Thank you so much! My landlord just called and said they’ve fixed the broken pipe and that they cleaned the floor (we’ll see, I guess…) but that the hole is still there because they have to wait a few days until everything is completely dry before they can patch it. So I guess I’ll go home now, but I’m hella scared of that hole. Ugh. Like - how can I even sleep with that thing there??

So this is happening chez moi right now… these were taken...
So this is happening chez moi right now… these were taken last night. I got home from a dinner party, happily a bit wine-tipsy and walked in, took off my shoes, and walked into a puddle. My basement apartment had flooded, leaking from the ceiling. The fucking ceiling!! I called my landlord, though it was after 10pm and he’s an old dude, but he answered (thanks be!), checked with my upstairs neighbour to see if he’d flooded the kitchen or something, but he hadn’t - a pipe had burst. So he just started pulling my ceiling to pieces. The level of suckage cannot be measured. I gathered up my shit, took a taxi to my friend’s place and crashed there. Now I’m camping out in a café for the rest of the day and trying to catch up on all of my work and everything… ugh. Supposedly my landlord and his fix-it dude are fixing the pipe and then the ceiling now. I’m hella arachnophobic and gaping holes in the ceiling like this = HELL NO. Shudder. I really hope they’re actually fixing it now… good vibes would be super appreciated right now! :/

I expect they experience the opposite so often in that industry that it’s a breath of fresh air when someone is polite, respectful and hard working. I love supporting someone with such traits.
Anyone who says anything different about Benedict is selling a lie: this is completely consistent with what everyone else he’s ever worked with has ever said about him. Protect this lovely man.
