepared for their next adventure to Greece, not realizing that they had a tiny Stowaway… But THAT, is another story…

BONUS SKETCH!! Stude Silverhawk, Foggy Ferrari & Fireball U
Today’s BONUS SKETCH is a Classic 1957 Studebaker SILVERHAWK which was designed by Robert Bourke as head of the Studebaker Design Team contracted from Raymond Loewy Associates. A super beautiful and unique car that was waaaaay ahead of it’s time… and a little quirky as all Stoodies were. And so was Raymond Loewy, btw… (Quirky, that is.)
Plus, Fireball stretches the legs of a 2005 FERRARI MODENA from the Museum on an 805 foggy morning. The only sounds were chirping birds, the wind and a screamin’ visceral Italian V8! Woosh!

Should legendary BLUES BROTHERS return on another MISSION?
There’s a whole new generation out there. And like GHOSTBUSTERS, studios are considering bringing back THE BLUES BROTHERS as POP CULTURE FOLKLORE to those that never stood in line. You know what we’re talking about…
I stood in line for the film THE BLUES BROTHERS from nearly 8 hours. Lawn Chairs, major snacks, extensive and sometimes heated conversations. But it was an EVENT and you knew it was worth it. And the movie was AWESOME… for the third time.
But should THE BLUE BROTHERS return for a new generation? Should the kids of “Joliet” JAKE and ELWOOD BLUES become more than just lazy GenZ’s? Should we inspire them to follow in the footsteps of the epitome coolness? Maybe so… and maybe dropping this notion into the minds of the Studios reading this might get it done… RIGHT.
Not a SEQUEL. Not a REMAKE. A NEW GENERATION of COOLNESS. But whatever you do… DON’T MESS WITH THE BLUESMOBILE. It’s the only character that DOES NOT need changing. And for now… you can support this MISSION FROM GOD with Fireball’s new badass Tee…
