Ahahaha, omg! He knows!!! This is too funny! If it’s any consolation to him (though disappointment to you), I don’t know that it will be done by next week, though one never knows! (Tell him I’m sorry if it is!!) :P

Post-TAB fic’s over 14,000 words now. I suspect it’s going to be a long one. Technically only about 6 hours have passed in total, haha! Might have to split it into chapters… :P

Sorry but can we just mention the fact that in the second one it so very looks like they’ve both just realised about John’s awkwardly-timed erection

Sherlock & John | Afghanistan or cocaine?
This video is very important to me.
Watch it, guys, and you will not regret it.
Thank you.
GUYSSSSSSSSSSSS THIS IS THE ORIGINAL ONE YOU SHOULD ALL REBLOG THIS ONE!!!!
@johnlockedsoul this is amazing, varied everything I loved about the episode!
I hate especially when she thinks she's being all cute and clever and gets this "I know more than you look" on her face. When Sherlock does these things I'm just like "ah that's just him" but her I'm like "I want to punch you!!!" Especially her comments du
Ahaha, I just answered your last ask privately, but I think I’ll answer this one publicly!
If you’re anyone other than @be-good-baker, we’re talking about Mary.
So here’s the thing: Mary is NOT smarter than Sherlock. I think those scenes in TAB, which are all in Sherlock’s head, of course, are about his fear of other people being smarter than him. We’ve been shown that Mycroft may be smarter than Sherlock, but I’d say it depends on the situation. And no one else is smarter than they are.
I can’t talk about Moriarty without totally spoiling my next fic, so I’ll just get straight to Mary. The fact is that, although she took Sherlock by surprise when he interrupted her threatening Magnussen, she never got the better of Sherlock after that. He fed the right information to people he knew she would ask, leading her directly into his trap in Leinster Gardens. He got that projector set up so that she could hardly have killed him without giving herself away. He arranged it so that John would be there to see her for what she really was without having to tell John directly (and probably thereby saving his friendship with John, too). He managed to give John enough clues to get him to come. He led Mary into believing that John was him, then a dummy - she never saw it. He convinced John to stay with her, likely for John’s own safety, since Sherlock was too injured to watch out for him or protect him from Mary’s reaction should he have chosen to leave her that night, as he was clearly on the brink of doing.
Sherlock has insecurities, to put it mildly. He’s sure that his worth in everyone’s eyes is tied to their perception of his intelligence, which is why he’s so afraid of other people coming off as smarter than he is. But he’s got this situation in hand, I think. :)
But yes - when Sherlock says things that are socially tone-deaf, they’re rarely actually done out of a sense of maliciousness, which doesn’t excuse him when they hurt people. The difference is that he shows contrition. He felt badly when he realised that he’d hurt Molly, and later acknowledged her importance in helping him get away with jumping off the roof of the hospital where she works, crediting her with equal footing, even asking her advice re. John and drinking, etc. He apologised to John for what he put him through, and meant it.
Mary, as I’ve said in a few different posts now, lives to embarrass people, to make them feel small and worthless and stripped bare. Even without her killer past, Mary is a mean-spirited, malicious, nasty person with a cute façade, one that I’m constantly surprised manages to take people in. She has cute mannerisms, but her actual face is the one she makes when she realises she’s managed to hurt Sherlock and make him shrivel within his skin over his jealousy of Sholto. THAT’S Mary in a nutshell. Furthermore, for reasons that only the most convoluted of reasoning could ever possible explain, Mary shot someone in the heart, and has shown exactly zero signs of contrition. She has not apologised, has not demonstrably felt badly over it, and worse still, doesn’t seem to feel that anyone (John, say) has the right to be angry at her over it! “Oh, are we doing conversation today? It really IS Christmas!” Where the hell does Mary get off thinking that way??? And then, in a mind-blowing act of self-sacrifice, the man she shot/tried to kill then shoots the man who was blackmailing her and takes the full blame for it, sparing her a life in prison (where she belongs), and she doesn’t seem to feel that this warrants so much as a thank you/take care of yourself out there/come back soon. Oh no! Instead, Mary rubs in the fact that she’s the one who gets to stay behind with Sherlock’s best friend. This is just not a nice person. This is a person who CANONICALLY has a list of guests at her OWN WEDDING who hate her.
Sorry to get capsy, but Mary brings it out in me. :P
