A Last Minute BBF Post--Carpe DiEmily by Riley J. Ford!
Author Riley J. Ford has got a major fan in this blogger. I am so excited to feature her novel, Carpe DiEmily for the Blogger Book Fair. She is also the author of Into You, a paranormal mystery novel. I love both of these books and I think that you would too! So, let's meet the author and read the blurb for Carpe DiEmily, the wild adventure novel with quite a twist!
Author bio: Riley J. Ford is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in English. After teaching at both the high school and college levels for a number of years, she became a curriculum developer before turning to writing full-time. Her non-fiction books are currently being used in college classrooms around the country, and her essays have been featured on MSNBC.com. She is the author of two fiction books, Into You, a young adult mystery, and Carpe DiEmily, a romantic comedy. Her books are available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Smashwords, and other channels. The first part of her romantic comedy, Carpe DiEmily, is free on all major book-buying platforms. She currently lives in California with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, and stand-up paddleboarding. To learn more about the author and her books, visit her website at http://rileyjford.com/
Author Photo: I have no author photo (by choice). I like to stay anonymous. :)
The Blurb from Carpe DiEmily:
Emily Keane has her life all planned out. She's played by the rules and never stepped outside her box, and now she will finally be rewarded with everything she always dreamed of: a job promotion, a fiance, and a future she can count on. But when her perfectly planned world falls apart, Emily is plunged into the wildest year of her life.
From the beaches of California to Jamaica, New York, and Europe, Emily finds herself on a madcap race against time, running from an unscrupulous organ broker who wants her dead, all the while checking items off her unusual bucket list. On top of it all, she's falling in love with the most unlikely person, a man who can never return her feelings . . . but will his friendship be enough?
Confronting one hilarious misadventure after another, Emily finally learns who she really is and how to seize the day . . .
Note: Carpe DiEmily is a raunchy, fearless comedy in the same vein as the movie Bridesmaids, to which it has been favorably compared. Both female and male readers will enjoy this zany comedic adventure.

Blogger Book Fair Organizer Choice Awards
Blogger Book Fair Organizer Choice Awards
That’s right, I picked out the best of the best in categories I hand-picked as well. These awards may or may not be biased. These are all in good fun, so please do not take offense!
Longest Title for a Book in the BBF:
Get This Body in a Barn: A Milkmaid’s Guide to Fitness by Brooklyn James at 11 words long.
Most works entered in the BBF:
Nathan Squiers with 14 works! That is awesome!
Most Helpful Participants:
S. M. Boyce, Rebecca Hamilton, and Jacob Donley. All three of these awesome people helped me with the overwhelming chaos that ensued after so many signed up. There were other very helpful people as well, but these three went above and beyond.
Best Events:
There were some Amazing events during this BBF, but I have to hand it to Wynne Channing for the Best and Worst of Books and Blogs 2012 Event and Nikki Jefford for all the events that she held including the Books for a Buck Hop.
Most Creative way to Interview Other Authors:
Jason Andrew Bond with his Haiku challenge.
Blog with the most giveaways to enter:
Inspiration for Creation run by Becca J. Campbell. There are tons of speculative fiction giveaways and still time to enter them! Hurry!
Best Contest:
The Snapshot Synopsis Contest Hosted by Fel at the Peasants Revolt.
Best Expert:
Now, most people know that even when writing fiction, you need to do some research. Well, Jade Kerrion has taken her career into her writing. She’s an expert in her field and you’ll be able to see that in the Double Helix Series.
Best Author/Blogger to Incorporate Writing into the BBF:
Thomas Winship challenged the authors to write a flash fiction piece!
Best Blogger to Begin a BBF Tradition:
Sheri at Shut Up and Read has held the Blogger Book Fair Reader’s Choice Awards again!
I wish I could give everyone and award for the great job they did! You all made this event so awesome, and I can’t wait for the next one! Hope to see you there whether you are a reader, a blogger, or an author!

50 Shades Stance
I asked the BBF authors to tell me how they felt about the 50 Shades Trilogy. A few of them were brave enough to tell me where they stood on this controversial subject. Now, this is just for fun so no fighting in the comments field! Everyone has a right to their opinion. Perhaps if your opinion is the same as one of the authors below, you might find that author would be a candidate for your next read since you are possibly like-minded!
I gave them five answers to choose from. Read and Loved, Read and Hated, Haven't Read but Want To, Haven't Read and Won't, and Undecided.
Sherry Soule is the author of the thrilling paranormal romance novel, “IMMORTAL ECLIPSE” Blog: http://sherrysoule.blogspot.com/
Read and Loved: “Beautiful Disaster” by Jamie McGuire. It one of my favorite books. I love darker storylines and ones with dysfunctional characters. Abby and Travis are one of those couples that are drawn to each other, despite the odds.
Thomas Winship is the author of the Vaempires series can be found at www.vaempires.com .
Undecided - Perhaps one day when I need inspiration. LOL
SJ Byrne is the author of My Butterfly and can be found at http://bit.ly/SJBlog
Read and Loved
Isabella Sinclair is the author of OLLY and can be found at http://bit.ly/IsabellaSBlog
Undecided
Kirstin Pulioff is the author of The Escape of Princess Madeline and can be found at
www.kirstinpulioff.com Haven’t read and won’t.
Kyra Dune is the author of the Time of Shadows Series and can be found at http://kyradune.wix.com/kyra-dune Haven’t Read and Won’t As for me, I am curious to read the books. I've read the kindle samples and wasn't exactly impressed. Perhaps when they drop in price I will give it a try, but I worry about spending money on a book I've heard such differing opinions on.

Blogger Book Fair Opening Post and Giveaway!
It's the first day of the Winter 2013 Blogger Book Fair!
Today I'm going to tell you a little about what Blogger Book Fair is, the events I'm going to host, and also who is hosting me! First I have a little announcement, some of you may already know, but my publisher has given me permission to write and publish a short story that takes place before Obsidian begins. The story will be about Tom and Ava, for all you vampire love fans out there. This will be a story that you can read before or after Obsidian and it's titled Ruby: A Mystic Stones Jewel. You can enter to win an ebook of Obsidian and Ruby at the bottom of this post. The winner will receive Obsidian right away and Ruby when it is officially released!
There are two other giveaways just like this on Riley J. Ford's blog and Becca J. Campbell's blog beginning on February 10th.
Okay, now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you a little about Blogger Book Fair or BBF. BBF is a biannual event that began last July. I came up with the idea when I was seven months pregnant and unsure if I wanted to risk getting a booth at the local county fair, especially since we were having record high temps last summer. I decided that an online event would be better and it grew into the Blogger Book Fair.
Authors from all over come together to cross promote each other and bring you readers a huge selection of books. The goal is to show readers that we are professional and we cater to YOU.
I will be hosting three events here on this blog. Tomorrow will be the This or That? event. I asked participants of the BBF to submit their answers to 5 This or That? questions. See who answered and what they said!
The next event on February 9th is a little controversial, but it's all in good fun. It's called the 50 Shades Stance event. Some brave authors told us how they felt about the 50 Shades series. Please keep any comments light and fun, this is just a way to express ourselves and maybe even connect with someone who feels the same about the series as we do. We are all entitled to our opinions after all!
The last event, on February 10th, is the Organizer Choice Awards. I'm the head organizer of the BBF, so I picked my own fun categories and I also picked the winners. See who won these silly awards!
Don't forget to go to the main BBF directory where you can browse by genre, author or book title. You can also browse the giveaways, events and books for under $5.
Now, here's a list of people who are hosting me:
John Forster (Announcing a new short story series that I am working on)
Becca J. Campbell (Announcing Ruby &giveaway)
Riley J. Ford (Announcing Ruby & giveaway)
Fel at The Peasants Revolt (Interview & giveaway)

Blogger Book Fair Approaches!
Hey guys! Sorry I've been a crappy blog host and I haven't posted much lately. It's all because I'm working on the upcoming Blogger Book Fair. Blogger Book Fair started out as my way to go to a fair, but not have to sit at an uncomfortable booth all day. The one I would have gone to would have been my local county fair, and since last summer was the hottest summer on record for years, and I was seven months pregnant, (would have been about eight at the time of the fair) I didn't feel like risking it. So, I came up with the idea to do an online book fair and it was such a success back in July that I thought I'd do it every six months.
The upcoming Blogger Book Fair goes from February 7th through the 10th and will feature over 170 books from over 70 authors. There are books from all sorts of genres, but there is a very strong PARANORMAL presense, for all you paranormal fans out there. There will be tons of events, giveaways and freebies. This is an event that you won't even have to get out of your PJ's for. Heck, you could wear a costume for all I care, just be there for all the great deals and fun stuff!

Aurora Sky SupaGurl Tour!

Today I'm hosting Nikki Jefford for her Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter blog tour! We're posting an excerpt and a giveaway with some awesome prizes!
First, I'll post the blurb and cover:

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora’s life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter. In Alaska. Basically she’s a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job… by hand.
Now Aurora’s only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire. And if he’s a vampire, will she be forced to kill him?
For ages 16+
. . . and here's the excerpt:
Fane grinned as I walked past. “Shouldn’t you be in class?”
“Shouldn’t you?”
He pushed off the wall and walked toward me. “We’ve missed you in gym. I enjoyed your little performance the other day.”
I turned my head to follow Fane’s movements as he circled me.
“I’m glad to see that you’re feeling better,” he continued.
“Yep. Never better.”
He stared at the red scarf around my neck. I didn’t take my eyes off him.
“Good,” he said slow and sensual. He stepped in my path as I tried to walk past.
My heartbeat quickened. There had to be something seriously sick about feeling aroused by a person who pissed me off.
My jaw tightened. “Get out of my way, unless you want me to drop you the way I dropped Clayton.”
Fane’s teeth flashed when he grinned. He stepped aside. “Careful, Aurora, I might take you down with me.”
I hurried past him, feeling his smile on my back the entire way. Now I had a whole other reason to avoid gym besides loathing the class.
To think I actually wanted to dance with the scoundrel at winter ball. I’d sooner dance with a viper.
Don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Come, the Darkto be release Winter of 2013
"Whatever you do, fight." A Rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.Rose was just a teenage girl carrying her father’s baby. A teenage girl who desperately wanted to escape. Womanhood in Salem, Massachusetts 1692 wasn’t what she had in mind.As Rose attempts to save her newborn daughter, Anna, from both her father and the dark spirits that haunt her life, she is thrust from Georgia, 1962, into the start of Salem’s infamous witch trials, leaving her daughter hopelessly out of reach. Here, the townsfolk call her Abigail, while a strange man in the woods calls her by the name she gave herself as a child: Cordovae. A name she's never shared with anyone else and no one else could have possibly known about. All she wants is to find her way back to her daughter . . . but going back isn’t an option. Not until she faces certain death to stabilize the dark spirits that plague Salem before they possess the town. If she doesn’t move them in time, not only will human civilization be destroyed, but she’ll be forever trapped in this strange new place, unable to see her daughter ever again.Even if she can complete the task in time to return home to save her daughter, there’s still one problem: she’s falling in love with a man who can’t return with her. Achieving her goals will leave her forced to choose between the only man who’s never betrayed her and a daughter she can’t quite remember but will never forget.A heart-wrenching tale of a mother’s love for her daughter, this romantic paranormal fantasy underlines the depravity of both historical and modern society while capturing the essence of sacrifice and devotion.

The Burning of Isobel Key | The Key Inheritance
Ten years after the trip to Scotland that changed her life, Lou is back in the misty, magical country. This time, however, she’s not on vacation: Lou is there to settle some distasteful and depressing family business. When Brian, her old Highland fling, turns up, Lou is forced to wrestle with a past that she thought was dead and buried. As tension between the former lovers mounts, something wicked is stirring in Scotland. Lou must use all her strength to handle the increasingly desperate situation, but will she be strong enough to battle both a vengeful ghost and her heart?
The Key Inheritance is a novella that takes place a decade after the events of The Burning of Isobel Key. This contemporary story crosses into the supernatural as Lou discovers evidence of a long-dead spirit who refuses to rest in peace. Lou may have thought that she was finished with the witch Isobel Key, but her inheritance is more than the young woman can handle alone.
Read an excerpt from The Key Inheritance:
Alexander had left his wife in St. Andrews to travel to Edinburgh for a fortnight. The excuse he offered was weak, but Maggie was too young to question him. He whistled as he rode his horse, eager to get back to the thriving metropolis that he visited infrequently.
His mother’s family had kin at court, and as a child, these distant relations had given Alexander an excuse to visit Edinburgh, but that wasn’t why he was bound there now.
Alexander Nairn wanted to get stinking drunk.
He could have gone out carousing in St. Andrews. His school friends were still about, and Maggie wouldn’t have stopped him. But his in-laws were alive, and Alexander felt their ever-watchful eyes whenever he set foot outside of his rooms in the village. It was positively disconcerting, and he was getting jumpy.
So Alexander did the only thing he could think of: he fled the city and headed for Edinburgh, where no one would know about the scandal he had brought down upon the Keys. He arrived as night fell, after two days of traveling, and his horse steered him immediately to a pub. He made a note to give the beast some extra sugar, but his gratitude was lost by his second tankard of ale.
“Why does the woman torment me?” He asked the other men around him, but none answered. Alexander stared into his cup. “She’s bewitched me. The woman is the very devil.”
“There’s no such thing as witchcraft, man. Buck up.” A young man about Alexander’s age thumped his shoulder, and Alexander scowled.
“You don’t know what you’re speaking of.” He flicked his hand as if shooing a fly, but the other man didn’t budge.
“I do know. I’m a man of science, and I tell you, there’s no such thing as witches.”
Alexander teetered to his feet. “Until you have been bewitched, sir, I don’t want to hear your cracked theories.” He staggered toward the door, but he only made it a few steps before the stranger leapt in front of him.
“You dare to call me a crackpot?”
Alexander grinned. “A man who does not believe in magic is either the biggest fool alive, or the biggest liar.” He didn’t see the first punch coming, but once his head stopped ringing, Alexander gave as good as he got.
Finally, by the time the tavern keeper and a few strong lads pitched them both into the street, Alexander was missing a tooth and the young stranger had a black eye. They landed together, face down in the muddy street, and for a moment, they were still.
The stranger started to laugh as he pulled himself to his feet. He held out his hand to his battered companion. “We’d best get you cleaned up. Witchcraft won’t fix that tooth.”
It was then that Alexander’s friendship with Doctor Ferguson began.
