So true. This is one of the reasons why I’m glad…
It isn’t enough for us to say, “how sad, I’m glad I don’t live there”, though. We’re global neighbours. Is there anything we can do to help? This is the question we all need to be asking. What can we do from within the US? And is there anything we can do from outside the country? It’s possible that the answer is no, but I think we have to at least talk about this and search for answers before dismissing it out of hand.

America does not have a problem with terrorism. America has a problem with valuing guns and personal freedom over taking care of its citizens’ education and health. It’s frankly unbelievable that the notion of a hate-spewing human sweat stain like Donald Trump running for president ever got past the level of being a not-very-funny joke, and yet here it is: he’s about to take over the free world. I don’t blame any one of you lovely people who happen to be America, whether by birth or immigration. But something is very, very wrong with this system and my heart aches for people in the US who are at risk of gun violence every single day. We are one world community, though, and things like this affect everyone. I’m saying that the rest of us are standing here with you, Americans.
How many people have to die before people understand that gun deaths like this just aren’t happening in any other country in the world to this extent? I’m just so devastated and angry. American media is constantly agonising about imagined terrorists in every pocket of the world, yet turns a blind eye to the fact that America is arming its own unstable, poorly-educated, ignorant citizens to target people dancing. There are wars out there, real wars, and real problems like malnutrition and starvation and children and women being bought and sold like pieces of furniture, and people dancing in America as being killed by their own neighbours.
It’s not enough to be broken-hearted and devastated on tumblr and twitter and facebook and whatever else. What can we actually do to make things better? This is a real question. I don’t know as much as I could about the specifics of American political structures, but could we write letters to senators? Governors? The president? Gun control laws need to change. Obama, I just read, has just addressed his 18th mass shooting in his presidency. And as he himself said, it’s not enough to be sad. What can we do? Feel free to reblog this post with your ideas. Let’s start turning the wheels of change. It’s way past time.

Something bad is about to happen to the main character in my novel and I’m nervous for him.
This is ridiculous. I know exactly what’s going to happen to him because I’m the one writing it. Even so. *bites nails*

Just sharing a pic of a cake I made last week for my buddy’s birthday. :) When I asked him what kind of cake he likes, the first one he said was funfetti, which I had never really heard of. What I did think was that it was probably a box mix, and I was right, and I was not about to make my friend a box mix cake for his birthday! So I googled recipes, found this one (long-winded explanation at the beginning but it’s so good!!) and used it, and it worked out perrrrfectly. I mean, it’s obviously very homemade-looking, but it was so f’ing good! I would eat this cake every day if I cook. Seriously. It was even better the second and third days! I didn’t have brown sugar and used all white, and it was fine. I used vanilla Greek yogurt. If you like baking, try this!!

I used to get mad when men would make jokes about how women’s periods make them irrational, but now I just remember that during Victorian times, a table’s legs were thought to arouse men so they invented table cloths to cover them up so men wouldn’t get erections during dinner
I might cry for no reason but at least I’ve never gotten a BONER for a fucking TABLE
