I was walking through the park with my six-year-old this morning when he stopped and looked up. “There’s a plane stuck in that tree,” he said. “No, wait. It’s a balloon. A blue balloon.”

"Okay," I replied, seeing nothing. A moment later, a balloon from a children’s party in another section of the park flew free, slowly crossed the park, and stuck itself in the tree in the exact place my son had been staring.

The balloon was blue.

Last week we visited local venue The Green Building in Gowanus to see a performance of A 70’s Summer Night, a Roadside Attraction performance based around a vintage camper from Third Rail Projects, who brought us the Sleep No More-esque Alice in Wonderland phenomenon Then She Fell.

A hilarious, moving, and unique performance, the highlight of which was the multi-talented Elizabeth Carena, who also played the Mad Hatter when I saw Then She Fell in January 2013. She’s not easy to forget.
