TUESDAY BOOK REVIEW_BAD PUBLICITY
Sent off to another temporary assignment at a PR firm, aspiring actress Isobel Spice, finds herself knee deep in dead bodies. When a client of the PR firm turns up dead, Isobel panics as she realizes the coffee she served him may be the culprit. When the authorities informs the staff that he died as a result of cardiac arrest, Isobel is not satisfied. Moving forward on one of the detective’s advice, she decides to trust her first instinct and investigate on her own. When she is sent out on another temporary assignment to the county morgue for a day, her instincts are confirmed as she realizes it was more than a case of cardiac arrest. Her investigation turns up question after question, which leads to more dead bodies piling up in the PR firm.In the midst of trying to manage her busy schedule as an aspiring artist and working temp assignments to pay the bills, Isobel also finds herself in a love triangle that she did not contrive. When murder and love become entangled, will this quirky, young lady escape with her heart, and her life?
I always love a good mystery, especially murder mysteries. Ms. Lessner intertwined mystery, romance, and comedy in this unpredictable novel. With all the twists and turns in the plot, she takes you on a ride to keep up with this mystery. With the various characters involved, it was not easy to determine who had committed the murders, or why. I never did guess who the culprit was, but there’s a surprise twist at the end. She provides insight into how the world of corporate takeovers, and mergers can have a devastating impact on the lives of others. She also reveals how when we envy someone else’s life, we truly don’t know what price or sacrifice comes along with what appears to be the “good life.” I rate this novel a 3.5. MONDAY MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT_IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY
When adversity comes what will you do? Will you run away hoping it will disappear in time, or will you stand strong to endure what must come? Will you hide away from the world and cry, or will you come out swinging like a prize fighter? Will you look for your supporters and wonder where they are, or will you look to your Higher Power and find strength and comfort?
It is in these moments that we learn who we truly are and what we’re made of. It’s always easy to feel sorry for ourselves and think about how the situations weren’t our fault. But whether we find ourselves in adverse situations created by our own hands, or those beyond our control, mental and spiritual preparation will see us through.
Adversity does come to build our character and make us stronger. No, it is not an easy task, but the molding and the shaping that comes during the test, will be well worth the battle wounds if we just endure. Going through adversity with a negative attitude hinders you from learning what you are supposed to learn, and gaining what you should gain in the process. But when you learn to look past the difficulty and the pain of the moment, and dig deep inside, you will find you had what it takes to make it through all along.

CRIES IN THE NIGHT_KATHY CLARK
The final day of the author's love affair is today. I have brought you three days of wonderful authors. Guess what today brings? Yes, my first love of all the genres...a little mystery.
Did it really have to end? That is the first thought I must share with you about Kathy Clark’s Cries “In the Night.” For the first time in a long time, I sat and read this book in one day, which is amazing considering my hectic schedule. Ms. Clark provides an inside view into the lives of first responders. We see them at the scene of the crimes, or in the midst of emergencies, and they are the people’s heroes. But do we really know them beyond that? She provides a candid in-depth look into the chaos and confusion that is their lives, the raw emotions they deal with behind the scenes as a result of their career choices, and show us the human side of these special people, walking in a unique calling.
I fell in love with the characters, Julie and Rusty, while becoming endeared to his brothers, Chris and Sam as well. Other characters in the story that were central to the storyline are so authentic, that you actually become connected to them in a real way. Julie Lawrence is a Victim’s Advocate for the Denver Police Department. She, or one of her volunteers are always one of the first responders to the scene of a crime, emergency, or domestic abuse situation. Her humble and compassionate personality enables her to connect with the victims she’s assisting, and because of this they trust her beyond measure. At one such scene, she meets fireman, Rusty Wilson. Babe magnet, and hero to married and single women alike in Denver, Rusty is a self-proclaimed player. He’s looking for a good time and does not allow himself to get caught up in hero worship, which many women equate with firemen. But after meeting Julie, the first woman to not throw herself at him, he finds himself looking for someone to rescue his heart from her clutches.
There’s something special and different about Julie that he just cannot put his finger on. But when she becomes the victim of several random attacks, he finds himself wanting to be her protector, and hero. He reaches out to penetrate the wall that she has built around her, only to find the task daunting at best. But when her life is in jeopardy, both the player, and the mysterious young lady will find themselves fighting to tear down the wall of protection they have both erected.
I loved the story because while it does have elements of romance, the story was not romance based. It is a contemporary fiction story, with elements of suspense to keep your adrenaline pumping, and elements of romance to keep the heat flowing from the pages. This was a professionally, well-written story, which takes a look at real life adversities of abuse victims, emergency personnel, and true life challenges from a first responders perspective.
I give this story a five because Ms. Clark did a wonderful job of weaving a tale of intrigue, and compassion with depth, and reality. The characters are relatable, and a hidden secret from one of the characters past can derail even the best laid protection plans. Ms. Clark did not miss a beat in this romantic suspense novel.

AUTHOR'S BIO:
Growing up an introvert, Té Russ found solace in literary arts at an early age. She found reading to be a vehicle to broader horizons and writing a form of self-expression. She began writing love stories in her adolescent years as a way to expel her youthful thoughts of love into words. Since then she has gone from writing stories and thoughts of love in journals to attending college for journalism and falling in love, which has allowed those youthful words of love to blossom into a series of stories in her romance novels. Though she has an immense appreciation for the sheer smell that books collectively exert, she also has found balance to her introverted nature with adrenaline inducing activities. So if she does not have her nose pressed deeply into a book or her pin ticking through a pad, you may also find this mother of three jumping out of airplanes, cheering her husband on at the top of her lungs at MMA fights, buzzing down the interstate on the back of motorcycles, or kayaking.

Author Sarah Butland Takes on Hashtags
Today's love affair with reading brings you a new author friend that I recently met. Sarah Butland, comes all the way to us from Canada, and she's posed an interesting topic today...she's tackling that fearful topic...hashtags. Welcome Sarah, as she guest hosts for us today.#Hashtag #Amreading
Hashtags can be intimidating. When they first got popular I had no idea what they were used for. Google was the search engine I used, I wasn't thinking Twitter and Facebook or more. But now as I'm trying to reach more readers I think I'm getting the hang of this #hashtag thing.
You can find what's trending so what people on Twitter are talking about and find a way to give your opinion on their topic. Now Facebook is catching on and letting its users search for topics of choice like #amreading or celebrate #amwriting.
First it was all about SEO, keyword optimization and being sure your title is relevant to a few like words in your post with bolding, highlighting, etc. Making sure you were found on Google but now it's all about being found by readers, other like minded people and friends.
You can search for new authors with your favorite genre whether it's #mystery, #romance or #Christian and you'll be surprised by the new treasures you'll find and meet.
Though 15 years ago, no one really anticipated the power of the Internet and now it's impressing us in many ways by being useful and user friendly. Social networks are connecting us with long lost friends, best selling authors, and new friends with just a few clicks of a few keys. No longer do we need a keychain full of keys to friends houses, we just need a keyboard and the know how to type a nice email and the number of doors and windows of possibilities is endless.
So #hashtag your favorite author to introduce yourself directly to the author and other readers who want to discuss such an author. A #bookclub of sorts that invites the author of the current book into the discussion and lets you connect with people around the world instead of your neighbor.
Most of all, enjoy the wonderful possibilities being connected has to offer, and reading allows you to take advantage of. And #passiton!
Thanks for reading,
