Sometimes it’s really lonely being an author. Because when you’re writing, you’re doing it alone, and there’s no one there to gush over silly feelings with you.

And I suppose that’s why reader comments are important to authors. It’s not about the compliments. It’s that we’ve been alone with our thoughts this whole time. It’s an awesome feeling when a friend shows up to share them with you.

YES! THIS!

This is why I never understand authors who don’t respond to comments. I always feel like, it’s *my* story; why wouldn’t I want to talk about it?? This person voluntarily came into this little world that I created and is actually willing to talk about it with me! That’s so exciting!! :)))

So. I met Benedict Cumberbatch the other night.

I’m still processing, honestly, and the big thing that I need to write is another letter to him, one which I assume going in that he will never read (I can’t even imagine the volume of fanmail he must receive!), but I’ll still write it because I need to say it, even if it’s never read. In this post I want to talk about some of the stuff I want to say there, so I’m just kind of working through my thoughts here.

This is going to be long, and a little emotional, so I’m putting it behind a cut to spare your dashes (among other things!).

Reblogging this, because it’s been one year today since I saw Benedict perform and ever so briefly got to meet him after. It’s no less poignant today than it was a year ago. I have the ticket that he signed framed and sitting on my desk at all times, with my framed portrait of him that the incredible @lunadax gifted me with shortly after that on the other side. Still so grateful for this man’s talent, his kindness, and the incredible amount of light he puts forth into this world. ❤❤❤❤❤

rohie:

“The low-maintenance woman, the ideal woman, has no appetite. This is not to say that she refuses food, sex, romance, emotional effort; to refuse is petulant, which is ironically more demanding. The woman without appetite politely finishes what’s on her plate, and declines seconds. She is satisfied and satisfiable.

A man’s appetite can be hearty, but a woman with an appetite is always voracious: her hunger always overreaches, because it is not supposed to exist. If she wants food, she is a glutton. If she wants sex, she is a slut. If she wants emotional care-taking, she is a high-maintenance bitch or, worse, an “attention whore”: an amalgam of sex-hunger and care-hunger, greedy not only to be fucked and paid but, most unforgivably of all, to be noticed.”

— Hunger Makes Me, Jess Zimmerman

The lowest maintenance woman possible is one that doesn’t even exist

listen up if you don’t know cabin pressure then CONGRATULATIONS you’ve just stumbled upon the purest, funniest, most anxiety-reducing radio show you will ever know

as the OP to the masterpost i wanna confirm the above comment, and also say that even tho this post is old all the links are still functional! give it a listen if you ever wanna unwind from a stressful day and have a good laugh :D

Spread the Cabin Pressure love!!! If you don’t know this masterpiece, you owe t to yourself to discover it! It stars:

Benedict Cumberbatch as Martin Crieff, the world’s best/worst pilot: incompetent, status-obsessed, rule-adoring, and a hopeless loser, yet you will do everything in your power to protect this muffin

Roger Allam as Douglas Richardson: smug, arrogant, very competent, will 1000% steal your whiskey and beat you at every game and make drawling, sarcastic remarks throughout

John Finnemore as Arthur Shappey (also the author of the series!): 28-and-a-half years old, endearingly childlike, and don’t even ask what’s in the surprising rice, because frankly that question is not really in the spirit of surprising rice!

Stephanie Cole as Carolyn Knapp-Shappey: owns an airline* because she won it, on purpose, from her horrible ex-husband and named said airline MJN Air, which stands for “My Jet Now”. And that’s really all you need to know about Carolyn.

This series is dangerous to listen to in public because you WILL laugh out loud and people will think you’re crazy. It will give you an in to 10,000 inside jokes that only the world’s smallest fandom has access to, and you will be happy.

aw I actually didn’t know that, that’s cute :p

I have the exact same problem so I notice it in Ben all the time! I love it (in him, at least!)! It’s so humanizing for such an unbelievably talented person!
