Why, WHY does tumblr keep showing me my own bœuf bourguignon post from last Christmas?? I’ve seen it at least 20 times in the past 3-4 days and it’s getting ridiculous. Like… I know how to make it. It’s *my* post. And recipe. Lol.

I don’t know how
It’s not the bomb he didn’t know how to defuse. It was John’s anger. His expression, his helplessness, his apology… those were all very real. He also needed to make it safe for John, whom he knows has trouble with expressing his feelings, to hear his apology and to forgive him. John needed it as much as Sherlock needed to hear it. And then they needed to laugh together again. At last.
Hello! I absolutely adore all your work and Im always so excited to see you posting about a WIP! How do you stay motivated when writing? It takes me forever to write anything. The one fic I have posted that wasnt written in one sitting took me 4 years and
That’s a good question! I think that the honest answer is that no one is motivated 100% of the time. I think what does help me stay on track is my desire to share the story I’ve written, and I can’t do that if it isn’t finished. That’s my personal stance and not one I’m trying to impose on anyone else at all! I would just fret endlessly if I started posting a story before knowing for sure that I knew how to end it, so I don’t. Less pressure for me that way, for sure! I also make myself write in the order the story needs to go - no jumping around for me. I never start a story without knowing the basics of how it begins, how it ends, and at least a few major points along the way. I don’t like to overplan; that can kill a story (for me, at least!). I often have scenes in mind that come later in the story, and tempting as it would be to jump ahead and just write those moments, I know that for me and for my process, I need for it to go in order, so sometimes writing towards those big moments can help keep me going, because I want to get there and write that scene!
Whenever I’ve had to take a break from my story, the best thing for me to do is go back and re-read it, and if not from the beginning, then at least the last or newest section, editing as I go. That helps remind me of the trajectory I was on so that the continuity doesn’t break down, too! Sometimes what helps is sharing a scene or two with a trusted friend - their excitement can really help, too! I used to think that posting my little updates would be a pain in the ass for my followers - and indeed, a few did tell me that! - but I kept doing it partly because more people than the complainers asked me to, and also because people’s excitement helps fuel my own!
I don’t know if any of that was helpful, but here’s hoping! All the very best with your story!
