I really wanted to have this up sooner, but life sometimes has other plans, and I really wanted to do the editing job justice! This is, in an unrelated sidenote, probably the most political fic I’ve ever written! It’s a deliberate reversal of the fake-couple-for-a-case trope - it’s one where they become a couple during a case and can’t let on! I had fun with it and I hope you like it! :)))

This whole entire WEEK, even!
So: Mondays are my day off. Except that I teach in the evenings. Not really a *whole* day off, but some of a day. I finished my fic that day. Per my rule, I always make myself sleep on it before I do the big final edit, particularly of the most recently written material.
Tuesdays are my 12-hour days: I work at my museum job and then I go to the conservatory and teach again. Finish at 9pm, get home around 9:30pm. I got some big editing work done, about half the (50K) fic. Stumbled exhausted into bed.
Wednesday: I worked at the museum, then went directly to meet my bff for dinner. We had wanted to see Jojo Rabbit, and we did, but we were too late for the 6:30pm show, so we saw it at 9:15pm, the only other option. Great evening. But I got home after midnight, stumbled exhausted into bed without getting anything else whatsoever done.
Today: I worked at the museum, went directly to a meeting that I was a slice late for, since my bus was snagged in heavy traffic. I had hoped to get inside to edit a bit, or at least put my tupperwares from Wednesday’s lunch down, but since I was late, the meeting ran into that time and I had to go straight to my choir rehearsal. After that, my mom drove me to the liquor store JUST in time before it closed to buy a bottle of wine for the thing I have tomorrow evening, then to buy a few groceries, because I have no food and no time to buy any. I got home, hastily threw together a salad to go with the leftovers I’d already taken out to thaw, eager to get back to editing and hopefully posting, since I’d said it should be up no later than today… and then I knocked my bottle of wine, still in its paper bag, from the counter onto the floor, where it shattered. An entire bottle of wine, all over my kitchen floor, running under the fridge, broken glass everywhere. It took me 20 minutes (20 PRECIOUS minutes!!!) to clean up, with me weeping over my lost bottle of wine AND the time it took to rush out of rehearsal and get to the store in time, AND the lost $15, AND the fact that I now have no wine to take to my thing.
And it’s now 11pm and I’m overdue for going to bed. I have a cold and I wanted to have a bath tonight and figure out what I’m wearing tomorrow, etc etc etc, and none of that is happening. I’m so very sorry. I won’t be able to even finish editing the fic before Saturday after work now (my museum job is full time Tuesday-Saturday, ugh). I hate that I said it would be up by today and that it isn’t, now. That’s most unlike me, but this week has just not cooperated in any way for making that possible. I’m not at a desk at the museum (I work in the galleries), so there’s no chance of sneakily working on it while at work, either. I’m really, really sorry. :((((

I have so many fics from yours to read yet, and I’m definitely not going to be deterred from you or your stories/writing anytime soon. We all have rl outside fandom and it’s understood if you need time for anything else outside of it. Don’t beat yourself up over it, you have a faithful follower in me ❤��
