A to Z Challenge - Day 12: L is for Leprechaun!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

The paranormal beings for today are the Leprechaun and the Langsuyar. The leprechaun is obviously very well known. Anyone ever watch those horror movies with the leprechaun? The langsuyar, however, is not heard of as often. It is a female vampire that gives birth to undead offspring. The original legend goes much more in-depth than I could possibly type up in a few sentences, but you should definitely look it up some time. She would be perfect for a horror story.

Anyways, on to the "L" books:

A to Z Challenge - Day 11: K is for Kitsune!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

Today's paranormal beings are the Kappa and Kitsune. These both have one thing in common--their legends originate in Japan. The Kappa is basicaly a vampire with green skin and the Kitsune is a shapeshifter that can change between human and fox and sometime cans possess characters of both at the same time as a human with the face of a fox. I've never heard about either of these before my research for the A to Z Challenge. Have you?

A to Z Challenge - Day 10: J is for Jasconius!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

The paranormal beings for today are the Jasconius and the Jumbie. The Jumbie is a ghost or evil spirit--this is  a term from the Caribbean. The Jasconius is a giant whale that is so large it can be mistaken for an island. I do remember a tale that I heard as a young girl. A ship was sailing the ocean and the people on it were very hungry and tired of sailing. They were lost and without hope until one day they saw an island. The island had strange trees that they could see through their telescope and they hoped the trees would give them fruit.

The sailed towards the island, but no matter how fast they went or how far they went, they could not get to it. After days of sailing toward the island, they finally got close enough to make land. Once they did, they found that the land was strange and damp. There was no sand and the trees were not trees at all, but more like see weed and coral. Suddenly, a strange noise sounded and the island shook. They looked around to see that the island was sinking. They realized too late that it was not an island they had found, but a gigantic whale.

I'm not exactly sure where I heard the story, but it stuck with me. I'm sure I'm missing some details, but that is the synopsis in a nut-shell.

Anyways, on to "J" books:

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

Today's paranormal beings are the Imp and the Incubus. These two actually have something in common. They are both demons. The Imp is a small mischievous demon and is often blamed for daily mishaps. The Incubus is a male demon who seduces women while they sleep by infiltrating their dreams. So far I haven't read a book with either of these creatures in it, but I know I've heard of them before.

Gateway to Reality: Scavenger Hunt Blog Tour and Review!

Hello! Today I am hosting Becca J. Campbell for her Gateway to Reality Blog Tour. This tour is a little different since there is also a scavenger hunt included. You can get your Clue below, but first I'll post the blurb and my review!
The Blurb:Talented artists shouldn’t be waiting tables, scraping by, and living mediocre lives. But that’s exactly what art school graduate Wes Teague is doing.
Then he wakes from a bizarre dream, haunted by the sense that his life isn't real. A harrowing truth presents itself--the real world lies in his dreams, not when he's wide awake.
The dream world he enters each night is rich and vibrant. Chicago appears the same on the surface, but chaos runs rampant as gravity, physics, and other laws of nature become fluid, changing unexpectedly. There, Wes's parents, brother, and sister are strangers. His girlfriend Emily doesn’t recognize him. Wes longs to return, to unlearn the truth about his dual reality.
Wes would sacrifice almost anything to get back to blissful ignorance in a false world.
But now he has feelings for the real Emily.
Available on Amazon
The Review:Gateway to Reality is an amazing read. There is so much here that makes you think twice about the world we live in.
Becca J. Campbell's world building is especially remarkable. The craziness of the "real world" is close to what we would associate as a dream and our main character quickly discovers that unexpected things happen quite often and the people in the Existence have to be ready for anything at any moment.

The main character is easy to relate with. He's just figuring out that everything he knows is flip-flopped.

The story is full of twists and turns and keeps you interested. I read this book very quickly because I had a hard time putting it down!

The science fiction aspect is awesome. There is a little mystery and romance. There is action and adventure. The book is very well-rounded, I'd say.

This book will challenge your mind and I can't wait to see more from the series. I give it 5 stars and recommend this book to people who like psychologically challenging science fiction. The Scavenger Hunt Blog TourYou can enter the giveaway now, but to really amp up your odds at snatching one of these prize packs, check out each site along the blog tour.April 1st Paranormal and Urban Fantasy ReviewsApril 2nd The Peasants RevoltApril 3rd Catharsis of the BogueApril 4th The Pen and WhiskApril 5th Write for LifeApril 6th S.M. A to Z Challenge - Day 7: G is for Gargoyle!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

The paranormal beings for today are Ghost, Gremlin, and Gargoyle. We all know what ghosts are, and who can forget those mischievous gremlins who mess with machines and technology. Gargoyles were a fascination of mine when I was young. They turn to stone and back again--so interesting to me.

Did you ever watch the cartoon, Gargoyles on TV? I did. That's what began my fascination with them. If you've read my novel, Obsidian, then you know there is a character in it inspired by gargoyles. Man I miss that show!

Today's paranormal beings are the Fairy and the Familiar. Fairies have a range of different forms in myth and literature. Most often they are depicted as a small woman with wings and have powers of some sort. The Familiar is a spirit inside an animal that usually helps other paranormal beings like witches.

A to Z Challenge - Day 5: E is for Encantado!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

Today, the paranormal beings I have for you are the Elemental and the Encantado. Elementals are becoming very popular as of late and I do like to read stories about them. The Encantado, however, is rarely discussed in American literature of any sort. This is possibly due to the fact that the legend exists mainly in the Amazon. The Encantado is said to be a dolphin that changed into a hansom human man at night in order to seduce women into joining them forever. The more popular legend is that they become human simply to impregnate human girls and leave them with the child.

Okay, then. On to "E" books:

Elfblood Trilogy #1: Elfblood by Kyra Dune
Elfblood Trilogy #2: The Silver Catacombs by Kyra Dune
Entangled: Spellbound #1 by Nikki Jefford
Erosion of the Heart by Shannon McRoberts

Now for the authors with last names beginning with "E" (Okay, just one again)

Alessandra Ebulu

And finally, characters with "E" names:

A to Z Challenge - Day 4: D is for Doppelganger!

Hey guys! This month is going to be awesome because I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. That means I'll be posting every day but Sundays on a letter themed topic and I'm going to try to involve the paranormal as much as possible.

Your paranormal beings for the day are the Demon, Devil and Doppelganger. The Demon and the Devil are very similar. In most stories, Demons do the Devil's dirty work. Doppelgangers are basically a duplicate of a human. They are known to be evil and sometimes try to take over the life of the person they have duplicated. (Sounds like a version of a changeling huh?) One of the most famous Dopplegangers right now is Elena and Katherine in Vampire Diaries.

Next up, we have the "D" books:

Damaged Goods by Alexandra Allred
Dark Matter: Elemental Enmity Series #2 by Christie Rich
Dead Like Me by Kelly Miller
Deal Me Out by Tom Immins
Detecting Magic with Dick Hunter: The Mort des Hommes Files by A. Jarrel Hayes

Some authors with a last name beginning with "D"

Marylou Depeiza
Pippit Di
Jacob Donley
Kyra Dune

A little known fact: My maiden name is Dodson.

Last but not least, characters with "D" names: (Looks like I only came up with one)
