Top 5 Mary Watson Moments
This was posted on the BBC Sherlock TV Series facebook page. Boy, Sherlockshome.net needs to put the pipe down! They obviously cannot handle it. POOR misunderstood Mary?! @inevitably-johnlocked @monikakrasnorada @mollydobby @ladymacphisto @snogbox1 @shitpostingholmes

Even though shooting her husband’s best friend was really really bad, it was one of the very few options she had to keep both Sherlock and John alive and out of jail. Sherlock even elaborated on this fact later at Baker Street. The redeeming factors of this whole situation (even though they’re still not good) are that she was only in Magnussen’s office to protect John in the first place and she knew the shot wouldn’t kill Sherlock.”
I am literally rolling on the floor right now. Who wrote this article?! One of the few options she had to keep Sherlock and John alive and out of jail? Generally when I want to keep someone alive you know what I don’t do? I DON’T SHOOT THEM IN THE CHEST. And She was only there in the first place to protect John? Um, no. She was there to protect herself, as has every thing she has done on the show has been, only to protect HER.
This is laughable and a gross misreading of both the show and the character.
Yeah I’m gonna need some other opinions here - @silentauroriamthereal, @inevitably-johnlocked, @beejohnlocked
You know, I try to avoid engaging with the clinically insane, but that said, I just have to take issue with this one bit: “… it was one of the very few options she had to keep both Sherlock and John alive and out of jail…” I just have to address that:
1) Neither Sherlock or John were about to go to jail. Would they have been penalised for breaking into Magnussen’s office? Possibly. Sent to prison? Not very bloody likely. Mary, on the other hand, had broken in by scaling the building (way, WAY fishier than sweet-talking one’s fake girlfriend into letting them up!!) and threatening the owner of the space at gunpoint, after having physically assaulted two of his staff. Mary was the one who needed to be concerned about getting sent to jail, not the other two. And that’s not “interpretation”, by the way. That’s canon. That’s what happened in the episode.
2) If Sherlock and/or John did something that warranted them getting sent to prison, it was never Mary’s responsibility to prevent that from happening. She is not their mother, legal guardian, or keeper. Even wife doesn’t cover that. Sherlock and John are both adults responsible for their own behaviour. Full stop.
3) Neither Sherlock’s or John’s lives were at risk except at Mary’s hand. Magnussen posed no threat whatsoever in this regard.
This is literally delusional. @ravenmorganleigh, @happierstill, care to add anything??

OH MY FLIPPING CHRIST YOU’RE GENUIS! @silentauroriamthereal I so hope you don’t mind me posting this but I didn’t want to scroll all the way to the end of the story to comment before reading the whole thing/ or risk forgetting commenting about that part cause WOW! What if we’re all tripping ball sacks about Moriarty and it’s something as simple as that? Even if it’s not canon, brilliant idea

Reporter: Sherlock, you've just defeated Moriarty AGAIN! What are you gonna do now?
Sherlock, with his mouth against the microphone: I'm going to suck John's dick.
